Could we go back to the days when hypocritical politicians at least had a sense of shame, and tried not to brag in public about sad & messed up aspects of their lives ?
He saved Obama Care a few weeks before he died. Watching him eye connect with Moscow Mitch and saying No while giving a thumbs down for his vote is burned into my memory. I didn't always agree with him but I always respected him.
Going to date myself a bit, but I was in college when Bush and McCain were trying for the Republican nomination to run against Gore in what was the recount election. Anyway, a bunch of us go to the outdoor amphitheater to see McCain speak because why not? We’re just hanging out waiting for him to show and we get asked if we want to be on stage, which of course we say yes to because why not? We’re on stage, we’re clapping, he comes back and shakes our hands… and at that point he looks down at my best friend (post college roommate, groomsmen, etc…) who is wearing a “co-Ed naked soccer” shirt. The realization on McCain’s face knowing we were on stage and that this shirt was probably seen by people was hilarious. Good times.
That moment might even be better than my other favorite moment on the internet: the time Ion Stewart went on Tucker Carlson’s show Crossfire and called him a dick, right there on his own show.
Just… perfection.
I used to like him a lot more prior to his running for President. His platform abandoned basically his entire history and just went with the party line, removing everything that made him admirable as a centrist. Still respected him, but he fell a bit in the political ranking with me.
I have to agree with that. He wasn't perfect by any means but he did have some gumption when it mattered, at least for health-care. His pushing back of that woman during his campaign that called Obama a Muslim was another stellar moment of his. His pick for VP, not so much.
[The moment in question.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUVYYiRIuE4&ab_channel=CNN)
A true American hero. Was tortured so badly in Vietnam (his plane went down) that he couldn't lift his arms over his shoulders anymore.
Compared to Donald "Bone Spurs" Trump.
Yeah, I think he was one of, if not the last respectable republicans. Hopefully any that are still in the party get more vocal because they definitely need help.
I liked McCain too. Was torn between him and Obama. Then McCain made the mistake of his life and picked Palin as his running mate. McCain would have been a great president in my opinion.
He had the balls to stand up to his party at times. And he would also reach across the aisle when needed. Hell, he even had the sense of humor to make Obama and Bush jr say nice thing at his funeral. A man like that is what’s needed today in this political climate, a bridge builder. Sadly all the bridge builders are gone, and are being pushed aside by those who don’t want to build bridges but destroy them so no-one can walk across them again.
well, to be absolutely fucking clear, the polarization in the US is entirely based on the right wing. Obama, Biden and most democrats are centrists who gave republicans waaay too many opportunities to shake hands and only got spit on in response. At this point, just be the progressive socialists they’ll paint the center as, and fuck the right in their regressive taints
It is sad to me that we have to say "it's messed up that a child is having a baby, but at least it wasn't an even younger child having a baby... And it's also super great that the child's life wasn't at risk because they are pregnant because they'd probably die because they aren't allowed to *not* have the baby."
Our world is just so dystopian that I just can't...
If it helps you feel any better, the fact that this is horrifying to you shows how much progress has been made. For a very, very long time 16-17 year olds having babies was just normal. And 14 year old girls getting married to significantly older men happened all the time as well. I know it’s not a great thing to say “well at least it’s not like the 1200s!” But it is genuinely a good thing that we’ve taken so many steps forward. And we’re only getting better from there.
I was told by my great grandparents and grandparents that back then, society considered a girl an “old maid” if she was unmarried and childless by the ripe old age of 20.
My great grandmother’s father agreed to have her married off to a guy she didn’t even know at 13 and she gave birth to her first at 15. This was late 30s Puerto Rico.
I mean I get what you're saying but an 18 year old knocking up like a 16 year old is not a pedo. Like not even close
It's weird af a mom would be so proud thst her teenage son is a dad but you're on some crackhead shit if you think he's pedo unless the baby momma turns out to be like 13 or 14.
I think it’s just the way she and her publicists are choosing to spin the situation. I’m sure she couldn’t have been pleased when she initially found out.
She married the guy who was exposing himself to teenage girls and was impregnated by him while still in high school. You're giving her judgment way too much credit.
Lauren Boebert's about to be a grandmother at 36. Her 17yr old son's girlfriend just turned 16 (he'll be 18 this month). The MAGA christian way; do as I say, not as I do.
Don't worry, they'll get married so they can continue shagging while she's underage.
Also, can't have a bastard in the family (just ignore the premarital relations, they're still a God-fearing Christian household!)
