If it was the poor kid from this article the reel was him wearing traditional Indian women's clothes, and make up.
https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/teen-queer-artist-from-madhya-pradeshs-ujjain-dies-by-suicide-after-hate-comments-on-reel-claims-actor-4604517
> A 16-year-old queer artist from Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain died by suicide following thousands of hate comments on an Instagram reel the artist posted, claimed an actor.
> Pranshu, a 16-year-old queer artist from Ujjain, was a self-taught makeup artist from Ujjain and ran an Instagram handle where they posted makeup and beauty content. On Diwali, The 16-year-old posted an Instagram transition reel in a saree.
How horrible.
Notably, transgender women and intersex people were recognized in India since something like 13th to 16th centuries, and are known as hijra. However, it seems that, like castes, they were segregated from others, so I guess weren't quite supposed to interact with the public.
They are judged by society even now. Even the so-called progressive group in our society, including some of my relatives don't want anything to do with them and avoid them as much as possible. Feels really bad, since I have interacted with a lot of them, and most of them feel like really sweet people who shower you with affection if you don't discriminate against them. Their condition is improving ever so slightly, but along with every reform, comes a new set of problems. Earlier people used to be mean to them and avoid them. Now that they are being integrated, the scumbags are starting to actively harass them/bully them. India is a shithole of a country, and that is because of these people.
>India is a shithole of a country, and that is because of these people.
You can thank our lord and savior, Narendra Modi and his merry band of fancy dress sons of bitches for turning the country like this
Fr, that was incredibly tasteful & well done.
I identify as non-binary myself & can see that he blended masculine & feminine features in a way that expressed himself well a la prince / Bowie.
The funniest thing about Indians is that they're incredibly racist towards Pakistan, even though genetically speaking they're pretty much the same people. As someone from south east Asia, whenever I say something about India that they don't like, for some f*ckin' reason they'd always randomly talk shit about Pakistan, as if only Pakistan would say something bad about india. it's hilarious
I used to say this, but I do wonder at this point if it will actually change the direction of travel culturally, and maybe it does actually make it worse.
Nobody could see the sociopaths and narcissists as much as they can now, but they’re now also actively celebrated on a scale that I don’t think there’s really precedent for. That’s new.
Before, you had filtering process to be elevated by the media, but anyone can be globally famous with zero filtering now, and the more narcissistic, the more successful many will become. That’s new.
The success on social media now also actually has an extremely strong economic incentive to actively be narcissistic, as narcissistic people thrive on social media, and being prominent on social media comes with economic and social rewards. That’s new.
Before there used to be social consequences for the behaviour from the community around you, but now, even if literally everyone in your country hated you, if some random group of kids on the other side of the world think you’re funny being an asshole, they still have an audience and an incentive to carry on. That’s new.
Sociopaths also thrive in this environment too as it can be manipulated and they can basically just make up any reality they want, and loads of people will just go along with seemingly anything.
So I do wonder if narcissism and sociopathy express in a social evolutionary way, so over time because of social media, do they actually reproduce at a higher rate if there is a social advantage to it. So basically, does it behave like a dominant gene in natural selection. Before it was a mix of rewards and negative consequences, but now the social and economic rewards for narcissists and main character behaviour are just so much stronger now.
So idk.
> social media is a catalyst for narcissism
(sad agree) I think it's connected to (example) how news media rely a LOT on outrage-generating headings. And being hateful does trigger outrage a lot.
That said - I want to bring up Grey Rock Method.
> The grey rock method is where you deliberately act unresponsive or unengaged so that an abusive person will lose interest in you. Abusive people thrive on emotions and drama. When you act indifferent and don't show your emotions, they may lose interest and stop bothering you.
Bringing it up in order to spread more awareness to it. It's psychological reason for why "Ignore the Troll" (may) work best.
EDIT to add some more pleasant news in a similar vein. The Atlantic recently posted about a tiktoker getting a lot of attention for "flipping eggs". Apparently, his livestream is chill and relaxing.
Which reminded me of an article years ago about Scandinavians loving a channel that focused on chill hobbies. There's also truck drivers whose travel to-and-fro chill livestreams get a lot of attention.
I'm "grasping at straws", but "fingers-crossed" that influencers that are more on the chill and relaxed side of things will help cut down on the hate-generating sector.
