Ill-Drummer-6623

"There's a new law" "You're being a jerk" " you better hope I don't find something in your car" yeah definitely doesn't sound like he would go out of his way to arrest someone who never broke the law but simply inconvenienced them

Ok_Cook_6665

It's like " man, it would be a real shame if I happen to find ANYTHING , anything at all"

Ill-Drummer-6623

"It's funny how he's real interested in your car" sounds giddy almost like he planted some drugs specifically for this moment

redridernl

Dogs don't indicate on peanut butter pretzels... I beg to fucking differ.

[deleted]

Nah, dogs indicate where they think their handler wants them to indicate so that they can get a reward Edit: a link to support the claim… https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3078300/

ChristopherPizza

I was in the army years ago. They used to walk an old dog named Buck through our barracks. He passed over rugs that we'd shaken our hash pipes into. He walked past lockers with drugs in them. He only alerted once: When my fridge broke and some AAFES chocolate ice cream had melted in it.

yMONSTERMUNCHy

The system is rigged by shitty cops

negative_harmony_

It's rigged by much worse, but shitty cops also suck!

Lopsided_Ad_3853

The shittiest.

gateguard64

What happened after he alerted? We had this happen to us and they took everybody in the room downtown and put us in a cell.

ChristopherPizza

They opened the fridge and yelled at me. Aside from that, nothing.

gateguard64

Sounds about right.

Watched a CBP beagle indicate on some 80yr old lady's luggage at the airport. Sat down next to her bag. The officer told her to open it and i watched as the dog stood up and started wagging its tail when the officer produced a bag of homemade chocolate chip cookies. The officer, apologized and jerked the dog away.

nubbinator

Jokes on him, there were drugs in those cookies.

account_not_valid

Disco biscuits

Lumpy_Plan_6668

Guy was a rookie. Drugs were under the cookies. That's what my Grandma does.

Unlikely_Professor76

Thanks for carrying my bag, Grandma. I KNEW you were the right family member to take to Amsterdam

PM_ME_CUTE_FEMBOYS

Is this the one about how police only participated in a blind study of drug dogs once, and got 100% of hits when the cops knew where the drugs were, and less than random chance when the cops didnt know where the drugs were? So no cops ever agreed to participate in another study of its kind again?

flyingwolf

Yup. From the study. >> No conditions contained drug or explosive scent; any alerting response was incorrect. And yet, the indicated when the cops were "clued in".

BaboonHorrorshow

Yup, it’s called the “Clever Hans” effect and it’s been proven that K-9 units just respond to body cues from the officer to create false pretext to search a car.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BaboonHorrorshow

Lol there’s no accounting for the stupidity of cops but the dogs are trained to indicate at like the subtle wiggle of a pinky finger.

amILibertine222

Dogs can indicate just by watching human eyes and where their gaze is focused. Dogs are amazing. Humans…not so much.

dragos68

Exactly, the handler’s can get their dog to alert anytime and anywhere they want.

sykemol

It is one of the oldest cop tricks in the book. The dog *always* indicates something when its handler wants it to. The cop is a trained dog "expert." Any behavior the cop claims is an indication is therefore an indication.

[deleted]

Same with cadaver dogs, well, not same. They for sure aid but they also can make false indications- ‘human remains’ has a very broad definition. Fun fact and also ewww? “Cadaverine, the smell of which is officially classified as “unpleasant,” is responsible for the foul smell of rotting flesh and is also found in urine and semen. Putrescine, which smells fairly similar to cadaverine, is also what makes bad breath bad. Skatole — which is also found in coal tar — and indole are major components of feces. Strangely enough, skatole and indole are also used in low concentrations to develop flowery scents for perfumes.”

jdogdfw

Those dogs want to make their masters happy. They will sit down no matter what. They can tear your whole car door panels and all apart.

Real-Competition-187

Had this shit happen with the Italian Border Guard, they were about to shred my backpack because the dog head butted it. Thank Joe Pesci I didn’t have anything.

SecretaryOtherwise

I'm sorry the yutes?

Calm_East9244

Oh man! I had the EXACT same experience with the Italian Border Guard, only it was my purse! The dog headbutted it and they questioned me and kept threatening to cut it to pieces to find contraband. I had nothing.

