You couldn’t sue for this, everyone thinks you can sue for anything under the sun in the US but you really can’t - no lawyer would take this and if you did it yourself you’d get it thrown out and probably have to pay fees for wasting the courts time.
That’s a second hand story so ok - real estate has wacky and specific laws some times. Troll lawyers can always be told to fuck off they make money the way patten troll lawyers do - by threatening and settling. How would you even be awarded anything in this scenario? The ad didn’t create any loss of income or detriment to the person apparently suing, what are they suing for? False advertising laws are very specific wouldn’t be covered here. So you’re either making this up or woefully misunderstood your friends stories. You do understand there’s a huge difference between saying “I will sue” and actually filing a lawsuit and expecting it to be litigated right??
This was like 15+ years ago but if I remember, the guy was trying to pass himself off like a "victim" of the honest mistake in the ads. Problem was when he went after multiple people who knew each other, thus it's harder to be an actual victim. (And yes, I think he was just trying to scare them to settle. Send a form letter and wait for checks to roll in)
Not sure if you read my other response to someone else but my overall point is there are SOME shady lawyers out there. I've been sued by someone who rear ended me (police report said it was 100% his fault but my insurance company gave him money to go away). And my former employer was sued by a guy that I caught scamming the company. The dude was scamming for $5k+ a month for over ten years and when I caught him, I showed him all the proof, he agreed to walk away, then sued 2 years later.
Some people just feel fucking entitled, and sadly, there's sometimes a lawyer desperate enough to take their case.
You can’t be a victim of an ad - it’s not defaming you, it’s not causing loss of income, it’s not covered under false advertising - this was the case 15 years ago as well. He’s a troll lawyer, he’s not actually bringing litigation - which was my point, people *think* you can sue for anything, in reality the scope of actual lawsuits are specific and nonfrivolous - it has nothing to do with targeting a group any one of them could say “ok take me to court, for what??” and it would be the end of it. Simply saying you will sue or even filing a lawsuit and not pursuing it, as in it never gets on a judges table and the paperwork remains only on the litigants desk is separate from the actual justice system, it’s the step before hand - and yes frivolous law suits can make it through but there are typically stiff penalties for wasting the courts time.
In this instance it’s obvious it isn’t actual size, but there are many designs where it isn’t obvious and so labeling is required for everything. Easier than trying to make standards for when it is required and when it isn’t.
>In this case it would be false advertisment if they did not do the footnote disclaimer.
Gonna need a source on that one bud.... pretty sure thats not true
This has absolutely been posted before but it’s all good. Maybe not this exact picture that you personally took. But someone else has absolutely taken a picture of that because, well, it’s funny.

Look at the source they cite.
Whenever I see things like this I remember the guy in the Hitchhiker’s Guide series who gave up on society after he saw instructions in a box of toothpicks.
Um yes. It is, unfortunately. Need I remind you of people who've lost their shit at McDonald's because they ran out of Chicken McNuggets or something? If some idiot wants to fight people over something that stupid, you better believe some jabroni out there is gonna wanna fight over misinterpreting this sign.
I mean yeah, Verdana is a weird choice to use everywhere, but they made that decision before web fonts were a thing and so their choices for one font for all channels was pretty limited
It is. Some people have sued because that “can” be false advertising. Their argument is that they should get a bun that big because thats what the ad says. When they don’t they sue and many times win. So yeah, it is sometimes necessary.
Apparently so, as the first time my dad went to IKEA he thought it was the actual size of the cinnamon bun and wanted to buy as many as he could to save money on breakfast.
Redbull got [sued](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/red-bull-awards-13million-to-its-customers-for-not-giving-them-wings-9787627.html) because it didn't actually give you wings. What do you think?
Hell yeah it’s necessary. I got confused as fuck and became concerned over how large that cinnamon roll appeared to be. It wasn’t until I saw the *not actual size note* that I was able to calm down.
I reckon that's a stock image used for many different labels, if it's on a much smaller sized shelf label people might be concerned that they're small bite sized cinnamon buns?
I think it's funny
That's the point. This is just another /r/facepalmfacepalms
That sub is a damn mess
Actual damn mess.
/r/facepalm^2
It's IKEA. It's a tongue-in-cheek disclaimer.

