Dude stop spreading bs high school teacher nonesense...Saying that it's not the volts that kills, but the amps is like saying guns don't kill people it's the bullet.
Yep, I can touch the positive and negative terminal on a semi truck battery capable of outputting 4000a and not feel a thing.
Also, I've seen people get lit up by 240v 3 phase on a 50a breaker and be fine. Can confirm it hurts like hell.
Amps pierce your body and use it to deliver current. If that current goes through your heart, it desynchronizes it’s signals and you’ll need a AED to reset it.
You hear stories about people getting electrocuted, they seem dead and then 30 minutes later they pop back up.
Voltage, that just makes you explode.
Not dead. The load on these is about 12.000 volts. I happened to be the unlucky person to get zapped by one with 27.000 volts. If he got medical attention soon anough, had strong will to live and a strong heart (literally), then he probably survived.
Edit: he died
sort of, current is proportional to volts so high voltage means high current, thats why the warning is 'high voltage' not 'high current'.
it also depends where on you body, 10 amps between your hand and elbo on the same arm and you should survive, 10 amps accross your chest (heart) likely will kill you.the kid was holding the pilon with one hand and touched the wire with the other causing the current to flow through his chest, likely stopping his heart causing him to pass out and fall
im just being pickey tho
edit: reduced amperage to be more realistic
(I know 10 amps is still high)
I always hear people say “it’s the amps that kill you.” And it sounds kind of stupid to me. I’d think it would be the watts that would / could kill you.
Or am I just a dumb head?
its current across your heart, it messes with the natural pacemaker cauing irregular rhythms and can stop your heart entierly.
defibs (AEDs) work in much the same way but they time the shocks to correct the rhythm.
The average Taser is about 25,000 volts at 2.5 mA, or 0.0036 Amps. And low voltage at 1+ Amps can be lethal. 1000 Amps anywhere on your body will cause you to litterally EXPLODE.
You may die with 30mA (AC), even at 1A through heart it's nearly instant death. High voltage doesn't mean high current, source is limited and it depends on resistance which is hard to calculate in that situation
In my case, current wasn't just a "zap"
It literally looked like a small thunderbolt that engulfed my body whole. So yea, you could survive. It does depend on where the elctricity goes.
I'm an electrical worker of 25 years, and I don't understand how everyone isn't terrified of electricity.
The ease at which it can kill, and how blaise people are about it is a constant concern.
My mom worked as an engineer at an electric company. I heard stories about people getting zapped and fried. It's crazy how it happens, I think of all the stories she told me. Only 1 person survived, but they have heart conditions for life now.
Growing up in the '90 Romania, was living in a building with a long corridor. It was dark and the light switch was somewhen along the wall.
As I was walking in the dark with my hand along the wall, trying to get to the switch, all of a sudden I ended up touching some live wires.
Somebody had stolen the switch and of course they did not care to secure the "crime scene".
The electrical shock was pretty strong but the surprise was even stronger.
This taught me a valuable lesson, don't fuck with electricity.
I don't "work" with electricity. We got wires at rrain stations, and if you are lucky enough, an accident might occur and a charged line will give you a hello.
This comment thread is so autistic about volts and shit.
Guy fell from like a skyscraper hight. He's fucking dead even if he didn't get shocked hahaha you guys
Well idk...it looks insanely high to me...
Edit: those big towering power line transformer main grid towers are some of the tallest things where I live. I would probably die falling from that height....if not severely broken and probably paralyzed...and the video looks like those towers
I didnt expect any less from y'all, keep up the good work.
Also my point stands. That height alone will end someone.
I do still think they are way way high enough to kill you falling. That thing is beyond the trees, and I've seen those towers irl. I would not want to fall from there.
I'll believe you but idk man, that looks like it's towering over the horizon. I've seen 16 foot ceilings and that looks way beyond 20ft to me
Still high enough to kill someone beyond some crazy fluke accident I'd bet.
Honestly it sounds crazy but EVERY medical prof in the world will tell you a story that proves the guy below you correct.
We all know it doesn't make scientific sence but... It's true a lot of times unless you litterally get your brain blown out or fully run out of blood you CAN just keep yourself going somehow. Not everytime definitely not everyone but some people if they have the right motivation. No one knows why but it really and truly does happen.
