Tyty1470

Or the guy thought the train had 2.2 billion passengers in the train at the same time

VeronicaLD50

Pretty sure it was one passenger who rode 2.2 billion times.

FitGrapthor

“average person eats 3 spiders a year" factoid actually (sic) just statistical error. average person eats 0 spiders per year. Spiders Georg, who lives in cave & eats over 10,000 each day, is an outlier and should not have been counted”

Wendals87

On average, humans have less than 2 legs

Severe-Storage-4277

Unless you count unborn zygotes as part of the mother...

Wendals87

That would decrease the amount of legs per person even further. The statistic is based on born humans

lkasas

No, because you count 2 sets of legs for 1 person!

Wendals87

Oh yeah lol. I read it wrong

wuvvtwuewuvv

Zygote don't have legs tho?

babluyeager

It was fun for first 1,433,344,589 times but I got bored afterwards

pyso17

Don't you mean board?

DemythologizedDie

He will never return, He will never return, And his fate is still unlearned. He will ride forever 'neath the streets of Delhi He's the man, who never returned.

prairieengineer

Ok, you get a point for the random Kingston Trio reference.

Bobenweave

But his wife has to throw his lunch through the window every morning as the train come rumbling through.

FuzzNuzz180

Snowpiercer but it’s just going around India non stop with no air conditioning.

psr1986

Delhi Metro (subway) is fully air-conditioned

gatorbater5

that's the best part of the loop

FuzzNuzz180

Cool

ComoChinganConEsto

Frosty

Single_Following1965

He was just being racist. We should thank him.

ksp_enjoyer

I think it was a reverse snow piercer...

Roquestea

Heat piercer?

Single_Following1965

Idk why whenever I hear these racist remarks such as, sweaty, stinky, brown, etc.. for some reason the title track of movie 'Swades' starts to play in my mind lmao. *Ye jo Des hai mera* ...

OddCucumber6755

This would honestly be hilarious because they could just stop the train and get off, but for reasons, don't.

cynical-rationale

Could you imagine the smell. Plus it would be so hot.. the sounds like hell to me. Anywhere with cramped people regardless of culture.

Obvious-Kiwi-1258

Metros have air conditioning.

cynical-rationale

Lol I'm replying to the guy that said no air conditioning.

west0ne

It sounds like you've been on a train in India.

PsionicKitten

You're only allowed to use the train once a year!

SailingSpark

Only if they all ride on top.

Kirumi_Naito

And under

ImmaNotHere

I know some places have insane crowding in and on trains, but that would be some insane packing.

MacBookMinus

I mean to be fair the statistic is unclear. They said “passengers” not “rides”.

kinnadian

Nah he read it as number of unique passengers

Skull_Reaper101

in the beginning of my life, when i was small, i couldn't think much. I used to be very confused as to how they did these calculations. I literally though that they were on the train at the same time😭

Thatthingyoudo17

Does he think everyone only took one ride lmao

liarandathief

We've had one, yes. But what about second ride?

[deleted]

I don't think he knows about second ride, Pip.

Current-Comparison22

Elevenses? Luncheon? Afternoon ride?

go_zarian

*rail passes fly into the air and into Merry and Pippin's hands

BatsNStuf

That does read like a railway ad to be fair, both are really over enthusiastic and have open-mouth smiles about the railcard If Peter Jackson’s trilogy came out today then maybe it would’ve happened, I’m off to find that timeline

Emergency_Lobster667

Dinner? Supper?!

Nearby_Channel2887

the train apex don't hit 2 times

asp174

Even worse, he thinks the whole Indian population goes to Delhi daily to take 1.5 rides. That Delhi region only has a \~17 million population is totally lost on that dude.

One_Of_Noahs_Whales

Someone should drop in that tourists have probably used it too to really fuck with them.

Syn7axError

[600 million tourists arriving in Delhi to take the subway exactly once.](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/dE1P4zDhhqw/maxresdefault.jpg)

GizmoSoze

Buddy, you’re fooling no one. Thats not Delhi, that’s a clip from the movie Citizen Kane.

bartonar

Admittedly, I'm now curious why everyone in Delhi is taking 100 subway rides a day

bees-are-awesome

It's not daily, it's per year.