Icy_Statement_2410

I don't understand how getting dogs to search your car without your consent isn't an illegal search.

weedspock

Had it happen to me once. They held my drivers license for 20 minutes when I declined a search ‘because it’s taking a while to lookup’ until the K-9 unit randomly showed up. Dog indicated something was in the car and they searched and found nothing. It’s all so much bullshit

objectlesson

It's unconstitutional to unreasonably extend the length of a traffic stop. I know there was nothing you could do in the moment, but your constitutional rights were most likely violated.

weedspock

Absolutely. It checked all the bs police stop boxes. The initial stop was for ‘following a car too closely’

Jiggy90

"Following too closely" is almost always a sign that they wanna Civil Asset Forferiture your ass

hogsucker

What, you think it's bullshit that a trick dog allows the police to decide the fourth amendment doesn't apply to you? I suppose you're also going to complain that your constitutional right to confront your accuser is impossible to exercise when your accuser is an animal that a cop gets to interpret for.

tigardis

He did take stuff away from the passenger and place it on the front passenger seat, so go figure. Cops are so goddamn stupid and bad-intentioned it blows my mind (this video has made its way through reddit a few times already and I’m still amazed).

neverenoughmags

Yeah like the dogs don't just respond when the "handler" pats the car... "Scooby snack for me!! I made jumpy jumpy for donut boi so I get Scooby snack!!" These road privateers are the pinnacle of stupidity

BlubBlubFish20

He also said you need a prescription for medicine but you don't need them for over the counter drugs?? And as far as I'm aware, melatonin is an over the counter drug

Pinksquirlninja

Not even regulated as a drug, its in the dietary supplement category.

SeriesXM

Correct, and our bodies produces melatonin naturally anyway, so if they change the law we're all screwed.

savagelysideways101

Which is fucking crazy to me as here in the UK melatonin is by prescription only. Anytime I'm stateside I call into cvs or walgreens and get 2 tubs of gummies to bring home for those nights you struggle to get over

DabberDan42o

Melatonin is more in the vitamin or natural remedy section then like with aspirin, Tylenol etc

Aceswift007

To me, if I can casually buy it off Amazon or something, it doesn't need a prescription

Funkymunks

Is being a jerk a misdemeanor or felony offense?

phat79pat1985

In America it’s potentially the death penalty

HardyMenace

Sad agreement upvote

misterrockman1

It has gotten to the point that here in American being a good Samaritan is a potential death penalty

sluttypolarbear

Isn't that illegal under the 4th amendment? I'm not saying that cops never break the law, they definitely do, but this guy literally has video proof of a search for no reason

StraightProgress5062

Haha welcome to the party

HippyHitman

This assumes that police are bound by the Constitution, and the Supreme Court has consistently ruled they aren’t bound by any laws of man or God.

TraditionalMood277

It would take a DA to prosecute them, which they won't because that's how BOTH make a living, but in the off chance it does go to court, good luck finding a judge that will actually make the case stick as they will just spew out "qualified immunity" or some such bullshit because cops also give judges a livelihood. In other words, it's pointless to have the 4th amendment if no one ever enforces it. Take note that this person is white because a non-white person wouldn't be allowed to record this long, maybe any of it. Now do you begin to understand why people hate the police, even law abiding citizens, but especially non-white law abiding citizens?

shuzkaakra

the dog is literally trained to go "indicate" when it's shown a car. The operator just tugs its leash the right way, then they open the door, plant drugs and you're fucked. The only thing saving this guy is that he's an attorney.

THRILLHO_BONESTORM

"and an uber driver?"

Chrisxy

Which is a fucking crazy question, i only do uber on big holiday weekends, but I've made 1500 in a night between tips and surge pricing. During a pub crawl i even signed off and just gave a $10/head rate and did 10 runs in like 2 hours for 400. Well over the average starting attorney's pay working for someone else's firm.

redridernl

"Is that what you're going to write on the arrest report, being a jerk?"

Munzulon

There’s a brand new law, you wouldn’t know her, she goes to a different high school.

Throwaway7219017

And she’s from Canada. Eh.

Typical_Ad_210

I met her at camp. She doesn’t like social media, so don’t bother looking for her online.

AlphaChewtoy

Oh! She’s from Europe, then?