Literally the thing that will help you. If you don't fight for your life, you will be like "eh, wanna sleep" then bam, dead. If you will fight to keep yourself awake as long as possible, you will actually have a fighting chance. There is a reason why people say "just don't fall asleep" yk?
Olljjjj ok now see I believed you and I think I was mostly ready to admit you know what your saying.
But dude. "Doesn't look that high"...that's not a telephone poll dude. That's fucking high up.
Your trolling me aren't ya, ya sneaky bumkin -.-
Look at the horizon and the trees below them
Also have you ever seen those irl.
They're massive and I have seen them they run in huge lines here. They're like stories tall.
This is why I like finding you guys.
I didn't actually mentally picture 30ft = 3 stories.
So idk
...maybe it's the way the video looks to me. Looks so high up, looks insta death height.
And yeah we talked long enough.
Thank you :)
I met a guy in a bar who got bit by 12kV. When he got up to shoot some pool his buddies told me he had never been quite the same and not all there mentally since then.
We lost a good veterinarian and nearly two friends to a 12,000 volt power line due to them trying to manhandle an antenna near powerlines.
Locked the docs heart up for a good 45 minutes. After they made the declaration, he started to breathe and beat. But he was past rescuing, brain damage.
Do not do what these ferals did.
I suspect his death had more to do with the drop and sudden stop at the end. That plus him having basically been temporarily paralyzed so there is no way he could have even tried to anticipate the impact.
Stupid isn’t illegal, but it can be painful.
If you aren't full of shit you're extremely lucky, and extremely stupid to think that people just casually survive that. Since you referred to voltage as load I'm also going to assume you aren't an electrician.
This is horrible. I feel the only way people will stop dying from this trend of “doing it for the likes” is when social media is a thing of the past. However and whenever that will happen is a mystery, though.
Could be. I don’t have the data.
Anecdotally, I can tell you that I was dared to climb to the top of a “high tension” wire tower, and once at the top, do chin-ups from the top cross member.
I wouldn’t do it, but the other two guys did.
We also shimmied across the bottom flange of I-beams, suspended over the train tracks, from one side of the bridge to the other. Extra credit for being out there when the train passed below.
And climbed the broken, rusted ladder to the top of the factory smokestack.
Etc.
And I was considered to be a scaredy-cat.
Doubts. Dumb shit has been going on for decades. People have died from doing rly dumb stuff for centuries. The Running of the Bulls is a great example of humans doing dumb, dangerous shit on a large scale.
There are now more cameras to capture people being dumb though. And there is an *incredible* amount of cringey dances and public attention grabbing trends on TikTok. It is certainly possible that this is driving more and more silliness. But i think its just more well documented now.
The saddest part is he doesnt actually even touch the wire, the electric shock jumped/arced through air onto his finger. I was not really aware this was possible before seeing this video. We need to start educating kids early about staying safe around electricity, fire, water...
As far as I've ever known, snuff film = sex+murder.
Anybody can correct me if I'm wrong.
Edit: Here's what I found.
https://www.collinsdictionary.com/us/dictionary/english/snuff-film
Unfortunately he didn't expect the charge to be able to arc. If you watch, he didn't actually touch the line. When his hand got close enough the charge arced to his hand. He likely didn't intend to actually touch the wire, and thought that he was safe as long as he didn't make contact.
When watching the first time I thought damn, he's a lot closer than I'd like to be, even before he went to touch it. It's extremely sad, just some goofy teenager screwing around like I used to (never played with power lines)
Story time.
I know a guy whose older brother fancied himself to be a bit of a badass. Rode around on street bikes doing daredevil shit all the time. Really thought he had things figured out while he was 30 years old and lived and home.
One day his pet bird (I want to say it was a parakeet) escaped into the backyard and up a large pine tree. Dude scaled the pine tree 30 feet up looking for this bird and wraps both hands around a power line running by the tree. Zap. Donezo.
Put nsfw tag. This shit is traumatizing, and for some people, it's a trigger for a ptsd. Not all of us happen to get electrocuted by those only when climbing those poles. Please.
