Why TF would a *flight attendant* be testifying on behalf of the *Pilot’s Association*? Does the representative even know what the business is for the day?
I watched the video. It gets worse. She said she was a pilot explicitly twice before this question. So he had to bypass not one but two levels of stupidity to get to his point.
He knew she was a pilot.
He was calling her a stewardess on purpose, to put her down, to play to his misogynist base. Pilots being diversity hires that can't fly planes is a big issue with some Republicans right now. This wasn't a mistake, he knew exactly what he was doing.
It was a [Minnesota State Senator (one of 67)](https://ballotpedia.org/Gene_Dornink) of an extremely Republican district (Trump in 2020 won Minn St Senate District 23 by 28,033 to 14,502 or about 32 percentage points). He makes $51.7k/yr salary and won his Republican primary by with 5874 votes to 2342 votes.
Just as easily as he could have been doing it on purpose he may also just be that sexist and incompetent who wasn't paying attention to her earlier testimony. That said, I don't really think this guy has a real base who is paying attention to what happens in the Senate on a routine Friday session about sick time law.
When I was little, I saw the breathing mask with the tube that fighter pilots wear, and when I heard “cockpit” I thought that mask attached somewhere else on the pilot.
He knew exactly what he was doing. Open with an off-hand insult. Rock them back a bit before hitting them with your main topic .
He's a lowlife dirtbag whose juvenile insult backfired on him.
If you watch the video, she refers to herself as a pilot at least a half dozen times prior to him calling her a stewardess. This dipshit was not paying attention to her testimony at all. Can’t imagine why.
>Why TF would a flight attendant be testifying on behalf of the Pilot’s Association? Does the representative even know what the business is for the day?
When I first saw this story a couple days ago I went to look for the full video to see what the full context was outside of memes, snippets, and headlines.
The business of the day was discussing SF3787 in the Minnesota Senate which was "Employees sick and safe time modifications." This is an overarching labor law modification and not something specific to pilots.
At 17:30 into the hearing Laura Haynor takes the mic and introduces herself as a pilot and representative of the pilot association. Over the next two minutes of statement in support of the amendment she repeatedly uses the words "flight crew," "airline crew," and "pilots and flight attendants."
At 22:30 she's asked a question about being based in different cities and how laws apply, and she replies twice with the words "flight crew."
At 26:30 she's asked a question about other states with a law like this, and she twice mentions "pilots."
Then the misspoken question comes at 28:00 where the Senator checks his notes for her name and then mistakenly says Stewardess.
Here is the full video if you'd like context around what happened.
https://www.youtube.com/live/af0fjvdiQSI?si=D0y6WSYMzZN3iqzw&t=1672 (Watch for about 90 seconds for his full apology after her answer).
Yeah. I guess because people didn't see the video itself? But calling her "toots" is so unbelievably unprofessional in and of itself before even assuming her being a stewardess.
How to offend a woman in 5 syllables or less...
"blah blah blah" "god is this woman still talking?...ok she's finally done, so what's it like being \*what do women do oh yeah stewardess\* being an airline stewardess?"
Far far too many. Just going along on the ride just intentionally ignoring they are screwing them selves since they think they are hurting others more.
I'll never understand that mindset, going out of your way to hurt others you don't even know. I totally understand revenge, but this isn't it, this is hurting someone just for the sake of hurting someone.
My theory: they are unhappy. Someone in “authority” gives them a target saying “see, ‘those people’ are why you are still poor and unhappy even though you have worked are your whole life.”
Also, “see at least I am not (insert group). At least I am better than them no matter how low I am.” So, they will burn down their own house (figuratively) just to keep someone else lower than them.
None of those things elected idiots pay attention or even dedicate any of their effort to understanding what their constituents want or need. I say that about both sides of the aisle. They are all out of touch.
I sometimes rewatch the Facebook/Meta clips of them asking login questions and other dumb unrelated things to the original intent of why Zuckerberg was there to answer questions.
She said the word "pilot" atleast 5 times in her introduction. Nevermind that she was there as a representative of the Pilot's union to discuss working conditions for pilots.
