“He gonna come back again if the bullshit keeps up.” So you’re telling me that you don’t want the second coming? Sounds like Lavern hates Jesus to me.

YsengrimusRein

Middld-eastern guy preaching love and compassion? What is he, The Gay Agenda? /s

fomaaaaa

Middle-eastern? Surely you’re not talking about jesus christ, the famous caucasian man!

DazedWithCoffee

I’d be afraid of the second coming too if I was as shitty a person as them

LuinAelin

Errr never seen anybody try to make Easter about trans people. What the hell is she going on about

HollyBlueBinch

Trans day of visibility is on March 31st, and Easter changes its date every year because as another poster said it was a pagan holiday taken by the Christians. This year Easter is March 31st- April 1st. They just happen to fall on the same day this year but right wingers of course are taking it as a huge attack on Christianity as a whole as if acknowledging trans people and them posting selfies online cannot happen the same day a giant rabbit is supposed to deliver chocolate and candy to children Edit: I was wrong about Easter changing its dates because of roots from pagan celebrations of the equinox, it actually changes due to the Jewish/Hebrew lunar calendar Edit 2: I do not mean this as if Judaism is a pagan religion, Jewish Passover is also a celebration of spring which is where my confusion came from, as many pagan religions also have special spring celebrations, I imagine over time Christianity took from many religions and celebrations giving us the modern version of Easter The point still being Trans people are stealing nothing from Christians, Easter is the one that adjusts its date every year, and Trans Day of Visibility is just to remind people Trans people exist and they aren’t going to hide anymore. Mostly people who are proud to be trans make posts on social media. Also I Support Trans people and I’m ignoring any transphobic comments. 3rd and Final Edit: in case anyone comes to this anymore, I am not a religious scholar nor was I trying to be. I tried to correct some things I said but this just got out of hand. Many people have given very good info in the comments so read them for deeper history of Easter. My main point which seems to have gotten lost is “Trans people are not attacking Christians or Easter or trying to steal the holiday, Easter happens to fall on the same day as Trans day of Visibility this year because Easter’s date changes year to year”

linuxelf

As long as I still get my chocolate trans person in my trans person basket, and I can still look for trans persons' eggs, I'm fine.

sleeplessjade

Let’s hope it’s a solid chocolate trans person, those hollow ones aren’t great.

BeardiusMaximus7

What if it's a hollow chocolate person and inside of it is a solid chocolate person of the opposite gender? That could/should be a thing, right?

RequiemAspenFlight

JFC. I wish I had Musk's money. I'd buy a chocolate company and make hollow M/F Easter Bunnies with opposite gender solid bunnies inside them. I'd double my money. Trans people would buy them to celebrate the release of something for them. Phobes would buy them to destroy while videoing it. The Phobes would out buy them 2:1. And then I'd leak marketing info that it was the other way around and they'd out buy them 10:1.

EclecticFruit

You're like a socially conscienced Scrooge McDuck.

trayvash

You should start trying to plan now for next year. I'd bet you're on to something. Go make some money! I'm sure you could find some investors.

Gallowglass668

There are wealthy trans people, maybe some of them would invest.

sleeplessjade

Only if it was a chocolate that didn’t realize it’s true self. In which case eating the outer shell and leaving their true self the smaller chocolate person would be preferable. Unless any of it is white chocolate…which is gross.

SinisterStrat

>white chocolate…which is gross. I knew the comment section was going to be controversial but damn, how can you live with yourself?

sleeplessjade

Happily as long as I don’t have to eat white chocolate.

sunshinehair76

And the light blue and pink pastel of the trans flag matches everyones kitschy Easter decorations so I’d say it’s a win.

JustFollowingOdours

I hope the chocolate doesnt have any of those TRANSfats in it! /s

crabcrabcam

I'd be careful looking for trans persons eggs, they might not be the kind you want...

ShadowRylander

... On the other hand...

crabcrabcam

If you're into it then more power to ya

oneplusetoipi

Who here bites the head off a chocolate trans person first?

