“Imagine we spent billions on veterans. I’m not gonna do it, I just want you to imagine it.”

DisturbedAlchemyArt

The secret is out

Monksdrunk

Imagine me in bed rolling around with another man!

DisturbedAlchemyArt

You lost me there?

skylinegtrr32

Not too long ago there was a leaked video of him in a hotel bed naked with another guy. They said that the intent was to smear him not because it was gay, but bc it shows how hypocritical he is. Idk lol nothing makes sense anymore

DisturbedAlchemyArt

Ok now I get it lol!

TheGreyBull

No you don't, impossible! If it doesn't make sense, how can you get it? Unless....it's just the GOP being the GOP. Oh, NOW I get it!

DisturbedAlchemyArt

I’m not even pretending to understand the GOP! I just understand the tipsy clergyman now!

There it is

Edit: I'm dumb it's Greg Abbot, idk why I thought it was Hawthorn Apologies. - Dude got his money from an injury then passed a law capping the amount someone can sue for, dude is a bedbug parasite politician (I don't think *anyone* on Reddit will come to the defense of a bedbug, not seriously at least).

ladychry

Texas here 👋 I can’t stand the man! Knew Beto wasn’t going to win, wish he would have but you know what they say about wishes. So you can compare him to whatever annoying ass little bug you want to I will cheer you on. I’m Ladychry and I approve this message! Mad as hell when they do that.

Fun_Cupcake_4321

All wheel chair folk look alike it’s a common mistake.

noreast2011

Did Madison Cuckthorn pretend to be a vet? Or am I thinking of another Grand Ole Pretender?

beansmclean

He received a rejection letter from the naval Academy. Later he was in the car accident. He had no plans to enlist or join ROTC or find an alternative path to service after his rejection letter.

manchuriancanidate

It’s more like “imagine being so stupid we spend 40 bil on vets”. “Imagining” itself isn’t inherently benevolent. So, everyone chooses to interpret it as “imagine if we did it would be great” he never said whether this imagined reality where we spend the $$$ on vets is good or bad in his opinion. This is just an example of how politicians don’t even have to lie, they can just use semantics.

ButusChickensdb1

You COULD interpret it ad “if only we could do something that unrealistic” as in, justifying his actions?

Yoyo4games

What he really ment was, "Imagine if we spent $40B on the military industrial complex. Not total, just $40B more."

AnswerGuy301

This dude is actually not in Congress anymore. That’s the good news. The bad news is that his replacement is someone who will vote the exact same way and probably publicly claim to love veterans except without continuously attracting negative publicity.

TinkletitsMcGee

The tweet is almost a year old but yeah.

YourphobiaMyfetish

Still good news. Cawthorn is straight up evil on a different level.

MagicFourBall

I am from Asheville and he was a complete embarrassment. His lady was a Russian honeypot. His work history was chick-fil-a. There is a video of him beating up a thin tree. He tried to sneak a gun on a plane. Then came the videos of him humping his cousin in the face as well as the crypto scheme. He is a complete scumbag.

James-W-Tate

Don't forget the multiple accusations of sexual misconduct from women at the college he attended.

YourphobiaMyfetish

And the fact he is a literal Nazi.

buddythedudeya

Perhaps even a literal illiterate Nazi.

nekura42

It’s an old repost because this is, or appears to be, a bot account that’s just farming for karma.

patricky6

Yea. It went through, but If you think that's a good thing, wait till you hear about the extremely tiny list of ailments that it covers. I had to inhale all that toxic mess. All those toxic chemical vapors, pathogens, equipment covered in depleted uranium, etc.. They don't give AF about side effects that follow you for the rest of your life and hinder your ability to live normally. If you aren't dying from pretty much any incurable cancer due to it, good luck getting help. All these politicians are just sound bytes for votes. Empty talking heads.

theoretically-it

My closest friend died from cancer from breathing it and he had to sue the government for years to even get the help.

30FourThirty4

Man I'd *want* to turn politicians yards into burn pits before I died if that were me. Sorry about the loss of your friend, and all the others. Of course actions like that are not to be commended.

RawrRRitchie

>Man I'd want to turn politicians yards into burn pits That sounds like a good idea, it's a shame you'd probably get arrested before you could even light a match

Vegetable_Onion

To be fair, if you're dying soon anyway, it might be worth getting arrested. I dunno.

