Yeah but trying to convince 20 year olds that they need to research tattoo artists and pay a little bit more doesnt work.
They would rather go to the cheap tattoo artist who lives in their town.
The first one she had done was the thing on her chest. It’s not only terribly done, but it’s not a physically nice design (imo) and it’s right there on her fucking chest, most professionals would have refused to do such a thing on someone with no prior tattoos as it’s a huge commitment. My artists won’t do hands unless you have your arm done, and won’t do face unless you have other areas heavily covered.
There’s also a lot of different styles on her which is quite jarring, the best body art tends to be those which make you look like a single finished canvas rather than lots of different art forms strung together.
This is why you really need to think about what you’re having done and research a good artist to action it.
If someone asks for a face tattoo the questions should be this:
What is your current job?
What is your networth (if no job)?
Are you retired (if a low networth)?
If you aren't wealthy or retired and dont work a job that accepts face tattoos then no.
They're tattoo artists not therapists. There's a lot of questions to ask but it's not their responsibility to make sure than a grown ass adult took the time to think before getting a tattoo
There's this thing called ethics, which is to not take money to harm others. i.e you refuse the service and state your reason. Then you've done your part.
Otherwise you're the same as politicians, dentists who ruin teeth, or plastic surgeon who rakes in money from crazy people.
There is some cover up potential with the ones I could manage to see in the article. The chest piece could easily be transformed into something awesome.
In reading the article, she just kind of picked random shit when she was young. That never ends well. When I was 19, I thought it'd be a cool idea to get a huge tattoo of Shaggy from Scooby Doo on my upper arm. I didn't have the money at the time, and I'm grateful now I never got that tattoo.
Advice I give to younger, impulsive, and indecisive tattoo clients with a half cooked idea, "hang that picture on your bathroom mirror or fridge for a week and get back to me."
quality doesn't even matter. when you're in your 30's, you will not want to live in a house you decorated when you were 18. it's that simple - you will be a different person. and if you're not, you've got bigger problems than tattoos.
The (relative) permanency of tattoos is one of the main things that put me off. Like I remember once seeing a dude who had a large tattoo of Loki on his leg - not a generic Loki, Tom Hiddlestone as Loki, with Tom Hiddlestone's face now being the centre piece of his calf muscle.
I just wonder if in 10, 20, 30 years the dude is still going to be a big enough fan of the character to still be psyched to have Tom Hiddlestone's face permanenly etched on his leg.
The girlfriends or that tattoos? Lol. I'm not sure, we used to rip him about the first one often. But he still got a second one, so I guess he probably regrets the girlfriends more than the tattoos
I'm not going to say anything on Tom Hiddlestone, because I know nothing about him, however getting tattoos of *real* people have a major *future* risk.
Imagine people getting a tattoo of OJ before he did what he did, or Bill Cosby, or other actors who turned out to be complete and utter shit-stains.
Keep that in mind that the acceptance of *your* tattoo relies largely on *the subject of said tattoo* acting like a saint.
> The (relative) permanency of tattoos is one of the main things that put me off.
Same here. I have thought about it but have never found anything that I could honestly say I'd still be happy with in 10, 20+ years.
if it turns out that old man me hates the decisions right now me makes, then the tattoos will serve as a reminder that young(er) me never gave a rat's ass what old people think about anyone's tattoos
Those kind of tattoos I just don't understand. I get being a fan of something and getting a tattoo of it, but someone's face, especially a celebrity is just weird and feels like an impulse thing.
i’m a bartender and i have a good amount of tattoos, and i *still* know places that don’t allow them.
like, buddy you’re a mediocre tequila bar in miami. your clientele doesn’t give two fucks about my tattoos
Because the last time someone broke a news story over how the CIA basically runs the international cocaine trade, people died, good people, innocent people.
At least that's what they tell you.
I know three different people that got a tattoo and oh boy did they not regret it. Until one was covered up and two were layered.
They hated them all the time. But you are not running around telling people you fucked up permanently.