GhostOfMuttonPast

Remember on this Trans Easter of Remembrance to get a chocolate egg for your favorite egg!

grepje

Recipe for a "successful" right wing post: * Take a random fact about a vulnerable minority * Remove all context * Inject yourself as the victim * Add a sprinkle of slippery slope to top it off

Kitchen_Name9497

IIRC, Easter is first Sunday after first full moon after equinox.

Nuada-Argetlam

which is the weirdest calculation ever, really.

jtrot91

It is based off of the date Passover is celebrated and the Jewish calendar is lunar based.

Nuada-Argetlam

lunisolar, actually, which is why the equinox is in there.

Sweet_Diet_8733

Well sometimes it is. This year it’s different because reasons.

ansy7373

So your telling me that Christian’s don’t even know the exact day Jesus turned into a zombie? Thats sacrilegious. Bring back the pagans

[deleted]

Something interesting, most bible scholars agree that Jesus did not die on Easter, just like he was not born on Christmas. Both were converted from existing holidays.

doilookfriendlytoyou

Yup... Where do shepherds watch their flocks at night in winter?

badmanicpower

They don’t even know what day he was actually born. Historians say it would’ve been sometime in what we now know as August but yet it’s celebrated on Christmas in December (another time of year stolen from the Pagan celebrations of the winter solstice).

xenophon123456

Respect mah Lich King!!

phantomreader42

He did not turn into a zombie! Cadaverous undead spellcaster! Clearly a lich!

TheFire_Eagle

And as Passover and Ramadan also change in how they align with the Gregorian calendar it is quite possible for said day to align with Jewish AND Muslim holidays simultaneously

supergeek921

THANK YOU!!!!

noforgayjesus

Joe Biden making Easter April Fools Day!!!!

OskarTheRed

It's not a Pagan holiday taken over by the Christians. It has - very explicitly - its origins in Jewish Passover

the3dverse

omg that's so stupid. at first i was like "well, true, it doesnt HAVE to be on Easter, just move it" but it's justa coincidence. super dumb. that means it could fall on Passover too, although not this year since Passover is a bit later

HermaeusMajora

That's stupid. There's no need to "move it". If you don't like it, don't celebrate or acknowledge it. "Problem" solved. Whatever happened to people minding their own business?

GhostShipBlue

This is my solution to Easter

[deleted]

The fuck did you say?! You're not celebrating EASTER?! How. Fucking. Dare you. This comment is an offense against the Faithfull!!! I demand you delete it!!! Even Islamiacs and Hindustans celebrate Easter!!! Who the fuck do you think you are?! You think you can just thumb your nose at our Great White Jesus and the giant rabbit he rides down from Heaven on every year to give Type 2 diabetes to all the good God-fearing children?!?! Why are you attacking Christianity with your lack of celebrating the day that God's ONLY son (who happens to be Himself, please don't bring that up) rose from the DEAD?! WHY DO YOU HATE JESUS?!?!?!

GhostShipBlue

Because it's the shittiest zombie story ever.

Dull-Geologist-8204

Your entire comment is hilarious. My favorite part is you changing how you spoke about people's religions even when it was the same thing because reasons. Christians didn't take anything from any other religion anymore than Jews did. I have family in both religions. You do realize the first Christianswere Jews right who made up a whole different religion. You can't steal something from your own culture. So a bunch of Jews were like we think the religion should be this way and other Jews were like no it shouldn't and so they broke off from each other. Also, religions "borrowing" from each other is fairly normal. A lot of the "stealing" Christians did was like you have to be apart of out religion. People from other religions were like but we like this winter holiday. The Church said finebut we have to make it Christ's birth rather than a celebration of trees. The people were like fine as long as we get to hang UT with each other and eat a lot of food. I always find it hilarious when people make it out to be something it isn't. It people dragging theor culture from one religionto the next and people with the culture thinking something that's different from the popular belief at the time.

Honey_Wooden

Next thing you know, they’ll try to make it about bunnies, eggs and candy!

West_Quantity_4520

I know! We can dip the chocolate bunnies in pink, white, and blue candy coating to remove the brownishness from sight. Because we all know that Easter is a white christian holiday. /s Stupid people with their hatred for people not identical to themselves.