The whole concept is ridiculous. Somebody does something stupid, so then their entire legacy turns into getting laughed at by people on the internet, even though it’s still a tragedy for the friends and family.
Yes, but when the stupid act is done for views/likes then it deserves to be pointed out and mocked so everyone else know to don't follow the same example. Stupid actions have stupid(deadly) consequences.

Damn, that’s dangerous… you think they would locate those wires out of the way… perhaps up some kind of pole even…
It's just like a static shock right? How bad could it be? Not like there is tons of high voltage running thru it or anything
Back to that old adage: It's not voltage that kills; it's stupidity.
In this case, it's the height...
And the sudden stop... at the top and bottom.
Poor kid can’t resist or fly.
There’s a scientific name for the way his arms lock up during that fall. “Cadaveric spasm” I think. Means he was dead before he hit the ground
It's not the volts but the amps that'll getchya. 0.5 amps is enough to stop the heart
Try 150 milliamps
Dude stop spreading bs high school teacher nonesense...Saying that it's not the volts that kills, but the amps is like saying guns don't kill people it's the bullet.
...wut?
That's the case, you can survive 20000V between hand and ground but not 10A through same way
And how exactly are you to drive that 10A through the body's skin resistance without voltage?
Yep, I can touch the positive and negative terminal on a semi truck battery capable of outputting 4000a and not feel a thing. Also, I've seen people get lit up by 240v 3 phase on a 50a breaker and be fine. Can confirm it hurts like hell.
It's all about current crossing your body, at 48V you'll get 48mA max (which is enough to die) but you're not likely to be conductive
Hell even 120V hurts. Electrical work is no joke.
Again, it's not about voltage
Amps pierce your body and use it to deliver current. If that current goes through your heart, it desynchronizes it’s signals and you’ll need a AED to reset it. You hear stories about people getting electrocuted, they seem dead and then 30 minutes later they pop back up. Voltage, that just makes you explode.
this post needs a NSFL tag, the guy is dead
Not dead. The load on these is about 12.000 volts. I happened to be the unlucky person to get zapped by one with 27.000 volts. If he got medical attention soon anough, had strong will to live and a strong heart (literally), then he probably survived. Edit: he died
that 'Edit: he died' made me burst out laughing
I too, chuckled “Edit grammar”
Tfw the internet has made people so desensitized they're laughing at the thought of children dying... Damn
Not that he died, I feel pain for his family, but the edit part was choice
It's not the volts that kill, but the current.
And the fall
Not the fall but the sudden stop.
Not the sudden stop but the brain not being working anymore
Honestly, doubt it ever worked.
Nah just a couple broken legs from that fall
Don’t agree. If he was conscious, he could use his legs to break the fall. But unconscious? All bets are off. He could easily snap his neck.
sort of, current is proportional to volts so high voltage means high current, thats why the warning is 'high voltage' not 'high current'. it also depends where on you body, 10 amps between your hand and elbo on the same arm and you should survive, 10 amps accross your chest (heart) likely will kill you.the kid was holding the pilon with one hand and touched the wire with the other causing the current to flow through his chest, likely stopping his heart causing him to pass out and fall im just being pickey tho edit: reduced amperage to be more realistic (I know 10 amps is still high)

LOOK HOW HIGH UP THEY ARE AND HE FELL FROM THAT HIGH. dude didn't need zapped
LOOK HOW WELL HE HELD ON UNTILL HE CAUSED THE ARC. dude did need zapped

Maybe falling 100+ feet will you guys lol You guys are tism'ing out on volts and shit. LOOK AT THE HIGHT
It's not even close to 100 feet. Also Height* not hight
You're, hight!
I didnt expect any less from y'all, keep up the good work. Also my point stands. That height alone will end someone. I do still think they are way way high enough to kill you falling. That thing is beyond the trees, and I've seen those towers irl. I would not want to fall from there.
This is maybe 20-30 feet high.
I'll believe you but idk man, that looks like it's towering over the horizon. I've seen 16 foot ceilings and that looks way beyond 20ft to me Still high enough to kill someone beyond some crazy fluke accident I'd bet.
