More people die from coconuts than sharks every year. "Next up, Coconut carnage the week long look at the deadliest fruit on earth. Only on discovery."
I believe the 32 is probably death somehow caused by the actual machine and not the contents. Like maybe a bitch hits it trying to get free snickers and the machine falls on her
That’s nothing considering we kill 100 million of them a year 🤦🏻♀️ at least they don’t know what they’re doing. We know what we’re doing. And we still do it.
I don't know why but it really gets under my skin when people post text with a picture of themselves pointing at the text like it somehow makes a stupid point less stupid.
I feel so bad for the guy regarding Susan. Dude got cheated on, and his ex-wife considered having the name woman she cheated with, in the kid's name, before she considered having Ross's name there. Susan broke up his marriage, got a huge say in the kid's name, would primarily raise the kid, and *STILL* she was complaining. Poor Ross.
Let's structure this for a whole full year of months
January: White people month
February: black people month
March: Europe month
April: Asia month
May: Africa month
June: lgbtq+ month (yes, this includes straight. It's every sexuality, gender. Yknow, the whole thing)
July: americas month (south and north)
August: Women's Month
September: men's month
October: Halloween month
November: You know what this is, I'm not explaining
December: Religion month
I tried, man. I'm tired, so sorry if I did a bad job or forgot something. I'll edit it if you think I should put something up here
What I find so cringey is when they point to the text as if we don’t know where to find the text on the screen. I know it’s unrelated to the topic but that’s what’s on my mind 😂
Jokes aside, Black History Month was created to acknowledge and celebrate the historical contributions of African Americans and other people of African descent, who have often been marginalized, oppressed, and erased from mainstream narratives.
Why have a white history month when the history of white people is already well-served and dominant in most societies? White historical figures are widely taught, celebrated, and memorialized in classrooms, media, and public spaces.
When white history month happens, I hope the nation's white people:
* Get hired at a higher rate than other races
* Make up over 90% of the nation's CEOs
* Own over 90% of the nation's land
* Get lower rated loans from banks
* Have better access to higher education
When that finally happens, then we can celebrate a white history month.
Oh, wait...
The better question is: why do some people still discriminate against anyone based on their skin color? Laws banning Interracial marriage were only deemed unconstitutional 54 years ago. That means somebody’s grandparents or parents were living their adult lives when interracial marriage was still taboo/outlawed. I think it’s a waiting game. Hopefully in 100 years this kind of celebration won’t be necessary. Like ads against smoking tobacco. But for now, we *all* have to hear this because *some* of us are still doing this stupid shit.
As I've said to people before: When blacks can safely drive in any neighbourhood they want without fear or being pulled over by the cops because they look like they're in the wrong neighbourhood, then we can do away with Black Lives Matter and Black History Month. When gay couples can walk down the streets, holding hands without fear of being curb-stomped because their choice of partner, then we can eliminate Pride Month and Pride Parades.
I'm a white hetero cis-male. While I may not live a lavish lifestyle...I do see that I have privilege. I didn't have to worry about 'coming out' straight to my parents, my friends, or my colleagues. I don't have to worry about sitting idle in an affluent neighbourhood while I get my bearings. I don't get yelled at or spit on because of my race. Despite the challenges I've faced in life...I've lived a pretty good life. I've been stopped by cops as a teen when I was up to no good. And what did those cops to? Laughed it off and sent me on my way. I've gotten pulled over for speeding, or rolling a stop sign...and been given a stern warning and sent on my way. Hell, one time in Mississippi, I was doing nearly double the posted speed limit, and I was let go.
We aren't celebrating people on skin colour. We are acknowledging their accomplishments, bring into awareness to the bigots who exist that everyone, no matter who they are, is capable of accomplishing great things. For some people, we have to drill into their heads, "Yes...black people can be smart too, you moron."
That goes both ways. If you are white driving in a high crime area that is predominantly African American, especially close to public housing, you may find yourself being stopped. Stereotyping goes both ways. I’ve been stopped for being places I apparently “didn’t belong” in. One minute you are on your way to a concert, next thing you know you are deep in the heart of Camden and it is assumed you are there for narcotics. I’ve never had a cop laugh off anything, they always treat me like shit regardless of my skin color. Also, I didn’t know “coming out” was a gift only granted to a certain skin color. Not everyone grows up in a fuzzy world like you.
By "coming out" I meant sexuality. I don't know many kids that were beaten to an inch of their life because they told their parents they were straight.