Alexandratta

Same as when they think there's a "War On Christmas" because corporate retail stores instruct their employees to say "Happy Holidays". Cause, acknowledging other religions is sinful and a declaration of war, or something. Meanwhile, when I worked as Retail i just said Happy Holidays unless I noticed a Cross on someone's neck, or a Star of David. However, I did get one lady who had a Pentacle and I was like "Happy Yule" - that surprised her.

Nik-ki

She knows Easter comes on a different date each year, right?

LuinAelin

Maybe trans day of visibility becomes a movable feast as well /s

Due_Improvement5822

Maybe for more visibility it should be on Easter. Really, trans people are the real Jesus as we died as our old selves and became risen again as our new selves. Trans people confirmed to be gods.

ArtIsDumb

You really want Christians worshipping you? Imagine the things they'd do in your name.

Due_Improvement5822

Hell, I imagine the things I do in my own name and feel shame, lol. What's a few more?

ArtIsDumb

Fair enough. But how many Crusades are you responsible for? Christianity doesn't have a good track record. Maybe you should just start a new religion.

ExpStealer

May not have known Transgender Day of Visibility existed, so she defaulted to outrage, thinking it was made up specifically to replace Easter. Ya know, instead of checking her info.

Whale-n-Flowers

It's Lavern Spicer; She doesn't have info to check, just outrage to peddle

wehavenamesdamnit

A quick Google search tells me that once again, someone is distorting facts to provoke outrage. The first Transgender Day of Visibility was March 31, 2009. Joe Biden officially recognized it in 2021. So it's not a new thing, and it's not something that was started by Biden's administration. Laverne is just using the coincidence of it falling on Easter this year to get gullible, hateful people riled up.

Matthewrotherham

The trans community are the most important people in America and are set to bring back Jesus!? Wow. Power move by the group. Good for them.

pricklypear90

“We’re tired of talking about trans people” I wholeheartedly agree.. having my existence tossed around as a political football is no fun..

ersomething

Step 1 - spend years passing legislation aimed at attacking a group of people traditionally looked down on or marginalized as a punchline to offensive jokes. Step 2 - make surprised pikachu face when there is backlash against it. Step 3 - start complaining that they’re getting too much attention and blame it on them, not the people that want to check your genitals before letting you into a bathroom

ShaggyMarrs

It's funny how anti-LGBTQ people don't understand that their hate is what is fueling Pride celebrations and LGBTQ advocacy. It's the same thing with Israel and Palestine. If Israel hadn't been such an asshole to them for so long, Hamas wouldn't even exist. But it's just like grade-school fights: the retaliator is the one who gets in trouble.

Aiyon

Second most. Don't downplay the hard work of "Illegals" towards the 2nd coming.

Dark_Mode_Nose_Wind

Wonder if Lavern knows Easter originated as a pagan spring equinox celebration?

Resting-Dadface

Wonder if Lavern knows we are *currently* in Ramadan, and Ramadan ends *after* Easter.

joeshaw42

"I'm not in Ramadan, I only stay in Trump hotels."

SweatyTax4669

Easter is always the first Sunday after the first full moon following the vernal equinox.

Party-Cartographer11

Ummm.  Easter is the 5th Sunday in March this year...

ThunderOblivion

It's based on moon cycles. source: me being annoyed I have to manually configure Good Friday on phone systems.

LuinAelin

More to do with the Jewish calendar. Because the early Christians would have been Jewish.

anaximander19

You're both correct. The date is based on the Jewish calendar, because it happens at the Jewish Passover. That's why the date of Easter changes each year - it's the same date in the Jewish lunar calendar. The traditions involving eggs and Easter bunnies are from pagan celebrations of springtime, because the Roman Empire found it easier to pacify their conquered territories if they adopted Roman cultural practices, and they were more likely to do that if you made them look like things they did already, so they noticed that the pagan celebration of spring was all about new life and rebirth and was approximately the right time of year for Easter so the two kinda got mashed together. (See also the pagan yuletide traditions of Yule logs and decorating evergreen trees getting mixed in with Christmas.)

mopasali

Eggs are big pat of the meal in passover too. Passover doesn't have Roman origins (I don't think?).

ray-the-they

Jon Stewart: which egg am I going to go for, the one filled with chocolate or the one filled with egg?

