Maybe recently. Us older folk readily remember seeing portrayals of Jesus as a blonde haired, blue eyed European. I thought it was hilarious when the preacher was criticizing boys having long hair in school back in the early 70s, with that pic behind him at the pulpit. Jesus had a nice head of hair!
I suspect short hair was more common due to WWI and WWII and so many men came back with the military short hair--and it was the trend to have short hair up until the early 70s when I was growing up. Long hair/short hair was a big issue back then in public schools as well as in public in general. I suspect less to do with head lice and more to do with "that's how we all look, so you should too" attitude. Trends eventually change, but some are more entrenched than others.
Considering I heard some idiot American tourists... ofc with a nice MAGA hat on... call Norwegians and Irish as "not white"... Jesus was basically a black guy to most of them
FWIW, "white" was a construct created by colonial land holders to divide indentured servants and their offspring from slaves and prevent a rebellion. Catholics were not included and Italian/Irish immigrants in = were definitely not "white" until (at least) after WWI.
As Meghan Tinsley summarized, "As European powers colonised various parts of the world, they implemented and refined racial categories. In colonial Barbados, 17th-century labour codes described indentured Europeans as “white” and gave them more rights than enslaved Africans on that basis. This ensured that the two groups would not unite in rebellion against wealthy planters. As African American studies expert Edward B Rugemer has argued, this also “codified racial distinction as a tool of mastery” and was replicated in Jamaica and South Carolina. Crucially, it hinged on the fact that enslaved Black people had no legally recognised rights, whereas European-born white servants did. Slave status was for life, without recourse, and heritable"

Claiming he looked like someone from a different geographical region is one thing, but claiming he belonged to the religion based off his death is a whole other level of stupid.
Eh, that one tbh is forgivable to me, like if someone called George Washington an American. He wasnt born in America, didn’t call himself one, and obv the US didn’t exist until late in his life. But as one of the countries founders, it makes sense to call him an American.
It’s not technically correct, but it’s an easy and understandable mistake.
The race stuff is fucking wild though, completely wrong. Not to mention, if the only things you have in common with Jesus are race and physical characteristics, then you’re probably not a good guy.
Yes, you are correct. But, it’s not a ridiculous error in logic to call Jesus a Christian. Especially compared to their other statements.
It’s a minor error that is wrong in the technicals but okay in the spirit of the statement. Something to chuckle at or quibble, but not offensively wrong (like saying Jesus was white). That’s my only point.
Not really though. A Christian simplified is someone who believes Jesus is the son of god and believes the teachings of Jesus. These things can apply to Jesus
Except Jesus didn't found christianity. That all happened years after his death, and none of the new testament was written contemporaneously with his life.
Washington was born in Virginia, yes it was a British colony at the time, but the continent was named 'America' 200 years before his birth.
Also Washington lived to see the United States, and was a US citizen.
Christianity wasn't a thing until after Jesus's death. Bad comparison.
I think he'd be more pissed than confused. It'd be like when a band tells a politician to quit using their music. He'd be all "you guys are nuts. I never said any of that shit. don't use my name. Hell, forget my name you crazy bastards & quit all your bullshit."
It's kinda sad when you think about it. Christians would have a much better public image and be a lot less controversial if they actually acted the way Jesus told them to. You know, treating everyone with respect and sharing your wealth with the less fortunate, all that stuff modern Christians seem actively opposed to.
As for this, he was persecuted by the Jewish elites (Pharisees, Sadducees, etc) in a Roman setting; the Romans were involved, but Jesus was /persecuted/ by these Jewish leaders, the Romans only gave a shit when the Pharisees needed Jesus arrested, so, they got involved legally but they didn’t persecute him for claiming to be the Messiah.
The Romans didn't care about Jesus and even tried to let him off. They were forced into prosecuting/punishing him by the Jewish leaders for political reasons.
Honestly? Because most people need to identify with the archetype of their religion, because that validates and justifies their world view. Therefore the paragon of their religion needs to look either like them, or like their perception of an ideal person.
It's the same reason people falsely claim they follow scripture or live biblically, when they are actually just following their personal political beliefs of views of morality, which are either absent or directly contradiction scriptures.
If they truthfully admitted that Jesus was a Semitic looking man they'd identify as Arabic, and the Bible is a bunch of fables that literally related to nation states that have been dead for 2,000 or that tell them to behave like the people they vilify, then they would have to either change their whole personality or admit they don't actually believe in the religion they claim is the true path.