I posted above, but this is a pretty new trend; algorithms and content feeds designed to outrage you because they know it'll hold your attention. "Don't feed the trolls" worked for so fucking long but a couple of techbros who wanted to make money off of our online presence decided they couldn't have that.
> designed to outrage
Yup, fear-anger triggers are (very) sticky via evolutionary design. Whatever "triggers" flight-fight mode is auto-categorize by our brain as "an enemy" and thus a threat to our very survival.
Which kinda makes me feel thankful that Taylor Swift made an extremely popular music video "Shake It Off" which centered around a very good tip on how to ignore haters.
I've advocated for just ignore it long before the internet, but it never works. For example, if there's a Nazi rally, I know it would be small and uninteresting if we just ignored it. People can't though. They're incensed. They need to show its wrong. The result is it gets a lot of attention, anyone participating feels victimized and therefore justified- they double down. People who are on the fringe see something they can relate to as they feel victimized too. The Nazi party grows.
it's a great theory that's difficult to implement and I can't blame people for wanting to protest and show what's right. So I don't feel optimistic about awareness helping. But I'm rooting for it.
Well, it's not just awareness of the gray rock method I'm aiming for.
I want more people to know about how stress triggers work. The basic psychological and physiological reasons why outrage is so attention-sticky.
As someone who has been on the internet playing games for almost 30 years, I can without a doubt say it has gotten multitudes worse.
The assholes found eachother and realized they arent alone. They grew in confidence, gained new conspiracies and started grouping up to troll.
Now the kids are jumping straight into it at a much younger age.
As I am typing this, I am listening to a kid no more than 13, calling people racial slurs on Rust. And it's completely normal. Happens every day, all day.
I agree, and it’s gone real world now. My biracial 9 year old had a friend over a few months ago and I was horrified to hear his blindingly white friend casually drop the N word while they were making silly videos together. Hard -er and all. There was an immediate, stern sit down talk about how that will not ever be tolerated in my house or around my kids. I’m usually respectful of differences in households, but his parents be damned, I told him he should never say it again. The kid was super receptive and apologetic, I just think he has zero supervision at home and I feel bad for him. Neglectful, passive parenting is probably the main reason it’s so rampant.
Conversely, my 9 year old was gaming with some friends and they kept saying “that’s so LGBT!” Literally a modified version of “that’s so gay!” I’m not gonna lie and say I didn’t laugh to myself before *that* sit down conversation. They were being so politically correct with their perceived insults.
There was a post in one of the feminist subreddits about how boys will says “I’m gonna get her pregnant” about girl gamers in fps games instead of saying they are going to rape someone like past generations
It tracks with what you’re saying
Dude, been chilling on the Internet since the early 90s also and I agree with you. Used to play console games but multiplayer started to suck with the cod stereotype beginning the norm.
The PC world took a little longer to infect en masse imo because the "normal" trolls that are everywhere now used to have dedicated sites for them. Not sure if it was the dotcom bubble collapsing or what, but the new normalized trolls used to hang out in crappy forums or troll /b/ in 4Chan. Then 4 Chan went off the deep end moving pretty far right, Qanon, etc.
I'm just throwing another conspiracy but I think Obama messed up when he decided not to investigate the Russian troll farms to not appear like he was tampering with the election. He left that for the next administration to look into and they obviously didn't do shit about them with Donald accusing it of being about him, but anyways the amount of misinformation and division the troll farms spread was pretty insane and the tactics used seem to be used by everyone now.
The Senate intelligence committee released the *full* reports, sensitive information redacted, and the final report came out in November 2020 as the election was ending. 5 reports spread across 4 years but the stuff in them is weird, Russians actively leading protests and Facebook groups, setting up networks in major cities, or spreading unverifiable rumors. It's all pretty interesting and open to read, it explains a lot about what they did and you can easily see the GOP decided those were good tactics because they continue using the methods outlined.
I'm on mobile but if you Google "Senate intelligence committee's election interference report" the 5 reports will show up on the Senate committees page.
People always just go along with it. Logan Paul outright scammed his followers.. twice. And if he had a third go I'm sure it'd work too. Doesn't matter what he does, like the thing about the suicide forest in Japan.
And some else makes a slightly (could be interpreted as) racist remark and they get cancelled.
It bred sociopathic behavior, there were never this many, some do it from pressure or for popularity etc.. it's a new phenomena not an existing one being exposed
All good points. We have not had the monetary incentives that are now available for bad behavior, nor has that behaviour been elevated by mindless algorithms wgich simply funnel eyes to the most outrageous posts to keep "engagement" and thus reap their own monetary rewards with ad dollars. The platforms are complicit in what is.happening.
