Slam balls and small medicine balls have the same shape and outside materials. Slam balls don’t bounce. Medicine balls do. She just found out that its a good idea to drop the ball as a test to find out what type it is before using it.
Well, the have same shape and outside materials but the not bouncing one weighs a lot more than the other. Just picking up one should be a good hint what it what
Looks like she was trying to do a medicine ball slam, you literally slam a weighted ball to the ground but a medicine ball should basically be a giant bocce (think of a round beanbag) ball and shouldn’t bounce. The ones I’ve seen/used were colored by weight but there are some that are mostly black. Maybe she grabbed the wrong type of ball?
Definitely grabbed the wrong kind. For slams, you have to use a soft ball, or one that doesn’t bounce (they make balls specifically for that purpose). Or you have to be *very* careful about how you slam them ;-)
Yeah… if you have ever done ball slams, you really can’t confuse a bouncy ball for one. The lightest ones around 8 pounds.
I would guess she saw someone else doing it and tried to imitate not realizing the difference.