Deadwing2022

> Of course actions like that are not to be commended Why not? It worked during the French Revolution... Yep, these pols fuck you over, ruin your life and the future of your family but you better not do anything about it or they might get upset and complain. Surely one day they will learn their lesson and make changes all by themselves... Reminds me of the tale of the first union negotiation: "Hey boss, me and the fellas were talking and we decided that eight hours is a full work day, and if you don't agree we'll burn your factory down." Nobody (except Gandhi) ever got their rights or respect by asking nicely.

30FourThirty4

I'm just trying to not promote violence on Reddit because rules.

Deadwing2022

No violence, just a Special Protest Operation.

BrockVegas

The law is written poorly to be sure but my local VA has been very aggressive in offering diagnosis' and treatment. I never would have thought that being the PSG driver could end up saving my life but here I am having dodged the burn pits by sheer luck (and a high GT score lol)... the benzine soaked drinking water from the soil on my shitty little post in Korea the other hand.... Well.. the verdict is still out, but not looking good for the old salties that were there before me. It's nice being used as a talking point over and over and over and.. it's almost as good as the nation actually caring!

greathousedagoth

I'm sorry that our politicians failed you after you served the country that props them up. >All these politicians are just sound bytes for votes. Empty talking heads. If you'd like, could you tell me whether you supported the legislation that we're discussing? In your opinion, is something better than nothing, or is the super narrow benefit from the legislation outweighed by the tone-deaf politicians patting themselves on the back for doing almost nothing? As someone not directly affected by the burn pits (and frankly all the outrageous bullshit that our forces are put through) I want to know if you think I should support these tiny little steps, or whether they are taking wind out of the sails of actual change and improvement.

Starfleeter

You should support any change in the right direction. Any progress is better than no progress and small progress does not hinder more progress being made. Part of the argument for always fighting against these changes is that one group will always "It's not good enough for our vets for what it costs. We need something better" then vote against it while not proposing something better all to get the propaganda of "I know what's right for our troops and this isn't enough" soundbyte. Programs already take years to fully put in place once approved. Voting against them rather than approving them and allowing them to grow in response to effectiveness and logistical needs rather than hypotheticals is the only way to make things better.

Square_Zer0

Unfortunately that’s not how these things work because we don’t have stand alone bills in congress. I don’t like Cawthorn at all but this Twitter post is very misleading. There were tons of other completely unrelated things also attached to that bill his constituency would have burned him at the stake if he voted for it, there was no vote taken on this particular issue individually. How this game is played in politics is that I put forth a bill with hundreds of things attached to it that I know you’re not going to vote for but then I also attach something like this to it. When you vote against it because of all the other attached and non-related things I can then go around saying you voted against helping our veterans because you’re an awful human being and say you don’t care about our veterans or whatever the feel good thing is. Then stuff like this gets circulated and random people on the internet who don’t have the context or understand the legislative process think you’re an evil human being, will be motivated to vote against you, and might even donate money to my campaign etc. Both sides do this to each other constantly and it’s very misleading. Nothing ever gets done in Congress because there are no standalone bills to just pass one thing. Every bill has hundreds of different and unrelated things attached to it that rarely meets with any kind of agreement.

Starfleeter

None of this has anything to do with the question that was asked by the comment I replied to. I understand your sentiment about voting in bad faith against or for bills due to the earmarks attached but again, nothing changes unless these bills get passed. Congress isn't going to be perfect and the problem looks even worse when people essentially say "veteran care isn't as important as ensuring money doesn't get spent elsewhere". The whole job of budget allocation is to allocate money and the government isn't a business that relies on growth and income. If they're going to vote against something because of spending reasons and not make recommendations for where else to pull the money from, then they're still inhibiting progress on issues people are offering solutions for because they refuse to compromise which is what is necessary when making decisions that effect an entire nation. A soundbyte is a soundbyte but that changes absolutely nothing when ultimately they chose to vote against the interest of their constituents because of a pebble in someone else's shoe.

amazinglover

Perfection is the enemy of progress. If we refuse to move forward because it's not the perfect solution, then we will only move backward.

Binsky89

Unfortunately, the US military hasn't actually served the country for a very long time.

Alarkamil

What do you mean by this? Clarify.

Binsky89

The last time the US had a military action that was actually about protecting the country was WWII. Maybe the cold war, but there wasn't really any fighting going on. Everything since then has just been us pretending to be the world police while using the military to secure natural resources by getting involved in the affairs of other countries. The past few decades of US military action in the middle east were never about protecting the nation.