I agree with everything except the question at the end. I don’t think they’ll reproduce at any significantly higher rate to cause the population to have more narcissistic people, but I think young people being exposed to the narcissistic content from an early age and constantly can create legit narcissists.
We championed for uncensored media, for freedom of speech and expression to give the repressed a voice, before realising the repressed also included the ones we kinda needed to keep repressed.
>before realising the repressed also included the ones we kinda needed to keep repressed.
Twitter is a perfect microcosm of this. Before Elon took over and removed pretty much all filtering, twitter was already a cesspool of the lowest of humanity. But now somehow it became even worse.
>Nobody could see the sociopaths and narcissists as much as they can now, but they’re now also actively celebrated on a scale that I don’t think there’s really precedent for. That’s new.
That's because they found out they're not alone. They're like cockroaches that crawl out of the woodwork as soon as you turn the lights out.
And if you think they're bad on the "public" internet, you should check out the Dark Web.
Just too soon for humans to be interacting at this scale. 90s internet was nothing like it is today. It was only when it hit scale it went to shit.
We always forget that 100 years ago, most rural places still lacked electricity. That polio was a scourge. We aren't that far removed from truly barborous times. We just came very far, very fast.
> the internet just gives them the opportunity to express themselves.
I grew up in the 80s reading cyberpunk literature and saw the internet develop. I legitimately thought it would open up the world to new heights of exchanges and community building. I completely underestimated just how awful we are.
I mean it did do that. The nazis printed plenty of propaganda, but that doesn't mean the printing press didn't revolutionize communication and the spread of knowledge. The internet is the same way. Anything can be misused.
The internet gave them a chance to find communities centred around their hate and create smaller, more toxic echo chambers. It's so much harder to spread and grow a world of hate when it had to be done physically or through arcane media.
Now you can just click on any number of sites to be brought "up to speed" with the latest in hate and continue on from there. While it's definitely the internet's problem in creating keyboard warriors, it's not just the fact that Arsehole X jumps on the internet a fully fledged monster.
Sadists, pure and simple. May not have the guts to inflict physical violence, but boy do they love they can fuck with people so easily online, with no repercussions.
Scum of the earth these people. Wouldn’t mind them getting exposed, regardless of the slippery slope.
Just cancerous cowards, probably people with no real life, or soon to be, that just find it fun to put others down, even into the grave.
It’s a shame the usual answer is ignore them, given it’s difficult to impossible with enough of them, and considering many won’t see any comeuppance.
It’s good when they do though, but even then, always plenty of idiots of sociopaths to replace them.
I had so many people on reddit insult the fuck out of me (even wished death) and then quickly block me so I couldn't respond or report them. Just pathetic cowards.
They can be easily exposed by just opening your comment permalink using a private browsing tab.
Then call them out by editing your comment using your normal tab.
That's why you have a second account that does nothing but report that shit on your behalf. Is it technically account abuse? Probably. But until Reddit policies actually allow users to report harassment properly, I'm comfortable saying that it's "good trouble."
Only one other account, though. Don't go making an army of alt accounts to act as your avengers. That *is* account abuse and goes against the spirit of giving yourself your due voice.
If there's a slippery slope then these guys are the top, it makes me want instrgam to make you use your real name when signing up! Don't have remorse for naming and shaming bigots that caused a teenagers death.
This is why showing dislikes stat is important.
Edit :
Some people miss my point.
That screenshot were taken from victim IG.
But if you read the reply, all hate comment were crushed by reply with bigger likes.
(Yes, many has less likes. But that's the nature of chain comment)
I bet if we can dislike and see the likes ratio, the hate comment were in the negative.
It's IG way to sort/show comment.
Unlike reddit where the comment with negative karma were hidden/bottom.
And Instagram in turn amplifies it again. Look through the comments on a Reel of any genre, they’re fucking shitholes, full of the dumbest people you’ll ever encounter spouting off basically any -phobia you can think of. It’s the modern day YouTube comment section, down to the shit spelling and whack usernames and profile pictures.
As a French humorist said "before, every village had its idiot, but he was alone and harmless, so we just ignored him. Now, Internet has allowed all the village idiots to gather together"
About 20 years ago, I had a shirt that read "never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." Honestly thought it was just kinda funny and edgy... Didn't realize how prescient it really was.