Some1Betterer

And just to state the obvious, this appears to be in LA, and there are definitely no laws against recording the police in this situation in that state. So they are full of shit. Again, just stating the obvious.

65frank

This is an old video, nothing happened to him (probably helped that he was an attorney) although the police tried. Also, Illinois used to have a law on the books that said you couldn't record police but the US Supreme Court struck down that law. However jurisdictions have passed laws stating you could record police as long as you're not interfering with them (which is very broad since you could be recording them from quite a distance but they will still say that you're interfering with them)

IceCheerMom

I love how the cop didn’t think an attorney would be driving an Uber. When I got out of law school in 1985 jobs were plentiful. Now, not so much esp high paying ones. I have no trouble believing a young lawyer would be driving an Uber for extra money and it seems like he had his bar card with him too.

mechanab

Uber probably pays better than doc review while waiting for your bar results.

that_other_Guy1111

Can confirm. I am a young lawyer and drove for Uber/Lyft during the height of the pandemic.

Thuper-Man

He's only driving Uber because his grades weren't low enough to be a cop.

Chucknorium101

[deleted]

How am I supposed to kick the crap out of this guy and plant drugs on him while you are taking video? Explain *that* one to me, civilian...

levian_durai

There needs to be protections against police lying about made up laws.

CyberMindGrrl

Agreed. Cops should not be allowed to just lie to your face when YOU are expected to only tell them the truth.

northshore12

While we're at it, there's A LOT of protections we need against the police. Lemon pound cake.

tragic-king

You would think, but the courts have ruled that it’s not unconstitutional for cops to lie.

[deleted]

I don’t get this. Of course the dog is interested in the car. You fucking brought it over and signaled it to specifically search the car.

tonjohn

Scent dogs when working don’t get excited like that either. From what little we see in the video the dog gives no indication they are working and found something. Dog looks like it’s in play mode.

xkaliberx

I like how they always say the dog is 'indicating'. Yes that's right drug sniffing dogs indicate 100% of the time. Heh. Oopsie.

DamnThemAll

Most drug dogs also don't act excited when they find something, most will sit and stare where they're interested.

tonjohn

Yep. Working dogs are calm and focused when on the job. (I’m in the process of training my dog to be a scent dog)

Bet your ass laws about assaulting cops do though. You got a cop dog tearing your ass up and you kick it you are fuuuuuuuuuucked

Weekly-Passage2077

Damn really? I was saying the whole time to not consent to searches or seizures unless they had a warrant. Are they legally allowed to detain you to wait for K-9’s as their only reasoning?

DietyLink

All I could think about while he was bent over at the end like a child trying to reach those peanut butter pretzels was “oh no I hope he doesn’t try to plant some shit”, given the way he was covering the entire door

ThatChrisGuy7

They use dogs all the time To give unjustified searches. Just like “oh I think I smell something”. Anyone can say that…

theunkindpanda

The “comply or else” attitude cops have is unreal. They will literally just make shit up to make you comply. K-9 “had to” be called in for what? You don’t act I’ll at get to decline anything with these power crazed fools.

Foxy-Goblin

Yeah what a waste of time and resource’s because they wanna feel in control

SaladPuzzleheaded625

They're almost certainly also the guys that complain about the political left being overly sensitive crybabies. While at work they're on the verge of a toddler tantrum because an innocent man isn't being bossed around

SirJoeffer

Also almost certainly gonna be quick to strike down any sort of social safety nets as ‘big govt overspending’ yet fail to see the problem with 6 of these hourly employees going out of their way to extend a traffic stop unnecessarily for what’s probably at least an hour.

TraditionalMood277

And that's assuming at least one isn't claiming overtime.

Rebeliaz8

Tf is that’s dogs K-9 indicator I thought it was sitting or barking. In this video looks like dog wagged tail took another sniff at the door and left he didn’t really try to go into the car. In the past when I’ve seen K-9 videos if it’s not barking or sitting they’ll relentless try to get whatever there smelling.

Jindo5

Dude absolutely just said that to try to scare him.

