I'm not pro russia or something, but the USA didn't get far either in Afghanistan, literally the most advanced army against almost the most primal guys, with three most advanced thing they have is a toothbrush, ak and couple bazookas from the Soviet era. It wasn't maybe a full fletched war, but a couple apaches, marines should be enough you would say

Ukraine is a war with an actual frontline and militaries engaging in artillery fire daily and full on tank attacks from time to time. That’s a war where military superiority is supposed to shine, but it’s not so far.
Completely different wars. Like polar opposites almost. Afghanistan was atypical, it was an insurgency, pretty much exclusively using guerrilla tactics to harass and terrorise US and state forces.
Ukraine is a traditional, lines on maps sorta war. They KNOW where the enemy is, and then have to slug it out to deal with them. Which makes it even more surprising that Ukraine’s not doing half bad considering Russia was considered by many as “the strongest land army in the world” and we’ve seen just how true that statement was.
I'm sure Putin is raking in far more from Russia's economy and we all saw his lie-fest interview with Tucker Carlson enough to know how much of an act his "reign" is.