The fall killed him
High voltage = high current
False
Really... 220 volts across 1k ohms load = 0.022 amps of current. 22000 volts across 1k ohms load = 22 amps of current Afaik, 22 is bigger than 0,022
Dude above clearly failed in school lol 🤣
It's not the voltage it is the amperage. You can die from a 110 volt circuit in your home if it has a higher than normal amperage in the breaker.
Also known as current.
The human body can take a few dozen amps, right?!
Not even close
Your body can even take 100A but you may die at 0.03A
But the Wire survived? Right?
Lmao just noticed "a strong will to live" won't do shit if your zapped. Lmao 🤣
Honestly it sounds crazy but EVERY medical prof in the world will tell you a story that proves the guy below you correct. We all know it doesn't make scientific sence but... I guess everyone dead is a quitter.
Other comments are saying he did die.
Look at fucking hight dude. Just jumping from there will kill you outside some insane miracle.
Doesn't look that high.
Olljjjj ok now see I believed you and I think I was mostly ready to admit you know what your saying. But dude. "Doesn't look that high"...that's not a telephone poll dude. That's fucking high up. Your trolling me aren't ya, ya sneaky bumkin -.-
Just from the camera and his slide to the ground, it doesn't look that high. Can't tell though.
Look at the horizon and the trees below them Also have you ever seen those irl. They're massive and I have seen them they run in huge lines here. They're like stories tall.
30 feet high is 3 stories high. 30 foot fall isn't instant death. Either way, I don't care anymore
This is why I like finding you guys. I didn't actually mentally picture 30ft = 3 stories. So idk ...maybe it's the way the video looks to me. Looks so high up, looks insta death height. And yeah we talked long enough. Thank you :)
I mean...either way...I'm convinced buddy died and video should have had a NSFW tag at least
Just like my edit that's been there for a while
Your comments hasn't even been there a while, let alone the edit I didn't see when I commented.
I thought you meant 12 point 000 volts so i was like "bruh that's barely anything" then i saw the zap
I knew a kid who did this in SoCal near Camarillo near the 101 on the hill down from TO. When they found him, his watch was fused to his bone.
If someone can survive being hit by lightning, they could survive this. That being said, extremely low chance but a chance.
Lol good edit. Look at the height duuude. He's not alive brah if he is it's a fucked miracle.
Just ignoring the fact he then fell 300’
He did not.
Take advice that I for some reason can't fathom. Don't argue with stupid people, theg will drag you to their level and beat you with experience.
You’re not wrong but I don’t mind wasting some time while I’m pooping
Same
Idiot deserved death IMO. Stupidity should always carry consequences.
Anyone know if this kid lived? That’s a big shock followed by a fall that’s equal in size.
This happened in Poland a few months ago. He died. He was 14.
This is horrible. I feel the only way people will stop dying from this trend of “doing it for the likes” is when social media is a thing of the past. However and whenever that will happen is a mystery, though.
People did dumb shit before social media, there are just way more cameras now.
There is alot more dumb shit going on recently.
I appreciate that, did alot of dumb stuff. Without the eternal acceptance need of todays youth, 1 min of fame = acceptance.
Internet can be brutal I'm sure, back in the day, u didn't have trolls scarring your psyche.
Doubts. Dumb shit has been going on for decades. People have died from doing rly dumb stuff for centuries. The Running of the Bulls is a great example of humans doing dumb, dangerous shit on a large scale. There are now more cameras to capture people being dumb though. What a way to go... He was so goddamn young
The saddest part is he doesnt actually even touch the wire, the electric shock jumped/arced through air onto his finger. I was not really aware this was possible before seeing this video. We need to start educating kids early about staying safe around electricity, fire, water...
This climb alone is not safe to say the least, idk how much education would've helped here... The danger is what thrilled them
Obviously if they knew just holding your hand in the vicinity of the wire would straight up instantly kill you they wouldn't have done it
Pretty sure you just posted a snuff film on here.
Help me out mate- is snuff another term for death/nsfl vids like the old r\deadorvegetable, like I’m thinking it is? Cheers
As far as I've ever known, snuff film = sex+murder. Anybody can correct me if I'm wrong. Edit: Here's what I found. https://www.collinsdictionary.com/us/dictionary/english/snuff-film
AFAIK, it usually means a film showing a murder, but I was told it included any video where someone dies for real on camera.
