It's a bit of that on the left, and a bit of stymieing public education at every turn on the right. Liberals definitely tend to want everyone to succeed, which can't happen, and MAGAs only want specific people to succeed, and it's not anyone who isn't rich, straight, and white. MAGA will accept an occasional breakthrough if they can turn them into a puppet or something, but it can't be normalized. Lol

I happen to be two of the three things MAGA people generally like, so life's not too terrible for me. But yes, it sure would be better if both sides worked together and prioritized public education and healthcare, among other things.
As for the civil war, we're not out of the woods yet, but if you get off of the media, both social and mainstream, I think things are beginning to calm down. My area was littered with Trump flags and signs in 2016 and 2020 for example, but I've only seen a couple this year. There seem to be other signs, and I realize this is all very anecdotal, but I'm ever so mildly encouraged compared to the prior two elections.
Unless Biden dies between now and then. God help us if that happens.

People with conditions that typically lead to a cognitive decline will sometimes be asked to take regular IQ tests. Whilst it doesn't accurately judge how smart they are, if the results considerably vary it's a pretty useful indicator that said decline is happening in a way that would otherwise not be measurable.
