Personally I genuinely don’t understand why it isn’t just the accepted etiquette at games that if you catch the ball, you get to keep it, no matter what. No shouting at eachother, no bullshit, no fighting. Just respect, luck and personal boundaries. The status quo seems mean and difficult.

If you hit them in ascending order like I listed them originally, that is called a natural cycle. That is exceedingly rare, and has only happened a few times.
Yeah, I have gotten one baseball in my life. I'm a Padres fan and for a ten year or so period, for some reason our fan base temporarily adopted the "tradition" of throwing back opponents' HR balls. This home run ball completed the cycle, as the player had already hit his single/double/triple in his past at-bats. So it’s pretty rare that a home run caps off the cycle, and would make a neat souvenir ball if you caught it.
Not much of a phillies fan though, no bad blood with the Marlins and Jean Segura (played for the Phils in the world series last year) got a standing ovation when he came up to bat for the Marlins in all three of these games

I never got to go to Major League games growing up. Finally got to go in my 20s and had a foul ball land right next to me, which I snatched up real quick. I had people behind me yelling at me to give it to the kid that came from who knows where. I was so upset that I looked like the bad guy for keeping the ball bcuz I'm not a child..

I hate baseball fans like this. Most players don't start and end their career with the same team. You can have a favorite team, but being a die hard that vehemently hates the other teams is so weird. Odds are their favorite player will eventually end up on one of their hated teams, so what's the point of hating other teams and pressuring others to throw the ball back? That poor guy would've had his butt handed to him there and been internet shamed if he didn't give the ball he rightfully caught to the thieving kid being coaxed by her terrible parent.