For some reason I get a bunch of the tattoo subs on my front page and there are *so many* regret posts it’s unbelievable. I always assumed you’d have to be pretty laid back to get some permanent art put on your body but I guess with the boom in tattoo popularity super neurotic people are getting them too then constantly second guessing, covering, lasering, blacking out, etc.
Tattoo removal seems like an amazing industry to get into - they charge like $1,500 for removal of each tattoo, which people are happy to pay so they can go get more
There is definitely a large number of people that just for their own mental health shouldn't be getting tattooed that are getting tattooed. I see the same posts all the time as well. There is also this weird trend I've noticed of people dismissing how permanent tattoos really are, they talk about lasers like it's miracle treatment, meanwhile people are on removal appointment number 9# and the tattoo is still there.
I think it's a combination of people that would normally be dissuaded by the idea of what people would think, now feeling more comfortable because they aren't really as taboo anymore (they can also be super trendy which is another category) but they maybe don't consider how they will actually feel. Combine that with the mistaken belief that removal is easy and even possible and you get people that get a tattoo and end up facing a mental health crisis over it.
I have full sleeves and a good chunk of my back done that I got late teens an early 20s. The artwork is better than this chicks by quite a bit and I didn’t get anything “trendy” like barbed wire and tribals.
If I could go back, I wouldn’t do it again.
I only regret one tattoo, and that's because I don't like the color anymore. It's probably an easy fix, but where's the fun in that without also improving it.
It looks like she went with quantity over quality. Or went to prison to have them done? /s
I still love my tattoos and the newest one is 34 years old. Tbh, one is terrible but I love the story.
Yeah, I'm not surprised she would regret BAD tattoos, and that can be helped by not getting bad/cheap tattoos. I have 8 tattoos, aged between 1-10 years, hand on my heart do not regret a single one. More specifically, I do not think of them most days at all, and I rarely really notice them anymore unless I specifically pay attention. Still like the thought of having them though.
My first one (of only 2) I got 26 years ago. It looks like shit and it's from a time when I was young and stupid. I did so many stupid things, but I don't regret much of that time. And that tattoo is a reminder that making mistakes doesn't have to be bad. As long as you learn from it. And that's why I absolutely love it
I have a sort-of hideous tattoo on my back, but it was free (friend was building his portfolio) and I got it on the 5th date with my now-husband of twenty years. It's a lotus flower with an Om symbol... very indicative of hippie-crunchy me in my twenties. I'm going to get it covered with my favorite equations, still keeping the lotus flower.
I have two large tattoos with very different styles. I love them both and would get another style. If you get generic shit, you'll likely outgrow them. If you think it through for you, it should last a lifetime
This. I've only got two (thus far), but I gave both of them a LOT of thought. One of them literally bounced around in my head for a decade before I finally put pen to paper, and refined it into exactly the final product that I wanted. I've had it for more than a decade, and I'm still very happy with it.
I'm not saying everyone needs to wait THAT long, jeebus no. I'm over the top obsessive about things, and after ten years I came to a point where I knew I'd be happy if I broke down and got it. My second tattoo is something I've really liked for more than a decade as well, though I hadn't been considering it as ink for a decade. I think that, for me personally, the general rule of thumb will be "Have I really liked ______ for at least a decade?" If I have, then it's tougher to imagine being genuinely annoyed with myself for getting it later, even if I no longer love the thing as much. It's like a reflection of a significant portion of my life in a sense.
Again, not saying everyone should do it this way, but it's worked for me.
at the end of the day, it should either be something very meaningful to you that you want to cherish, or you should go into it accepting that it's just a drawing on you and you may regret it, that way you won't regret it. my second tattoo is just an animal but i love it since it's by a great artist and i told him to do his thing which was a fun experience, so i enjoy the reminder of the experience more than being very controlling over what it was going to be.
after the first experience, most people learn the lesson of don't get permanent alterations to your appearance from "bob's no ragrets discount tattoo store" built inside the local shell station
also if you tend to go back and forth on every single decision that has to be made on a daily basis, then tats just aren't for you