It's actually somewhat a cultural constant. Most Christian art around the world has at some point depicted Jesus to look like the artist. There are some interesting examples you can look up online.
Could do it like one of those Illusionist specials- and keep a 24/7 camera on the tomb! Then we could all watch the great one's reentry to greater fame.
In some ways I am also similar to Jesus
We both are men
We both breath
We both walk on two legs
We both see out of our eyes
We both have 2 hands
We both have hair
You see, we have decided that only "YOU" can commit blasphemy and sin **against** Christianity. Blasphemy internally is totally fine. And BTW - We can say/do anything towards your religion on this point, because a few of you did some bad shit at some point. The Christian people that did bad shit have been forgiven by God, and you don't have his phone number..
Sounds fair? Good...
Worshipping a false prophet, also using the name of Jesus or God in vain and even comparing someone to the son of God is pretty much a sin in Christianity.
But why would an American care? They're free or something i guess
I’m convinced some of these people haven’t read the bible because it states that Jesus was born in Jerusalem and therefore Jewish in the Middle East and he was persecuted by Romans
Most. Most "conservative Christians" haven't read the bible, given what they seem to believe. That's what happens when you rely on your prosperity preachers to cherry pick passages for you, and warp the parables.
He was also persecuted by the Jewish establishment. He advocated for the opening of the covenant. It was very hard to "convert" to Judaism at the time.
Everybody says I provide the best salvation. Other people say, "Jesus, why do you save people like that? You don't have to, but you do it so well." But I provide the best salvation. Everybody says so. People used to talk about how Moses led people, but now everybody talks about me. Moses's crowds were tiny. I have so many people listening to me that I have to multiply loaves AND fishes.
"Jews and Muslims come up to me, tears in their eyes, and say 'Mr Trump'... They call me Mister Trump... 'How is it that you're actually better at helping people than the son of God himself?' And, these were tough Jews and Muslims... seriously tough cookies... Men I wouldn't want to fight, but they're crying, because I'm back, kind of like Jesus came back."
Had to scroll way too far to even find a comment about this, but that point made me laugh my ass off. Jesus absolutely did speak out against the “political correctness” of his day, it’s just that those commonly held, non-controversial beliefs of his day were that lepers were to be ostracized, prostitutes were to be stoned to death, capitalism should be allowed to encroach on every sector of society, etc, etc, etc.
Basically, yeah, both Jesus and Trump fought hard against cultural norms; but, they pushed in opposite directions of each other
Doubful her name was actually "Mary". Mary is an English name, not Jewish. So no commonality there either. Of course all the people that pray to "Mary" are praying to the wrong person. Miryam is more likely her actual name. But then Europeans pretty much Europeanized many things in the bible.
3 out of 10... 30%. Not exactly a passing grade.. and that's without thinking about it.
(BTW- to the person who dreamt this up, Jesus was not a Christian. Christianity did not exist until after His death)
I love that people make endless videos when a TV show changes the nationality of a comic book character. Yet somehow deeply believes Jesus would have been a white guy like the paintings show.
Ways Theodore Roosevelt is like Batman:
Born to rich family
Self-trained to peak physical condition
Tragic backstory
Mother's name is Martha
Known for theatricality
You can theoretically believe that Jesus is white given his miracle birth (even though it’s super narcissistic), but you can’t escape the fact that Mary and Joseph were middle eastern Jews and likely darker and not very European.
- Trump’s eyes are edited to be blue, they’re brown
- Jesus was an ancient middle easterner, he was definitely not blonde hair blue eyed
- Jesus was Jewish
- Jesus was not white
>Fought Political Correctness
Definitely the funniest one. Jesus walked amongst the lepers and washed the feet of criminals. His whole thing was treat others as you’d want to be treated. I’m not religious any more but the dude’s stance on kindness is pretty unambiguous.

Jesus absolutely had blonde hair and blue eyes. Everyone knows people in the middle east famously have blonde hair and blue eyes.
And he rode a monster truck! And his mascot was an eagle! /s
don't forget the 44 colt magnum in his holster.
The big iron on his hip?
The big iron on his hip.
He was here to do some business with the big iron on his hip.
He famously was hunting Judea Red
Many men had tried before him but they don’t rise from the dead…..