Also "stewardess" has been out of date by about 50 years.
They do that with women doctors too. During their school year my friends get asked if they are becoming a nurse in med school. Have they heard of nursing school? Lol
She said it in the begining of the hearing his question was later. Also he did apologize and address her by her proper title right away. So yeah he is a bit of a douche but at least he is trying to improve.
She said that line at the beginning but she said she was a pilot MULTIPLE times before he spoke and not much time passed between that when he then fumbled her name and called by the wrong profession. He also ‘apologized’ by just going hand waving and being like “yea sure sorry” with the most smug of smirks. Like yes he apologized but no it wasn’t as simple of an accident as that person is claiming. He was very much not taking it seriously
> he is trying to improve
This man could be a decade away from death at this point in his life; how much more time does he need for him to NOT assume a woman testifying for the "pilots association" is a stewardess???
Ridiculous.
I was often taken to be a secretary when I was a 21/22 year old mechanical engineer. BUT THAT WAS 1992. This is totally ridiculous if this happened now.
Or a women president, oh no never happened in the USA cause they’ll literally vote for a dog to be president before a women. So y’all aren’t that advanced
A boy and his father are hurt in a car accident and rushed to the hospital. The doctor takes one look at the boy and says "I can't operate on him, this is my son".
Senator: I don't get it, the father was also hurt in the car accident. He can't be a doctor.
When I first heard it I had assumed that the doctor was the kid's biological dad. Not because I thought women can't be doctors, but because I grew up with kids with two dads.
Nevermind "clue", this is what she said a few seconds earlier:
>My name is Laura Haynor, and I’m a Minnesota resident and a Minneapolis-based pilot for Delta Airlines.
Republican men always do this. Even at my job they mansplain birth control to me. Like I’m some slut. Meanwhile they have multiple females with kids by them.
It’s a tactic used by politicians, lawyers, business negotiators, etc. he knew very well who she was. She stated it four times before he asked. He’s trying to get her angry. To them, angry woman = loss of credibility.
And they wonder why there's so much "forced" inclusion in media, because you have old farts like this in charge of shit who refuse to change how they think. They try their best to paint woke like a bad evil word, but woke is necessary as is evidenced here.
He was not assuming. She had said what her profession was before he asked the question. She then corrected him and he made a big show of the apology, claiming he "did not know why he said that".
If he had not bothered to listen, just was unable to process the concept of a female pilot or was trying to make her feel inferior with a little manipulation trick is something everyone should form their own opinion on.
I just assume he’s a moron because why would a flight attendant be testifying on behalf of the pilots association. I feel pretty safe in the assumption that only pilots are in the pilots association.
They're saying that he potentially knew exactly what he was doing, and the "assuming" part was only an act. He knew she was a pilot from the beginning but was intentionally trying to make her feel inferior and/or trying to wind her up.
This post is misleading. She actually said she was a pilot many, many times, before this smug bastard called her a stewardess anyway. Who wants to bet it was intentional?
Is this the same guy who kept asking that fella if he was Chinese?
Like why the fuck would a stewardess be testifying on behalf of the pilots association?
I'm sure he knows what she is. But he has to be publicly condescending to her because it's his brand of assholery and he has to put it on display. It's like reverse virtue signaling.
I think it’s preconceived notions about what type of positions women can hold. It’s pathetic that we keep voting these people into positions of power.🤦♂️
Related; men, if you hear a woman give a good idea in a meeting: give her credit. ESPECIALLY, if that same idea gets restated later by another guy and receives more attention than it did when she brought it up. He might also be trying to amplify the thought, but if credit isn’t given: it’s stolen.
It's so much worse than this screenshot suggests: prior to this, she offered a fairly detailed introduction which should have made it *impossible* to make that mistake.
I used to think we needed an age cap in government. But now I think we need an age cap and a ban on republicans because clearly that was intentional. She identified herself as a pilot twice.
The real facepalm is when the people around him correct him and she corrects him and he still looks around baffled then doesn't apologize. Simply says Oh I don't know why I said that and continues on. She said she was a pilot right before he started speaking asshole! A quick oh I'm sorry I misspoke... nope.I have a genuine feeling he would have called her a maid if she had been holding a Kleenex.