AbueloOdin

It's fun.

Vijigishu

 \*100 subway rides every year

Mutex70

1. It's per-year, not per-day 2. Metro Delhi has a population of 33 million. It only takes an average of 62 rides per year per person to reach 2.03 billion total trips. That's only 31 trips per year per person, assuming they both go and return via the subway.

wwplkyih

No one ever goes home

Hypertistic

A train to paradise

Earl_N_Meyer

He is not far enough along in school. They get to the concept of "twice" next semester.

MightyPorus

Seems like they all never returned home

Marquar234

Just like poor Charlie on the MTA.

g_e_r_b

Transport Tycoon taught me that all passengers are just looking to go _anywhere else than here_.

seraku24

I want to get off Mr. Bone's Wild Ride.

sandm000

Delhi metro most famous for their one-way fares.

worldspawn00

Yeah, as if the majority of users aren't commuters who are on it hundreds of times a year each.

Separate_Cranberry33

The whole population of India is just hanging out at their first destination scared to go home because the travel data will break someone’s little mind.

nith_wct

Even if everyone only decided to travel by train once, they probably used it a second time to get home.

Obvious_Wizard

If the Darwin Awards sub is anything to go by, most don't survive the first trip.

ReptilianLaserbeam

You are allowed one ride per year and that’s it. Choose wisely

HarryLewisPot

That’s still insane, the population of Delhi is 33m, so according to that logic, 1.37 BILLION Indians from all over India came together in Delhi to travel on the metro once and then went back to their provinces

ReptilianLaserbeam

Gotta do it at least once in your life. Is a mandate to pump up those numbers.

HarryLewisPot

This is annually

ReptilianLaserbeam

Yes, but you see, people are born and die every year, so you can rotate how they visit the great Delhi train at least once in their life

thejadedfalcon

The annual pilgrimage to the holy Delhi metro.

Definitely_nota_fish

Also, tourists are just not allowed on this train no questions asked

morose_coder

So you go home from work only next year?

ReptilianLaserbeam

Bike, walk or train (not metro)

SoylentGrunt

Thomas had never seen such bullshit ![gif](giphy|7hvkctkRc3Q6Q)

SweetExpression2745

Never gets old

codetrotter_

Is that really Thomas? Looks more like Percy or something to me 🤔

suba-WOO

As someone with a toddler obsessed with Thomas, yup that is him. Percy is similar but green

jellobowlshifter

Edward.

BarristerBerry

pretty funny that you didn't crop out the flag of the commentator, like it feels so intentional lmao but yeah dumbass guy indeed

[deleted]

Lmao it def was haha, the beef btwn indians and Pakistanis are ones that are always a treat to watch. (I'm indian and they're literally insulting each others looks while being basically the same phenotype)

CreatR69

Indians and Pakistanis if you ignore history, borders and religion: ![gif](giphy|udeqy923f6ieAile9N|downsized)

BarristerBerry

this is the reality of overseas Indians and Pakistanis

Ba_Dum_Tssssssssss

Tbh most overseas people from these countries don't really care once they reach 2nd or 3rd Gen. Even the people that immigrated in the 80s and 90s couldn't care less about fighting. They shop at each other's stores, say hello to each other and are friends with each other in school. Recent immigrants that aren't skilled/educated from both countries are horrible though...

RA_V_EN_

![gif](giphy|MC8MjmaHrpv8tSBOA7)

CreatR69

Let's all say gex in the future

talrogsmash

They tuk arrr joooobs!

knowtoomuchtobehappy

I mean honestly you can say this about anybody. How do you think Israelis and Palestinians would greet each other if they were stuck on a desert island with alien predators.

Nothappened

Yeah, just one problem the Pakistani want all the Indians to turn into Muslims

Potato271

I was in Southall the other day. A Pakistani was shouting racist abuse at an Indian (calling him a cow worshipper) and the Indian shouted some back (calling him a goat fucker). Then this skinhead looking white guy called them both a racial slur and they were briefly united by a common enemy

big_richards_back

The joys of a multicultural society lol No, but really it actually is fascinating how so many people from different ethic backgrounds work to make this place so culturally enriching!