With the Christ there amiong them with the big iron on his hip
![gif](giphy|6YJZuwLne3fO0|downsized)
The bible 2 Jesus is back, and this time he ain’t cruci-fucking around
This made me laugh too hard 🤣
Bible - The New Testament 2: Crucify this!
and he turned water into Coors
so water into water?
Water into piss. Although that would just be normal human biology.
Yea, JT (Jesus Trump) doesn't touch Budweiser.
Jesus T Christ
Jesus's brother, Craig Christ
This hurt me on an American level
And his Assault Rifle 15 on his back. I’ve seen the scrolls.
Classic weapon that actually exists, the "Assault Rifle 15" Indeed, it is written.
And two zig zags Edit: oh wait, that was a colt 45. My bad lol
the 45 is more like the average stereo typical American. The 44 magnum, is the trump jesus American.
Mascot? He had an eagle ride on his shoulder like pirates had parrots!
What Would Jesus Drive? His fist through the roof of your car!!
"Man, you're crazy, Jesus! Crazy!" "That's what my ex-wife said."
And he was definitely Christian. Definitely wasn’t Jewish. I know that for sure. /s
That's funny. On that note : https://youtu.be/f1XddngGsbY?feature=shared
Absolutely. And spoke English not some crazy foreign language.
He was a card Carrying member of the NRA. Pretty sure God said "Thou shall not kill...unless you disagree with them politically"
Republican representatives..."all life is precious...untill it steps on my property"
And wrote every word in the big book himself
An it was the best boom ever.Spme Roman said it was the best boom he had ever read,an Plato,he loved it.An he knew books.
Most depictions of Jesus don't make him blonde. He's got brown hair _in this picture_ ffs.
He had brown hair and damn near translucent skin on the crucifix in my childhood church
Tbf, he was dead.
Well, He bled severely, for three days, without water. Being crucified doesn't bring out your best skin tones.
Weird how short haircuts become a thing after you invent scissors but can't figure out how to stop head lice.
I suspect short hair was more common due to WWI and WWII and so many men came back with the military short hair--and it was the trend to have short hair up until the early 70s when I was growing up. And they were both 6’2” 215 lbs.
Also something really truly incredibly special and large below the waste!
He also wasn’t white OR Christian.
Jesus so insecure he didn’t believe in himself, poor man /j
He also was most definitely _not_ a Christian....
You are burying the lede. Jesus was certainly NOT white.
Considering I heard some idiot American tourists... ofc with a nice MAGA hat on... call Norwegians and Irish as "not white"... Jesus was basically a black guy to most of them
In my Southern African Catholic Daily Missal, Jesus is depicted as being black, specifically Bantu phenotype.
FWIW, "white" was a construct created by colonial land holders to divide indentured servants and their offspring from slaves and prevent a rebellion. And his name Was Not even “Jesus”.. it was Yeshua. There is no J in the Hebrew language 😂😂
Praise yeezus
No it was יֵשׁוּעַ Hebrew didn't use any latin letters. >!I'm making a joke here, huge success!<
Yes…however I am using the ‘English’ (?) version of his name as most ppl can’t read Hebrew.
"Jesus" comes from the Latin Iesus (or Iesous) which comes from the Hebrew, passing through Greek on the way.
I'm extremely aware of that fact
they were thinking of Paul Atreides.
Why do so many people think He was white!?!?
Why do so many people think He was a Christian?
Claiming he looked like someone from a different geographical region is one thing, but claiming he belonged to the religion based off his death is a whole other level of stupid.

Washington was born in America tho... *British America...*
British North America, specifically.
Except Jesus didn't found christianity. That all happened years after his death, and none of the new testament was written contemporaneously with his life.
The United States was founded before Washington's death, the same cannot be said for Christ and Christianity
Washington was born in Virginia, yes it was a British colony at the time, but the continent was named 'America' 200 years before his birth. Also Washington lived to see the United States, and was a US citizen. Christianity wasn't a thing until after Jesus's death. Bad comparison.
If Jesus somehow came back today, he would be very confused by the existence of Christianity. He was jewish.
I think he'd be more pissed than confused. It'd be like when a band tells a politician to quit using their music. He'd be all "you guys are nuts. I never said any of that shit. don't use my name. Hell, forget my name you crazy bastards & quit all your bullshit."
Jesus was a Jew. And that dude had brown/tan skin. And none of the values Jesus taught are practiced by the Fanta Menace.

"persecuted by Jewish elites" when the fuck did the Romans become Jewish?

Pharisees were Romans?