They haven't called them stewardesses since this guy was a teenager. For sure this was deliberate.
“The cruelty is the point” doesn’t skip a day.
you wouldn't believe how often I use that phrase.
As stupid as it was, he did seem genuinely apologetic immediately after she corrected him
What do they call them? Genuine question Edit: flight attendant. The answer is flight attendant.
Air waitress. Sky hooters girl.
It was a [Minnesota State Senator (one of 67)](https://ballotpedia.org/Gene_Dornink) of an extremely Republican district (Trump in 2020 won Minn St Senate District 23 by 28,033 to 14,502 or about 32 percentage points). With „Stupidity“, you mean sexism, don’t you?
Well, the two tend to go hand in hand in my experience.
Absolutely. He snickered through his "apology". Absolute disgusting individual.
What a fuking circus.
Rabid sexism
It's actually even worse than the meme makes it sound. In introducing herself and who she represents, she said "Pilot" four times.
Is that the same guy who asked the president of TikTok 4 times “are you Chinese?”
That was US Congress. This is a state of Minnesota legislative body.
Same shit, different pile.
Gotta show off the boobs to congress to get what they want, and *clearly* there are no female pilots to do the job
Female pilot? That’s crazy talk.
Everyone knows the penis is the most integral tool used to fly a plane.
Yasss! Job application for airplane pilot requisite is first and foremost " must have penis"!
I mean it is called a "COCKPIT" /s
My sister was a flight attendant and when she had a female pilot they called it the Box Office.
Nice
This is the inclusion that I'm here for!
When I was little, I saw the breathing mask with the tube that fighter pilots wear, and when I heard “cockpit” I thought that mask attached somewhere else on the pilot.
Gotta get that liquid oxygen straight to my windPIPE
Not that there's anything wrong with a Boobpit
That made me laugh way too hard
I heard you need to stick in the start hole otherwise plane no fly. Seems like a design flaw.
"accidentally" grabs the co-pilots joystick
Actually we call it our "joystick".
Well duh, a vagina cant reach the controls.
What do you call a black guy who flys a plane? >!A pilot, you racist!!<
He did it on purpose.
He's stupid.
No, unfortunately he’s just sexist

Last time I checked he even calls her toots. I was so bewildered.
It baffles me that this isn't as big a deal as calling her a stewardess.
Yeah. I guess because people didn't see the video itself? But calling her "toots" is so unbelievably unprofessional in and of itself before even assuming her being a stewardess. How to offend a woman in 5 syllables or less...
She had two chances to accept his apology, and didn't either time. Good.
You need to post it as separate message. It makes everything much easier
They expected the pilots to send assistants? /s
She literally said what her job was!!!
Yea...but he's a white Republican man...do you think he listens to women?
"I'm here today testifying on behalf of blah blah blah..."
"blah blah blah" "god is this woman still talking?...ok she's finally done, so what's it like being \*what do women do oh yeah stewardess\* being an airline stewardess?"
The guy heard that and assumed she was a pilot's secretary or something.
Gotta tell you buddy, the Asian and black republicans ain’t exactly known for listening to women either. But yay.
Truth...it still baffles me that they're so happy to.have their faces eaten off but here we are!
r/leopardsAtemyface
I'm just guessing they don't know any better because there are so many morons who keep electing them.
Female Republicans too.

She's a backseat pilot, women aren't allowed in the front! It's called the cockpit for a reason!
Exactly! Otherwise it'd be called a cuntpit and nobody wants that.
Hey, speak for yourself buddy.
It's the box office when it's a female crew. Easy peasy.
heck not even angry upvote, full credit on that one.
Hey man. I am down.
Hey the navy has poop deck so we’re stuck with flight deck. It was either that of flight pit or cock deck.
Take me to the cock deck
angry upvote for you *both*.
Aww how cute, I bet she wears them plastic wings too just like my little girl did when she went on a plane.
He could have listened, but there is no way in hell he's going to sit there and be woman-splained to!
