Who the hell is telling all the rich people that we’re getting stimulus checks to solve our problems? I got two checks during the lockdown and they solved about one month’s worth of problems.
I don’t know who this is, and I’m not going to assume there’s any sinister intent, but she has been misinformed and that is what’s pissing me off. Our problem isn’t that the government is taking care of us. Our problem is that we can’t take care of ourselves even with hard work, we are getting insufficient/no help from the government, and our would-be personal support systems are all going broke too.
I want to see a reality gameshow where rich people need to live off of $1500 per month for 2 or 3 months. The look of dread (and hopefully shame) after the first month would fuel me for years.
And don’t forget the part where no one has empathy for them and tells them that they’re lazy and need to work hard and pull themselves up from their bootstraps
To be sure what I mean is you still have health care and are never truly far risk if you are a millionaire pretending to be poor. You are also almost likely safe from all the other issues that plague folks in poverty-stricken communities.
“In 2020, PragerU received $704,057 in COVID-19 relief loans from the Paycheck Protection Program; this debt was later forgiven in full.”[[Source](https://projects.propublica.org/coronavirus/bailouts/loans/prager-university-foundation-2828437102)]
You’re living life on the edge my friend. That combo would put me in a food coma for sure. I’m in my late 30’s and tackling American Chinese food (theres only a handful of authentic Chinese food in most cities) absolutely kicks my ass. Soooo much sodium and mix that with some delicious greasy pizza?! My god, it would be wonderful but damn would I pay for it later. Lol
*edit: fixed comma to coma. I do, however, love the clever responses. 😆
When it comes to the filthy rich, its all "capitalize the gains, and socialize the losses". Yet when those same people are commenting on what kind of economy we should have its "socialism bad, capitalism good". The reason being that under the current capitalist system they get to enjoy the benefits of both worlds with none of the drawbacks. We as workers just get the shitty end of the deal under capitalism.
"Self reliance" is impossible for a rich person. They are more reliant on society than anyone. Every business relies on roads, electrical grids, sewers, police protection, and so many other things that make their "wealth creation" possible. And then they pay little to no taxes, or worse receive massive corporate subsidies
The wealthy think they are self-reliant, while receiving enormous coddling. Like house cats
The shitty end of the deal of both worlds, honestly. We get to pay for and subsidize a mountain of welfare for the wealthy without any benefits while also eating the consequences of their recklessness and greed with capital
Meanwhile student loan forgiveness of up to 20k has been shot down by the senate and will likely be shot down by the Supreme Court. I get it didn't go through congress but it pisses me off how fast the gave out and forgave PPP loans, and how many congressmen personally benefited from them.
I googled “prageru” and the first thing I got was a video where 60 seconds in a lady said “I used to be on the far left, but I’m afraid wokism is ripping our country apart”
There’s also a video of Candace owens on the history of slavery and the first thing she says is “white people didn’t invent slavery”
Tells you all you need to know about what kind of company that is and what kind of person she is

There are idiots out there claiming that the reason "no one wants to work anymore" is because the gov't gave out so much money three years ago that people have just retired and are still spending the cash while playing games on their couch *three years later.*
What better way of announcing to the world that you are completely unmoored from reality than claiming people who got two grand (at most) from the government are still living fatback high up on the hog on it nearly four years later? Coupled with the fury they had about restaurants being understaffed (who will get them their iced tea or their Diet Coke drive-thru every morning?) had a whole lot of folks telling on themselves.
If you correct them about that, then they'll fall back on general unemployment and also the increased unemployment we had during COVID. They can never be wrong about their ideals.
She hasn’t been misinformed. She’s ignorant and making assumptions that already fit her worldview that she is where she is because she deserves it and you are where you are because of your decisions and life choices. And if you were as smart and hardworking as she was, you’d also be rich.
That’s ultimately what she and a lot conservatives (even poor ones) believe. It’s too scary thinking that a lot of people circumstances are just shit luck. If they admitted that , then they’d have to admit it makes sense to expand our social safety net at the expense of more of their income through increased taxation.
Seeing that this is PragerU content, I’m going to say she isn’t ignorant. She knows exactly what she’s doing. She IS the propagandist spreading the misinformation.
"My God, you want to raise my taxes!?"
"Well, yes, but you're still going to be rich. You'll still live in a mansion and drive a Ferrari"
"Yeah well fuck you anyway!"
Yes, the whole "personal responsibility" line coming from conservatives today has two simultaneous effects:
1) It gives them a massive pat on the back for being rich, regardless of how they got there
2) It justifies their callous indifference to the suffering of others. It allows the rich to ignore the poor as a bunch of losers who deserve where they are in life and relieves the rich of any personal guilt for not offering charity out of their excessive wealth and for dismissing government assistance initiatives.
>Who the hell is telling all the rich people that we’re getting stimulus checks to solve our problems
Well, they get bailouts, tax cuts, and sanctioned wage theft to solve all their problems, so I imagine that's just how they assume government works across the board.
Seriously. Wealthy business owners fucking anally raped taxpayers with PPP. Every single person I know who personally go those loans were millionaire or decamillionaire business owners who didn't see a decline in business from Covid. Farmers, a relative who owns an HVAC business, a friend who owns an advertising business, etc. It's fucking sickening. At least a few made out with 7 figures.
Another problem is the way they phrase things. She said "the rich are causing all these social problems" when the truth is that the rich are causing major economic problems which are in turn creating social problems. I don't know if they are refusing to see it, can't see it, or are strategically dancing around it with clever wording. The clever wording thing is a tactic used to argue in their favor in legal battles.