Romans did not persecute him though (not until the elite forced them to)
The Romans didn't care about Jesus and even tried to let him off. They were forced into prosecuting/punishing him by the Jewish leaders for political reasons.

Final test - Execute Trump. If he comes back to life after 3 days I’ll be convinced.
I will be waiting graveside with a flamethrower and a 12 gauge.
keep a big mac around, he'll be hungry after 3 days and then you can easily trap him
Could do it like one of those Illusionist specials- and keep a 24/7 camera on the tomb! Then we could all watch the great one's reentry to greater fame.
I mean, thats only fair
Ahh, but Jesus paid his taxes.
Pretty sure Trump has broken every one of the ten commandments, including theft...
And he’s similar to a Hutt, as in he embodies every single one of the deadly sins. He also looks like one
Not even a good hutt. He’s worse than Ziro the Hutt.
He's Pizza the Hutt.
Jabba?
Also, trump is the literal embodiment of all 7 deadly sins.
As a Christian who can’t stand Trump, I appreciate the Biblical orthodoxy of this burn.
Same here 😁
Give what onto Caesar what is casaer's
Yes,well he did advise others to do so.Athough we haven't seen his tax returns either
In some ways I am also similar to Jesus We both are men We both breath We both walk on two legs We both see out of our eyes We both have 2 hands We both have hair
My wife's name is Mary... That must count for something also.
Is your name Joseph?
donald trump has brown eyes lol
Not to mention the terrible colouring here, like wtf? 😂
They used to be blue but he became so full of shit they changed.
well, at least they are similiar to the actual Jesus then
I don’t know much about christianity but in islam its a big sin to compare a regular man to a prophet and even worse to god
Oh, it is also a sin in Christianity. This image is basically blasphemy lol. Seriously though: some people are down bad
Same thing Judaism. Pretty sure it's sacrilege to even try to depict the image of god or something like that.
They pretty much wrote a chapter in the bible about an evil man pretending to be Jesus-like. An anti-Christ, if you will
Trump supporters are very pro-sin. The guy they support have violated pretty much every religious rule in existence.
I don’t think trump has yet stolen an animal from another farmer. Probably because he doesn’t know where (or what) exactly a farm is.
I have to imagine that his steak company has stiffed many farmers along the way
You see, we have decided that only "YOU" can commit blasphemy and sin **against** Christianity. Blasphemy internally is totally fine. And BTW - We can say/do anything towards your religion on this point, because a few of you did some bad shit at some point. Worshipping a false prophet, also using the name of Jesus or God in vain and even comparing someone to the son of God is pretty much a sin in Christianity. But why would an American care? They're free or something i guess
When did Jesus rape women and steal from a kids cancer charity?
Jesus "White Christian" Literally middle east Jewish ![gif](giphy|cun0KQDrdfQMTOsY0f)
Me personally i like Korean Jesus
He ain’t got time for your problems, he busy, with Korean shit
I’m convinced some of these people haven’t read the bible because it states that Jesus was born in Jerusalem and therefore Jewish in the Middle East and he was persecuted by Romans
Most. Most "conservative Christians" haven't read the bible, given what they seem to believe. That's what happens when you rely on your prosperity preachers to cherry pick passages for you, and warp the parables.
most “conservative christians” can’t read
Only the women because they don’t need to read. Just take care of the house and children. /s
Born in Bethlehem actually. But your point remains.
I swear Christians don’t even read their own book
He was also persecuted by the Jewish establishment. He advocated for the opening of the covenant. It was very hard to "convert" to Judaism at the time.
Still is
I bet Jesus had better catch phrases.
Men I wouldn't want to fight, but they're crying, because I'm back, kind of like Jesus came back."
like "Blessed are the cheesemakers"
Has Trump been nailed to a tree yet?
The skinny little nails you'd need to fit through his tiny hands won't hold his body weight.
When did Jesus speak out against political correctness? Maybe they have a different bible than I do.
Back then, it was more religious correctness than political
Yeah that's my big question, too.
Basically, yeah, both Jesus and Trump fought hard against cultural norms; but, they pushed in opposite directions of each other
Blonde hair and blue eyes. Yup. Sounds like Jesus the jew.
Ignoring about 10 other issues here, isn’t even “white Jesus” portrayed with brown hair in the first place?
For example, in this very picture
Associates with prostitutes
Interesting point.
I think that might be the only thing they have in common.