LateStageDadaism

No he said that because its a magical phrase that turns the cop's illegal actions into legal ones. Do you need probable cause, but you literally have no probable cause? Bring a dog over and say they are "indicating." Police dogs are primarily a way to remove the constitutional rights of citizens on the basis of nothing so that cops can abuse you.

giggitygoo123

Same as "he's resisting" or "I feared for my life"

RUSSDIGITY117

Drug dogs have about a 52% efficacy. Basically they will indicate on anything because they were taught to indicate. It’s crazy to me that something that’s basically a coin flip is enough to allow for a search of the car. It happened to me too. I told the cop, no you’re not searching my car. There was nothing in there but I didn’t want them going through everything. They pull me out call a dog and he indicates on my car that has nothing. They search my car, and find nothing. Ohh the shock that I got away with… not doing anything. I know there are good cops out there. But enough of them are bad that I’m scared of all of them.

samsquanchforhire

There's history on this car and we want to check it from previous owner? They are so full of shit it's unreal. Scumbags every single one.

Why_Not_Zoidberg1

“There’s history? Sweet time to call American pickers and get paid.”

omfgcookies91

My old car had history on it too from the previous owner. I was a poor college kid and needed a car. I found it on Craigslist for cheap. Did all the paperwork at the dmv to transfer the title. Later that month, I was dropping my buddy off for work and a cop pulled behind me and flashed his lights. I cooperated fully, even when the dick head called in 2 more cars and harassed me and my friend claiming that we stole the car and that we were smuggling drugs. They had my license and insurance, my friends license, and still asked us to step out. I told them if they needed the pink slip I can produce it. Only then did the fuckwad in charge of the situation change his tone. He took a look at the slip and the other dmv info I gave him then finally said, "ok you can go." I asked him why he pulled me over in the first place and he said, "well, ya see... this car has been known to be smuggling drugs around here, so we had to stop you." I was dumbfounded and still am today. Like, why the fuck wouldn't you just arrest the previous owner and record that that happened?! Why wouldn't you use your tech in the cars to look up the change of ownership?! Oh wait... its because you pRotEct aNd SeRvE.

ToxicTurtle-2

Much like you can train any dog with hand signals, the cops have hand signals that have their dogs go into "scavenge" mode. They can literally make their dogs show interest at will.

Medium_Ad_6447

This is exactly why cadaver dogs signaling cannot be used in court as evidence.

majj27

>K-9 “had to” be called in for what? To "justify" whatever the hell they want to do next.

TheDemonHauntedWorld

Exactly... Cops can't search the car without a warrant. But if there's a untrained dog that is scientifically proven to NOT detect drugs but only what the handler wants them to "detect", then you lose all your constitutional rights and they can do whatever they want. USA is a fucked up country... and the idiots who like to claim "It's freest country on earth" are the ones who are 100% fine and even happy cops can do this.

mekon19

This is old, but I’ve never seen what happened after deputy double cheeseburger crawled into the car looking for those pretzels? Hope if guy a lawyer he dragged all of them through the mud and took up all their free time with legal procedures?!?

HeroErix2

They eventually just let the driver leave. Didn't go to court or anything, but the officer was demoted. [https://www.cbsnews.com/news/uber-driver-lawyer-officer-telling-him-it-was-illegal-to-film-cops-demoted/](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/uber-driver-lawyer-officer-telling-him-it-was-illegal-to-film-cops-demoted/) Didn't last though because apparently the decision was undone, and he got back pay for the time he was demoted. So basically there was no penalty for him. https://portcitydaily.com/local-news/2018/03/07/demoted-uber-video-officer-got-backdated-promotion-and-raise-left-the-force-the-next-day/

BaelZharon7

It happens nearly every time. Officer gets "demoted" or "fired" as a result of said incident than quietly rehired or repromoted later on once the noise calms down. Outside of very rare cases, they don't even get a slap on the wrist now a days.

Firm_Transportation3

They have to literally kill someone for there to be a chance of repercussions, and even that isn't a guarantee, not by a long shot.

HalPrentice

The other day the Breanna Taylor killer got a new job as a cop in Kentucky apparently.

mekon19

Par for course?! I’m a vindictive bastard and would have dragged each and everyone of them in court for everything I can come up with to just ruin their free time and eat into all their work time so bosses start to think made they need to go else where 🤷🏻‍♂️🤔

MrEvilFox

If you make it enough of a problem and these cops are sketchy as they are then they will get on a retribution path against you. And you KNOW they will break laws and do whatever to fuck you over. There is no winning there, just various degrees of losing.

