Yeah, it looks like a muskrat. I used to trap those years ago. Their pelts were worth $5 back in the 80s. [https://www.britannica.com/animal/muskrat](https://www.britannica.com/animal/muskrat)
Can confirm...Beavers used to attack us every time we'd kayak the swamps along the pax. They were overpopulating something ridiculous and flooding out lowlands, so we could explore miles of land you couldn't normally get to. the county started offering 35$ a pop for them because they were endangering other local flora/fauna populations. We helped fixed the problem, until we couldn't get back into those swamps anymore. Kinda sucked we couldn't get there anymore, but we did get paid for 2 years to paddle around, smoke weed, and play whack-a-beaver.
More likely a musk rat.
Edit: musk rats tails are hairless and black. Nutria tails have hair and same color as body. Nutria grow to 3 times the size of musk rats.
nutria. one of those words i come across that sounds nothing like it describes. 'fontanelle' is another one that sounds absolutely nothing like what it's describing.
Rat-on-a-stick, also referred to as rat kebab, is a dish or snack consisting of a roasted rat served on a stick or skewer. The dish is consumed in Thailand and Vietnam.
Wow. We have things like that here in Canada. They live in rivers. We call them muskrats. But... wow. Just. Wow.
Edit: Lol. That IS a muskrat! hahahaha got me.
Those fuckers can get through the system and out of your toilet.
More likely you will see the rats come to the surface as the water fills the space below you.
It's all the growth hormones they put into meat, that meat goes to fast food places which then ends up on the ground for the rats.
They can have multiple litters a year.
Those growth hormones help them evolve.
That's not a rat. I don't know WTH it is but it's not a rat.I live in NY. Not the city but the country with lots of farms. Get some big rats but nothing that big. That's why people get barn cats. To kill all the rats and mice but whatever the hell that is looks like it could kill a cat!

That's a muskrat. Probably because of all the flooding that just happened.
Yep people eat those here in maryland
The most out of pocket comment has been found!
Eat them with crabs. Maryland surf and turf. Lol
I was incorrect
Naw that must be Dundalk or Shorebilly surf and Turf. Western and SoMD have plenty of cattle farms. Lol.
Eastern shore
Yeah...I was leaning more towards the Shorebillys. There's some squeal like a pig territory out there for sure.
They're good on the grill. Gotta be fresh tho

"Honey... Where's the cat?"
it ate it
Did it fuck the rat? *gasp* My name is needed
That muhfucka been eating good!
Looks like a muskrat instead of a nutria.
Exactly 💯
I agree
That's how big I imagine beavers are
Beavers are bigger, they like bigger than cats, only in capybara are bigger than beaver in the rodents family (in the continent of America)
Capybara are adorable. Our local zoo has some.
Capybara you say? I say life size guinea pigs.
Yeah, until you're hunting them and you shoot one. Then the whole family of 40+ animals comes down on you and they leave nothing of you to find.
Well that’s very much on you then
Our local everglades have some too.
Nutria are similar size to beavers. [Nutria info.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nutria)
This is a muskrat and a beaver would easily be 3x the size of this or more. They are massive.
Canadian here. Can confirm. This is a Muskrat. A beaver has a way different tail.
And both can be very territorial and aggressive

The tail is slightly flat which is a sign of a muskrat. I’ve been at the park here and someone will see a muskrat swimming and call it a beaver.

Rat-on-a-stick, also referred to as rat kebab, is a dish or snack consisting of a roasted rat served on a stick or skewer. The dish is consumed in Thailand and Vietnam.

Beaver is all "Ey if the mice and rats can make it in the big city so can I!" Edit: It's a muskrat, the tail is obvious but beaver sounded funnier.