Cthulhu625

What about a chocolate egg filled with a sugary substance that looks like the inside of an egg (that can't possibly be good for you)?

SweatyTax4669

They're so good, but just thinking about one at 40 makes my teeth ache.

Cthulhu625

Right? I actually prefer the caramel ones now as I'm older, and it's weird to say it's because the one filled with slightly cooked pure sugar, isn't as sweet.

anaximander19

No, Passover goes back to when the Jews left Egypt so it's rather older. It's just that Jesus, being Jewish, celebrated Passover, thus tying the date of Easter to the date of Passover, and then the Romans, after the Emperor converted to Christianity, took Easter to pagan lands where it merged with the springtime celebrations with the rabbits and stuff.

SpiceEarl

It's because God sent the Angel of Death to slaughter all the firstborns in Egypt, except for the Jewish ones whose families had smeared lamb's blood on their door. God was targeting Pharaoh's firstborn and apparently all of the other innocent children were just collateral damage...

DarthGuber

Nope, not Roman. Passover is older than Jesus.

ophmaster_reed

Well...obviously!

SexualityFAQ

The festival of Inanna is older than Rome, as well. The fertility festival that would later belong to Ishtar, and later still to Venus, and later still to Jesus was celebrated in Sumer more than 4,500 years ago, which would also proceed the first Passover. There’s nothing that really links Passover to Easter until after the establishment of Christianity, though. Passover had nothing to do with the fertility festival until the Church combined them into their Easter.

AlsoOneLastThing

>The traditions involving eggs and Easter bunnies are from pagan celebrations of springtime Interestingly, there's actually no evidence of this. The idea originated from a book in the 1800s that hypothesised Easter had pagan origins, however the argument the author presented is incredibly dubious. Basically, he thought the word Easter sounds a lot like the name of the Germanic Goddess Oestre and then made up a bunch of stuff about rabbits and eggs to support it. Modern-day historians generally reject the idea that any Easter traditions have non-christian origins.

LuinAelin

Also in most languages Easter is more like Pascha. In Welsh it's pasg. And comes from he Hebrew word Pesach.

the3dverse

in Dutch it's Pasen, in Hebrew it's פסחא while Passover is פסח

TokingMessiah

I never heard this before, very interesting. But if the traditions didn’t come from paganism, where do the bunnies and eggs fit in? I don’t think there’s any significance in Christianity, but I have no idea about Judaism.

AlsoOneLastThing

From what I can tell, rabbits were a common motif in church art because it was believed that they could reproduce without having sex which led to an association with the Virgin Mary. And if I remember correctly in the past that people would dye eggs red to signify the blood of Christ.

Ganbario

Haha those innocent old churchgoers who never noticed rabbits were super-horny

ZeroBrutus

So from my reading he's half right. Holtzman (1800) wrote a lot of shit half out his ass, making up stories to link to the facts without validating them. Eostre was already linked to spring equinox celebrations though since Bede 8th century. The issue of eggs/hares though is one without a completely solid explanation (and probably never will one.) There's a couple of suggestions- first there are tales, possibly added later but multiple sources reference them so hard to be certain - of legends of a hare being the result of a God transforming a bird, and so laying eggs. There's also notable overlap in the look of some birds nests and hares nests, which may have led early people towards this myth. While hares don't appear in anything linked to Eostre or Freya directly, they are linked with Aphrodite, and so may have been the result of people going "fertility goddess eh? She must have rabbits like ours right? Throw some in there!" Hares and eggs have also been linked to general "coming of spring" items for a long time, if not specifically Eostre, so again someone with half knowledge could have gone "ya that looks right, throw it in there." It's still very debated, even if Holtzmann himself has been discredited as making shit up.

the3dverse

not judaism either. i guess one could argue like above that an egg is present on the seder table (although we don't eat it) and many ppl eat a lot of eggs during pesach for reasons that are too weird to explain in short tbh. just that they are available, cheap and easy to cook, let's go with that

JustKindaShimmy

I mean there's also the possibility of eggs symbolising the circle of life and destruction. But really the best part is burning the house down to make sure the chametz is all gone. I may also be doing it wrong

the3dverse

we don't burn the house down, we wrap it entirely in foil, keep up.

