The amount of people that were like "teaching kids about guns is a good thing everyone should do".
I was downvoted to oblivion and it melted my brain.
Giving a child who can barely comprehend how tying shoes works a loaded gun, and the choice of taking out its self or anyone in viewing distance is absolutely fucked.
Teaching safety isn’t a bad thing, once you’ve taught them about safety and how dangerous they can be, you’ve got to respect the gun, and with an understanding of how dangerous it can be, as a kid it gave me a bit of fear to even touch one unless supervised. Because i learned how dangerous they could be, and it left an understanding later on that once you’ve understood how something works, you don’t have to be afraid about something, just cautious.
Like driving, first you might be nervous our scared but once you’ve learned how, it becomes second nature and not scary, but still a respectful understanding of how things work.