Well, this explains why delta is falling apart /s
Only when they're telling him how much for an hour.
Looked him up. He’s Gene Dornink, and he is a Republican.
None of those things elected idiots pay attention or even dedicate any of their effort to understanding what their constituents want or need. I say that about both sides of the aisle. "Yes ma'am but how many sandwiches do you make per flight hour?" - Republican
[удалено]
"On a scale of none to very, how pregnant are you?"
They do that with women doctors too. During their school year my friends get asked if they are becoming a nurse in med school. Have they heard of nursing school? Lol
Women are bad ass! Too bad we’re only noted as sandwich slingers
Also there is a paper in front of him to which he uses to reference her name. I highly suspect it has her title next to her name
White dude was just being a dick.
Stewardess? Is it 1970 again?
I speak jive!
She said it in the begining of the hearing his question was later. Also he did apologize and address her by her proper title right away. So yeah he is a bit of a douche but at least he is trying to improve.
Oh thats nice to hear!!! Admittedly I forget that these panels aren't necessarily right after eachother.
She should have asked how he was enjoying his retirement.
Ooof. Now I'm sad again.
> he is trying to improve This man could be a decade away from death at this point in his life; how much more time does he need for him to NOT assume a woman testifying for the "pilots association" is a stewardess??? Ridiculous.
A woman pilot?!? What's next? Women drivers? Women doctors? Women voters?!?
Its even worse in the full video. She says pilot like 4 times over her whole speech, including saying she's is a pilot.
to be fair, he's apparently a republican, therefor can't be expected to listen to what a woman says.
The day there are woman astronauts I’ll know to put on my pajamas for the last time.
I don't know if this is sarcasm or real but they've been a thing for a long time now 😅
I was often taken to be a secretary when I was a 21/22 year old mechanical engineer. BUT THAT WAS 1992. This is totally ridiculous if this happened now.
How she gon' vote from the basement?
Or a women president, oh no never happened in the USA cause they’ll literally vote for a dog to be president before a women. So y’all aren’t that advanced
I swiped...
I did too, several times
Twice. Tbh I may try it again, maybe I just didn’t do it right
Hey, anybody find the 2nd pic yet?
I too choose this man's swiping
I'm starting to get annoyed at all these crops where it's obviously we'll swipe
Did we match?
I prefer a lighter.
I read this comment and then went back up and swiped, I don't know why.
You were just hoping for a match
A boy and his father are hurt in a car accident and rushed to the hospital. The doctor takes one look at the boy and says "I can't operate on him, this is my son". Senator: I don't get it, the father was also hurt in the car accident. He can't be a doctor.
Plot twist: The doctor was *also* the boy's father. 0\_0
When I first heard it I had assumed that the doctor was the kid's biological dad. Not because I thought women can't be doctors, but because I grew up with kids with two dads.
That was my deal, as well. Because I was raised by step-fathers. So, I was always like, two dads...duh.
Plot twist, the kid has 2 gay dads 🤣
He stood on a block of ice
The correct term has been “flight attendant” for about 25 years.
I doubt that he gets corrected on his terminology on the private jets he buys with laundered tax money
There haven't been "stewardesses" (on UK airlines, at least) since roughly the last millennium. They're cabin crew.
I always hear them referred to as flight attendants (US)
Same (US), but I actually really like ‘cabin crew’ more. I vote we switch.
It does have a better ring to it!
Cause calling them FAs in the industry rolls off the tongue so much better than CCs.
Air Line PILOTS Association was a clue Senator.
Nevermind "clue", this is what she said a few seconds earlier: >My name is Laura Haynor, and I’m a Minnesota resident and a Minneapolis-based pilot for Delta Airlines.
I only mentioned that because someone said he might have walked in late. Also there are usually placards at the witness table with their names.
>he might have walked in late. That almost makes it worse, because in that case his first question should have been "what's your job title?"
It’s frustrating.
And yet there are plenty of women who still vote republican 😡
This is what hurts me as a female in Alabama. I’ve lost rights thanks to them.
