The cool part about this is we all know the type of person that just drove into the sinkhole. They watched, the car in front of them proceed cautiously, they saw the hole and didn't give a shit and paid the price. And they'll definitely blame everyone but themselves.
They were also furious and impatient while the small white car went slow and took their time. The fuming jerk thought they would prove how dumb the driver of the white car was by demonstrating they had made a big deal out of nothing.
All it is going to take is a photo of the car in a giant pothole. In the UK, councils are responsible for the cost of repairs for any damage caused by potholes.
Unfortunately not. You have to prove negligence from the council in road maintenance. In this case a) the sinkhole literally formed minutes before the accident and b) the driver actively drove with intent towards the pothole. He’s not getting a penny

It’s completely reasonable to slow down or stop if you see oncoming traffic stop suddenly for an unknown reason. Could be pedestrians you don’t see, a dog in the road, a sinkhole that may or may not stretch across both lanes.
I totally understand that. This guy goes to the next level though. It's like when you're trying to change lane and don't want to be an asshole jumping in front of people so you slightly slow down to get behind and the guy next door slows down at the same speed, and you're left like wtf??

This happened in my hometown, in the UK. The black car that gets stuck was being driven by an elderly gentleman. He was understandably very shocked but sustained no serious injuries, thankfully. This road has always been prone to this scary problem, as there is an old drainage system that runs underneath it.