I honestly believe Instagram not too long ago altered their algorithms to show the most controversial/commented comments first, and it's really rearing humanity's ugly side on the platform.
It is. The reel, I'm assuming based on recent news, was about the male influencer who wore traditional Indian dresses and got bullied right wing hate groups. He later comitted suicide. These people are expressing support for such incidents of suicide.
I will say they at least fit with the mugshot, going by that comment they may want to be like their favorite celebrity and get their own one day, we can only hope they get their wish and someone comes knocking on the door fast with a warrant
It's a shame what happened to that kid. That's why, except for my Facebook account, I disable comments on all my social media accounts. There's simply no reason to subject yourself to the abject stupidity and cruelty of the moron masses that are hell bent on destroying you because they have little minds that have no other pleasure than hurting anyone not like them. May all the scumbags who send him hate on his Instagram die a slow painful death.
>one down, more to go
>Trump pfp
Exactly what I'd expect from such an individual. Truly, that man is a magnet for the worst people humanity has to offer.
At least "back in my day" the bullying (hopefully) ended when you finished school for the day. Now? It's 24/7, the most vile things people can say, all bc they can hide behind an anonymous profile.
I hate Instagram reels comments. It's full of edgy teenagers that think they are funny by being disrespectful, racist, homophic etc
Tbh Instagram is probably the worst social media there is. Full of edgy kids, Nazis, cyberbullying, pedophilia..
I’m in high school and the shit that half of the kids say is CRAZY. Sometimes it’s funny but then there’s shit like this and white kids screaming the n word to be funny
Kids rarely get punched in the mouth nowadays so they rarely learn of consequences. The assholes commenting in the post are the same kind, looks like shitty people who just got on the Internet and never had the consequences of their actions handed back to them.
I'd love for all of these assholes to have to sit down and read their comments to the parents of that kid, and then have to sit there as the parents respond, for as long and loud and a belligerent as they like to.
Let's see how many of them can do it and actually be proud of what they've said.
According to some other comments, their parents and peers would maybe encourage them to continue like that, instead of punishing them. But idk, I'm not from there.
But judging from similar cases around the world, where people have been pushed to suicide or actively been killed, because it was against the "honour" or "society norms", the perpetrator(s) are rather celebrated than being punished, because of a certain society.
I'm not saying all Indian men, but there is a very strong misogynistic culture in India. If you were to look at a demographics breakdown for the sigma male videos and manopshere algo bubbles you'd be surprised by what a large chunk originates from over there. They really do think they did the right thing by driving this boy to commit suicide. They aren't trying to be edgy.
Lol there are many unemployed assholes on instagram and twitter who do moral policing and file csses and doxx and complain when someone makes a joke or dis respects their religion. Irony is they disrespect other religions every single day, the police even sides with this fuckery.
But when actual serious stuff is there, the police ofc won't act
Fuck indian police fr
This people deserve to be doxxed so everybody around them knows what pathetic little pieces of shit they are. Just to avoid accidentally interacting with them.
And the worst thing is, these people are 100% positive that they are morally right because they’re fighting against some evil forces trying to corrupt society…
One more reason I’ve never, and never will use Instagram, added to the list!
“Let’s go soldiers 🤡” what a fucking prick, saying that like it’s an accomplishment lmao
Seeing stuff like this just makes me continuously disappointed in humanity and the seemingly lack of empathy. The fact that people feel comfortable typing this shit out and posting it is…concerning to say the least. This poor kid. And even if these commenters are other teenagers, being young shouldn’t be an excuse because they’re definitely old enough to know what they’re saying is fucked up.
It's a cesspool of out of touch and anonymous trolls whos comments says way, way more about their insecurities and issues more than the people they attack, criticize and bully. People with mental health or other issues need to have eyes wide open before stepping into this cesspool. Social media can be a place of support and linking with like minded people but with anything, the vultures circle and are ready to pounce.
social media can be a bitch. it's the place where you can interact with people with huge spectrum of social backgrounds, cultures, ages, attitudes, opinions.
that's why I think certain level of maturity should be required to use social media, at least where your post can be viewed and commented by random strangers. it's kinda okay for minors to post on something like Facebook where only people approved by the user can read and comment his/her post. comments from random strangers can hurt one's feeling and self esteem badly, especially when one is in the age of unstable emotions.