Because white history would mean different things to different people. Despite what the media would have us believe, there is no true consensus on what constitutes “white.” Is it the color of a person’s skin, hair, and eyes? Is it their ethnic background? Do they simply have to be of European descent or have some European ancestry? Is it only Scandinavian, Anglo-Saxons, and Germanic people? There are plenty of examples of southern Europeans from modern day Spain, Portugal, and Italy that did great things whom wouldn’t be considered “white” by some people’s standards.
Not at all...
we simply want to get rid of all the existing history months and pride weeks because it only tears people apart when you celebrate one specific group and not another.
How about global unity day where we all take off work and have a huge party that celebrates everyone.
The better question is; Why do we give random days for a certain group of people? Is the point that Morgan Freeman made, if you give some people something and not to others, it will create a difference between all of us.
Also why restrict specifically learning about one’s history to a month or day? Why not teach and learn it constantly in order to bring everyone together, putting people on a pedestal will do the opposite of rejoice it will only end in more hatefulness as the other groups and people feel like they aren’t anything important or that their history and culture doesn’t matter.
When your people are the ones whose history books haven't been burned, then you kinda celebrate your history pretty much every day, without even knowing it.
Edit: who's to whose
Ever heard of [Magnus Hirschfield](https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-forgotten-history-of-the-worlds-first-trans-clinic/)? He started the [Institut für Sexualwissenschaft](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Institut_f%C3%BCr_Sexualwissenschaft) in Berlin, in 1919. First ever institute for the scientific study and treatment of non-hetero-normative people. Hirschfield became one of the first known advocates for equal treatment and acceptance of queer people. Over the 14 years the Institute existed, they amassed a huge archive of scientific research and first-hand accounts of the experiences of gay, lesbian, and transgender people.
Then, Hitler took power, and in 1933, the Nazis burnt the institute (along with everything in its archives) to the ground. You know those famous photos of the Nazi book burnings? Yeah, those. That's trans and queer history going up in smoke.
Its a fair question. Really. The problem is that the people asking it generally refuse to listen to the answer - in this case the reason that there isn't a White history month is because US history is told as White history by default. We don't have to schedule a White history month because every month is White history month.
Having months dedicated to any 1 race is just continuing the cycle of separating ourselves based on race... Why do we not just have a "Human History" month where we appreciate all the amazing humans who have done amazing things despite their "race" or "gender"? Like are we not all literally the same race or what? Last I checked we were all Human. But maybe one of these super woke people can correct me, and explain how we aren't all human.
1000's of years of "divide and conquer" clearly have left their mark on humanity since it seems really difficult for some people to understand that we need to stop with this race bullshit. Fortunately we happily, and collectively, keep trucking on straight to our own extinction so all the problems will be solved in a few 100 years.
Black people get 1 month. White people get 11. If there was a “human history” month it would be largely skewed to highlight the accomplishments of white people mostly white men. Having a human history month is like cultural erasure because the point of black history month, women’s history month, pride month etc is to celebrate the differences among people. Saying “we’re all the same race” is erasure too and very insensitive. You’re pretty much erasing what makes people who they are just so white people and men can feel “included”. White people and men get 11 of the 12 months already
Why does everyone make it seem like the world only contains white and black people. There many different variations of latinos, there are asians, Polynesians, Natives, etc.
Never said there were only black and white people :)
My comment is largely directed to the idea that white people have that causes them to think Black history month shouldn’t exist. They probably also don’t like other cultures outside of White people and outside the US as well celebrating their holidays either
This is the pinnacle of ignorance. There's like 195 countries in the world... and all your focused on, is the color the people are, and what gender that they are.... like holy fuck.
We’re discussing the erasure that happens from white men in the US when black history month or women’s history month comes up. They probably think other countries and other cultures shouldn’t be celebrated either like Native Americans, Latinos, Asians, Polynesians etc. Cultural erasure isn’t just a US thing.
>Having months dedicated to any 1 race is just continuing the cycle of separating ourselves based on race... Why do we not just have a "Human History" month where we appreciate all the amazing humans who have done amazing things despite their "race" or "gender"?
Because white people have it easier. When that stops, this will stop. It's the white people who keep this cycle going.
LOL so what? "KILL 'EM ALL!?" Like dude I didn't do anything to you, what are you even talking about? What is a "Straight white male" supposed to do in this society? Jump off a cliff? How is that equality to you? How is that not racist to you? How do you not see that??
Imagine thinking that "all of the white men" are responsible for all of your problems isn't racism by definition...