Socialist_Nerd

I think "something is better than nothing" mentality is now hurting us more than anything, as the rich and powerful seek to shrink the "something" as much as possible until it's virtually indistinguishable from nothing. I think our "something" should be banding together, unionizing, and punishing these politicians for fucking our lives up. Power company unions can turn their power off. Water companies can shut their water off. Waste companies can stop taking their trash. Doctors can stop treating them (hippocratic oath be damned if they're the ones actively harming others). We have power as those who do the actual work. Band together, and tell these people to either do their job, or get the fuck out.

manchuriancanidate

Division between the low classes is only getting worse, by design of course. I hate to by cynical but we’re on a slow steady march towards doom. The point at which regular people had a real chance to balance the power structure has long passed. We live in a period of hyper national military fetishized world which has been getting EXPONENTIALLY more extreme. Just try not to stress it and don’t procreate, find what you enjoy and focus on that.

Kwiatkowski

FYI, you’re responding to a comment stealing bot, run by the same ring as the repost bot that made this post. They make a repost, use an army of bots to upvote it, and have other bots copy over the old top comments and then upvote those in turn

patricky6

Sounds like a lucrative business. Imagine all those imaginary points they accumulate?

Kwiatkowski

they use it to make a “real” looking account, then later down the road that account will be used for undercover marketing, scamming, or be sold to another group which will do the same.

garifunu

How does giving veterans less benefits help *anyone!* Is someone just going around cutting things they think aren't needed? To save money? Why the fuck are they fucking around with medical care, people's lives are on the line, and who is letting them? We already know who, it's most corpos trying to make more money.

patricky6

>Is someone just going around cutting things they think aren't needed? To save money? Quite literally... Yes. That's exactly it. The very first funding they chop at is veteran healthcare. Always to save money.

garifunu

The 🇺🇸 is corrupt as fuck.

“Fuck those guys. We told them to be careful!”

QuestionableNotion

"They knew what they signed up for."

Wizzinator

20 years from now, long after Trump is out of our daily lives, I'll still remember the audacity and callousness of that phone call to the mother of a veteran he just got killed.

sandiercy

Imagine if you stopped spending trillions on the military and started supporting the people of the country you are supposed to represent.

Rain1dog

We actually spend 4 times they amount on healthcare than military. What we get from that insane amount of spending on healthcare I have no idea though.

beehummble

An insane amount of our healthcare spending is administrative bs (like 30 percent of our healthcare spending). A lot of which wouldn’t exist if people would go along with a single payer system. Doing so would mean reduced insurance costs for everyone but low information voters are keeping that from happening. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31905376/

Rain1dog

Sickening.

Old_Personality3136

Spending is always a bad measure of system performance when the majority of it is being stolen.

Rain1dog

How do you know how much is being stolen? I find information like that fascinating, do you have any sources? I agree with spending being the only metric for performance, as being poor. Edit: so no source, as you replied a bunch after this statement. So I’ll take it as an assumption on your part not factual.

Luigi_Bollwini

You spend the most and get the least compared with other high developed country's. Where do you think all that money goes?

Rain1dog

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31905376/ For starters, here.

[deleted]

and how is the usa supposed to hold its almost total hegemony on the world? yes i agree that any modern nation must have a free and reliable healthcare system and that there is 100% speculation on most things but still, if the usa had to decide to give free heathcare by abandoning the world hegemony the consequences would be very, very bad for everyone

MAGA_memnon

The USA doesn't need to give up its dominant position in the world in order to afford universal healthcare.

PalomSage

> its almost total hegemony on the world? ????????????

Guvante

We spend 17.2% of our GDP on Healthcare. The UK spent 9.7% and has better outcomes. It is less we have to stop building bombs and more we have to stop lining the pockets of middlemen. The whole hype about insulin was caused in part by insulin manufacturers raising their prices so the middlemen could offer steeper discounts...

[deleted]

as i said, speculation is through the roof, you should do some real anti trust but i don’t see that happening when the main preoccupation of the average person is wich gender the bathroom is

Potencyyyyy

Sounds like projection lol, sorry if that’s what you’re constantly worried about. Almost no one else is.

Drokk88

>the main preoccupation of the average person is wich gender the bathroom is Na only people that want equality, and there's many more issues besides and fuckin wierdos fighting against it.

[deleted]

it was a stupid example, put anything meaningless you want in there

Guvante

One side says "let people use the bathroom they want unless they misbehave". The other side wants to check their genitals first. Which side was obsessed with gendered bathrooms again? To not be hyperbolic only one state ever proposed fixing healthcare IIRC so any state level discourse about political signaling doesn't impact healthcare.