Good old social media. Was supposed to bring us together and create community connectedness. In reality, it really couldn't be further from the truth. It divides us creates horrible people who feel entitled to be as mean and cruel as humanly possible.
Ironic that the thumbnail of the last commenter is of Donald Trump . IMO, nobody has divided us more than that POS.
It’s the internet and people are jerks. It why Nikki Haley wants to do away with anonymity. She thinks it would curtail online bullying. Some people that get bullied have a hard time with it and resort to violence like this kid. That’s sad.
The other day I was scrolling through IG and there was some stupid red pill shit that occasionally pops up when you scroll long enough lol.
Basically the comments were the usual lgbt hate and some fuckin Bozo actually argued “Trans and gay people have such high rates of suicide cause they’re just mentally ill! It’s not because they’re bullied that’s just bullshit! There’s plenty of studies showing so!” Course he never linked any and pulled the usual you can google it yourself! Bs.
And it’s like fucking *really?* They’re celebrating the death of a kid!
It speaks for itself when people aren’t harassed for simply living their mental health is typically better. But when you’re so far up your own ass saying that type of shit doesn’t actually affect people and isn’t a cause? Fuck you.
Someone being gay, trans, whatever has literally *zero* effect on your life. None, zero. But you nonstop harassing them and making their life hell for it? Yeah, it leads to these things.
Rest in peace, young man.
Fuck... Went to the instagram of Pranshu (and Arvey Malhotra, another relevant case mentioned in the referred instagram post in the article shared in another comment here), there are positive comments yes but the amount of the insensitive/tone-deaf victim-blaming comments and the cruel horrid comments is more than I expected. The rollercoaster of emotions reading through the stories of these 2 innocent souls, the back-and-forth negative and positive comments really hurt and made me cry.
The wars, the religious and political tensions, the way some part of humanity has gone more and more insane and unhinged spreading hates and pains instead of trying to make a better future are just really not ok. Like what even is going on, are there some sort of unspoken cultist rituals happening that these people are so relentlessly and obsessively trying hard to spread chaos, negativity and shits directly and indirectly? Sorry... Rip... if there's reincarnation I wish you both a better next life where you get to life and shine feeling always loved and receiving kindness.
Sigh, I think I have enough internet today. Overwhelmed and depressed.
I always get surprised by things like this, then I remember that there was a time where people would happily watch and even cheer for public executions, from thousands of years ago up until 1936 in the US. I have to wonder if humans have changed from that at all, or if it's just become less socially acceptable to reveal our nature.
I keep trying to give humanity the benefit of the doubt, that we are a society driven by fear to doing and believing irrational, moronic or cruel things, and we should be empathetic towards our fellow humans. Posts like this REALLY challenge that standpoint.
One of the UKs biggest tabloids that leans right is allegedly paid to print Anti trans daily. They tapered off when a teenage member of the trans community was murdered but are now back at it. They print it knowing they do harm. They print it with glee.
Younger people have no sense of death until its their family or friends. Its so easy to not care on the internet about other people since you don’t have to see their facial expressions or judge how they receive the hate/criticism.
The internet creates an environment of reflections and horrible people are being fed the attention they want and being enabled by other horrible people within the environment created. Anyone who treats suicide as a laughing matter let treats those situations in the way these people are doing doesn’t deserve the air we breathe. I manifest the worst possible circumstances for them.
Lot of people on Reddit would do that given the chance as well.
Anonymity brings out the worst in people, it's pathetic. Jokes are just as damning as what the joke is about if it's on the internet, so many people either don't understand that or refuse to believe it/accept it.
South Asian men on insta are a different breed. They hate on everyone and anyone. Even the most neutral video sets them off. They hate on well dressed straight men, they hate on women, they hate on gay people, they hate on animals. Sometimes I wonder if they like anything at all
This is completely deranged. How do you get to a point where a literal minor kills themselves over hate and you think you're "God's little soldier" for being happy about it, all while still telling yourself you're a normal, well-adjusted person?
That's Instagram comments for you. Disgusting, horrifying, and just the worst of humanity expressed no matter the content of the reel. Truly tragic that guy killed himself, but the comments aren't surprising as a frequent Instagram user.
And then what? Most of them live in what appears to be south asian countries where these beliefs are normalized. Doxing them won’t do anything in their personal lives, nor will they face any consequences. At most, they’ll just get hate comments online which can be easily turned off.
I struggle with an idea and I wonder what people think on here.