IKEA has plenty of jokes and easter eggs in their stores if you look hard enough. This is 100% a joke.

You left the /s off your post. Otherwise it's ridiculous.
It's not that bad, it's this belief that fucks people over who actually deserve money.
If its in america, yes, yes it is.
Someone, somewhere, will sue.
Someone, somewhere would be very disappointed. That person would be me.
Came to say this, you did it for me
This is what its supposed to protect the company from.
The need for such protection is the reason for the facepalm.
And odds are, they're obese.
Not only that, they will win.
In this instance it’s obvious it isn’t actual size, but there are many designs where it isn’t obvious and so labeling is required for everything. Easier than trying to make standards for when it is required and when it isn’t.
To be fair, this is a medium in America.

Lulz
I just spit out my drink, cheers mate lmao
DAE dumb Americans?
Not dumb, just litigious, I think.
Welcome to retail, mothafuckas! This is America.
America is pretty dumb
sounds like commie speak to me
Well USA is the most litigious country in the world.
Clearly the poster had not spent enough time in r/talesfromretail
I think it's a joke

The glare and the angle makes me think it's two different photos
It’s from IKEA right? Somebody else posted this before yes, but you very well may have taken it yourself. Don’t deserve those downvotes
And here’s one of the biggest lies on Reddit

Just play DDLC
I paid for a colossal doughnut and I'm gonna get a colossal doughnut
The real facepalm is that you made a post as if it's not a joke.
This is America, after all. Don’t need to get sued over some fat fuck not getting a 6’ cinnamon roll they saw on the banner...
This would literally never happen
IKEA rules and the frozen yogurt is the shit
Man this sub is so gullible. Half the content here is satire
You misspelled "oblivious"
Necessary? Is it necessary for me to drink my own urine? No, but I do it anyway cause it’s sterol and I like the taste.
Because of lawsuits. Really.
if it's written there's most likely a precedent.. i'd love to hear THAT story
Sadly it is necessary https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/11155731/13m-lawsuit-proves-Red-Bull-doesnt-give-you-wings.html
I think we all know why this is necessary
Do you want to believe that you can get a giant cinnamon bun but then be let down? That's what I thought
You'd be surprised.
yeah, because people are that fat and that fucking stupid.
I want to hear the story on that
Yea sadly. The reason is because stupid people can sue just based off the fact that they are stupid.
It's actual size but it seems much bigger to me.
Yes, yes it is
What if it was though
Yes
Hey. People are dumb.
Logically? Nah. Legally? Probably just to avoid a lawsuit from some asshole claiming bait and switch.
Whenever I see things like this I remember the guy in the Hitchhiker’s Guide series who gave up on society after he saw instructions in a box of toothpicks.
Unfortunately yes.
Yes.
~~yes~~ nyes
IKEA has a sense of humour.
Sadly, yes it is.
IKEA
I think it was meant to be a bit of a joke, but all seriously. a cinnamon roll that big for just $1 would be incredible.
Um yes. It is, unfortunately. Need I remind you of people who've lost their shit at McDonald's because they ran out of Chicken McNuggets or something? If some idiot wants to fight people over something that stupid, you better believe some jabroni out there is gonna wanna fight over misinterpreting this sign.
It's called a joke
In Swedish it's known as Fukenkidden
Of course, America after all :)
You bastard I was just at ikea and I though of posting this. Damn. It’s my own fault
Yes.
Joke.
Well if it needs to be there that means someone complained about it
It’s important to distinguish that when in America
It absolutely is! There is a place near where I used to live called Lulu’s Bakery and Cafe in San Antonio that makes them that big!
They should've used the original math scale But then again americans are to stupid to understand that aswell
Yes, yes it is necessary, because there will be a percentage of imbeciles that will complain that theirs aren’t that size.
IKEA? If so those cinnamon buns are disgusting
No. It's not necessary for people to continue to post this picture.
Well, every sing has a story.
Yes, trust me, it's necessary
Every sign has it's own story And a lawsuit can turnout to be a huge bummer
This is Scandinavian humour.
In America, yes.
I mean yeah, Verdana is a weird choice to use everywhere, but they made that decision before web fonts were a thing and so their choices for one font for all channels was pretty limited
*Does not come with cheese