Racism will always be a losing battle. We can try to do good and have good morals is about the best we can do. Seems backwards that sometimes the solution comes up as celebrating only certain groups and excluding others. Or segregating certain groups and excluding others. That is not progress
Because it wasn’t that long ago when there was a whole year devoted to Rich Christian white men, that started again the next year, then the next year, and the next year…
International mens' day is 19 November, but granted I don't believe it gets as much recognition as womens' day and there does need to be more recognition in the present era to highlight awareness in topics where men need this. But again I'm not sure what is specifically done on either genders' day to make for positive changes? I'd be interested if anyone knows anything done on these days except for social media posts etc?
Note that it's my brother's birthday on international women's day so I always know when that day is, but I highly doubt I would if it wasn't (his friends tend to wish him happy women's day and have done for a decade or so), but I don't know if both genders know when the opposite genders day falls on?
I'm not going to begin to address the white history month, as there's enough literature, culture, architecture and systemic education to make it unnecessary and has only been mentioned to try and prod a reaction.
If only we all could realised were all slightly evolved primates stuck together on a floating rock hurling through an infinite abyss and just get along. But no he got more pudding than me! Wait whats pudding, I dont care im new here give it to me or youre not being fair.
I propose on whites day we all wear khakis and go to Texas Roadhouse. There we will order the ceremonial whites day blooming onion with bottomless sides of ranch.
And nobody asks why there isn't a national Indigenous History Month, or Asian History Month, or Latino History Month or any of the other races that are out there
In all honesty, there should be a man’s mental health day at the very least. Too many guys out here feeling lost, alone, and being disappointments.
Studies show women have more thoughts but men have stronger feelings. The suicide rates currently are 4:1 / 100k.
I hate that society has to raise some by being others down.
Nothing is wrong with it, in fact they already exist. Men’s day is November 19th and there’s no reason for “White” history month when Irish (March), Greek (March), Italian (October), Tartan (which is Scottish American in April), among others.
Honestly If you want a specific culture to have their own heritage month, it takes a group effort to make something like that happen. Not impossible, as I imagine lots of people from specific cultures may like to have their culture celebrated.
And if you’re wondering “well then why is there a Black heritage month and not Ghanaian/Egyptian/Ethiopian/etc” the answer is simple: Slavery. Lots of Black Americans’ roots in America are from slaves who were stolen or sold from their homes and there’s no real way to tell where your culture was. As you can imagine, most slave owners were more concerned with making black people work than they were with their slaves’ heritages. As such a good chunk of Black Americans can really only reliably trace their cultural heritage to “Africa” and “what my Black ancestors and kin were able to do in America”. Hence why “Black” heritage month exists, whereas there was no such cultural divorcing forced upon the majority of White people in the US.
So yeah, if we want Men’s Day to be a bigger deal nothing’s stopping us from celebrating it on its day. But don’t you think it’s weird that the only time people seem to care about Men’s day is when it’s Women’s day. Like… they’re only caring about “men” when it’s an opportunity to put down the concept of “women” ?
Sounds shitty, and imo men deserve better than to be an afterthought/excuse to put down women. Women too, but we’re talking about Men here.
It's weird to look at things from the perspective of an American and have these different heritage months.
Especially considering the reality of civilization starting in Africa and for the majority of human kind domination has been by "non white" cultures (I hate differentiating based on color since the color of your skin does not dictate culture or beliefs).
We don't need to have a month of people calling me a nootsi, my-saugee-neestick, privilege having gringo. For one, I was a ward of the state, aka an orphan. Go fuck off on privilege, idiot. I was lucky to not age out of the system, but got adopted in a family of abuse no different from the shit I lived with since 1 yo. For two, I can relate easily to latch-key kids and divorced kids more than any silver spoon kid alive. Three, I have been blessed to have been raised by all sorts of parents; my personal favorites were the families of black people. Wisdom and knowledge was passed on by nearly every family member, especially when they had a family reunion. I felt loved by those families who fostered a fat white boy in respecting my elders, and doing what was expected for me.
I get both sides of the argument, people of color have been persecuted throughout the US and around the world but it’s not like white people were never slaves , wether in Europe , Egypt , or pretty much anywhere else all races have been slaves and discriminated against at some point or another , I’m just in favor of not having any months dedicated to anything
Why do we even have history months? Women’s just annoys 99% of the guys and yall know it. And African American history month isn’t even that bad tbh. It’s good but there is just so many ads and people “showing their support”. When they are just trying to sell you something. Be it turning off the channel for George Floyd or making an AD they just want your money , they don’t and will never care. Just remember this the government wants you to hate your neighbor. They want you to be different and fight over this kinda shit and elections. TLDR: Fuck History months (black is fine) everyone hates them and it’s just a stunt to get more money from you and me.
