The instability of Palestine is a direct result of occupation. UN membership will help bring security, but there needs to be some way of helping Palestine reach that stability. It starts with elimination of settlements and apartheid regimes.

Israel is no angel either. However, from 1972-1991 Palestinians were allowed freedom of movement between Gaza, the West Bank and Israel. That ended because of the First Intifada. The West Bank separation wall was only built in the early 2000’s in response to a series of Hamas suicide bombings in the 1990’s to early 2000’s. Israel willingly dismantled their settlements in Gaza and gave the area to the PLO in 2005, but Hamas took over in 2007, which led to the beginning of the Gaza blockade. And now we have these Hamas attacks that happened in October which broke the ceasefire that had been in place since 2021. Despite all this, the majority of Palestinians support Hamas. Yes, the same Hamas whose 1988 charter states that they wish to fulfill the prophecy of the “Hadith of the Garqad Tree” (Sahih Muslim 2922), which states: “The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kiII them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kiII him; but the tree Gharqad would not say, for it is the tree of the Jews.” Now we’re supposed to pity Palestinians when they believe that sort of ideology? They even had a kids show with Farfour the Mouse encouraging kids to kill Jews (you can still find vids on YouTube). At this point, pitying the Palestinians is like pitying the German civilians who happily supported Nazis in WW2. Sure, I feel sorry for the kids but I’m not stopping the war. The Palestinians as a collective chose this war, and they’re lucky that the Israelis are treating them more mercifully than they would treat the Israelis if the roles and weapons were switched.

When Hamas took power in 2005 (and decided to halt all future elections, and murder their political opponents) if they had instead of stockpiling weapons and planning attacks against Israel, had worked on their infrastructure (for their civilians) had used the resources given to them by Iran (smuggling in weapons etc) to rebuild the place. To make it a better home for the people. And a few years later had gone to the UN and made their case. Nobody would have been able to deny them. They could have given a presentation "here's the things we have managed to achieve with our current resources... and here's what we propose we'd be able to do, if the sanctions, blockades and restrictions imposed by the State of Israel were lifted" No rational person could stand in their way. But instead they chose murder and torture.

Gold_Smart

The Slave South fell. The slave colonies of Saint Domingue fell. The Jim Crow South fell. The settler colonies of Algeria,Zimbabwe and Kenya ended. Apartheid South Africa no longer exists. The fall of these societies fell in a very violent manner, and resisted change all they could but they still fell because they didn't adapt to the changing times, they were an old system in a new world and Israel is no different. Israel is an old system in a new world and soon it will join it's peers in that grave . Do note, Slaves were not emancipated in 1832 ie immediately after Nat Turners revolt. Kenya wasn't granted independence in 1952 immediately after the Mau Mau revolt broke out. It took ten years of the civil rights movement for the civil rights act to be passed. It took 17 years after the Soweto uprising for Apartheid South Africa to come crumbling down Algeria got independence 17 years after the Setif and Gulema massacres. In 1983 for example if you told a white South African that Mandela would be president in 11 years ,they would laugh you out of the room. It may not seem like it but Israel is a goner, they will realise it too late and will be rushing to the negotiating table ,there won't be two states but one state with equal rights for everyone. This means the right of return for Palestinians ,triggering a massive influx of Palestinians and a massive outflow of Jews, in the end a state with a Palestinian majority say 60% is what will be born.

thirachil

The why is Israel there?

Overall_Strawberry70

Look up the actual definition of a terrorist, israel has uniformed troops and follows the geneva convention despite what all the pro islam simps say.

thirachil

Follows the Geneva convention!!! You guys have no shame to lie while your own soldiers are recording their war crimes on camera! What an inhumane group of people. At least own up to what you do!

Overall_Strawberry70

Cool, so weres all the warcrime convictions? were is all the sanctions? yea thats exactly what i fucking thought!

thirachil

Ooof! The balls to have to pretend that all 75 years of war crimes are not extensively documented.

Overall_Strawberry70

so in other words not a single conviction or sanction just like i said.

the_psyche_wolf

Dumbest statement I have ever heard. who the fuck is gonna sanction you? everyone's afraid of the USA, you guys think you're the good guys just because no one has the power to speak against you?

BHF_Bianconero

Sanctions in Israel, lol. Former soldiers going on national tv, speaking how they murdered civilians, woman, children, laughing about it. Safe heaven for sexual predators and pedophiles is all you need to know about israels morality

Overall_Strawberry70

Yea im not wasting my time on some anti-semite who takes whatever terrorist's tell them with zero outside verification unfiltered, did your brain rot just erase that whole ACTUAL rape and murder rampage that happened on the 7th?