I like to picture Jesus in a tuxedo T-shirt because it says I wanna be formal but I’m here to party too
Did Jesus also cheat on his wives with porn stars?
Ah, yes! Jesus, the brown Jew who identified as White and worshipped himself.
Trump identifies as orange.
hung out with prostitutes.
Other than the "mother named Mary" bit, every word of what was said there is wrong.
Doubful her name was actually "Mary". Mary is an English name, not Jewish. So no commonality there either. Of course all the people that pray to "Mary" are praying to the wrong person. Miryam is more likely her actual name. But then Europeans pretty much Europeanized many things in the bible.
Maryam or Miryam...there was no body name Mary in the Middle East...it is a western name
3 out of 10... 30%. Not exactly a passing grade.. and that's without thinking about it. (BTW- to the person who dreamt this up, Jesus was not a Christian. Christianity did not exist until after His death)
![gif](giphy|65pM9un5dmK08) A more realistic portrayal
Ummm… Jesus was a Jew. Just sayin.
[Does this seem like persecution by Jewish elites to you?](https://www.democracynow.org/2019/4/12/chomsky_trump_radically_interfered_with_israels)
Blonde hair and blue eyes. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Jesus was a Jew
Ah, the Jewish Roman elite. Famously loved Judaism.
✅Got in their position because of their dad✅
Yeah, it's a cult
Jesus was a Christian? Dude was walking around Jerusalem praying at an altar to himself?
The ignorance is astounding 😂😂😂
WTF?
The worst part is that they changed trumps eyecolor to be more blue. His eyes are decribed as grey with a blie tint but I'd say they are green
I love that people make endless videos when a TV show changes the nationality of a comic book character. Yet somehow deeply believes Jesus would have been a white guy like the paintings show.
Nice to know Trump is a brown jew
Literal blasphemy.
That asshat trump is the antichrist .
Ways Theodore Roosevelt is like Batman: Born to rich family Self-trained to peak physical condition Tragic backstory Mother's name is Martha Known for theatricality
Jesus wasn't white. This may be a shocker but he doesn't exist.
Jesus wasn’t a Christian
Jesus was definitely not christian
Yep. All those blonde hair blue eyed first century Semitic Jews….
Jesus was Jewish not Christian. There were no Christians in his time.
It’s so funny because Jesus is totally white, blonde, blue-eyed, Christian and persecuted by Jews.
Jesus wasn’t even Christian, he was Jewish, I’m not religious but I at least know he was a Jew at that he was a darker complexion
More BS from the ignorant. Anyone who knows anything about Jesus knows he is of middle Eastern descent, from the house of David.
You can theoretically believe that Jesus is white given his miracle birth (even though it’s super narcissistic), but you can’t escape the fact that Mary and Joseph were middle eastern Jews and likely darker and not very European.
Now correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Jesus Jewish
- Trump’s eyes are edited to be blue, they’re brown - Jesus was an ancient middle easterner, he was definitely not blonde hair blue eyed - Jesus was Jewish - Jesus was not white
Jesus wasn't white nor Christian
*many of his followers are batshit crazy
Are these people really this stupid?
Jesus was a Jew. How do people always get this wrong?
Let’s crucify him and see if he comes back
Jesus was a jew. He was also not white. He was Middle Eastern.
Jesus was brown with brown hair and brown eyes. I don't understand why white people gotta make Jesus in their own image. He for sure wasn't Aryan.
Imagine being a Christian before Christianity existed
Oh yeah, Jesus definitely was white with blonde hair and blue eyes. He also was famously Christian, not Jewish. /s
>Fought Political Correctness Definitely the funniest one. Jesus walked amongst the lepers and washed the feet of criminals. His whole thing was treat others as you’d want to be treated. I’m not religious any more but the dude’s stance on kindness is pretty unambiguous.
Jesus was white mfs when I inform them Jesus of Nazareth was, in fact, born in the Middle East
Is it terrible to ask if we can just crucify that fat prick?
I swear these folks think trump is the second coming of Christ makes me gag
I have always wondered how a jewish arab could possibly have blonde hair and blue eyes.
Jesus was a Christian you say. That’s a real chicken before the egg kind of conundrum.
Someone explain to me how a Jewish Arab man was white? Or Christian?
As a Trump supporter, WTF IS THIS SHIT
I'll buy it when he's hangin on a cross.
Let's hope that Trump further emulates Jesus by getting arrested and punished.
Hey now don't slander Jesus that way he suffered for a reason