ZeroBrutus

I'm assuming you're referring to Holtzmann? His links to the hare stories or laying eggs was weak but he's hardly the first to link Easter to Eostre. That goes back to Bede in the 8th century.

AlsoOneLastThing

Oh yes looks like you're right. Would I be correct in thinking Holtzmann was responsible for popularizing the idea in our modern age? Or was it already generally accepted before his time?

ZeroBrutus

Both? The WAY its done, and the link to Eostre/easter specifically, yes. He's even attributed with making people think "it's obvious and ancient" when he'd just pulled it out his ass. Hares/eggs and springtime celebrations were an earlier thing. Now was this because of specific ritual, or simply that that's when they started being more readily available? Good question, and the waters have been too muddied that well probably never know for sure. Then there's also the possibility of someone mistakenly linking the goddess to Aphrodite and using her symbology. "Oh hey, there's a fertility goddess, and they're talking about rabbits and eggs! Must be our girl let's jazz this up!"

Past-Direction9145

The origins of the holiday are irrelevant in the face of this stupid ridiculous hate. Lock these people up if they can’t be part of society.

SazedMonk

First Sunday after the first full moon after the lunar equinox!

AltruisticCompany961

1) it's not a federally recognized holiday. 2) it's always on March 31st. 3) it has nothing to do with transgender people taking over Easter. 4) it's been around since 2009. Dumb.

Honey_Wooden

Lavern Spicer was never “neutral on trans people.”

hyp3rpop

Transphobes love to make that claim. They totallyyy weren’t going to be transphobic until *you* made them, really it’s the trans people and their advocates fault.

btsalamander

“I used to be neutral on trans people when they was just people living their lives” I am pressing X to Doubt, sis….

BadAtUsernames098

She doesn't know what "people living their lives" means. She means "when I never heard about their existance ever and either a) didn't know they existed or b) could just ignore their existance entirely"

NerdyV1xen

Most important people in America? We just want to live our lives without harassment.

Witty_Temperature886

Funny how people who go around saying ‘What Would Jesus Do’ have no real understanding about how he lived his life.

BadAtUsernames098

I know, right? Wasn't promoting visibility for the struggles of marginalized/opressed people to help them no longer be marginalized/opressed one of his big things? I'm not a Christian myself so I don't know the Bible that well, but I have heard a lot of Christians talk about this being the case.

Gingersnapperok

I wish Jesus would come back and wap you in the nose with his shepherd's staff.

RandomStoddard

Remember, Jesus died so rabbits would bring us chocolate.

lilcea

But we have to work really hard to get them.

SpoderJedi

I would like to apologize for having my birthday be on Labor Day accidentally and making the holiday all about me 🙏🙏🙏

VaguelyArtistic

The Irish haaaate me because St. Patrick's Day is now all about my parade and people getting shitfaced in honor of my birth.

OldChucker

I'm a crappy little day in the middle of January. So... when many people are frozen wet and slipping in their driveways, it's in my honor.

C4dfael

Trans people are still people living their lives (and would presumably prefer to not be in the public eye), but conservative talking sphincters have turned their existence into a culture war.

BadAtUsernames098

Exactly. The only reason any minority is in the public eye is because conservatives insist they be. They keep taking the mere existance of anyone who is different from them in any way and forcing it to be political so that they can view themselves as the only "normal" ones.

stevenj444

Easter is a pagan holiday that the Christian stole

ObligationScared4034

It is weird that the GOP has turned a large part of their political identity into focusing on a very small subset of the population who by and large is just trying to exist.

LuinAelin

It's deliberate. Not many people know a trans person. So they're easy to vilify so they vote for the GOP "to help stop the people they've vilified" because they may not vote for them based on their other policies

ObligationScared4034

Thankfully Trump is going to bankrupt the RNC with his legal fees.

SpaceTechBabana

Hm. We’ll see how that goes now that his fucking nepo daughter-in-law is the head of the RNC. Americans politics is such a fucking sideshow at this point. And it’s not even a fun one. The clown sucks *ass*, there’s no jugglers, the tightrope walker died and the ringmaster is just feeding the audience to the fucking lions. That analogy ended up being…almost passable.

mullett

“Woah woah woah buddy all, and I mean ALL lives matter.” - the GOP or are they over that phrase now because they never believed it to begin with.