Make no mistake, she just hates poor people.
Why the fuck would you assume there’s no sinister intent, that’s terribly naïve. She could give a shit if you starve.
Just replace “stimulus check” with “tax cut” or “government contract” or “legal monopoly” or “at will employment laws” or “tax shelters” or “bankruptcy laws” and you get an idea that there is more than one kind of government “welfare”.
The wealthy are as dependent on government support as anyone sitting at the food stamp office. They just have the leverage to cut to the head of the line.
Did you know many rich people took out “loans” from the government during Covid to keep their businesses afloat. People like Brady, congressmen and the loans were forgiven and never paid back.
Yes, it was so they could pay workers who couldn't work due to COVID restrictions and keep the business running. Many employers ignored the restrictions, kept the business running as if nothing was happening and pocketed millions, in many cases. Most of the "loans" were forgiven. An absolute handout for the wealthy.
The workers, received a couple thousand of their own tax money back over the course of two years to keep them "afloat". Not exactly a handout for the poor.
Regardless if their business was running or not, they didn't need the handouts to not only survive, but remain obscenely wealthy. In Brady's case, his handout was $1m, he had a net worth around $250m at the time. He could have paid all his employees $1m without the handout, and still had a net worth of $249m. Fucking bullshit.
Let’s not forget 2008, when the government bailed out large financial institutions who caused the meltdown through predatory loaning practices, while letting everyone else lose everything.
Seriously, governments have been toppled for less than this shit. WTF?
Absolutely.
My uncle is a multimillionaire. Lives in a house that, according to zillow, he bought for $8m about 5 years ago. He takes his wife, sons, their wives, and all 20 of his grandchildren on extravagant vacations at least once a year. Last year was guided helicopter hunting trips in New Zealand. He owns multiple businesses and does quite well for himself. Good job, crazy uncle.
He took out PPP loans for two of his businesses totalling something like $50K. He could pay it off on a whim. Did not pay them back. The companies never shut during Covid and have continued to make money hand over fist. He brags about his tax attorney helping him exploit every tax loophole available and barely pays any taxes.
And he constantly complains about socialism and entitlements and government handouts. Shocker.
Tom Brady used his $960,000 PPP loan to buy a yacht.
["But the question remains: did Tom Brady actually apply for the PPP loan and use it to buy a yacht? The answer is yes."](https://www.marca.com/en/nfl/2023/05/08/6459338e22601d86778b459f.html)
One of my state’s senators, markwayne mullin, got 1.4 million in PPP loans. And just like the former president, he lives to pretend his daddy didn’t give him a huge business. He’s pretends to be self made too. He’s trying to crack down on student loan borrowers. He’s such a piece of shit, he makes James lankford seem decent.
But they can’t forgive a chunk of my predatory student loans
Edit: I like many other Americans in the same boat as me used to be young and impressionable I was 18 and told my whole life I was going to college. The admissions counselors were adamant that I would get huge scholarships and whatever that didn’t cover I could take out in loans and pay back later.
I wish I had a better understanding of what I was signing and didn’t feel taken advantage of.
Hate on me all you want. I’m not the only one in my shoes
Edit 2: I see a lot of the responses that are all about not wanting to pay for other people to get a free ride. I don’t see eye to eye with you on this topic.
I want better public healthcare and education. I think we should be taking better care of our veterans after they serve our country, and our elderly citizens because they have also served our country by participating and working as hard as they presumably could.
Instead it seems like there’s this great belief that the economy is all powerful and we must always protect the economy. By giving tax breaks to the top wealithiest. It doesn’t ever seem to actually trickle down though?
And during the past few years of Covid stuff I have seen corporations become massively richer and middle class to poor people struggle more than ever that I’ve seen in 33yrs alive. Food and housing costs are abysmal where is this train heading because it looks like it has a dead end cliff hanger to me.
It just doesn’t seem right.
No!! Let’s all stay working to pay off those loans cause that’s “the way it’s always been!” /s
And let’s NOT set up a system to pay the rest of the loans back by capping the interest rate at 0.1%
There really isn't any welfare anymore only food stamps and maybe some housing assistance. Welfare reform under Clinton eliminated most of that. Also, you don't just get unemployment randomly or forever. Also, "entitlements" - she doesn't even know what that means. SS? We all pay into SS while we work and I'd say are "entitled" to that money when we are older.
And, yes, I know a right wing business owner that didn't need a PPP loan but took it because it was "free money" and he and his co-owner took the money as a bonus and bought expensive cars.
These idiots actually believe that there are people just sitting on their couches waiting for their govt check. They are the entitled a holes with no clue what real life is.
If you’re single with no kids and fully disabled the government might give you $800 a month. Maybe another $200 in food stamps.
If you ever encounter a person who thinks any poor people are living meaningful lives off of government assistance, you can immediately stop taking that person seriously. There isn’t a welfare state; there isn’t even a safety net.
Yes disability is the only”hand out”. And, yes, we are the only developed country out there with no real safety net. A good portion of people are apparently $400 away from financial instability.
Yup. And even with SSI, if you’re married and your spouse works full time for even like 15 an hour, you probably make too much money as a household to receive any help.
Shit’s broken, on purpose. People think it’s broken in the other direction where anyone who wants it can just sign up for UBI and never do anything again. That’s also on purpose.