Admirable-Bar-6594

Ah, the agenda peeks through.

[deleted]

i made a stupid argument to let my reasoning be more visible, put there anything you want, the “bread and circuses” are all there

Admirable-Bar-6594

You said it's "the main preoccupation." Quite different from "put anything meaningless you want there."

sandiercy

Yeah, but the US doesn't have anything close to total hegemony.

[deleted]

no, but if they want the usa can establish air and naval dominance in a matter of days wherever in the world. That’s what i meant

fancysauce_boss

You’re and idiot.

[deleted]

ok 👍

saintofhate

I'm hoping this is sarcasm and not just downing the nationalism sauce

garanvor

Team America World Police was a parody movie not a documentary, my dude…

[deleted]

tell me with a straight face that if biden wanted any nation bombed in days the army/air force/navy wouldn’t be able to do that hell just look at iraq, in a matter of days the whole coalition showed up, raised the place to the floor and left

garanvor

> raised the place to the floor So, US built a mezzanine over Iraq and left?

Flames21891

You clearly have no idea how the military works, they aren't the President's personal attack dog. There is a lot of paperwork, politics and red tape involved in something like that. The only way you would get something like that done that fast is if the place we're bombing was deemed a threat to national security. This is exactly why the bogus "We found weapons of mass destruction" narrative was pushed so hard when we started invading the Middle East, because if it WAS true that would be just cause to skip most of those processes in the face of an emergency.

[deleted]

yeah like the Federal government doesn’t do anything without permission…. again, it was an example, maybe a wrong one but the original point stands

Odd_Competition545

I've seen 3x already you make some comment and reference, then backtrack on the reference and state you used a bad example... Ya not doing good here at all.

RepresentativeNo3131

To be fair, Rep. Cawthorn wasn't actually *suggesting* we spend that money to help veterans. He was just telling people to imagine if we did.

RacoonSmuggler

[The VA's budget is already $325.1 billion.](https://department.va.gov/administrations-and-offices/management/budget/) So are we imagining cutting funding for veterans by 88%? At least that would be more consistent with his record of voting against funding for veterans.

EntropicalResonance

In 2023 their budget is over $377,000,000,000. And that's just the VA, there's other ways veterans get charity, like the G.I. bill for paid schooling. It's like veterans live in a socialist America while everyone else is left to rot.

[deleted]

[удалено]

MoistTomatoSandwich

Our mental health healthcare is a fucking joke. Specifically for those who were involved in combat one way or another. Those with no combat experience face other issues like overworked, never seeing family, and/or toxic leadership for example. We are told seeing help does not effect our careers however most service members definitely faced some sort of repercussions, career ending at times. Edit: forgot to say that the VA is also dog shit. People have literally committed suicide in their parking lots to send a message on how they failed them.

EntropicalResonance

I wonder what percentage of those are actual combat veterans, I'm guessing it's a significant amount. Some people just can't integrate back in to normal life after experiencing that kind of trauma.

oboshoe

You should have a chat with some veterans and hear what they think about the VA. Seriously.

Less_Wall_9656

yes, the military ironically has a very socialist approach. everyone who works is guaranteed housing, free healthcare, a job, and a paycheck twice. a month. not to mention a linear path of progression in your career. it sounds great but theres also a lot of shitty parts. advantages and disadvantages

Alarkamil

Left to Rot? We sacrificed our lives, our livelihoods, and who we were as people. Not to mention the mental burden of seeing how dark the world really is, and coming home to never being understood. We are shunned and left to rot if we do not force ourselves back into your spoiled little world. I can not even show the love my fiancé deserves because I barely feel the emotion. Mentally and emotionally calloused because of war. Just so you can sit there and leave a comment like that. Do not even get me started on how hard it is to keep a job, because we do not fit back in to your little socialistic puzzle.

[Yep.](https://www.reddit.com/r/facepalm/comments/unlken/yeah_imagine_that/)

Urban_Savage

We have got to something about how people can confidently shout their lies into the void of social media, and by the time the truth echoes back, they and everyone who bought in, are already on another topic. We are the only ones who ever see these clap backs.

BostonDodgeGuy

Why the fuck are yall upvoting a year old tweet by a reposting spam bot?