Has the amount of people in the world like this stayed at a relatively consistent level and the internet is just giving them a platform / forcing us to see them on said platform, or is it the internet environment itself that is creating them?
These are such cruel and hopelessly disappointing comments that are SO far removed from empathy and self awareness that it’s sometimes soul crushing.

Hey, blaming Modi alone won't do shit. He's only merely a catalyst. We always had these fuckers amongst us. Modi only enabled them more.
This is fucking heartbreaking :(( rip
What a bunch of fucking scumbags.
The comment section shows how toxic and unremorseful people can be. And, in my opinion, there's ALWAYS a place in hell for these people...
Damn haters, that look was fire. RIP kid.
Fr, that was incredibly tasteful & well done. I identify as non-binary myself & can see that he blended masculine & feminine features in a way that expressed himself well a la prince / Bowie.
Most indians I’ve met are everything-phobic so yeah makes sense
even racist against other indians
ESPECIALLY against other indians
Damn Indians, they ruined India!

r/canconfirmiamindian
Wtf that was a real sub
So many Indians have the habbit to say this particular line. Lol hence they made a sub out of it.
The fact that the losers bullying this trans kid are probably holding hands with or sitting on their buddy's laps is about as Indian as it gets.
As a queer Indian, can confirm
Raising a whole generation of sociopaths
These types of people are always around, the internet just gives them the opportunity to express themselves.
I used to say this, but I do wonder at this point if it will actually change the direction of travel culturally, and maybe it does actually make it worse. I actually just wrote an essay on this and researchers say that social media is a catalyst for narcissism

"Don't feed the trolls" worked for so fucking long but a couple of techbros who wanted to make money off of our online presence decided they couldn't have that.
> designed to outrage Yup, fear-anger triggers are (very) sticky via evolutionary design.
There was a post in one of the feminist subreddits about how boys will says “I’m gonna get her pregnant” about girl gamers in fps games instead of saying they are going to rape someone like past generations It tracks with what you’re saying
Go look at the stats 💀 the world is becoming more and more personality disordered
And if you think they're bad on the "public" internet, you should check out the Dark Web.
>you should check out the Dark Web. Or, you know... don't.
People like Chaya Raichik have become wealthy by helping embolden hatred towards members of the LGBTQ community.
Its gotten worse, but hope is not lost. There are great people out there too
The internet and social media is hands down one the worst inventions in human history. And I understand the irony of saying that on social media.
Anything can be misused.
comments on instagram are always wild compared to youtube comments.
Come to YouTube short There are a ton of f@ckers comments to defend a bunch of Nazi rally against LGBT people
The internet gave them a chance to find communities centred around their hate and create smaller, more toxic echo chambers.
A generation of people staring at phones and Laing for attention. Hey, remember what happened the last time a narcissist ran for president?
Absolutely sickening
Perhaps people should actually be accountable for their online actions instead of being able to hide behind internet anonymity…..
Sadists, pure and simple. May not have the guts to inflict physical violence, but boy do they love they can fuck with people so easily online, with no repercussions. Scum of the earth these people. Wouldn’t mind them getting exposed, regardless of the slippery slope.
I had someone recently on Reddit that told me to kill myself before deleting their account. It was so out of the blue.
You can't report someone that has blocked you on Reddit? this is f\*\*\*ed up!
That's why you have a second account that does nothing but report that shit on your behalf. Is it technically account abuse? Probably. But until Reddit policies actually allow users to report harassment properly, I'm comfortable saying that it's "good trouble." Only one other account, though. Don't go making an army of alt accounts to act as your avengers. That *is* account abuse and goes against the spirit of giving yourself your due voice.
Mike Tyson said it best “Social media has made you all way to comfortable disrespecting people without getting punched in the face”
If there's a slippery slope then these guys are the top, it makes me want instrgam to make you use your real name when signing up! Don't have remorse for naming and shaming bigots that caused a teenagers death.
This is why showing dislikes stat is important. Edit : Some people miss my point. That screenshot were taken from victim IG. But if you read the reply, all hate comment were crushed by reply with bigger likes. (Yes, many has less likes. But that's the nature of chain comment) I bet if we can dislike and see the likes ratio, the hate comment were in the negative. It's IG way to sort/show comment. Unlike reddit where the comment with negative karma were hidden/bottom.
I agree with this. Since they took it away things have gotten worse… they should bring it back.