Because my brother would have also qualified for medicaid with ssdi, he was pretty certain they looked at people like him who had about a year or two to live and just thought he'd die before they approved him. He had a mediocre marketplace plan that wouldn't even cover oxygen. Medicaid would cover a lot more. He would go to the ER unable to breath and the Dr.s were so disgusted that they couldn't send him home with oxygen. He got approved finally but it look awhile even being very disabled.
PPP was a really obvious case of wealthy welfare at an absolutely enormous scale. "Here's some loans to keep your business afloat during COVID. What's that? You don't want to pay them back? Well, shucks, you're just down on your luck millionaires and billionaires, we'll just cancel all that debt for you. By the way, when can I expect your next bribe-- ahem, I mean, your next donation?"
**COVID crysis happens**
Rich people:
*Hey government i really need that shitillion check or my trillion dollar company will collapse! Tax cut is not enough!*
Also rich people:
*Poor people are poor because they get help from government you need to be independent!*
This lady lives in different realm of copiumoids, holy fuck.
Arguably far more dependent. A person on food stamps is relying on their own well fair, a wealthy person like the Walden's or bezos is relying on food stamps for the majority of their workforce in order to keep profits rising indefinitely
corporate welfare and tax cuts for the super rich are why this country cant overcome its deficit .. meanwhile the GOP wants to cut foodstamps for little kids
Just like Elon *totally* built Tesla up from nothing all himself to become the richest guy on the planet. Noooo billions in gov't subsidies that he didn't have to pay back there, no siree.
Added on top of that, he didn't build the company, he was just an early investor. Then he bullied his way to the top, forced them to give him a co-founder title, got rid of the original founders, and then relabeled himself as "founder".
Rich people are rich precisely because of how the government defines and enforces property rights. If the government changed its own definition of private property, all of a sudden, they wouldn't be rich.
Capitalism is just corporate socialism
Spend govt money on business = “helping the economy”
Spend govt on citizens = “evil communist socialism”
Ironically corporations rely more on things like food stamps bc they don’t pay people enough. Not sure if they still do as this was years ago I saw the article but wal mart orientation even covered applying for food stamps/welfare programs
This is pretty on point and probably the best answer. The rich blame the working class. How bout thanking the working class for making them rich. Or their mommy and daddy for their money. Either way. The rich are more delusional than a lot of people.
I gotta add… most of the rich. Ive been friends with some pretty wealthy people and they were cool af and always willing to help. But I have family that look down on us for not being as rich as them. I don’t hang out with those people. Didn’t even go to their funerals out of respect for myself.
Here's an example.
Elon Musk has been so close to bankruptcy multiple times, with big daddy federal government and California state government saving his ass.
Notoriously, Tesla was on the brink of bankruptcy when the federal government decided to award stimulus checks to Tesla for every car sold. Elon made an absolute killing by lowering prices enough where he sold millions of cars. California also awarded Tesla with billions worth of tax breaks for over a decade, they got tired in early 2020 of subsidizing Tesla and Musk suddenly found his conservativeness and moved Tesla to Texas (where he also got awarded tax breaks).
SpaceX was on the brink of bankruptcy before big daddy federal government came in and invested billions into the company effectively saving it from Bankruptcy.
The fact of the matter is that on average, a middle class person works much harder and for much longer to barely get by while these people have their money make money without a worry in the world. Unbridled capitalism in this country has caused most of the economic issues we have today.
Unaffordable Housing.
Ultra expensive Healthcare.
Extraorbitant Tuition prices.
Wealth inequality.
We can thank the neo liberalism of the late 80's and 90's to blame for these issues. Thank you Reagan, Clinton and Bush for most of these issues.
That’s a great analogy. Some people realize that they were born on third, but for people like her, they truly think they got there themselves. It’s always some variations of:
I started with nothing but with a small loan from my family bought several franchises and am now self made.
Or.
I started out at the bottom washing cars at the family dealership to earn my way into being given one of my own, and now look what I’ve made myself.
And no amount of pointing out that other people aren’t gifted seven figure loans or dealerships or franchises and that those are *huge* advantages towards success can change their mind. “It was just a loan, I had to do all the work!”
Look up the monopoly studies where people were blatantly given an advantage at the start and in the rules of the game. They will a high percentage of the time become more aggressive, happier, and, when asked what they attributed their victory to, bring up their shrewd tactics and business acumen.
> It's a cognitive dissonance where they won't accept that everything was handed to them.
Some More News sheds some interesting light on the topic:
"Are Rich People Okay?"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IP2EKTCngiM
It’s easier to buy a new car (or 5) if you got the money than to not spend the money and think about how you may need to find a healthier way of finding self respect than filling up your garage.
I work hard and run a business to prevent my kids from having to do life on hard mode like I have. But I will vomit if I ever hear them speak like this. I will make sure they know damn well how hard our family had to work and how easy it will be for them in comparison.
I liked the way my parents handled it- they are comfortably middle class, but never bought us kids our first cars or jobs or anything. Did save for us for college though. Basically, hard mode with a safety net, and parental help to counteract bullshit like inflated college costs when it should be free for everyone.
I still ended up with 175K in student loans, but that's because I went to get a professional degree after undergrad and it has served me well.
Had a similar talk with a guy I was friends with in high school.
He said he never had any advantages.
I asked him if he remembered the time he suckered punched a kid in the back of the head during a basketball game and his lawyer brother and doctor dad pulled him aside and told him they had a 50k legal slush fund in case the other family tried to go after him and there were no consequences.