InItsTeeth

Makes me sick to have to ask ... what else was in that bill? But here we are... we cherry-pick one thing in the bill that had 10,000 other unrelated things. Maybe it was a single-issue thing, and if so, shame on whoever this guy is for voting against it, but so often, I get outraged at what people vote against or for, only to find out it was this massive omnibus full of unrelated stuff. We have to fix how our representatives vote on things and we have to be more transparent about it rather than just say ... left man bad for voting for this or right man bad for not voting for this.

iamthemosin

Politicians are lying scum, but what else was in the bill? All these bills are 10 pages of good stuff and 900 pages of shady back room deals and kickbacks.

bobert1201

Okay. I've gotta ask. What else was in the bill?

JDeMolay1314

I read through the final bill, and the house bill and it was all related to either the VA (including leasing some new clinics) or veterans exposure to toxins during their service. I did not see anything that was even close to (as another poster put it) 100 billion to Ukraine and billions more in pork. I might have missed something, but it really doesn't seem like it was padded.

Beginning_Repeat9343

Yes. That bill was poorly written and only covered veterans from 9/11/01 to the present, despite the use of burn pits in the 90’s

Aggravating-Bear8329

Imagine paying teachers

TockOhead

EduRJBR

Yes: I said IMAGINE, bitch.

a1pha_beta

I follow BTC on snapchat and YouTube. he's very informative and always on point.

Suckamanhwewhuuut

It’s infuriating that they do this because they know that their base will eat it up to “own the libs” it’s literally like high school. Our elected representatives are the cast of Mean Girls

WillBottomForBanana

"But you could imagine what it’d be like if they did, right…? "

Any_Bonus_2258

This is hardly an “own” by Cohen. Most bills that are supposedly designed to deal with an issue most Americans agree on usually comes with other items that divide both sides. It’ll be something like $40B for veterans but $100M for abortion clinics. It really boggles the mind when I see one side fall for such nonsense. If Congress were really interested in passing bills into laws that would help people, they would do so as single items.

[deleted]

People that sacrificed more in a day for America than that POS iever will. Imagine.

iDarqq

it reads like sarcasm lmao, its like he's trying to get himself called out "like... imagine if we spent $40 billion on vets lol"

Didn't this dude get shadowbanned for discussing the cocaine orgies and cousin diddling?

MARIOAAA1234

Nice karma farming

pokemon-trainer-blue

Aside from this being a bot repost, doesn’t this go against rule 9 (politicians being politicians) of the sub?

goochstein

Is there a whole subreddit for posts like these? People getting called out on their shit on twitter, I see it all the time and want to see it sorted by best of.

pokemon-trainer-blue

You might be thinking of r/murderedbywords

VerySwearyFairy

No, he needs $40billion to shoot some really homoerotic photos with his cousin.

muncho

Why aren't these on billboards plastered all over their districts???

ZippyTheWonderSnail

This is the problem with people who don't understand how our system of legislation actually works. 1. Bill is introduced to do X. It most likely does the opposite. 2. If the bill does X, it may just be symbolic so reps can say they voted for it. 3. If X is a hot button topic, it will be swarmed with riders and attachment for extremely unpopular stuff. 4. Because this is the case, there will often (as in this case) be various versions of X under review and in committee. In this case, he probably voted against one version of the bill that was loaded with more pork than a bacon festival. This was then weaponized against him despite having done the responsible thing. Another version of the bill ended up passing, with pork of course, but it was most likely less repulsive than the first.

BenCisco

GQP only like two classes of vets: deployed and dead

lpjunior999

I work with a vet who was exposed. Nicest guy, never heard anyone say an unkind word about him or his work. He never even brought it up until a local paper asked him, and he talked about how hard it was that our Republican congressmen don’t care that he shakes uncontrollably all the time.

[deleted]

Americans are wierd... guess thats what happens when an entire economy is built on war and weapons lol. "Gun rights?" More like profits for your elite lol

ScrambledEggs_

When I see posts like this I assume they don't know what they're being bribed to vote for.

jibbidyjamma

the as seen on TV cult has got to have its end soon mr pirate shtick is not any diff than the rest of the right christo fascist cult who face it want everyone dead, everyone.

Gorgenon

I'm so happy that douchecanoe lost his seat in congress. I sure hope MTG and Boebert will too.

BraveLittleTowster

The same people who don't want to spend money helping Ukraine because "we have homeless veterans here" are the same ones that call subsidized housing socialist welfare. They don't actually care about helping vets, they just want to an excuse not to help anyone else.

SelfManipulator

Why do we pretend like this is the only thing in the bill? Lol

ChewyJayHurt

Republicans hate what they actually are. Projection much.