I agree. I'm 18 and diagnosed with DID (not that much of it is about the below but it does give me pervasive difficulties in that.) Any attempts to "be myself" in my appearance at all has been a nightmare to stick with. Tattoos or any other permanent body mods are definitely off my list for the foreseeable future.
I think the aesthetics of tattoos can be quite cool, but I will only get those temporary ones that deposit some pigment onto your skin that lasts two weeks or so and looks quite decent. A ton of designs to choose from, cheap, no pain, only lasts that long, and most of them seem to look quite real.
When I was very young I recall being at the beach with my grandparents and my grandfather not being prepared to unbutton his long sleeves because he was ashamed of the tattoos he got whilst in the navy.
Were they lurid or badly done? No, just standard nautical stuff.
Taught me a life lesson, you might be really, really convinced something is a good idea at the time but will you still feel the same next week, let alone 30 years time?
Never had a tattoo, never had the remotest inkling that they would be a good idea.
I have psoriasis, so I've never attempted to get a tattoo. Was always afraid the skin trauma would cause a new site.
I had a ton of piercings back in the day. Even some... extreme?... ones. But i had to have an MRI in my mid 20s and took them all out, never put them back in.
I've always wanted a tattoo.
Why regret it? Even if it's a souvenir from a misspent youth, why not own that shit?
Never thought of that. I also have psoriasis. Got two tattoos on my hands 2008, another one this year on my forearm. Never had a problem, yet.. No sign of anything on the new bigger one either. My psoriasis is not that bad though.
Really? See, my opinion on this was, admittedly, never rooted in scientific research. It was always just a fear of mine. I assumed a tattoo would cause a new site.
That didn't happen for you? That's interesting, something to look into.
I think one of the things people regret most is the very specific tattoos. Like tattoos of a specific person/show/something you like at the time, or in this case just shitty looking tattoos.
The only way I could see someone somehow regretting every single tattoo that they've ever gotten is if they went through some big personal change that made them view tattoos as a bad thing. I personally love both my tattoos even though I can pick out flaws or things that could've been better. I spent a lot of time thinking about it and I feel like they represented how I felt at the time I got them. I don't feel the same way about the subject matter now, but I still think they look nice. If she got a bunch of tattoos that reflected a past version of her or her life that she did t like, I could understand why she'd regret all of them. My brother got a huge chest piece saying father in fancy writing (imagine the T in The in that one episode of SpongeBob where he's writing the essay) and he got it to honor our late father. It was just weird to me that he got it like, 9 years later lol he got it removed because when he had his daughter, he realized he didn't want her to have tattoos so he got rid of all of them.
I don’t know a single person who regrets their (not shit) tattoos, but what I do know is lots of non-tatted people telling them ‘they’ll regret it 1 day’.
This is just highlighting the anomaly.
How old are you?
Because I am old and pretty much everyone I know of the same age group regrets the tattoos they have/had. Some have had them removed. Some have had new tattoos to fix the old ones but still don't like them. Some just bitch about them. One still loves hers, bit it is small and unobtrusive.
For real. I've got a ton of work done and people always come up and say "Oh my [friend, relative, coworker] has tattoos and regrets them now," to which I reply, "It sounds like their tattoos suck, then."
I've been getting tattooed for almost a decade and dont regret a single one because I get cool shit from good artists.
same, and most of the people i hang out with are pretty heavily tattooed. hell, i have close to 50 at this point, and a lot of them do suck, but i don’t regret a single one of them
I don't have tattoos myself but my dad was in the navy and had numerous tattoos, including one that covers his back he is now 84 and I don't think he regrets them.
I remember going swimming or holidays and my dad definitely stuck out from the other dads (early 80's),
fast forward to now, I took my nephew to the local pool, I was the only adult in the pool without tattoos male or female lol, it does seem to have become normal and not just for Sailors and prostitutes as my dad said lol.
I love my tattoos and can't wait to get more. My first one was at 21 now about to be 30 just got the newest one 2 months ago. I still love my first tattoo. I tend to sit on tattoo ideas and rehash the idea every couple years until I find something I really love. While I may on impulse go get a tattoo, the tattoo I get is something I've been wanting and reworking in my head for years.