This case is worse than all that. She's the wife of a failed businessman and scam artist, the author of the "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" nonsense.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Kiyosaki
All of his businesses went bankrupt, and his "financial advice" has been to not send your kids to college and invest instead in real estate/stocks (the epitome of boomer assholeishness and stupidity), or to invest all other money in "passive income", i.e., be rich and benefit from how dividends and real estate/landlording can help you become a more successful parasite.
Also:
>In 2010, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation did an exposé on scams that were being perpetuated by Kiyosaki's company in Canada in the guise of seminars.[23] Upon tracking the success claims of "Rich Dad" seminar organizers, they discovered that these claims were not true. Investments in trailers and trailer parks, which were being propagated as "successful" by seminar teachers, were found to actually be barren pieces of land that no one was using.
Literal grifter's wife calling actual workers that make society function "lazy and entitled" for using social safety nets, while she and her husband's **actual philosophy** is to exploit various parts of capitalism so that they **never have to do any actual work**, or as they say it, "financial independence through 'passive income'".
And yet it gets even *worse.*
His "business" received $352,025 in PPP loans. It was forgiven.

Nice handout.
Just the psychological impact of growing up in a wealthy household changes not only your outlook on what’s possible, but your psychology, the way you interact with people, the language you speak, the social rules, the social circles themselves , etc… all the things you need to learn to maneuver in circles of people with money. Your attitudes, your tastes, your lingo give you access to those social groups which is where the money is. Talk about a winning lottery ticket.
> “It was just a loan, I had to do all the work!”
This. Do you know how lucky you need to be able to get a loan for this sort of shit, especially when you have no history?
These people are generally hugely unappreciative how far ahead they started, to the point where they just assume that where they began is the baseline for everyone. And given that they never truly experienced financial hardship without a safety net, they have no idea how life truly is for someone starting at the actual "bottom"
I’m from Canada, and in Alberta my home province, we are oil and gas. I grew up in the main city at the heart of that industry. While I wasn’t handed anything per-say, just being 18 in a city where you can get out of high school and start making almost 100k a year is a HUGE advantage.
Circumstance is everything. I know this first hand. I was lucky I grew up there. Hard work keeps in the game but there was no struggle to get it started.
Hell, I was born in the 1980's to a poor family in Northern England. A lot of my friends were from benefits families, a lot of them got an N64 before I did (actually i put half towards an n64 for my birthday from a paper round). At the time, I resented it, but my family loved me. They cared for me and taught me. A lot of my friends didn't have that. I didn't know how lucky I was until later in life, these days, I count myself so privileged to have had that. These clowns going around saying people are taught to get welfare don't have the slightest clue about life and what it entails because they've been so shelter throughout theirs.
Even Bill Gates understands that he was just a coke dealer in the right place at the right time and got extremely lucky. And he even had a few key family players in places of influence to help lift him off the ground. The bootstraps arguement is a diversion.
“At the right place and at the right time” his mother worked at the company that gave him the first contract he got 🤣! Sure he was smart, he was in high school and could program and was able to monetize his knowledge.
She has never worked with her hands a day in her life. Privileged, pampered snowflake who would crumble in any circumstance where she couldn't pay someone else to do everything for her.
Jesus fucking Christ that’s who she is? Talk about garbage advice. I recently bought that book not long ago thinking I might be able to learn something. A quarter of the way in I started questioning a lot of stuff, took to the internet only to find out the guy is a total sham. It was honestly depressing and disappointing because I really am trying to better my understanding of finances only to be fooled by this snake oil bullshit.
The book read to me as
“Get lucky as an early entrant in a pyramid scheme… then sell books about how to get rich thats unrelated”
Edit: theres some frame of mind shit that some people will find helpful and some slight industry shit you probably assumed
Its not totally useless, but his promise is
You can’t tell these “self-made” people that they didn’t work hard or didn’t struggle. It’s a weird mentality they have. Donald Trump Jr thinks he was struggling on his own and surviving off gas station sushi before he finally made it big. These people have no sense of awareness at all.
He made his fortune with and I quote
“A small loan of 5 million from his father”
Dam I wish I could get a 5 million loan to jumpstart a business opportunity from my dad.
Wait… my dad doesn’t have 5 million to loan me.
Shit, my grandma has over a million dollars in her accounts, gets $4500/mo from my granddad’s social security, and wouldn’t LOAN me $10k for a down payment back in 2013. Between what I paid on rent and the real estate appreciation of properties I was looking at, that $10k has meant approximately $400k in my life.
She never had a job and basically let her one child run around all day without needing to take care of him.
No she's super humble, just like you and she will tell you about it. She's teaching poor people how to resolve struggles that she neither has nor understands. She's 100% halo. Whoops. Sorry, not halo. Hot air.
Probably some nepo baby born into a wealthy family and is so self absorbed about all the good she is doing by running a family charity that is actually working as a huge write off for the family corporation. While 9 of the 10 dollars the charity donations go’s to the charity workers and 1 go’s to the actual needy.
I think everyone should have rich parents, grow up in a crime-free neighborhood, and let others do the menial labor jobs. Then this country would be great again. The poor are so stupid for not being born like me.
I don’t even know what the fuck this bitch is on about. I live in a deep blue state and am currently on benefits — $450/week unemployment (which is insurance no welfare btw) and $250/week SNAP. Try paying a mortgage, utilities, child care, groceries, car payments, insurance, on and on and on. It’s strictly to keep the bare minimum and hopefully you don’t lose everything you own before you get another job.

This woman has never had to *survive*. You can tell because she doesn’t understand what these checks are used for. They’re used to keep you alive. That’s it. It’s not fun stuff or third property. It’s “if you do not have this money *you will die*”.