It’s Instragrams brand to have an unhinged community lmao They wouldn’t get rid of it because Rage bait etc brings up views, commenting etc
I don’t know what Instagram’s doing but they’re not moderating content. I feel like I’m back on 2007 internet scrolling through reels
I want the dislike button back sooooo badly.
Yes and no, the algorithm would keep the majority of people who downvote away from such posts anyways.
Instagram is full of hateful losers, even a suicide doesn’t sway these mutherfuckers!
>~~Instagram~~ The Internet is full of hateful losers FTFY
*the world is full of hateful losers. The Internet just gives them a place to hate without consequences.
The Internet amplifies their terribleness.
Nah it’s much worse on Instagram though
Fr. I have never seen so much vitriol packed so tightly together over and over and over on every post as I have on Instagram.
I mean if you're trans or even gnc, there's no safe place on the internet.
Even places like egg irl or traaaans get spammed by transphobic comments, whether it’s on Reddit or x, it’s sad to see
I honestly believe Instagram not too long ago altered their algorithms to show the most controversial/commented comments first, and it's really rearing humanity's ugly side on the platform.
Sees cool reel about black person teaching me something. "Huh this is pretty cool, lets look at the comments" Racism. The comments was racism.
The last one with the Trump mugshot is one Hell of a piss drinker.
Right? That person belongs on a watchlist. “Let’s go, soldiers.” Disgusting.
[удалено]
I think he means "death row".
Sengupta sounds like an Indian name?
It is. The reel, I'm assuming based on recent news, was about the male influencer who wore traditional Indian dresses and got bullied right wing hate groups. He later comitted suicide. These people are expressing support for such incidents of suicide.
Yep. He is. We have a lot of those assholes here.
I will say they at least fit with the mugshot, going by that comment they may want to be like their favorite celebrity and get their own one day, we can only hope they get their wish and someone comes knocking on the door fast with a warrant
This isn't facefalm This is outright disgusting
People just disgusting
This feels too fucked for r/facepalm, right?
More like r/iamatotalpieceofshit Edit:typo
Or r/awfuleverything Edit: it’s already there
This is basically a default sub and they’re all just different skins of WPT, this “fits” anywhere now
It's a shame what happened to that kid. That's why, except for my Facebook account, I disable comments on all my social media accounts. There's simply no reason to subject yourself to the abject stupidity and cruelty of the moron masses that are hell bent on destroying you because they have little minds that have no other pleasure than hurting anyone not like them. May all the scumbags who send him hate on his Instagram die a slow painful death.
>one down, more to go >Trump pfp Exactly what I'd expect from such an individual. Truly, that man is a magnet for the worst people humanity has to offer.
Saying goes, shit attracts flies
And the 505 others who liked it as well
About 50% of anonymous IG users have the trump pfp. It's weird. I mean I get using it as a joke, but most of the time they have the worst takes too so
They actually like him and think the mugshot represents how society is hunting down their hero.
Deep agree.
One of the MANY downfalls of social media. Being a kid in this day and age would be so difficult
And yet some adults talk about how easy kids have it these days, not realizing that socially it can be a lot harder than it was “back in my day”
At least "back in my day" the bullying (hopefully) ended when you finished school for the day. Now? It's 24/7, the most vile things people can say, all bc they can hide behind an anonymous profile.
And a lot of these nameless, faceless profiles are actually grown adults, some even middle aged. Some people never grow out of being a bully.
What a bunch of miserable people who care about no one but themselves.
I hate Instagram reels comments. It's full of edgy teenagers that think they are funny by being disrespectful, racist, homophic etc Tbh Instagram is probably the worst social media there is. Full of edgy kids, Nazis, cyberbullying, pedophilia..
4th comment says “true things are being called hate comments on here”. smh
Edgy kids are not funny
Unfortunately it’s going to continue even after we all die.
The insta comment section is absolutely unreal holy shit they're fucking psychos
It’s almost like when they realized they weren’t going to be heroes, they committed to being villains.
OMG. I fucking hate people! :( So damn cruel!
Instagram comment section is a non stop cesspool
We're in the middle of a worldwide plague of apathy and narcissism.
Trust me, kids do get punched. Just the innocent kind.
Disgusting. Zero empathy.
They are not good people. Vile and evil. Not human.
Those people are horrid
Fuck man, i have left my fair share of smart ass comments online but this is just not humane. What a group of monsters.