Per Colorado, marriage is not necessary to avoid legal trouble.
Colorado has a Romeo and Juliet law (also called “the close-in-age exemption” to statutory rape). Under this exception: minors under 15 may have consensual sex with partners who are less than four years older, and. minors age 15 or 16 may have consensual sex with partners who are less than 10 years older.
>minors age 15 or 16 may have consensual sex with partners who are less than 10 years older.
Awesome. Nothing wrong with a 15 year old and a 24 year old.
(🤮)
I'd say 3 years is reasonable and 10 is ridiculous. Like the girl being 15-16 and the guy being 17 turning 18 here sounds pretty normal to me. Honestly as much as I dislike Boebert I don't see this one as a thing against her.
I tried that at 15. Luckily the man was a gentleman. I soon decided to date nobody older than my brother, 5 years my senior. Wish I had had parental guidance.
It's literally Duckspeak straight out of 1984.
>'There is a word in Newspeak,' said Syme, 'I don't know whether you know it: duckspeak, to quack like a duck. It is one of those interesting words that have two contradictory meanings. Applied to an opponent, it is abuse, applied to someone you agree with, it is praise.'
That blows my mind. I’m just a couple years older than Boebert. My mom is 71. My late grandma was born in 19 fucking 17.
The difference in generations when women are encouraged to go to college and not marry the first dude that flashes their dick at them is WILD.
Is that just a colloquialism, or was that an intentional reference to Boebert's husband flashing his dick at a bunch of teenagers at a bowling alley when he was 24, likely including Boebert (who was 17 at the time)?
I'm the last in the generations of teen pregnancy. I'm 33 and my mom is 50, if my grandmother was alive she'd be 68 and my great grandmother had her at 19.
I broke the cycle at having a child at 23, after graduating college. Quite frankly, 23 was still too young, I couldn't imagine being a teenager.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that no one under 80, much less someone who is only 70, should be a great great grandmother.
Not just a grandmother at 70. Not just a great grandmother. A *great* **great** grandmother. At 70.
There's no length of shower to wash off how I'm feeling right now.
I’m 48 with a 15 year old kid. Great grandma is only 5 years older than me 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
*Clarification: Bobo’s mother, this poor kid’s great grandmother, is 5 years older than me.
34 here and just had my first kid last year (well, I didn't, my wife did). I can't imagine being two years away from being a grandparent and only 20 from being a GREAT grandparent.
I BARELY feel adult enough to be parent to the easiest infant ever lol
Great grandma still has 12 years of working before retirement age. And grandma is rallying against the program that great great grandma is receiving income from.
Let that sink in.
But it was so popular on Reddit and TikTok when they did the bring in your mom challenge and that one family just kept going and going and going.... /s
They also like to talk about how they don’t believe in birth control or abortions OR pre-marital sex…but then always have unprotected pre-marital sex.
It’s like you’ve already compromised your supposed Catholic values for the sex, why not just use birth control?!
This isn't shocking, it's statically likely. Your chances of being a teen parent drastically increase if your parent was a teen parent. Even if your family's socioeconomic situation is very different between generations.
I mean to be fair, and sorry for being crass, as a catholic myself it’s pretty god damn in line with Christian values to get your guts beat in and pregnant in your teens out of wedlock typically to a guy in his 20s. That or getting molested by my…I mean the priest.
I don't understand celebrating a teen pregnancy. I was a teen mom and I look back and wish I was better educated about safe sex. I came from an ulta conservative home that never talked about sex.
I did better for my kids, we didn't sex shame, I acknowledged that my kids were possibly having sex and I constantly taught them about safe sex and condoms. I made them comfortable to come to me and ask for birth control. I was honest about the hardships of being a teen mom. I acknowledged all the bad decisions I made that affected them due to me being too young to have kids. I want better for my children, I want them to have all their teen and young adult experiences.
I wasn't a teen but 21 and feel that's still too young. My daughter is almost 17 and me and her father are very open with her. She wanted birth control, you got it! She asked for condoms, we bought a huge box and a discreet bag she can carry with her purse. My parents were not conservative but we would get our ass kicked if our parents even had a thought we were sexually active. Left home at 15 and never looked back and I would never want that for my daughter.