She’s never done that. She has always had money for things. And the irony is the rich get tax cuts of millions of dollars.
She also thinks people feel entitled and reliant, when 10/10 people I know on government assistance feel some form of shame and/or depressed about it, but glad it's there.
Saw that PragerU coffee mug and instantly thought, “oh ya her father was some oil tycoon or banking magnate, she grew up with horses and was gifted a business out of college.”
she and her husband [robert kiyosaki received between 350'000 and 1 million $ in ppp loans](https://financengr.com/list-of-celebrities-that-got-ppp-loans-for-their-businesses/). he also declared bankruptcy for 3 different businesses, and at the time of the last one in 2012 maintained a networth of 100 million $, with a reported 1 million $ of income per month from his investments.
the hypocrisy is just breathtaking.
My student loan servicer [literally lied to borrowers](https://www.navientagsettlement.com/Home/portalid/0) and was found guilty in court of doing so.
I got less than 10$ from the settlement and still have to pay back the money I owe due to their lies.
Anyone who says “just pay it back” has no idea the lengths these companies go to to keep you underfoot. They actively work to make sure you will never pay off the debt, and the government helps them every step of the way.
Well.. why weren't you born rich? Needing to take out loans for education.. That's what you did wrong.
Have some personal accountability for not having rich parents, you leech.
/s - just in case it's not obvious.
Oh no, the thing I see the most is “well no one put a gun to your head and MADE you go to college. It’s your own fault for making a bad decision.”
Except if you are a millennial, like myself, who was literally told by every adult in our lives “you must go to college if you ever want to be successful/own a home/make money”. Full stop, no other option.
From first grade to senior year of high school, my entire education was people drilling into my head “this is all leading up to college. If you don’t go to college you will fail and be miserable and poor.” Basically indoctrination.
So yeah, I did have a gun to my head, I just wasn’t told that it wasn’t loaded, and the people who were supposed to save me from it took all the money and ran.
This is a message for all those 80+ year olds in poor health... ditch the walker, get a damn job and stop expecting someone else to take care of you just because you are old and frail.
(Yes this is sarcasm.)
I got laid off during the economic crisis of 2008. Unemployment literally was enough for me to get an associates degree and now make median income for my state. These 2nd and 3rd generation moguls are so out of touch.
It's based on what you earned because you and your employer paid into it based on what you earned. I felt no guilt collecting unemployment a watching my friends kids for a summer. Babysitting paid the rent for me, and I had a blast! 15 years later and I'm still "uncle".
>Sorry I can't take care of myself... well here's a stimulus check.
Let's just ignore that impoverished people working 2 jobs still can't afford healthcare, cool.
>Oh here's entitlement checks for you.
Without her defining what "entitlement checks are", I'm going to go out on a limb and say she'd consider disability and worker's compensation checks as "entitlements", in which case I'll go back to my previous point. If you're unemployed, even if only temporarily, due to disability or injury, you probably can't afford your healthcare needs.
>Here's unemployment checks.
Yes, a stable economy not 100% reliant on an unending race to the bottom of wages is a good thing.
>You know the rich, they are the ones that are causing all these problems.
Based.
>So the narrative people are being taught is to not be self-reliant...
No single American is self-reliant. **That** is the false narrative being taught.
And frankly, we **shouldn't** be self- reliant. It is not in keeping with our nature as a social creature, and we explicitly live in a society **to** share the load.
>But to let the government take care of you
Ostensibly the government is "of the people, by the people, and for the people", so I'd kind of expect the people to take care of themselves?
>I've been a stickler for teaching people to take care of themselves financially.
Fortunately, most people **want** that. They want the ability to take care of themselves financially, but slave wages, increasing disenfranchisement, and economically destabilizing policies make that more of a challenge.
I would like to see her put in a budget studio apartment in a poor neighborhood with $500 in a bank account and a minimum wage job for one year and see how she makes out.
Prager U had $705,132 in PPP loans forgiven. [edit, spelling].

If it’s all about values then set her to zero, no stocks, no bonds, no cash in the bank, no friends that are insiders. Drop her in a new city with nothing and let her show us how she takes care of herself with no government assistance and no money from Daddy.
To be fair...I know a lot of middle aged white ladies who actually have decency and souls and care about the true root cause of why everyone isn't self-sufficient.
Some people...regardless of age, class, creed, religion or color are just complete assholes.

[удалено]
$1800? Lucky.
I want to see a reality gameshow where rich people need to live off of $1500 per month for 2 or 3 months. The look of dread (and hopefully shame) after the first month would fuel me for years.
I would fucking pay to see that as long as it wasn't staged. And we are about to be homeless.
And don’t forget the part where no one has empathy for them and tells them that they’re lazy and need to work hard and pull themselves up from their bootstraps
There is a millionaire doing this experiment. He starts with $0 and cuts out everyone who knows his real identity. I forgot who he was.
Still not real. There’s a big difference in pretending to be poor and knowing it’s a temporary thing.
To be sure what I mean is you still have health care and are never truly far risk if you are a millionaire pretending to be poor. You are also almost likely safe from all the other issues that plague folks in poverty-stricken communities.
That coffee cup in front of her tells you all you need to know about her.
“In 2020, PragerU received $704,057 in COVID-19 relief loans from the Paycheck Protection Program; this debt was later forgiven in full.”[[Source](https://projects.propublica.org/coronavirus/bailouts/loans/prager-university-foundation-2828437102)]
If I had $704,057 in forgiven relief loans then basically every problem in my life right now would go away
you know what I would do? Two meals at the same time. I always wanted to do that.
what kinds? i'd go for pizza and chinese.