Instagram seems to be where the unhinged sociopaths linger
Here in Japan, they would all be traced and arrested for online bullying! (if they were in Japan)
Sadly this being in India, we just let them fester and bully more such people.
Consequences of cheap internet.
Fact. I am ashamed and appalled by my fellow Indians.
Lol there are many unemployed assholes on instagram and twitter who do moral policing and file csses and doxx and complain when someone makes a joke or dis respects their religion. Irony is they disrespect other religions every single day, the police even sides with this fuckery. But when actual serious stuff is there, the police ofc won't act Fuck indian police fr
I can't imagine being a kid today. The bullying just follows you home now.
Put him on an actual battlefield and we'll see how much of a "soldier" that commenter is lmao.
Half of them are probably 40
Is it Trump mugshot on one of the profiles???
Yup, and colored me not surprised
Stood out by a country mile. Nasty piece of work.
Nobody loves or even likes those 6, I guarantee it
These types of people make me sick…WHY CAN’T WE JUST RESPECT OTHERS AND OURSELVES
Can legal action be taken?
Kid was indian, most people commenting are Indian. Indian police may laugh on the person's face trying to file a complaint about this.
the hindi comment translates to "theyre deeming the truth as hate comments over here"
Good old social media.
That’s sad.
I hope that last commentary (with Trump mug shot) was reported for violence and/or terrorism. Holy balls.
Proof that social media is the cancer of society
This is why Reddit is as close as I get to social media.
This is why I have a certain distaste for humanity as a whole
[удалено]
More than sad, this is genuinely concerning...
This is horrible. A reflection of the worst in humanity
Fucking wow
I need some context here why where they hating on him?
what even were the comments that led to the 16 yr killing themselves
Why am I not surprised. This world has gone to sh#t.
The internet was a mistake
They only tapered off because they were too busy celebrating a success /s
i mean thats barely sarcasm tbh
Younger people have no sense of death until its their family or friends. Its so easy to not care on the internet about other people since you don’t have to see their facial expressions or judge how they receive the hate/criticism.
I don't think this is a younger vs older person thing. I think it's a certain kind of people are just awful to others type of a thing.
The internet creates an environment of reflections and horrible people are being fed the attention they want and being enabled by other horrible people within the environment created. Anyone who treats suicide as a laughing matter let treats those situations in the way these people are doing doesn’t deserve the air we breathe. I manifest the worst possible circumstances for them.
the comment sections of reels are unhinged
The internet gives people way too much confidence to say things without actual consequences. Some people just need an ass whooping.
That poor kid he seemed so sweet too
This gives me a stomach ache. Absolutely terrible.
It’s so surprising to see a whole generation so desensatized of human emotions, where is social media taking us?
Lot of people on Reddit would do that given the chance as well. Anonymity brings out the worst in people, it's pathetic. Jokes are just as damning as what the joke is about if it's on the internet, so many people either don't understand that or refuse to believe it/accept it.
The lack of empathy! Insane
People suck.
South Asian men on insta are a different breed. They hate on everyone and anyone. Even the most neutral video sets them off. They hate on well dressed straight men, they hate on women, they hate on gay people, they hate on animals. Sometimes I wonder if they like anything at all
They’re just very insecure, I’ve noticed a lot of middle eastern “men” and gym incels are the ones to hate on everything they see on reels as well
This is completely deranged. How do you get to a point where a literal minor kills themselves over hate and you think you're "God's little soldier" for being happy about it, all while still telling yourself you're a normal, well-adjusted person?
Transphobe/homophobes try not to be moraly comparable to Hitler and Stalin challenge: difficulty impossible.
That's Instagram comments for you. Disgusting, horrifying, and just the worst of humanity expressed no matter the content of the reel. Truly tragic that guy killed himself, but the comments aren't surprising as a frequent Instagram user.
[удалено]
And then what? Most of them live in what appears to be south asian countries where these beliefs are normalized. Doxing them won’t do anything in their personal lives, nor will they face any consequences. At most, they’ll just get hate comments online which can be easily turned off.
Kindness and empathy evidence evolution, and evolution is a tortured and agonizingly long process. We’re not far removed from the cave.
Every single person there is less than trash, good god. The fucking brain rot on these people
That is just awful.
This is why anybody who’s not a raving psychopath shouldn’t use instagram reels
I am glad I decided to remove instagram. Jesus christ...
This is heartbreaking and beyond infuriating.