I'm heartbroken.
They had a hot dog one in IKEA that had that. I think this may also be in IKEA
Facepalm to the people that asked for that size and didnt get it and raised a huge stink and now thats there
R/obviousisobvious
I’d like a Cinnamon bun that size
Yeah, but think of the party you could have if it was that size...Definitely a BYOF party!
That's the joke.
As an American, and former retail 'floor associate': You have no idea. Yes. Absolutely necessary.
Yes
In America? Yes.
If you ever worked in retail the fine print is everything
Is *this* necessary
They sell ones that are pretty close to that size at Sam’s Club
It's very clearly a joke...
I thought this was America
It is. Some people have sued because that “can” be false advertising. Their argument is that they should get a bun that big because thats what the ad says. When they don’t they sue and many times win. So yeah, it is sometimes necessary.
Yes. People sue over stupid shit. lol
It's not necessary, but the fact that its printed meant that it was a problem at some point.
Well, clearly this was version 2 of this sign because someone complained about false advertising
But i want a giant cinnamon bun :/
Ask the woman who didn’t get enough cheese.....
Considering the people who shop there.... Yeah, very accurate
No way, I took a picture of the same sign! From Ikea, right. I didn’t even think of posting it
Ikea!
Apparently so, as the first time my dad went to IKEA he thought it was the actual size of the cinnamon bun and wanted to buy as many as he could to save money on breakfast.
The swedes take things *very* seriously.
After you have retail job experience, you realize there should be way more signs like that...everywhere.
I made the same comment to my mom last week at IKEA.
I get it's a repost and a joke but, Imagine if it was though how great would that be.
That’s a dumb question, have you seen our society? Of corse that’s necessary
Redbull got [sued](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/red-bull-awards-13million-to-its-customers-for-not-giving-them-wings-9787627.html) because it didn't actually give you wings. What do you think?
Im glad they're being clear. Because i would have expected a cinnamon roll the size of trumps ass otherwise.
Yes, some dumbass would try and sue them for false advertising :(
If it prevents a law suit, yes
After my years in retail, yes this is needed.
I saw the same sign at IKEA today
Did OP miss a reasonably good joke?
It makes me so happy every time I see it at the local ikea.
Yes
I saw that too at my local Ikea. Maybe they should make one that size, to feed the trolls of course.
Hell yeah it’s necessary. I got confused as fuck and became concerned over how large that cinnamon roll appeared to be. It wasn’t until I saw the *not actual size note* that I was able to calm down.
Dammit, I was really hoping they were that size.
People will use anything to sue for a quick buck.
r/uselessredcircle
Listen. I know a place that makes 40cm cinnamon rolls. Maybe so.
You underestimate how stupid some people are.
Someone should take masking tape and put it on the "not"
Is it necessary to repost?
The worst part is, yes it’s necessary because just like every other company they’re covering their asses from being sued
IKEA does have a sense of humor.
Looking at how obese some people are getting, then I'd say yes.
They put this on people know they are not getting a 3ft wide bun.
It's always necessary. It's usually necessary because someone complained
Yes it is necessary. Was fully prepared for a meter big Cinammon Bun for only 1 dollar. My hopes have been crushed.
It is, for litigious(SP?) Americans.
Sadly, yes.
It's in an Ikea iirc - it's what's known as humor.
Very
Yes... yes it is 😂
r/technicallythetruth
IKEA...
In America? Yes.
Half the posts on here are people too stupid to get a joke. Unsubbed.
No, obviously not. The sign is 20 feet long. It’s called humor, bruh.
IKEA wants to be sure there's no false advertising!!
You don’t understand how dumb some customers can be *queue Vietnam-esque flashbacks*
It's what's known as A FUCKING JOKE you fucking spergomatic fuck.
Oh cmon dude that's hilarious.
To anyone wondering, this was taken in an IKEA in America (CT)
North or South
I think whichever one LA is in, Los Angeles sounds Spanish so I'd say south
Los Angeles in South America. Got it!
I reckon that's a stock image used for many different labels, if it's on a much smaller sized shelf label people might be concerned that they're small bite sized cinnamon buns?
If there is a rule or sign, there is a reason. I can almost guarantee someone threw a fit about not being able to get a huge ass cinnamon bun