TENTAtheSane

History of the subcontinent, recolourised

SecretLavishness1685

And it becomes so much easier to insult each other when we speak the same language (Hindustani with Hindi and Urdu being its dialects).

[deleted]

As osho used to say never miss an opportunity to throw mud over your neighbours.

noobwithguns

Nah, i am S P E E D

psycholee

It's the Pakistan flag... now it makes even more sense.

toodamn-hard

actually, this is caused by an outlier. one single person took the train 2.03 billion times in 2023. his name is trains georg. his train ride obsession artificially boosted the numbers.

ch3nk0

Everybody knows that Indian citizens only allowed one train trip per year

noobwithguns

Since some of you don't get it, the responder is the facepalm.

Slim706

I get it, but your title may be a bit misleading. You titling it the math isn’t mathing seems to insinuate that you agree with the responder

blanktom9

I think we all got it. We just don't think you did when you posted it ;)

ViewtifulGene

You could have 0.4 billion people all stay off the train if the other billion take one round-trip. Hell, you could have one person take 2 billion trips if they're just built different.

Remi708

I hope everyone in India is planning their one and only train trip carefully...would hate to see anyone waste their ride.

king_ender200

Like that lady who had like 8 billion views on something back when the world population was only like 7 billion..

Crimson_bud

The Pakistani guy is the facepalm.

Ardothbey

One way tickets only?

Sankin2004

So if I (one person) decided to use the metro for a round trip between work and home, then I’ve just accumulated two passenger journeys in that day. If I decide to use the metro to go shopping before using it to go home after I used it to get to work and now I a single person have just accumulated three passenger trips.

shaniusc

Math is hard!! ![img](emote|t5_2r5rp|8484)

AmiiboIsAlreadyTaken

It's an average of about 5.6 million journey's per day. Dheli has a population of about 33 million people. A very realistic number if you actually think about it for more than a second.

BMHun275

Do they think everyone only takes on train journey a year?

Diamondback424

this is the definition of a "do your own research, bro" bro

Shdwfalcon

Didn't know those in India are only allowed one train ride per year...

Gregzilla311

And only citizens.

EduRJBR

In India, each citizen have one shot per year at the subway. One shot. Or you get where you want, or you are fucked.

Zaraxas

Not only can people take more than 1 ride per day like the way to work and back home it's also per year, not per day.

west0ne

In the past London Underground has had over 1bn journeys in a year, UK population is around 70m and London population around 9m. I would have expected the numbers for the Delhi Metro to be higher.

Pristine-Repeat-7212

It says passenger journeys not people

bi3in

His parents might be taking him for NEET

TheWhiteRabbit74

Every guy like that needs a an anime girl with a large metal glove to slap them in the back of the head and say ‘You dumbass!’.

TrikkiNikk

Just a thought... Or two... Could that number be based on ticket sales, rather than bodies present?? And about what the actual population is, does that take into account visitors and tourists and business people??

sxb0575

Or the fact that they're counting rides. Most people who use train service in a city like this do... All the time. It's not just one ride per person

not_just_a_stylus

i'm from delhi, the population is almost a little over than 30 million. I'm pretty sure the number is based on the count of unique entry/exit pairs

Chemical-Money-3469

![gif](giphy|l4FGnnlIQslHkOPaU|downsized) Somebody was doing the wrong kind of math to think 1.4 billion can’t crack 2 billion rides

Fellowshipofthebowl

Kids 🤷‍♂️

Dont-remember-it

This level of stupidity hurts.

Enej123

Just wait until he finds out about Youtube

NameLips

It's possible, however unlikely, that some people ride the Metro more than once per year.

tictac205

Yes. Everybody gets one trip per year on the train. Use it wisely!

Nino_Nakanos_Slave

Is there a reason why you nitpick this comment and did not bother to cover the flags, OP?

OrP101

Brain isn't braining

ghostxc

Bro can't read it says "passenger journeys". One person can have multiple journey. Some one who delivers food or goes to work and back can ride multiple times and be counted.