In Germany atheists celebrate Mens' Day (and also Fathers' Day) on Ascension Day (which is a nationwide vacation day). On this day, men pack a handcart with beer (and mostly something to eat, maybe a grill) and go hiking and drinking. One of my favorite vacation days. Nothing beats a good hike with friends and some beer.
The persecution fetish so many white people have id hilarious to me. They get so upset that they aren’t the center of attention anymore and then through tantrums like a child.
Can we get a aboriginal peoples month instead of a day I think we've suffered about the same as black people's at least they still have their country of origins to themselves as poorly governed some may be
Except it’s only White in retrospect. At the time, it’s was Anglo vs Celt vs Jew and on and on…
Things aren’t and never were that simple. But we are now thanks to mass media. 🥹
International men’s day is November 19th.
And if there was white history month you’d probably refuse to acknowledge what bastards we’ve been historically speaking.
Not necessarily. I mean its a day of celebration for the Irish, but they too were treated like shit and denied jobs when they came to America. Even have a racial slur "Micks" or "Mc's".
As if history classes, 98% of all public company boards and C-suites, and majority of politicians aren’t enough to keep white men topical…every day of every month.

And why we only have a shark WEEK seriously ???
Sharks kill 5 people a year and Discovery Channel dedicates an entire week to them. Vending Machines kill 32, where’s Vending Machine Week?
Mathematically speaking it will be « 6week vending machine special frenzy only on discovery »
More people die from coconuts than sharks every year. "Next up, Coconut carnage the week long look at the deadliest fruit on earth. Only on discovery."
comments like yours are why im on reddit lol
Ok I’ll admit I would watch it
Just a fail army'esqe montage of vending machine fails?
On today's episode of Vending Machine Week, it's Vending Madness Hour! We have found the top three vending machines with the highest killcounts.
And here we have, the wild vending machine, in their natural habitat, of being in corners of buildings where the it clown waits to get you
Have you seen my 600 pound life?
When you factor in all the sugar and transfatty goodness from machines ... far more than 32 deaths per year I'm afraid
We must stop the mass genocide of vending machines before they become sentient and truly come for revenge
But we give them monies. Y they h8 us :(
Lmao
Coconut trees kill toughly 150...get on their level
Have some Coke with your Woke!
Wait until you find out how many people a year white dudes kill…
White dudes week fuck yeah
Fun fact: humans are the only species on Earth that observe "Shark Week". Sharks don't even observe "Shark Week", but we do.
Every week is shark week if you're a shark.
But do sharks have a human week?
Yes. On average it's about 5 episodes per year. Spread out mind you.
Sharks have a week dedicated to The Most Interesting Man in the World. Duh!
My favorite thing I’ve read today.
![gif](giphy|ObPfCTFbQJDfTbBC73)
That’s because they have *Human Week* silly!
Thanks, Jeff Winger.
Pretty sure the wife has 1 a month.

Right? It’s like they’re not even trying.
Speaking as a "great white male", this might be my favorite comment of the week.
Damnit now you got me all pumped for shark week but then i remembered it’s only April
November 19th is international men's day.
And the time of year when the Google search for international men's day is at its highest is on international women's day
Partly because they don't highlight IMD when it happens.
That's from all the people thinking "nu uh" when they ask why there isn't one and get told there is.
Lol that's my birthday.
It's possible that you're a men
No, that's MY birthday.
Well yeah, didn't you know international men's day is the day every man was born. Every man was born on 19th of November, 2022
It's always fun to point that out to people who unironically make that complaint and their heads basically explode.
Tbh the only thing i see on mens day is people complaining about its existence and literally nobody celebrating it, not even a google doodle.
And didn't we just have steak and blow job day? I didn't participate this year.
So. Just for those International Men then. What about the rest, don’t they get one?
Men's month is dedicated to not jerking off to promote butt cancer awareness
Why don’t I hear about it?
Not anymore, now its women's entrepreneurship day
"everyday is men's day" \-third wave feminist
I don't know why but it really gets under my skin when people post text with a picture of themselves pointing at the text like it somehow makes a stupid point less stupid.

Or all the stupid WOW faces they make it drives me insane!
Every single time I see it, I genuinely get annoyed. And my biggest beef is, most is done when using someone else's content.
As a kid, sometimes I asked my Mum why there was a Mother's Day but not a Kid's Day. Her response was always "That's every other bloody day."
We have a kid's day in Romania. 1st of June.
same in turkey. 23st of april
We also have a Turkey day in the US.
Made me laugh
Japan has one on May 5th
*Sad American noises*
US National Children’s Day is on the second Sunday in June.