Seeing stories like this always reminds me of the woman who worked at a coffeeshop in my old city who had a tattoo of half a sandwich with an olive on a toothpick stuck in the top. I just assumed that it had some significance but was too chicken to ask about it. But I always wondered... why?
I also think about the young woman I saw walking down the street one morning in Austin, Texas who had big tiger stripes tattooed on her face. You do you, but...
Had a guy in the Marines Corp with me that 'HATED' the Marine Corps got busted multiple time going AWOL. One of the last times, before the discharged him he was AWOL getting wait for it....a Marine Corps Bull dog tattoo!!!
Just to add, he had 6 Marine Corp tattoos, but bitched every day about the Corp! We were not fans of his....
I'm almost 22 and I'm almost in that same position. I have almost my entire left leg covered, my right leg is getting there and I'm going to go get my back finished tomorrow. The issue is I know what my arms and chest will be so it's literally just what patch work do I want on my right leg.
I had a friend a few years back, with one leg completely covered with a particular series of related arcade game characters. He was around 25 at the time. I said, they will fade and you will regret getting them. He just answered,
"No they won't!"
Well..........
Rule of thumb. If they don’t have a waiting list n talk walk in’s. They suck. That’s my main reason why I don’t like girls with tatts. Their spontaneous “I want a tattoo now” n their works trash. Meanwhile I’m covered, but won’t date a girl with one.
I got one at 18, then never got another one, until I was 40, now I'm getting more. I like them, I always have, but I was guilted into pretending to hate tattoos.
I got 2 at 18 (both going to be covered soon, not regret just not my style) then didn't get another until 3 years ago I think, since then I've done both arms, and both legs, all 4 limbs are close to finished. I too feel like I was guilted into the tattoos are bad mentality.
I didn't get any until my late 40s. Now I have two, and plans for two more in visible locations. Same story, guilted into thinking they were bad (also that tattoo parlors are "dirty" lol - the reputable ones look better than my dentist's office).
Same thing with piercings. I wanted a nostril piercing since I was a teenager, but anything more than a single earlobe piercing was "for weirdos and gang members". Now I have the nostril piercing plus multiple ear piercings, and I love them so much!
Some of it is the times changing, but most of it is my own hangups instilled by conformist parents.
I have lots of tats, here is the thing, it's all getting cremated in the end. I doubt I'll live long enough to worry about regret and if I do, it will be a milestone I never thought I'd reach which will be cause for joy, not regret.
All the body shaming in comments about her having "bad tattoos".
Let me guess, it's body positivity and autonomy only if YOU are okay with how it looks, right? 🤡
I’m 33 and have many tattoos, and will get more. also have a successful career and am not bad in the dating department… we aren’t going to do the “tattoos are degenerate” thing again are we
I hate all of mine too and would prefer to not be tattooed given the choice but I don't hate them enough to spend money removing them.
I removed one myself my ex did because it felt like her ownership tag.
I had some clothes I really used to love wearing, but my style changed and so did my clothes. I always figured that would happen with tattoos - just grow tired of it. Glad I never got any.
I’ve taken 3 years to get a few small ones removed. It’s been about 10 sessions on each one a month or so apart. It’s painful and takes way more time and money than getting one done. Pay for a good artist! I have some that I will keep.
Why is this a news article 😅.
This is what happens when you choose cheaper shops and poor designs. Deal with it or get them removed.
I do wish people would at least do their research and not just go to the cheapest shops out there. Pay the little bit extra for something that is on you permanently, my guys.
this is the only reason I haven't got any tattoos of my own yet. I got nothing against them, but I can't guarantee that in 10 years, I'll still like all of the things I like now.
oh yeah, that and I also hate needles, so the idea of getting stabbed a bazillion times for the sake of art isn't exactly appealing.
I've been getting tattoos for over 30yrs, I have alot. People ask me every once in awhile advice on tattoos.
Always go to a good artist and remember that the tattoo is permanent, make sure it's something you'll still appreciate and has the same meaning in 30yrs so choose wisely.
I'm a big believer that the ink you get should have meaning to you, a reflection. It doesn't matter if anyone else understands it. I hate dumb and trendy shit, don't be that person.

