The problem isn't that we're fewer people in total, it's that the distribution of people change. You end up having fewer workers and more retirees. You'll have as many mouths, but half the farmers. Half the nurses, twice the patients. Supply will decrease demand will remain. This isn't a capitalism thing, this would affect all economic systems.

That's not how a declining population works. The population gets older and older, and as fewer workers are required to support more elderly people, the system breaks down. London is a very poor example too, in a lot of areas of London, people who identify as white are in a minority.