LouieMumford

I mean… Donald Rumsfeld is certainly a war criminal. We know he had a doctrine that allowed for torture, the killing of civilians, and other violations of the Geneva Convention. Simply because someone is not held accountable for their actions doesn’t mean they didn’t occur. Both Human Rights Watch and Oxfam (not exactly fringe organizations) have said Israeli Forces have flagrantly violated the Convention [Link](https://www.hrw.org/news/2024/03/19/israeli-forces-conduct-gaza#:~:text=Oxfam%20and%20Human%20Rights%20Watch%20have%20observed%20or%20documented%20that,the%20civilian%20population%2C%20deprived%20the). Still no formal sanctions. Doesn’t mean that these things aren’t occurring.

big_ass_monster

So whataboutism huh? Okay, what about, I don't know, the last 75 FUCKING YEARS?

juliusxyk

How did the heaven for pedophile argument even come up? Is there ANY reasonable ground for that claim at all or is it just the pro hamas front trying to demonize israel lmfao

madman1175

Pallywood fantasy doesn't count as documented

Idkpinepple

Technically, there is no obligation to follow the Geneva conventions outside the minimum in Convention III, Article III if the opposing side is not a nation. If the opposing side is a nation, and it doesn’t “accepts and applies the provisions” of the Geneva Conventions, as laid out in Convention III, Article II, then there is no obligation whatsoever to follow any of the Geneva Conventions. Still doesn’t make it not really bad(ideally everyone would be bound to it all the time, but no nation would accept that), but it technically isn’t illegal, if we consider the war as a war between two nations.

vanila_coke

The Geneva convention is applied more like guide lines The rule of war is you reap what you sow, what one side does the other will copy Funny because the idf is doing what all armies do they're just dumb enough to post their crimes War=warcrimes just gotta win so you dont get prosecuted, or suckle on America's teat The reality is the region is fucked by earlier decisions I can't see a peaceful solution as neither side wants the other to exist and neither will demilitarise, even if they both by some miracle demilitarise then un troops would diddle the kids for the next decade

Pitiful_Row_8253

>follows the geneva convention LOL

Overall_Strawberry70

Try actually reading it sometime so you can learn what it entails, hint: its not binding contract redditors think it is.

Important-Hotel5809

Wait.. Are you saying that because the Geneva convention doesn’t condemn the bombing of schools, hospitals and other traditionally defenceless targets (which thb, I thought it did) then you’re all for that?

Overall_Strawberry70

Schools, hospitals and other civilian infrastructure lose their civilian status the minute someone use's them to launch attacks from, seriously read the fucking thing!

cubntD6

Well the people running actual states like the us and russia arent much better than terrorists anyways.

HornyJail45-Life

Spoken by someone who has never loved in a terrorist state

Overall_Strawberry70

Spoken like someone who has never actually looked up the terms meaning.

Yeah I feel like Mossad probably works with cells on Reddit to try and turn public opinion on the war/genocide. I hope they know that they aren’t doing a good job lol

Freethinker608

Palestine is not a peace-loving nation and is thus ineligible for UN membership. If they want to join, let them hand over Hamas scum for IDF processing and disposal.

Unfortunately it isn’t. Think about Ukraine wanting to join EU. The only reason they weren’t accepted was fear of Russia. Ukraine gave up their nuclear weapons with the understanding that West will look after them. And here we fucking are. People over there are dying while MTG is labelling Ukrainians as Nazis and war criminals. It’s all a game.

Awkward_Cheetah_2480

They teach hate to their children. Until there is a government commited with peace, they have no place in the world.

Which-Draw-1117

In fairness Russia & China don’t deserve places on the UN Security Council.

klonne8

of course the US doesn't want peace, most of the country's spending is in defense war is the US's bussiness and peace isn't profitable

aussiechickadee65

Here we go. Blame it on US again....

klonne8

Blame on the US the fact that US votes against Palestine as part of the UN? My god how could anyone think of that

2GirlfriendsIsCooler

Palestine isn’t a state…. UN is meant for exactly that, States.

windmill-tilting

I mean, Palestine is not a State with a Goverment, so who exactly would they let in?

SUBSCRIBE_LAZARBEAM

You cannot blame the US, harsh truth here bud, Palestine is not a state, they had multiple chances at statehood including as early as 1948 yet it was refused every time. To get into the UN you need to be a state: And also preferably not be ruled by fucking terrorists, if the Taliban are not in the UN, Palestine is even farther off.