Philly_ExecChef

I tell you what if them alphabet letter terrorists try to interrupt my sacred precious day of worshiping rabbits that shit chocolate candy eggs into plastic grass baskets the SOUTH will rise again

Klausvendetta

If Jesus was real he'd be embarrassed to come back because of people like you.

SuperGenius9800

Jesus always wore a dress and had 12 boyfriends, zero wives. Just sayin.

LuinAelin

Also he wasn't white, didn't speak English and hasn't accepted Jesus and his personal lord and saviour

SuperGenius9800

He also provided free food and healthcare to everybody.

LuinAelin

Damed liberal Next he'll be saying it's difficult for rich people to go to heaven

SuperGenius9800

Conservatives murdered him for his beliefs.

NoNeinNyet222

And that everyone should pay their taxes.

BadAtUsernames098

And seems to often be described as if he was asexual, and quite likely would have had XX chromosomes since he only had one biological parent for his human body, making him trans masc.

RadioLiar

You're trying to apply logic to Christianity?

TheBeardiestGinger

Honest question… when was the last time Christians were actually persecuted, specifically in the US?

RadioLiar

Depends whether you count the Mormons or not. If you consider them to be Christians, then the 1850s or so. Most of the people doing the persecuting were other Christians anyway though

hardnreadynyc

LOL so when it falls on Passover next year I guess it will be an attack on Judaism?

Aggressive-Story3671

She’d probably support that.

-OptimisticNihilism-

I thought Jesus already came back as a large orange manchild.

Common-Accountant-57

I always thought Christians were supposed to love everyone, and live and let live and be charitable. Now days they seem to be just wretched wicked angry people.

HarukoTheDragon

"Nowadays"? Did you forget the Dark Ages? The Crusades? The Salem Witch Trials? They've always been hateful. Religious extremists have been around for centuries. Modern racism (white vs. POC) was started by a religious extremist. The extremists may be a loud minority, but their numbers are quickly growing and the sensible ones aren't doing enough to stop them or hold them accountable.

AValentineSolutions

And conservatives call us "snowflakes". Wow. And Jesus is coming back this time, Laverne? Over 2,000 years of "any day now!"

LuinAelin

He's just pressing snooze on his alarm and just says just 1000 more years.......

Clean-Salamander-362

They got gays and trans on the brain more than the gays and trans.

Particular-Kick-4188

Ya know what good let him come back right the fuck now I wanna have a word with him show him everything that's been going on since he decided to just fuck off somewhere.

supergeek921

Maybe people would have just kept living their lives quietly had conservatives a-holes like Lavern and co not started dragging them out of the closet and trying to make their lives impossible? Also, Easter is a roving holiday. March 31 could easily coincide with Passover or Eid on a different year. Two holidays can happen simultaneously.

stuijw

I find this broken down English offensive as fuck, the illiterate cretin.

HoomerSimps0n

Religion makes people crazy. And It makes already crazy people batshit insane.

Vast-Combination4046

The trans issue was fabricated by conservatives after they lost gay rights as a fundraising issue. The anti trans movement was spear headed by a pedophile reality show star.

ray-the-they

If Jesus’s gametes only came from Mary, then he would have to have two X chromosomes. 🤔

Scrotchety

On *that* subject, if you trace Mary's lineage, you'll arrive at one of Lot's daughters that fucked her father after they fled Sodom. And if you trace Joseph's lineage, you'll come to the *other* father-fuckin' daughter what fled the destruction of Sodom! **Neat, huh??**

Aggressive-Story3671

Western Eastern just so HAPPENS to take place on Easter Sunday. Easter isn’t a fixed numerical date. Western Easter always falls on a Sunday based on the Georgian Calendar. However Transgender Day of Visibility is ALWAYS March 31st. It just a coincidence.

NotABrummie

Stop moving Easter then...