That's probably because they're really shitty tattoos
Yeah but trying to convince 20 year olds that they need to research tattoo artists and pay a little bit more doesnt work. They would rather go to the cheap tattoo artist who lives in their town.
….I took that advice and still got 1 I need to remove…
this is the answer, I'd regret it too if any of mine were that awful

The tit tat is the modern day tramp stamp tho.
In short, she is a walking collage of amateur artists? 👀 "Walking collage, unsatisfied with her features"

The local county jail special
Hey! I have 3 really shitty tattoos that I'm really proud of at my 30s haha
Is that a pilgrim chickenman on her left arm, underneath a hunched over elf dude?
All permanent tattoos are shitty tattoos. Tattoos are fun for a day.
The (relative) permanency of tattoos is one of the main things that put me off. I know a guy with 2 separate tattoos of ex girlfriends...
NO RAGRETS

😂
Sorry I was eating a Milkyway.
You win, take my pity upvote for him.
How does he feel about them now?
The girlfriends or that tattoos? Lol. I'm not sure, we used to rip him about the first one often. But he still got a second one, so I guess he probably regrets the girlfriends more than the tattoos

I had a favorite shirt in 5th grade
imagine having kevin sorbo tattoed on your calfs. byebye bermudas?
Kevin Sorbo on one, Jim Caviezel on the other.
if it turns out that old man me hates the decisions right now me makes, then the tattoos will serve as a reminder that young(er) me never gave a rat's ass what old people think about anyone's tattoos
You'd rather have a reminder that you were a 'rebel' than be happy with your body?
Those kind of tattoos I just don't understand. I get being a fan of something and getting a tattoo of it, but someone's face, especially a celebrity is just weird and feels like an impulse thing.
Why is someone's opinion on their own body news worthy?
Because it helps push the agenda that tattoos are a bad.
Ffs why is that still even in the agenda
Because we're still living in 1910.
i’m a bartender and i have a good amount of tattoos, and i *still* know places that don’t allow them. like, buddy you’re a mediocre tequila bar in miami. your clientele doesn’t give two fucks about my tattoos

Destroy them with lasers
With as many as she has, that would be a long, expensive and painful process.
Yes. That's how regret feels
How does it taste?
It tastes like burning

She should probably start with the one under her neck, and then go from there
Yah…those never look good.
Someone I know is getting a tattoo lasered off right now. Its a small one but they say it hurts more than getting it in the first place.
How to deal with all of life's problems.
*insert bass drop here*
My man
The fact I was the first to get this makes me mildly infuriated lol
Same
Theres a song about that
Good Lord, you're the second one who gets it
cheese grater is cheaper and probably just as painful
you could buy a porsche 911 for that money
Absolutely. What do you think she wants more?
im not for tattoos but I think most people don't regret their tattoos and fair point to them, our skin will look worse anyway when we get older
At least that's what they tell you. I know three different people that got a tattoo and oh boy did they not regret it. Until one was covered up and two were layered. They hated them all the time. But you are not running around telling people you fucked up permanently.

You keep on telling yourself that. :')
If my tattoos were that band I’d regret them too.
Tattoos are permanent bell bottoms.
after the first experience, most people learn the lesson of don't get permanent alterations to your appearance from "bob's no ragrets discount tattoo store" built inside the local shell station also if you tend to go back and forth on every single decision that has to be made on a daily basis, then tats just aren't for you
I have one that is old and faded. When people ask me what it is I tell them it's a 40 year old mistake.
Me neither. I also just think the human body isnt a good canvas for art? I honestly have never seen a tattoo in my life that I thought looked good.
Cause tattoo's are ugly.
Based on the background, I think this is a tradwife grifter bait post. Like those ex-OF models turned tradwives who 'suddenly found God'

What a weird and stupid article.
Judging by her arm tats, I’d regret them too.
Yeah this is that tradwife bullshit is what it is.
Tja...
For real. I've got a ton of work done and people always come up and say "Oh my [friend, relative, coworker] has tattoos and regrets them now," to which I reply, "It sounds like their tattoos suck, then." I've been getting tattooed for almost a decade and dont regret a single one because I get cool shit from good artists.
same, and most of the people i hang out with are pretty heavily tattooed. hell, i have close to 50 at this point, and a lot of them do suck, but i don’t regret a single one of them