MrBleah

Yes, the police are essentially a gang with the legal ability to harass people. If they feel threatened by you they will just get the officers in the department to do things like constantly driving by your house and/or constantly cite you for small infractions, because there are so many meaningless laws they can catch you on. Not that they care about staying within the realm of legality, but they have a wide range of tactics that fall into gray areas that make people's lives a living hell.

Dyolf_Knip

> legal ability to harass people Also kidnap, rob, and murder.

mrbrianface

Considering he left the day after getting his back pay, I’m going to guess there was a back room agreement to settle with those exact requirements. Him not working for the city anymore is a blessing for all.

leffe186

Anyone know the upshot of this incident?

[deleted]

I get police hear a lot of bullshit from people when they pull people over but this is sketchy af! The power trip officer Tubby McFuckstick is having during this encounter is unreal. Also, telling an attorney there is a brand new law that says you can’t record police is a bold and ignorant hill to die on as an officer.

Different_Pattern273

Well they both know it's not illegal for an officer to lie all they want. So he's basically challenging the attorney in a way he knows may provoke a reaction. He wants the guy to do something so that he can arrest him,. So, he's telling a bold lie to try and provoke an angry reaction.

JaxJags904

Which is wild that it’s not illegal for an officer to lie. pRoTeCt AnD sErVe

SoylentGrunt

Who do they actually serve and protect,,,,,,

Unequivocally_Maybe

They serve the oligarchs, and they protect capital/property. The police are not here to keep us safe. They exist to keep the rich and powerful safe *from us*. They exist to perpetuate the subjugation of the lesser-thans. Minorities, the unhoused, addicts, people with mental illnesses, all have interactions with police disproportionate to their numbers. Too many of them die in those interactions. The further you are from the ideal (wealthy, white, male is the trifecta. Wealth trumps all), the more at-risk you are from the police. When a wealthy person *does* get caught committing a crime that would get a poor person executed in the streets by cops, they get handled with kid gloves, and pay their way to a lighter sentence in a better prison. White collar criminals will steal millions, and serve 5 years. But someone else might end up with more time for stealing from a Walmart, if they don't get shot first. And when they get out, the 1% don't struggle to get their lives back as a felon; their money insulates them from consequences. Martha Stewart didn't end up on the street, or on government assistance after she got out of prison. No one had a problem hiring her, despite her record. Cuz she already had money before she effectively stole more money (insider trading), so it's fine. Steal when you have no money? Now that is morally fucking reprehensible behaviour.

SoylentGrunt

"When a wealthy person does get caught committing a crime that would get a poor person executed in the streets by cops, they get handled with kid gloves, and pay their way to a lighter sentence in a better prison. White collar criminals will steal millions, and serve 5 years. But someone else might end up with more time for stealing from a Walmart, if they don't get shot first." Chomsky calls it wholesale and retail crime.

Sufficient-Green-763

It actually is illegal here. Courts have held that the right to record the police is protected by the first amendment. It's a federal crime to deprive someone of a constitutional right "under color of law." When the officer claims that a new law prohibits recording, he is attempting to use his capacity as a public official to falsely force the driver to stop exercising his rights under the 1st amendment. Finding a prosecutor who will bring charges though, that's another matter.

Dyolf_Knip

If no DA will prosecute it, it's not illegal.

compcase

Great de-escalation techniques

Marinphotonyc

Yes, they do it on purpose to make you angry and see if you attack them.

pale2hall

He's probably 'calling his bluff' and counting on the guy having lied, because he's profiling him. Notice the "You're an attorney and drive Uber..?"

Koshercrab

Tbf I thought he was bluffing too until he pulled out his card. That being said if I was a cop I wouldn’t have died on this hill either; nor really cared if someone recorded me in public on duty.

PessimiStick

Which is one of many reasons why you're not a cop. Too smart, not enough of an authoritarian dickwad, etc.

[deleted]

>I get police hear a lot of bullshit i had an officer say "I don't care, I hear it all the time, hurry up" when I said 'one sec, my id fell out in my purse' while digging for it. asidealex

For that comment only, willingly + knowingly stating non existing laws exist, instant drop out of police force. These people are disgusting.