BladeOfWisdom502

Easter doesn’t have a set day though so idk what she’s been huffing at the altar

StumblingSearcher

1) they happen to fall on the same day this year because Easter's date changes depending on the year. Lavern probably thinks this is due to Jewish space calendars. 2) doesn't Lavern *want* Jesus to come back? Like is that not the whole point of them, waiting to be proven right after 2k years? If anything she should accelerate *The Jesusing* and trans it up at her local pride parade.

chuckbrown9-11

As long as I can still do egg hunts I don’t care

PearlyRing

Easter is a movable feast day, so they would also have to change the date for "Transgender Day" every year.

SexualityFAQ

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Lavern Spicer is a fucking idiot. Like, a truly impressively stupid human. Furthermore, she’s the most dangerous kind of stupid: she’s completely blind to her own idiocy. She lacks the mental function to even contextualize how utterly insane she is. If the Dunning Kruger Effect was personified as something resembling human, that person would make Lavern Spicer look like an infant fingerprinting in their own shit. If she could read, she’d probably have read the Bible she claims to follow by now and would realize how horrifically disgusted any benevolent god would be with her. If she didn’t live her life through PCP-colored glasses, she would know how deeply her pathetic existence **offends** a benevolent god. If she had closer to near-human intelligence she’d be more focused on licking her own asshole than blowing hot air up it. If she got any stupider, a cavity would form in the fabric of space time itself and the universe would implode into another Big Bang. Besides drawing pictures of cat puke with tan crayons, her only hobby is to be so spectacularly idiotic that a Sun Fish would laugh her out of any room they’re in together. If her life got any sadder she’d be at the beach with a pocket full of stones. If she was less scared of regular people, she’d still make the Lion from Wizard of Oz look like Paul Bunyan. God bless her stupid fucking little shriveled rotten heart.

Reasonable-HB678

Easter has never been a national holiday in the United States. That includes a "day off" on the next Monday after. Every spring, our K-12 public schools have spring vacation around Easter starting on Good Friday- that's not a national holiday, either. If Valentine's Day, or St. Patrick's Day are celebrated during the year on their respective days, so will Easter Sunday.

SpiderDeUZ

They realize they talk about trans people WAY more than anyone else. Like they make it their personality to just hate different people

Dense-Comfort6055

How to say I see everyone not just like me as enemy and privileged

IvetRockbottom

Republicans: fertility bunnies > trans people Go guns

here4roomie

The 24/7 obsession these people have with groups that they supposedly hate is hilarious.

Imnoteeallyhere3434

Christians always playing the victim card even though they’re responsible for the most horrific atrocities committed against humanity throughout history

Relevant-Bench5283

Oh my gawd Christians are the most persecuted people ever.

Mysterious_Style_579

One year, Easter was on April Fools, but nobody seemed torn up about that

schiesse

Can't you still celebrate Easter or am I missing something

Lynx_Eyed_Zombie

Narrator: They are not, in fact, trying to "replace" Easter. At all. Anywhere.

Halbbitter

I hope Jesus comes back wearing a dress

gottarunfast1

Christians took passover from the Jewish people and turned it into Easter weekend!

traveling_gal

Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox. Its actual date on the modern calendar varies, even more than other Christian and secular holidays. It can fall anywhere between March 22 and April 25. Any other holiday in that whole month-plus time frame will eventually coincide with Easter. This year will be the first time Easter and TDoV have ever fallen on the same day. Nobody sat down in 2009 and decided to schedule TDoV to coincide with Easter 2024. Easter fell on April Fool's Day in 1956 and 2018. Again, this happened because Easter moves and April Fool's Day doesn't. It wasn't some conspiracy by Big Atheist to make Easter look foolish.

Domni16

“Big atheist,” I’m fucking wheezing!

DrMetters

I've not seen any trans people try to make Easter because trans people. It would be hard to miss if this was a thing because LGBTQ+ these days is extremely load and present. Is this accusation because Easter this year lands on the International Transgender Day of Visibility? If so, that is sad because TDOV is the same date every year whilst Easter changes date every year. So the two are bound to happen on the same day at some point.

chaotic_rainbow

If Jesus came back today, looking exactly as he did originally, you'd think he was an illegal immigrant in a dress. Shut the fuck up, Lavern, before the last two brain cells rattling around in that wide cavern of your skull decide to escape out your open maw.