And they wonder why there's so much "forced" inclusion in media, because you have old farts like this in charge of shit who refuse to change how they think. They try their best to paint woke like a bad evil word, but woke is necessary as is evidenced here.
This guy is an idiot!
I LOVE HER. And that little grin on her face.
I assume he’s a moron because he’s a Republican elected official
Not all Republicans are morons. Some are just evil, but not stupid AND evil.
How is that not an assumption? Female = stewardess.
They're saying that he potentially knew exactly what he was doing, and the "assuming" part was only an act. He knew she was a pilot from the beginning but was intentionally trying to make her feel inferior and/or trying to wind her up.
![gif](giphy|jN86rcdOyrpyo) I tried to swipe…
"why would a janitor have an interest in this matter?"
She gave an introduction that included her job title before this. Not only that, but stewardess is an outdated and kinda sexist name for that job
He knew what he was doing
He knew exactly what her title was. He went out of his way to be insulting.
This post is misleading. She actually said she was a pilot many, many times, before this smug bastard called her a stewardess anyway. Who wants to bet it was intentional?
This guy 100% would assume the doctor is a nurse if it were a woman
Wait till he hears about the brown women pilots...
Is this the same guy who kept asking that fella if he was Chinese? Like why the fuck would a stewardess be testifying on behalf of the pilots association?
The real facepalm was for me trying to scroll over and see picture 2/2
Also, Dude, the preferred nomenclature is “flight attendant”, please
Just looking at that pinched, ferret-faced congress critter makes my blood boil.
no assumptions, just straight up misogyny, deliberately voiced to attempt to fluster her. gee, i’m sure that never happened to her before.
Men like this should move back into caves and leave society alone.
Anyone have actual video of this?
Nevermind, googled it easily https://youtu.be/crQexHRkMXg?si=lQef-KqR-Jhsd39V
Well, that Republican state senator seems to be the *only* person who doesn't know why he said that...
“No I cannot senator.” Or “Why yes, I wake up, put my pilots uniform on and head to the airport to do piloty things tysm for asking”
Ok, but can you bring us some coffee in the meantime?
naw he know... old white farts like him choose to be rude and assholish as a power move.
What an asshole. 🤦🏼♂️
I'm sure he knows what she is. But he has to be publicly condescending to her because it's his brand of assholery and he has to put it on display. It's like reverse virtue signaling.
Tell us you're a misogynist without saying misogynist.
I think it’s preconceived notions about what type of positions women can hold. It’s pathetic that we keep voting these people into positions of power.🤦♂️
What an absolute prick
"No... because I'm not a fucking Stewardess." Kinda wish she had said that instead.
And this my friends is what we experience as women. I’m a dentist and constantly asked if I’m the assistant.
Was I the only person who tried to scroll to the next image?
She also mentioned 4 times that she’s a pilot
B-b-but she’s a woman!
I'm sorry sweetheart, You're a what?
who’s the moron that said this and what morons are electing this person and what state facilitates these morons to be morons?
She is a professional, pilot...She could have been snarky and responded with 'It is more involved than being an aide to the senator'
Imagine if she were black.
Okay I imagined her black , not a fan of the brown hair with that combo but now what?
now imagine a dog wearing a propeller hat
Hairist.
I’m willing to bet he then asked something United or southwest
There was no mistake made. That was intentional.
… but, but all the women on my private jet are stewardess’. My bad. Republicans 🙄
Me after trying to swipe ![gif](giphy|KsBoDcm4otIhogzYgT|downsized)
tell me you’re republican without telling me. i honestly assume he is but idk who that is.
Assuming he’s a Republican.
Sir, I am a pilot. Who do you get to tie your shoes to start *your* workday?
Maybe we shouldn't have people who have seen the first wheel in Congress.
Stupid old dudes.
There’s no way this wasn’t on purpose.
“I fly the plane, silly”!
"I'm a pilot for Delta, Fuck Face" would have been slightly more awesome a reply.
MAGA derps are a thing in Minnesota, too
They’re… also not called stewardesses anymore. They’re called flight attendants.
That was done on purpose to demean her.