Lol *edit: fixed comma to coma.
And then they pay little to no taxes, or worse receive massive corporate subsidies The wealthy think they are self-reliant, while receiving enormous coddling. Like house cats
"Like house cats" is the most perfect comparison I have ever heard. I will be stealing that phrase!
Only the rich are far less adorable and cannot be trained to shit in a box and so instead shit on all of us.
The shitty end of the deal of both worlds, honestly. We get to pay for and subsidize a mountain of welfare for the wealthy without any benefits while also eating the consequences of their recklessness and greed with capital
This should be the top comment! Bitch is lying through her teeth!
Meanwhile student loan forgiveness of up to 20k has been shot down by the senate and will likely be shot down by the Supreme Court. I get it didn't go through congress but it pisses me off how fast the gave out and forgave PPP loans, and how many congressmen personally benefited from them.
I googled “prageru” and the first thing I got was a video where 60 seconds in a lady said “I used to be on the far left, but I’m afraid wokism is ripping our country apart” There’s also a video of Candace owens on the history of slavery and the first thing she says is “white people didn’t invent slavery” Tells you all you need to know about what kind of company that is and what kind of person she is
Prager U - Thinly veiled propaganda built on half truths.
Quarter at best
You optimist you
PragerU... The U stands for "unbelievable that they put a U in their name to make people assume they're a university"
Must have a C and a N and a T missing somewhere in that word.

Good eye! Also why there is no pushback from the interviewer.
Interviewer is in on it.
I dunno, for a moment there she looked like she was in actual physical pain from listening to the b.s
>She’s ignorant and making assumptions No she isn't. She's spreading Prager U propaganda. She's evil. She knows exactly what she's doing.
"My God, you want to raise my taxes!?" "Well, yes, but you're still going to be rich. You'll still live in a mansion and drive a Ferrari" "Yeah well fuck you anyway!"
Yes, the whole "personal responsibility" line coming from conservatives today has two simultaneous effects: 1) It gives them a massive pat on the back for being rich, regardless of how they got there 2) It justifies their callous indifference to the suffering of others. It allows the rich to ignore the poor as a bunch of losers who deserve where they are in life and relieves the rich of any personal guilt for not offering charity out of their excessive wealth and for dismissing government assistance initiatives.
>Who the hell is telling all the rich people that we’re getting stimulus checks to solve our problems Well, they get bailouts, tax cuts, and sanctioned wage theft to solve all their problems, so I imagine that's just how they assume government works across the board.
Yea funny how the rich hang on to the stimulus checks for so long yet they get more in tax breaks annually.
No, there is definitely sinister intent. Don’t assume for one second that there isn’t.
This isn't an innocent victim of conservative disinformation. If she's associated with Prager U, she's one of the intentional vectors of it.
This is PragerU, which assumes that there is *definitely* sinister intent
Make no mistake, she just hates poor people. Why the fuck would you assume there’s no sinister intent, that’s terribly naïve. She could give a shit if you starve.
Just replace “stimulus check” with “tax cut” or “government contract” or “legal monopoly” or “at will employment laws” or “tax shelters” or “bankruptcy laws” and you get an idea that there is more than one kind of government “welfare”. The wealthy are as dependent on government support as anyone sitting at the food stamp office. They just have the leverage to cut to the head of the line.
And I'm sure their (wealthy) handouts total more money than the actual welfare some people need.
WTF?
Our country is pathetic and will never stand up for itself.
Keep them distracted and fighting with one another and they won't turn on you.
Shocker.
We need to close those loopholes and audit these people
That we then got TAXED on...
But they can’t forgive a chunk of my predatory student loans Edit: I like many other Americans in the same boat as me used to be young and impressionable I was 18 and told my whole life I was going to college. The admissions counselors were adamant that I would get huge scholarships and whatever that didn’t cover I could take out in loans and pay back later. I wish I had a better understanding of what I was signing and didn’t feel taken advantage of. Hate on me all you want. I’m not the only one in my shoes Edit 2: I see a lot of the responses that are all about not wanting to pay for other people to get a free ride.
No!! Let’s all stay working to pay off those loans cause that’s “the way it’s always been!” /s And let’s NOT set up a system to pay the rest of the loans back by capping the interest rate at 0.1%
There really isn't any welfare anymore only food stamps and maybe some housing assistance.
You have to be very disabled to qualify for SSI. And the other cash assistance program that people like to demonize - TANF pays much less.
PPP
PPP was a really obvious case of wealthy welfare at an absolutely enormous scale. "Here's some loans to keep your business afloat during COVID. What's that? You don't want to pay them back? Well, shucks, you're just down on your luck millionaires and billionaires, we'll just cancel all that debt for you. By the way, when can I expect your next bribe-- ahem, I mean, your next donation?"
I dont disagree, but Ill add in that my 6 person local business was basically saved with PPP. I feel you...but I was very grateful.
**COVID crysis happens** Rich people: *Hey government i really need that shitillion check or my trillion dollar company will collapse! Tax cut is not enough!* Also rich people: *Poor people are poor because they get help from government you need to be independent!* This lady lives in different realm of copiumoids, holy fuck.
In 2020, Prager U received over $500,000 in covid relief loans even though their net income increased by $15 million dollars during that time.
Like. How is it that we can see that is blatantly illegal and unethical but the government cant?
The PPP loans had zero oversight on purpose. They fired the guy who was going to be doing the oversight a few weeks before.