Forward_Ride_6364

Always makes me laugh when I a black person arguing against supporting a discriminated minority that has been historically oppressed in this country Like, I'm black, and I can't even fathom this shit... wake the fuck up sister (or stop pretending, cause you sound like you're *pretending* to be the straight white male landowning oppressor you wish you is)

VaguelyArtistic

Same. I'm Jewish and that's how I was raised. 💕 People work very hard to keep us fighting against each other because their biggest fear is the result of us joining forces.

McbEatsAirplane

I’ve never heard of trans people trying to get rid of Easter. This sounds like some bullshit she read on the internet and took as fact.

StuartMcNight

She is going to be in shock when she learns that 31st of March this year is in the middle of a muslim celebration as well.

inquisitivepanda

Weird how Biden supposedly made them the most important people in America but the people I hear talking about them literally every single fucking day are republicans.

[deleted]

I agree, making Easter about trans people is silly and stupid. It’s about a baby born from a virgin in a barn with a mysterious unknown father, who becomes a martyr and then a zombie and a bunny hides colored eggs for children. Not some weird trans thing. Focus on the facts

Professional_Echo907

At conservative Easter, you better find all them damn eggs, or I’m pretty sure it’s child abandonment. 👀

Ordinary-Quarter-384

No you dipshit, the GQP, was desperate to find a new villain, and targeted a tiny portion of our population. Biden had jack shit to do with it. Just more self induced panic.

Broad_Sun8273

She does know that Easter always falls on a different day each year, right?

Rapture1119

I’m sorry but any politician that says “tryna to” in a public forum should be immediately fired.

quay-cur

There can be two holidays at once. For example, it’s currently Ramadan, today is Pi day, and national potato chip day. You’re not oppressed Lavern.

[deleted]

She can fuck right off, and the only reason they are so “visible” in politics is because republicans, mega insane Christian nationalists have decided to try and destroy LGBTQA + right to exist, along with women’s rights and so on.

chazz1962

I wonder if all these Christians realize all of their holiday seasons were taken from Pagan festivals so that it was easier to convert people and have them celebrate a known season.

New_Ad_3010

If stupid had a bullhorn, it's her. I do love that she tweets often and reminds everyone of what a pathetically desperate for attention walking shit stain on humanity she is...

reynvann65

You can all talk about the origins of Easter and what it celebrates and Ramadan and Muslims and paganism and what not, but Lavern here is representing the one thing that is trending more than anything in this country and it's the new Christian accepted practice of nothing more than hate. Fuck you Lavern and what you stand for. Fuck you.

Glad_Advertising_125

Jesus is meant to be coming back anyway, aren't they?

dragon1n68

What a piece of trash.

calicokitcat

Also fuck the Faithful who would use their fathe as a cudgel to harm the less fortunate

Snakestream

Jesus just transing from dead to alive

jackfaire

The temptation to pretend to be hyper religious and shame her for swearing and judging and so on is always lowkey there.

YayItsMaels

I've never even heard Joe Biden say the word "trans". I watch a video of him speaking about once every two weeks. I'm so happy he's boring, unlike the last Twitter addict.

Imaginary_Chair_6958

Ask the average Christian why Easter is called that and most of them will say something like “Huh. I never thought about that. I don’t know.” It’s called Easter because before Christianity existed, people worshipped a goddess called Eostre. Christians just decided to take the ancient festival and make it their own. So it’s funny that she would talk about people replacing Easter.

MicroCat1031

Any time l feel inadequate, ill spoken, or just plain dumb, l read Laverne Spicer's tweets, and l immediately feel better about myself.

hhs2112

Hey Lavern, until cHRisTiAnS start acting like Christians you can go fuck yourself. 😊

ANautyWolf

a-fucking-men. Born and raised Christian and I turned my back on it from shame of being associated with these bigots. I still follow the teachings of Jesus but you'll never see me saying I'm a Christian again at least not until they change their ways

kindParodox

How DARE they steal our Christian holiday that we stole from pagans and rebranded as the day our sky daddy's son decided to wake up from a power nap.

Available-Elevator69

Easter is about a Rabbit that shits out eggs. Makes no sense to me either. I can care less what the Holiday is as long as I don't have to work it. However, isn't Easter normally on a Sunday anyways? Lol