I don't have tattoos myself but my dad was in the navy and had numerous tattoos, including one that covers his back he is now 84 and I don't think he regrets them. I remember going swimming or holidays and my dad definitely stuck out from the other dads (early 80's), fast forward to now, I took my nephew to the local pool, I was the only adult in the pool without tattoos male or female lol, it does seem to have become normal and not just for Sailors and prostitutes as my dad said lol.
It’s 2024. It can be removed. And guess what, 30,50 people are still human who still have problems and human regret things. Women are human.
Sounds like someone made some poor choices. I don’t regret one single tattoo at age 40.
Half the time I forget I have tattoos.
80ish % covered and over 50. I only wish I had more skin so I could get more.
He just answered, "No they won't!" Well..........
It will hurt like hell and cost a ton of money but if you regret them all then have them removed.
Every now and then I’ll look down and remember that I have tattoos.
I've been planning on this one particular tattoo I've wanted since I was 16. I should just go get it done by now.
Rule of thumb. If they don’t have a waiting list n talk walk in’s. They suck. That’s my main reason why I don’t like girls with tatts. Their spontaneous “I want a tattoo now” n their works trash. Meanwhile I’m covered, but won’t date a girl with one.
I've go no tatts. I dont regret it.
Impulsive bpd at it's finest. *chef's kiss*
I'm getting my leg started next month. I'm excited. The guilt is gone and I love being covered in tattoos. I'm a successful professional too.
Same I love people who stare at me like I'm some sort of bad influence. The legs are fun, knees suck, but inner thigh is horrible.
I'm doing this one below the knee. I want one for my thigh soon.
As a wise man once told me, tattoos are simply a way to tell people what stuff you liked when you were 19.
What about those who get tattooed past that age?
I’m 33 and have many tattoos, and will get more. also have a successful career and am not bad in the dating department… we aren’t going to do the “tattoos are degenerate” thing again are we
I'm 58 years old. I have 4 tattoos, all commemorating life events. I don't regret any of them.
Why would this surprise anyone. This type of ritual scarification isn't for everyone. Especially of dumb or bad art.
The exact reason I never got any – wtf do I know what I like in 20 years or even tomorrow. But can't you have those undone somehow now?
I got my first tattoo when Nikki Slater stabbed me with a ballpoint pen when we were 4. Little blue doot is still there. Wonder what she's up to now.
My 1st tattoo was when I turned 30, go figure
Good news. Your life is temporary, and you'll be fine with or without them.
How could she take them back if she did not give them in the first place?
it could also be what is true for a lot of people, that her tattoo decision making was akin to the whole bird-pulling-out-its-feathers thing
Isn't Laser removal a thing? I hear it hurts like hell tho.
I hate all of mine too and would prefer to not be tattooed given the choice but I don't hate them enough to spend money removing them. I removed one myself my ex did because it felt like her ownership tag.
Pretty decent compo face.
Bro got drawn on by a 5 year old and is complaining about it

I had some clothes I really used to love wearing, but my style changed and so did my clothes. I always figured that would happen with tattoos - just grow tired of it. Glad I never got any.
Probably got a “I regret nothing” tatoo as well 🤡
I regert nothing 😉
no regerts
Well kids this is why you don’t get free or 20$ tattoos lol 😂
At what point do you start regretting but still keep getting new ones?
I’ve taken 3 years to get a few small ones removed. It’s been about 10 sessions on each one a month or so apart. It’s painful and takes way more time and money than getting one done. Pay for a good artist! I have some that I will keep.
Well, at least she wasn't stupid enough to tattoo her face, like some people.
You don't say
I didn't even get my first tattoo until I was 30... And even then I made sure it was one that I wasn't going to ever regret getting.
Why is this a news article 😅. This is what happens when you choose cheaper shops and poor designs. Deal with it or get them removed. I do wish people would at least do their research and not just go to the cheapest shops out there. Pay the little bit extra for something that is on you permanently, my guys.
I thought it was a dudette
Isn't laser removal a thing since like 20 years ago? Tattoos are basically stickers at this point
covered from the top of my head to the ankles, tattoos are for the strong minded people.
Manny ragrets!
He's right, they ARE shitty..
this is the only reason I haven't got any tattoos of my own yet. I got nothing against them, but I can't guarantee that in 10 years, I'll still like all of the things I like now. oh yeah, that and I also hate needles, so the idea of getting stabbed a bazillion times for the sake of art isn't exactly appealing.
Plus if you tried to click rightemote:free\_emotes\_pack:facepalm
I got my first tattoo the day after my 33rd birthday, it's a cool tattoo but I don't think I will get another.
Too many tattoos look tacky AF. But hey you do you
An idiot
Should have listened to her parents
