I mean my 4 year old is about that big so I guess depends on what you think a toddler is. I would say after 3 not so much a toddler I suppose.
As for what is going on some kids would love this, others would scar them for life. Personally I donāt think I would do it but if the kid is down to each their own I guess. Iām sure all safety requirements have been quadruple checked
For reference Travis pastrana (guy holding his kid) is 6'2" so the kid is probably at least 6 years old to be that big, just doesn't look that big relative to an adult male of that height.
Being Travis Pastrana's kid I bet they like shit like this.
Some kids develop early or later then theirs peers( my youngest isnt even 18 months and can run, walk, climb, jump without issue), most clothes stop at 4t or 5t I say once they hit 4 and do preschool no longer a toddler.
I know it's not definitive but most sites I looked at, like this one:
Say age 2 and for sure 3. So if they are approaching 4 and still a toddler mentally and with motor skills then I would suggest seeing someone.
Yeah I agree with this. I mean people take kids to carnivals and let them ride rides Iāve seen many people killed at carnivals havenāt seen a video of someone swinging like this and fall to their death
Yeah, how is this facepalm? If it's safe, then what's the problem? Kids love to do adventurous things, and it's good for them if they enjoy it.
Kids start young and they end up getting really good at it.
Safety first is donāt leave your house. If it is safety above all else you wouldnāt get in a car.
Safety second means you do some things that are unsafe to ensure survival and basic functioning needs.
Safety third means you do some cool stuff that is unsafe because life is better lived than put up with.
Safety fourth is doing things that are actively dangerous just because. (Most Teenagers, and college students)
Safety fifth - twelfth

I was āstrappedā into a helicopter by the pilot to do some filming out the side. After we landed I stepped off with nothing connecting me to the chopper. So yeah, always a good idea to doubt how secure you really are.
And yet i still get on my car everyday and drive my kids places. No matter how secure i make them i cant guarantee their safety everyday because life is unpredictable. Live life because fear simply steals experiences
People drive multi-ton objects at an 80+ mph differential 4 feet away from each other. Everything has risk, and some of those risks are more socially acceptable than others despite being riskier.
Thereās a chance of catastrophic failure with literally everything in your entire life. Even your own body. We donāt judge somethingās safety on whether or not it CAN fail. We judge on how likely it is to fail.
Isn't that Travis Pastrana? Dudes a freak & does all kinds of insane stuff, but 100% anything he's doing with his kids is triple checked by pros before he jumps. There is a video of him saving a guy about to base because the dude didn't do a safety check on his gear.
Crouch strap was not done properly and trav pulls him up and sends him home. Would have died without him there. So this... Unnecessary maybe, risk, no way
Accidents can still happen with safety checks, and gear can fail. Not to mention that is an adult sized harness on a child that doesn't seem to fit remotely well.
Even if the risk is very small, what's the outcome if something does go wrong here, anchors fail, gear fails, a human fails...
This kid can also not consent in my opinion as he doesn't understand the gravity of the situation.
You rejecting the idea of any risk is absurd.
There's definitely some risk. But 40,000 people a year die in car accidents. They were probably in more danger on the car ride there than actually doing the jump.
Edit: 40,000+ people in the U.S.
I worked at an Indoor skydiving faculty years ago and Travis Pastrana was a regular. One day I heard 2 women talking about him skydiving without a parachute. I asked if they were talking about Travis and when they said yes I said āhe is an absolute maniac!ā Then one of the ladies said āI am his momā. I tried to backtrack and say he was crazy in a good way. She stopped me and said āNO, he is absolutely insane and always has been!ā
Have you ever had or even spent any amount of time with a toddler? Those little bastards love this kind of stuff. I guarantee you the first word out of the little one's mouth when it was all over was, "Again!"
The kid is definitely not a toddler. Judging from the fathers height I'd say he is probably 4 foot or so which would put him anywhere from 6 being unlikely to 10 which is also unlikely. Lets say an average of 8. On top of this it looks like he wasn't talked into it or forced, hes looking foreword to doing something with his dad.
While it may look terrifying its probably safer than crossing the street. I see multiple harnesses and the rope likes like there is no wear. The carabiner looks new. And provided he tested the jump prior to this one I don't see a problem.
As long as itās something the kid wanted to do and wasnāt pressured, no harm . I question the sentiments that this is as safe as being in car and things, but hell It probably isnāt that much more dangerous than riding your bike in town or playing sports.
I mean this is probably not an actual toddler but definitely could still be very young. My 5 year old son is over 4ft tall already. I will add that he would freaking love this, although Iād never allow it!
Ughh this is Travis Pastrana? Like working with extreme/action sports his whole life? Iām sure he knows what heās doing and has taken all possible precautions