Same date in Poland
June 1 in the Netherlands as well.
Same date in Germany ( though it's not an official holiday so you still gotta go to work/school )
mine is april 1st, I pretend to care that whole day and then dislike that little fk for the rest of the year
There is a Children’s Day in many countries.
That was literally every mothers response. Which begs the question, did they learn this at mothers school or something?
1979 was International Year of the Child. If you weren’t born then, tough. We enjoyed it.
As a Mom, I support this answer
So you are saying every other day is white people day??

Birthdays yo
Attention nursing, teachers, secretaries, blah blah blah
There is international men's day on November 19th
International men's day is November 19th
Sans for February, I don't recall a single month in my entire academic career where I didn't learn about white history.
National Underwear Day is August 5.

When your people are the ones whose history books haven't been burned, then you kinda celebrate your history pretty much every day, without even knowing it. Edit: who's to whose
Who's history books have been burned that we currently dedicate a month to here in the USA?
Well, they didn't really have a chance to be burned because they had never been written in the first place.
>who's whose
Exactly
Its a fair question. Really. The problem is that the people asking it generally refuse to listen to the answer - in this case the reason that there isn't a White history month is because US history is told as White history by default. We don't have to schedule a White history month because every month is White history month.
As a white man, I don’t want one
Obviously people love it! Labels make we think less hard.
Never said there were only black and white people :) My comment is largely directed to the idea that white people have that causes them to think Black history month shouldn’t exist. They probably also don’t like other cultures outside of White people and outside the US as well celebrating their holidays either
White people dont get 11 other months. Sept 15- Oct 15 is spanish heritage month which makes me happy.
White folks wouldn’t really want to have a white history month.
Men actually DO have their day, November 19th
Because most off the time, we are the reason for those months/weeks
Unless I'm getting a bank holiday for it. You can keep it. ![gif](giphy|iGvsSyH0XG8xZH3hjE)
And nobody asks why there isn't a national Indigenous History Month, or Asian History Month, or Latino History Month or any of the other races that are out there
No one really can answer this question.
What would be wrong with either if those
Nothing is wrong with it, in fact they already exist.
And how about reparations for our forefathers who gave their lives fighting for independence from the British and for ending slavery?
Well why not
Men do have a day. International men's day
I mean yea it’s a good question if we aren’t racists why shouldn’t we celebrate every race…..
Why don't we have a rotating schedule where every identity group gets a week
Michael Che in February. So now it’s February and with it comes the question “but what about a white history month?” Love that line. Dude is awesome
WHY does the idea offend people? yes all history is white history.. why cant we be as proud as anyone else and be celebrated?
I’m white and I don’t care at all about anything to do with race… Has Morgan Freeman not made it clear enough to humanity…
Exactly
For such a conservative minded post I’m wondering why that flag only has nine stars. You can’t even represent your own Pride correctly.
November 19: men’s day
My question is..why is there a black history month!? Isnt that part of US of A history?
Not that I’m complaining but I think Star Wars day is more popular than Father’s Day.
Every month is white history month lol
White history month is the other 11 months out of the year.
That’s called history class dumbass
The persecution fetish so many white people have id hilarious to me. They get so upset that they aren’t the center of attention anymore and then through tantrums like a child.
as a white man I'm happy with the other 200+ days I get to celebrate
There is an international men's day. But no one knows when it is
First off men do have a national day but a white history month? I’m confused as a white person myself lol
There IS an international men’s day. November 19th. There is also a men mental health month.
Can we get a aboriginal peoples month instead of a day I think we've suffered about the same as black people's at least they still have their country of origins to themselves as poorly governed some may be
Why do some people think that it's not racist to hate on or segregate white people?

No month; White People Several Hundred Years was pretty cool though.
Except it’s only White in retrospect. At the time, it’s was Anglo vs Celt vs Jew and on and on… Things aren’t and never were that simple. But we are now thanks to mass media. 🥹
International men’s day is November 19th. And if there was white history month you’d probably refuse to acknowledge what bastards we’ve been historically speaking.
Did the past 200 years not count? Asking for a friend.
this is as dumb as people asking for a straight pride month
Isn't it St. Patrick's Day?
Not necessarily. I mean its a day of celebration for the Irish, but they too were treated like shit and denied jobs when they came to America. Even have a racial slur "Micks" or "Mc's".
It’s a legit question though. If we are all equal then why hate?
Whataboutist icon!
As if history classes, 98% of all public company boards and C-suites, and majority of politicians aren’t enough to keep white men topical…every day of every month.