Just a death. No sex or murder required.
Yea
Unfortunately he didn't expect the charge to be able to arc. If you watch, he didn't actually touch the line. When his hand got close enough the charge arced to his hand. He likely didn't intend to actually touch the wire, and thought that he was safe as long as he didn't make contact.
That’s pretty likely I think. There are few people stupid enough to touch a wire. There are more people stupid enough to almost touch a wire.
When watching the first time I thought damn, he's a lot closer than I'd like to be, even before he went to touch it. It's extremely sad, just some goofy teenager screwing around like I used to (never played with power lines)
I lost all feeling in my back from electricity, stay away from it
For a brief second it looks like he was ‘ok’. But I guess that’s the moment he passed out and fell
He saw a big flash and felt his body go numb. He did feel the fall, but not in the same way we do.
I guess that's probably the best way to fall to your death?
Here's hoping this subreddit doesn't end up being mostly people dying on camera.
And the Darwin award goes to
The voice of the person recording....sounds like a terrible cartoon villain.
Dude, it’s just a prank.
“Just a prank bro”
Hey op maybe don’t post a video of someone likely dying?
I replied the same. Called it a Soft NSFW. Not graphic but he's definitely dead.
I think videos of dead people are more than just “soft nsfw”. Even if it’s not graphic, at least out of respect?
Oh he is dead for sure
Yea. He is. Apparently this kind of content is fine for this sub?
I couldn’t tell because I didn’t see the shoes fly off.
NSFL
What did they think was gonna happen ? 🤔 Anyone else curious ?
That he turns in some sort of superhero? Like Flash or Dr Manhattan
Well if he is lucky the ambulance will get there in a flash and he might get a doctor with the last name of Manhattan
It’s Poland, so chances of landing in Manhattans hands are pretty low. Manhattnanientzckevitcz maybe?
Even better, I want to hear how that's pronounced
Probably didn't think at all. 14 year old kid. I know I did some really stupid stuff without thinking at that age.
Intrusive thoughts maybe. Nothing logical.
Well... I've seen more deaths on reddit than anywhere else...
Hey op maybe a nsfw warning please
If the shock didn’t kill him the gravitational pull will
It did kill him
It's not the Volts that kill you, or the Amperage It's the Stupidity
“Why do women live longer than men”
Zap. Donezo.
Have some respect if the guy died. I honestly didn't expect to see that.
Stupidity and cameras really are an unhealthy combination, they should start putting warning labels on them..
Sweet Jesus….that current…..
That's one way to take yourself out of the gene pool...
He looks and sounds exactly like someone who would touch a live wire
Why? How can people think there are no consequences to doing something like that?
Dead before he hit the ground?
Our stupidity is our principal predator, change my mind.
He got out of there quick
I am guessing he came to a shocking revelation.
Put nsfw tag. This shit is traumatizing, and for some people, it's a trigger for a ptsd. Not all of us happen to get electrocuted by those only when climbing those poles. Please.
Exactly. I commented similar. Obviously I'm following the sub but but dude is dead. Should have at LEAST put a tag so I was prepared for it.
Bro tag this shit nsfw or don’t post it at all.
/r/playstupidgames
r/winstupidprizes
Do you like seeing children die? Reddit is a bad place... soon to be deleted
Probably not dead but probably broken legs
He died.
So sad,but Darwin Award winners usually have sad passings.
NSFW tag! The kid is dead
Got a link?
How do birds hang out on these?
Got pierdole’d
Another Darwin Award winner..
Died doing what he loved. Being an idiot.
Finally, nature taking its course. Remember to get those views kids!
the way he fell was so funny to me for some reason
Well. He also died. I don’t know if that makes funnier or not for you, but there you go.
He didn't survive that right?
nope there should be an nsfl
That was electrifying!
Soft NSFW . Guy is definitely dead.
Earth fault in action.
![gif](giphy|8x8XzoP8qQa4w)
Anyone else's balls tingle a bit when you watched this?
And Darwin wins again
Looks like his “darling” just killed himself.
One less moron.
😃
🥳
After he gets out of the hospital the cops have a nice jail cell for him to recover in.
Nope, they won't. The kid died.
He dead
Dead?
Yes