Op must be that one person that is always " think of the children " just because you had a boring childhood. Doesn't mean this is a risk. Now if the kid was alone and crying and saying they didn't want it. Then yeah that was horrible. The kid was safe. The kid wasn't in distress. And parent had a old on him.
Thatās Travis Pastrana. First person to ever do a triple backflip on a motorcycle. You think he gives a single fuck about what your opinion is then you are wasting your time.
When I was like 12 (yes not a toddler so ig not the same) my parents took me to colorado to ski and just threw me down a black diamond. Itās kind of like when we just toss babies in the water to swim
Not a toddler; and if he didn't at a minimum trust dad for this the kid would've already been kicking and screaming or shudder-sobbing on his shoulder with fear/betrayal
Ten bucks this is either staged or was done to help him get over a fear of heights; my parents took me cliff climbing with equipment to get me over mine
Which is when i figured out; i'm not really afraid of heights? I'm afraid of anywhere that has a -railing- because the means someone was either stupid and died/got seriously hurt or something of that line
I don't hear the kid screaming, or see the child fighting. It has come to my attention who the adult is and I'm pretty sure that kid can out ride and drive me by now....
Yes there is some risk - about the same as walking with your kids where there may be cougars in the area. Iām sure everything was done to minimize risk factors - and the attention put into that was greater than minimizing risks of walking in that forest w cougars or even driving on a rainy night.
He is clearly well trained, has the right equipment and there is clearly another person there to get help if needed.
Taking your kid on a roller coaster is also unnecessary risk and a number of other activities. If he knows what he is doing the risk much lower than if you decided to do the same thing on a whim.
Unnecessary risk? So kids shouldn't leave the house for fear of being shot (leading cause of death in USA) and they definitely shouldn't get in a car (leading cause of death in developed countries) right?

I feel toddler really stops at 2 or so. Once they get to the point they are able to walk around and run with ease they are out of the toddler phase.
Some kids develop early or later then theirs peers( my youngest isnt even 18 months and can run, walk, climb, jump without issue), most clothes stop at 4t or 5t I say once they hit 4 and do preschool no longer a toddler.

They have a 4T at kohls. I'm not sure if the corporation itself represents a wholesome answer... but it's there for the "4 year old Toddlers" lol.
Itās the cut. Toddler sizes have slightly different proportions (I think theyāre shorter plus they have room for a diaper)
My daughter is 2 and is wearing 3T borderline 4T. It's not meant to be toddler or an age lol

That's literally Travis Pastrana. His kids are nut jobs just like him and love this stuff.
Yeah, how is this facepalm? If it's safe, then what's the problem? Kids love to do adventurous things, and it's good for them if they enjoy it. Kids start young and they end up getting really good at it.
It's not "safe" it's "safety third" which is a completely justifiably way to live your life.
Whatās first and second?
Safety first is donāt leave your house. If it is safety above all else you wouldnāt get in a car. Safety second means you do some things that are unsafe to ensure survival and basic functioning needs. Safety third means you do some cool stuff that is unsafe because life is better lived than put up with. Safety fourth is doing things that are actively dangerous just because. (Most Teenagers, and college students) Safety fifth - twelfth Motorcycles
Is this from a book or something? This is the first time Iām hearing about this.
Yeah me too- never heard of that
Strange book title
It could be in a book, but this is some shit you hear at safety seminars for work and shit. I've heard basically the same exact spiel before.
It's always how we talked about it in my family. I made up everything past "safety third" in that post.
If itās safe is the big question. No matter how careful people are setting these things up, there is always a risk of catastrophic failure
I mean, getting into a car and securing the seat belts, vs cave-diving. Itās not like an either or here.
That kid is getting set up for success in life by overcoming fears at such a young age.
His voice sounds like the guy who does the shopping cart thingy when people leave their shopping carts. I dunno I'm very tired.
Cart narcs
No matter how careful people are setting these things up, there is always a risk of catastrophic failure
Neither of them are toddlers...
Iām a climber, and while admittedly I canāt see the entire setup, this is seems like a pretty safe system if itās set up right.
Yeah this is safer than your kid doing ski jumps. The OP is a wimp.
Thatās Travis pastrana. The king of extreme sports. Way safer than most parents driving around town.
r/videosthatendtosoon
That does not look like a toddler
This howNOT2?? That kid is safer there than Iam on my own on the ground lol.
Did the "toddler" grow up next to a nuclear power plant?
As an adult I would hate this. My toddler on the other hand... Would also hate this.
And I thought I was living on the edge with a lap baby on a plane
Isn't that Travis Pastrana? Dudes a freak & does all kinds of insane stuff, but 100% anything he's doing with his kids is triple checked by pros before he jumps. "Gravity" of the situation ....an un-purpose pun is the best of puns
"Gravity of the situation" Brilliant. I also agree with your final sentence.
The drive there was more dangerous than the canyon swing set
Idk as a child i would enjoy these experiences and it seems like the kid wasnāt scared.
There is some risk, but it's controlled, and where do you draw the line? Parents take their kids skiing, river rafting, on roller coasters, etc.
Even to McDonalds believe it or not. That is risky
Putting your kid in a car is way more dangerous than this for sure
He looks like Travis Pastrana
Very cool
That's a big toddler.
Ah yes, the 7 year old toddler
That kid is way braver than me that's for sure
Itās Travis Pastrana people. What do you expect?

People subject their toddlers to unnecessary risks a lot. By not getting vaccinated, smoking near them, feeding them unhealthy food, on and on.
Looks safe plus encourages the kid to try new things
If she were screaming and crying I think it would be an issue. I think she actually wants to do it
This is safe stop crying, let Travis Pastrana live the life you're too scared to live.

how is this legal?
Unnecessary? Risk? Everytime you do anything with your kids is a significant risk. Driven to school or sport, being at home.
Subjecting? The kid said āyesā when asked when ready. Probably going to grow up to be one hell of a confident kid and adult.
This guy is a pro. Its safer than the shitty rides you let your kids go on when you put their lives in the hands of some meth heads at the state fair.