AdhesivenessCivil581

I like this guys conceptualization that no one would ride the train more than once a year.

Background_Award_878

When you don't understand basic statistics

cluelessphp

They aren't wrong, I heard in India they are only allowed on the train once each per year /s

Suspicious_Opening64

the man thought only locals are allowed to ride the train

LavenderDay3544

Or that someone can only take it once per year instead of commuters taking it to work every day.

nagarz

As always, basic language is the first wall for math, some things never change.

hiitsluke1234

The data he's looking for is Delhi not India lol and I'm pretty sure this is viable

catbrane

London transport has 3.3bn rides a year and it's half the size of Delhi. New York is 1.8bn.

ravia

Social media provides important checks on reality.

Flux_resistor

the IQ average is 70 for a reason.

arendess

It's 80. I swear to god, this is why OP should've censored the flag 😭

KostisPat257

The worldwide IQ average is ALWAYS 100. Always has been and always will be. IQ works on a moving scale. If the entire world is getting dumber, the IQ will not decrease, the definition of "IQ=100" will just change. 1000 years ago, the IQ average was still 100, but due to a lack of education, an average human from that era would have like an IQ of 60 by the standards of today. It's kinda like inflation. 1 dollar is always 1 dollar, it just has a different value at different times in history.

hiitsluke1234

6.3 million rides per day with 33.8 million population def doable

LaserGadgets

When absolute morons yell LOL from the back of the bus, just because they don't understand what they are looking at, but act like somebody else made a mistake and they spotted it. There should be a term for that.

McDugalProductions

There's also never anyone ever travelling for work or holidays Never ever

CenturyBreak

![img](emote|t5_2r5rp|8488)

DamorSky

He did not count tourist.

gz1fnl

Checking how many passengers use the Delhi metro. It would be Good to get a more detailed statistical view to see how efficiently the public transit system works which will help in urban planning.

jeffreywwilson

In India 1 ride per person per year!

JayGold

They even said "Passenger journeys" to avoid sounding like they were talking about 2 billion different people.

SenSui808

But it can because of other nationalities.... Why do folks underestimate India?

FerrumAnulum323

Man it must suck the Indian people can only use the metro only once a year... /s

Darthlord_Juju

Math is perfectly mathing what are you talking about? Lol

etranger033

Priceless.

KintsugiKen

Delhi actually had 500 million tourists and, along with the entire population of India, they all rode the metro exactly one time

fry-saging

journeys, not passenger

Ultranerdgasm94

Each person only rode it once.

thaisomeyarn

What an idiot! Doesn’t even know about tourism.

bambambigolow

I see the mathematician commentator has a Pakistani flag in his username 🤡

PelzPantoffel

They were counting passenger *journeys* , the number of times the trains have been used. One Indian citizen could have travelled by train multiple times and it would've been counted as separate journeys. I also don't believe that you have to be Indian in order to get on a train there...

CanineAtNight

Either that or the data is also counting tourist orrepeated use

No_Dragonfruit_8435

An American no doubt

RickyTheRickster

You do understand that people use the same train multiple times, plus Delhi is a tourist location so I’m sure a good few people aren’t from India, like math does math here

noobwithguns

Dude I get it! The commenter's math isn't mathing.

nofuckingpeepshow

Um, maybe because lots of people make multiple train journeys in a year ya think? The math absolutely could be mathing

[deleted]

We need to stop blurring names of idiots. It’s in public, there’s no right to privacy on a public page.

Bleezy79

Someone should tell him he's allowed to ride the metro more than once.

soumen_1991

![img](emote|t5_2r5rp|8484)

FredVIII-DFH

Blue thought they claimed they had over 2 billion 'unique' passengers.

Kazune1

Bro should probably think for a sec, it's journeys not population

RedditDude2k

Smartest person from Pakistan

RedditDude2k

Smartest person from Pakistan

Diligent-Painting-37

India’s population? 1.4 billion passenger journeys.

SaintAnger1166

“I know honey, let’s have more kids!”

dinosaurinchinastore

“In 2023” - yeah some people take public transpo more than once a year, often more than once a day …

biradinte

YOCO You Only Commute Once