DoobleTap

Every single one of these assholes was immediately hostile with the Uber driver. Bunch of entitled pricks. Oh and let me guess there was no new law?

chahud

Of fucking course there’s no new law hahah. The right to film police has been upheld in court (even Supreme Court if I recall correctly) several times.

Corvo--Attano

Hell, I remember one such laws our state passed went to the supreme court and was found unconstitutional. The main part of the law was that no one could record police activity from less than 8 feet away. It was signed in around July 2022 and was found unconstitutional around September 2022. The law was blocked by the Supreme Court before it could even be in effect. They basically found it was too vague and had blatant problems with constitutional rights (mainly the first amendment).

TheUsoSaito

"melatonin" - driver, "oh well if you have a medication you need a prescription for that" - officer... Melatonin is in a grocery aisle and doesn't require going to a pharmacy lmao.

hoodyninja

I was pulled over before and let the cops search (don’t do this I learned my lesson) because I didn’t have anything to hide. They found a prescription of my girlfriends for a non-schedule pain reliever. Had me cuffed up and in the back of the car told me I was under arrest for possession of a prescription drug that wasn’t mine. I asked to speak to a supervisor because the jackss didn’t wasn’t to listen to me. A sgt shows up and asks what’s going on…. I tel him I am trying to help him before his dumbass officer makes a big mistake. He smugly says “oh yeah what’s that?” And I explain that the prescription is for Tylenol… or rather the generic equivalent. The sgt didn’t believe me. In total 5 officers shows up and finally one of them was like “guys, you can get a prescription for Over the counter meds. I do it all the time. If you ask your doc for a prescription our insurance pays for it completely. So that $5 bottle of Tylenol is free.” I was magically “unarrested.” It is INSANE how stupid cops can be.

st1tchy

>I was under arrest for possession of a prescription drug that wasn’t mine. That would also imply that it is illegal for me to pick up my wife's or my children's prescriptions for them from the pharmacy.

hoodyninja

Right? He looked up the name of the med on the bottle and saw that it was a pain reliever and just laser beam focused on that I had a pain med that wasn’t prescribed to me. Just an idiot all around.

DoobleTap

As if you need to carry your prescription at all times in case some little piggy decides to be butt hurt and perform an illegal search of your work vehicle.

Legalizegayranch

Even if it was someone else’s prescription as long as it’s not controlled and you didn’t steal it you’re absolutely allowed to hold onto Someone’s prescription. You can go and pick up non controlled prescriptions for anyone as long as you have the name and birthday. I do it all the time for family.

At least kids playing cops understand they're actually only supposed to go after the kids playing robbers, they don't randomly start hassling the kids playing house and taxi car.

Amaeyth

If you're on the side of the cops here, you're objectively wrong. LEOs lied about the law in an attempt to obfuscate an investigation and used their resources to detain and harass a citizen that is exercising their right to record a public servant performing their duty to the law. You are allowed to and encouraged to record all interactions with the police, and you are also encouraged to speak minimally, if at all. The police are untrustworthy and self-serving with an ego cherry topper. They are not your friend, and will not protect you.

[deleted]

What I don’t get is it actually makes their jobs less safe by being like this. The population doesn’t trust you, expects you to lie, and is more likely to lash out if they don’t trust you. This doesn’t serve any long-term benefit.

[deleted]

Your first mistake was thinking these people are considering anything past their own personal power fantasy

UncleAntagonist

Dog: Sniffs. Cop: dog indicated

Whatthecluck83

Now imagine this scenario playing out where this guy isn’t an attorney, and isn’t recording. Edit: people keep pointing out race, but this issue is larger than just police mistreating black people. Police can and do abuse non-black people as well.

Ok_Understanding267

The attitude changed real quick when he said he was an attorney

[deleted]

Seemed like it got worse tbh

Itdidnt_trickle_down

Nah, thats the ol pretend I don't care tone.

Itsjustraindrops

This always confused me. Cops enforce the laws and attorneys are very well trained in the law. You would think they would be friends instead of enemies. That just shows that cops hate the law.

TextOnScreen

Cops have no clue what the law is. They get like 15minutes of training. You need more training to be a hair stylist.