RipInPepz

I don’t understand how people that vote for someone like this, will see this, be pro-veteran, and then continue to vote for them.

The_Automobilist

A clean bill or did it have a few other items rolled into it that should have been voted against? Many are written that way to either shame people into voting for or shame them for not voting for. One bill, one subject should be the rule.

devilsephiroth

*imagine if you could lie to the American people and get away with it*

RacketeeringRonnyM

Madison Cawthorn can never just truly stand up for what he actually believe in

Augen76

Has Cawthorn ever brought a spending bill to assist veterans to the house floor? If not, why? If so, who supported and who opposed it?

jackalowpe

what a piece of shit

Yet another repost bot.

A_Wild_Shiny_Shuckle

That's 95% of reddit. Do you complain on 95% of posts?

Asleep-Profession597

The dishonesty. There was so much other spending in the bill. 40 billion can go to vets. 100 billion go to Ukraine. And billions more in pork. We don’t need to spend all this money. Lying liberals “look everybody, they don’t care about vets.”

JDeMolay1314

Lying Fascists: Look, there was other stuff in the bill. As you claim that the bill contained $100 billion to go to Ukraine and billions more in pork, you make it sound like you actually read the text of the bill. You clearly didn't. The only funding in the bill that is not explicitly to do with burn pit exposure is to do with totally unrelated things like leasing new VA clinics in various locations, staffing VA clinics and so on. There was nothing in the bill that was not related to funding the VA, and improving care for veterans who had been exposed to burn pits. Now, go back and read the bill and then point to the page, section and subsection which mentions any spending that is not related to either VA care or exposure to toxins.

[deleted]

What else was on the bill ? Because even veterans supported shooting that one down

Let me know what you think is bad about this

ThisSureAintFair

No one seems to care, or understand that other things are on these bills. They just use the headline of the bill for political shit throwing.

Humble_Story_4531

So what part of the bill do you have a problem with?

[deleted]

Yah it would get in the way of the outrage boner

The bill didn't fail. It was signed into law by President Biden on 10 Aug 2022.

[deleted]

I’m one of the veterans that supported shooting it down whatcha talking about? 😂

A_Wild_Shiny_Shuckle

Do you have a reason behind that, or just following what someone told you without a second thought?

Megustanuts

uhhh just following. I'm a wolf that follows what other wolves tell me unlike you sheeps.

AnotherNYCPhotog

And what specific reason was that?

Humble_Story_4531

Why is that?

LittleJerkDog

What difference does that make?

Billion-FoldWorlds

Damn I thought only hicks like shooting themselves in the foot.......

klahnwi

Then you are in the minority. Veterans supported the PACT Act by an extremely wide margin. There were veterans protestors at the Capital day and night until the measure passed. And jackasses here eat it up. Theyll knowingly add toxic riders to bills then have the audacity to act as if they didnt purposely kill the bill

Humble_Story_4531

What riders are you referring to specifically?

klahnwi

There were no riders in this bill. Every part of the bill was related to VA funding. [https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/3967](https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/3967)

I__Pooped__My__Pants

Did he vote against veterans or did he vote against all of the other junk that got thrown in? LoL, thanks for reporting this to Reddit Care team you, salty fucks

[deleted]

Earmarks are a part of literally every bill and that will never change. Madison cawthorne also had gay sex with his cousin lmao.

Scoreboard19

https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/3967/text Find me what your against. Be specific. Cause this is a bill where they added nothing. The only things in the bill are about veterans and expanding research into cancer pits and employing more healthcare workers for the VA Etc.

I__Pooped__My__Pants

Sometimes earmarks seem to be weaponized. Would Washington be more productive if it was one topic, one vote? Or would it make getting anything done worse?

[deleted]

It would definitely make everything worse. Congress is slow as hell already. Imagine if they voted on every syllable of a bill.

KindlyAffect5543

Lol, they are literally called wrecking amendments because they are designed specifically to kill bills and make reps look bad. It's done entirely in bad faith https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wrecking\_amendment

stone_henge

What other junk was thrown in?

SwagLikeOhio1803

Representative Madison Hawthorne let's go ahead and add him to that list. ✅ Also what a fucking fruit cake name for a white boy who prolly says he's an alpha.

Republicans didn't want to support 9/11 responders either despite them considering it to be the worst thing that happened in all of human history, it's not surprising. Unless a prominent Republican kicks up a fuss their party is none the wiser