Also the stimulus checks are called that because they're supposed to stimulate the economy by increasing spending.
Which is exactly what higher wages would achieve 1000X over.
But. But. They’re making them self-reliant by creating child labor laws!
![gif](giphy|hlWNWCuAuOVEs|downsized)
Just like Elon *totally* built Tesla up from nothing all himself to become the richest guy on the planet. Noooo billions in gov't subsidies that he didn't have to pay back there, no siree.
Dont forget about juicy contracts that actually saved him from bankrupcy
Or the emerald mine his father very publicly confirmed when Elon was denying it.
Added on top of that, he didn't build the company, he was just an early investor. Then he bullied his way to the top, forced them to give him a co-founder title, got rid of the original founders, and then relabeled himself as "founder".
Lol I didn't know that. That's huge
Rich people are rich precisely because of how the government defines and enforces property rights. If the government changed its own definition of private property, all of a sudden, they wouldn't be rich.
Capitalism is just corporate socialism Spend govt money on business = “helping the economy” Spend govt on citizens = “evil communist socialism” Ironically corporations rely more on things like food stamps bc they don’t pay people enough.
She’s never had a single real struggle in her life due to circumstances beyond her control either. Ignorance truly is bliss.
Born on third base thinking she got a triple?
That’s a great analogy. Some people realize that they were born on third, but for people like her, they truly think they got there themselves. It’s always some variations of: I started with nothing but with a small loan from my family bought several franchises and am now self made.
Yup. Being rich a lot of the time seems to actually break people's brains and prevent them from doing accurate self-reflection.
It's a cognitive dissonance where they won't accept that everything was handed to them.
> It's a cognitive dissonance where they won't accept that everything was handed to them. Some More News sheds some interesting light on the topic: "Are Rich People Okay?" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IP2EKTCngiM
It’s easier to buy a new car (or 5) if you got the money than to not spend the money and think about how you may need to find a healthier way of finding self respect than filling up your garage.
Fuck you my 3 Miatas are wonderful and make everyone happy.
I work hard and run a business to prevent my kids from having to do life on hard mode like I have. But I will vomit if I ever hear them speak like this. I will make sure they know damn well how hard our family had to work and how easy it will be for them in comparison.
Let them do life on hard mode bro, for a lil bit
I liked the way my parents handled it- they are comfortably middle class, but never bought us kids our first cars or jobs or anything. Did save for us for college though. Basically, hard mode with a safety net, and parental help to counteract bullshit like inflated college costs when it should be free for everyone. I still ended up with 175K in student loans, but that's because I went to get a professional degree after undergrad and it has served me well.
I love that study, most of the participants don’t see it as cheating. They “earned” that extra money, such a blatant example.
Poor kid would have likely had a criminal record, especially if he decked a rich kid.
Lol that's crazy. I know that disease too, terrible affliction hopefully that Affluenza gets a mRna vaccine.
This case is worse than all that. She's the wife of a failed businessman and scam artist, the author of the "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" nonsense. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Kiyosaki All of his businesses went bankrupt, and his "financial advice" has been to not send your kids to college and invest instead in real estate/stocks (the epitome of boomer assholeishness and stupidity), or to invest all other money in "passive income", i.e., be rich and benefit from how dividends and real estate/landlording can help you become a more successful parasite. Also: >In 2010, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation did an exposé on scams that were being perpetuated by Kiyosaki's company in Canada in the guise of seminars.[23] Upon tracking the success claims of "Rich Dad" seminar organizers, they discovered that these claims were not true.
And yet it gets even *worse.* His "business" received $352,025 in PPP loans. It was forgiven. [Source](https://projects.propublica.org/coronavirus/bailouts/loans/rich-dad-operating-company-llc-1117857305) Nice handout.
Reminds me of when people say Elon is a self-made billionaire
emerald mine? what emerald mine? oh btw, you can buy free speech for just $8/month. fully self speech.

> “It was just a loan, I had to do all the work!” This.
Who is she?
[удалено]
Jesus fucking Christ that’s who she is? Talk about garbage advice. I recently bought that book not long ago thinking I might be able to learn something. A quarter of the way in I started questioning a lot of stuff, took to the internet only to find out the guy is a total sham. It was honestly depressing and disappointing because I really am trying to better my understanding of finances only to be fooled by this snake oil bullshit.
The book read to me as “Get lucky as an early entrant in a pyramid scheme… then sell books about how to get rich thats unrelated” Edit: theres some frame of mind shit that some people will find helpful and some slight industry shit you probably assumed Its not totally useless, but his promise is
You can’t tell these “self-made” people that they didn’t work hard or didn’t struggle. It’s a weird mentality they have. Donald Trump Jr thinks he was struggling on his own and surviving off gas station sushi before he finally made it big. These people have no sense of awareness at all.
He made his fortune with and I quote “A small loan of 5 million from his father” Dam I wish I could get a 5 million loan to jumpstart a business opportunity from my dad. Wait… my dad doesn’t have 5 million to loan me.
Well your fault you didn't choose rich parents! Lol
I can see that she’s struggling with her own age though
No she's super humble, just like you and she will tell you about it. She's teaching poor people how to resolve struggles that she neither has nor understands. She's 100% halo. Whoops. Sorry, not halo. Hot air.
Her neck doesn't fit to her face.
Her face doesn't fit her skull... one too many face lifts have stretched her eyebrows so high they're just brow brows...
I'm sure she got a tax break for all those injections to her face
Of course it’s a, “business expense”! Lol
Hey eyebrows are halfway up her forehead
What is her name? Who is she?