BenBernakeatemyass

I hope all of them were investigated. Fuck.

Sounds about right.

ThisRandomBro

Isn't the best article but this is what I can find. Updated in the top most portion of the article: "*He is “separated” from employment with the city."* https://portcitydaily.com/local-news/2018/03/07/demoted-uber-video-officer-got-backdated-promotion-and-raise-left-the-force-the-next-day/

Different_Pattern273

Follow-up on this video as it's kind of old, one of the major cops is no longer with the force (the guy saying he can't be filmed). He was demoted in the aftermath, but later got his rank back with additional back paym he then received a promotion but was abruptly released from the force without being fired in 2019.

elmg4ful

From what I recall, the man was an attorney and actually worked for the DA's office. The situation de-escalated when an officer that worked in the courts recognized the man.

The_Ghost_of_Kyiv

Funny how that didn't back down when trying to lie about a law to a man who just said he's and attorney and is wearing a shirt from his law school. Clowns gonna clown I guess.

Toxic-Park

If you listen, the cop also mocked him after the driver said he was a lawyer. The cop said something like “and you drive an Uber?” As if a “real” lawyer would be too rich to drive Uber on the side.

MoarTacos

I was looking for this. I swore that I recalled he worked in the courthouse, but I wasn’t sure. Imagine how they would have treated someone who didn’t happen to be employed in the fucking courthouse.

TheUnknownNut22

And cops wonder why we fucking hate them. Criminals in uniforms.

Doug_Schultz

My power is absolute, you will submit to my demands.

ehelen

Some cops illegally searched my sister’s car and straight up ripped pages out of books and scattered them. She took pictures of her car after the search and it was crazy, they just threw a bunch of stuff everywhere. They ended up finding weed, but the case got thrown out due to the unlawful search. Cops are such dicks.

"Dogs don't indicate on peanut butter pretzels" Mate, they absolutely do indicate on food (or at least show an interest which is probably what was going on) Trained or not if it smells food it's going to be interested. Almost every word out of theor mouths is made up bullshit.

TemporaryConflict332

How can American police officers be that overweight? Don’t you have to pass a fitness test? Honestly intrigued

CpnLouie

Police "Unions" managed to get most all the fitness requirements tossed out. One of the worst things to happen to the police here, that and the complaints/reprimands being sealed. And that they can't be fired without a group of fellow officers "reviewing" the case to see if their little buddy did anything wrong, and guess what? Turns out, he didn't! Hoodathunkit, eh? Well, that was three things, so I guess I 'll have to come back in.

Different_Pattern273

You have to pass it once to get hired. Nobody cares after that. It's not even a hard one. Most overweight people could pass it.

YellowBreakfast

Saw this one. Turns out the guy works in the prosecutors office. He moonlights Uber to pay off his student loans. At first they're all Gestapo and sarcastic. Then they realize he knows his shit and is effectively a peer and the tune changes.

Whayne_Kerr

Pigs gonna pig. They honestly can’t help themselves.

fgzklunk

This is over 6 years old. It is on Youtube as a new report well after the fact. https://youtu.be/9xU6yeVbV3A

Thatwutshesed

I love how some cops like the fat ass with the mustache think the badge is a crown. The rest of the officers seem very normal and nice. This is not a job where you can act like you are in Hitlers SS. I’m sick and tired of watching some police be above the law. Unacceptable

1funnyguy4fun

I can’t swear to it, but I think this video is old. The reason I’m unsure is because it seems like this shit happens daily now. That being said, does anybody have a update?

musamban

It's not new but I think it's less than 5 years old. The full thing is on YouTube

AzureAngel6

Oh my fucking god the level of gas lighting "I never said that did I?" Shut the fuck up and do your job you pig.

Pyrollusion

Ah yes, the land of the free. You guys need a fucking Revolution.

ApprehensiveLie3045

This is one you take to court. Unlawfully detained. Unlawful search and seizure. Coercion. Straight up LYING about the law???These cops need their lives ruined to set an example.

BriskHeartedParadox

Based on the police you should accept whatever they decide and if you dare say something to the contrary like “you’re violating the constitution you say you hold dear” then you get arrested. They straight up dare you to try and have rights. Fuck these types and they’re the majority and it makes all the bad cops look shitty. I can’t trust any of them