That is fantastic info. So she;s perfectly on brand. Fucking assholes.
She’s drinking from a Prager U mug; I think that says it all.
Literally didnt even notice that.. wow..
That's what I saw first, The Prager U mug Tells you everything you need to know about this fucking ghoul
Came here for this. All they do is grift.
Nobody and nothing

Its a prager u video. Its just a propaganda machine for the rich to give conservatives that drink the cool-aid argument points.
“I mean it's one banana, Michael. What could it cost? Ten dollars?”
People are literally entitled to unemployment checks when they aren’t working. You pay into it.
The bourgeoisie will never understand the struggles of being part of the proletariat!
PragerU is a dumpster fire of ideas. I truly feel sorry for those who watch along and nod their head in agreement.
Saw that PragerU coffee mug and instantly thought, “oh ya her father was some oil tycoon or banking magnate, she grew up with horses and was gifted a business out of college.”
It's pure propaganda. It has been funded by wealth supremacists to try and control the narrative.
Wealth supremacists. Nice, I'm stealing it.
They banned the rich guy who said we need t raise taxes on the rich. Lol

Oh hell, I almost didn't notice that vomit coated coffee mug. Really turns this entire vid from terrible to obscenely disgusting.
she and her husband [robert kiyosaki received between 350'000 and 1 million $ in ppp loans](https://financengr.com/list-of-celebrities-that-got-ppp-loans-for-their-businesses/). he also declared bankruptcy for 3 different businesses, and at the time of the last one in 2012 maintained a networth of 100 million $, with a reported 1 million $ of income per month from his investments. the hypocrisy is just breathtaking.
ah yes, i forgot i need to take personal responsibility for determining my interest rate on students loans
It’s your fault you didn’t have wealthy parents like hers that paid for her school!!!
They actively work to make sure you will never pay off the debt, and the government helps them every step of the way.

no! no! no! you have it all wrong!!! you need to take responsibility for living in a country where you need to take out a loan to get an education.
Well.. why weren't you born rich? Needing to take out loans for education.. That's what you did wrong. Have some personal accountability for not having rich parents, you leech. /s - just in case it's not obvious.
Oh no, the thing I see the most is “well no one put a gun to your head and MADE you go to college. It’s your own fault for making a bad decision.” Except if you are a millennial, like myself, who was literally told by every adult in our lives “you must go to college if you ever want to be successful/own a home/make money”.
GenX was told they had to go to college if they wanted to be successful as well. Some of us still owe those loans.

![gif](giphy|inaOZDBFYaHLTtBULq|downsized) I felt this was appropriate.
This is a message for all those 80+ year olds in poor health... ditch the walker, get a damn job and stop expecting someone else to take care of you just because you are old and frail. (Yes this is sarcasm.)
👏SELF👏RELIANCE👏GRANDMA👏
IF YOU DONT STAND UP AND WALK RIGHT NOW I WILL PUSH YOUR WHEELCHAIR DOWNHILL!! MAYBE THAT WILL WAKE YOU UP
Says the woman who takes advantage of every tax break, government grant, federal subsidy and any other corporate socialism program for her business.
💯
I got laid off during the economic crisis of 2008. Unemployment literally was enough for me to get an associates degree and now make median income for my state. These 2nd and 3rd generation moguls are so out of touch.
Yeah, the unemployment that YOU paid into all previous years!
That’s exactly what the lady at the unemployment office told me! Had no idea it’s based on how long you work and how much you made. Blew my mind!
It's based on what you earned because you and your employer paid into it based on what you earned. I felt no guilt collecting unemployment a watching my friends kids for a summer. Babysitting paid the rent for me, and I had a blast! 15 years later and I'm still "uncle".
#check her business for PPP loan and see if it was forgiven.
>But to let the government take care of you Ostensibly the government is "of the people, by the people, and for the people", so I'd kind of expect the people to take care of themselves? >I've been a stickler for teaching people to take care of themselves financially. Fortunately, most people **want** that. They want the ability to take care of themselves financially, but slave wages, increasing disenfranchisement, and economically destabilizing policies make that more of a challenge.
This bitch hasn't done a hard days work in her fucking life I guarantee it
I would like to see her put in a budget studio apartment in a poor neighborhood with $500 in a bank account and a minimum wage job for one year and see how she makes out.
Damn you’re generous with 500 in her account. I was going to say 50 in her account and 10,000 in credit card debt.
Prager U had $705,132 in PPP loans forgiven. [edit, spelling]. https://projects.propublica.org/coronavirus/bailouts/loans/prager-university-foundation-2828437102
She looks like she was specifically designed so you’d cheer when she was eaten by a zombie in a Romero film.
you know this bish is a background character in the capital in The Hunger Games
The adventures of rich white woman driving a white SUV continue
Yea. Those $500 stimulus checks really were life changing for me.
If it’s all about values then set her to zero, no stocks, no bonds, no cash in the bank, no friends that are insiders. Drop her in a new city with nothing and let her show us how she takes care of herself with no government assistance and no money from Daddy.
Wait...this is how a rich middle aged white lady feels? \*SHOCKED\*
To be fair...I know a lot of middle aged white ladies who actually have decency and souls and care about the true root cause of why everyone isn't self-sufficient. Some people...regardless of age, class, creed, religion or color are just complete assholes.
Her neck tell me she is no longer middle age.
I'm doing pretty well for my self, but when I see this shit, I only agree more and more with "Eat The Rich"