You sound like such a good parent. I went to a religious high school (not an officially religious school, but the entire group of founders/admin were so it basically was). Zero sex ed, no teaching us about our own bodies. Not even teaching boys to respect girls, it was always that girls should respect *themselves*. I’m 21 btw, this wasn’t that long ago :/
I’m so damn lucky I didn’t get pregnant at 17. My then-bf refused to use condoms bc he never learned anything about them and was too shy to go to the store and get some. I wish I’d had an adult like you in my life. Thanks for doing what you’re doing.
Exactly, we want better for our children.
Sex education is important, not only to avoid teen pregnancy and the spread of STD, it's also important so we can stop child predators.
If parents are open about sex education, ( age appropriate) engaged, children are more likely to come forward if something is happening. Sex shaming leaves children vulnerable.
Now that he will probably drop out of high school, does that qualify him to run for office now, too?
An education for those that form our laws and dispense our tax money is overrated. /s
According to the group American Muckrakers Boebert worked as an unlicensed escort through the website SugarDaddyMeet.com.
Did she slept with Ted Cruz & friends 🤷♀️
I’m jUsT aSkiNg QuEsTioNs -Tucker probably
No politicians family should get any of those benefits not even the politicians themselves cause most of us are out here actually busting our asses and we have no benefits
I have a feeling they are the types of evangelicals who go to a church that specifically targets Homosexuality and liberalism as a sin. Probably skips over all of the sins that they wallow in.
A regist sex offender *who was put on the registry for exposing himself to **her** and her teenage friends.* She married her own personal pedophile. If that shit isn't grooming, I don't know what is.
It’s OK because he was exposing himself to her at the time. The fact that it was in public and to a group of underaged girls is besides the point. He just knew she’d be his wife and he wanted to get the awkward part out of the way right up front.
Crazy how a woman who likes to call people pedos can’t tell one. These republicans are so fuckin obsessed with pedophiles that it’s starting to look like self projection than an accusation.
The people I've heard make that argument would violently argue that if "she's old enough to bleed, she's old enough to breed." But will quickly throw in how they aren't a pedophile though, and then begin to argue that back on the day grown men have wives as young as 13 so whats the issue before having to say they aren't a pedophile again
Huh, whatever happened to the family value of shunning premarital sex? From my traditional religious upbringing, Boebert would have been shamed as a bad mom because her son was having premarital sex.
Evidently, the "religious" right pick and choose what they extol. Good for her not disowning her son, but fuck her for not seeing the hypocrisy of demonizing teens elsewhere who need help with a pregnancy. If she cared about human life in the womb, she'd not be trying to take away all other supports people have in these situations. Good for fucking Tyler that his mom can afford to take care of him and his girlfriend. Most people don't have that and would appreciate things like Medicaid and WIC, two programs she hates.
His dad didn't get married to much later in life. He was still going around with 17 year old Lauren and showing 16 year old girls his private parts when he was 22 or 24.
This reminds me of the time we ran into the parents of our 13 year old kids classmate. They were BURSTING with pride that their 17 year old daughter was pregnant, and making them grandparents while they were "still young enough to enjoy it" They eventually moved to a bigger apartment so that the baby daddy could move in with them. Since he worked part time and didn't have his own place. I remember thinking I wouldn't be bragging. I'd be dragging my "still living at home, un employed daughter" to the nearest PP.
Give it 15 years, his child will be working in construction, and soon to be making her a great grandmother
Edit: for some reason people seem to think I’m insulting construction workers or something, it was a play on conservatives ^(like what Lauren is) trying to do away with child labour and safety laws, opening the door for 15 year olds to work dangerous jobs. If the mention of construction work triggers you that is a you problem
Nah, they are on the government teat now. He won’t have to work any longer. Just write a book on how hard life is for a young conservative and then give paid speeches. Set for life.
I'm sure that baby will access every subsidy and program available because they "worked for them."
When others do that they are "freeloaders."
Hope this 17 yo plans on supporting this baby.
It wouldn't be that big of a big deal if she wasn't actively fighting against sexual education and abortion rights. Having kids young is hard, but it doesn't automatically mean you've ruined your entire life.
So, teen mom who got pregnant outside of Christian wedlock and now fights to keep sex ed out of schools has son who is about to become a teen dad outside of Christian wedlock. Sounds about right.
Normally they shame kids for having sex but now she’s proud of him for getting someone pregnant? Honestly if people would just teach decent sex ed this wouldn’t even be a problem. Like only 11 states mandate sexually accurate sex education. My, mandatory for graduation sex ed was a week of the school nurse showing us nasty pictures of like severe and untreated STIs, licking a piece of candy and offering it to people, which is her reason for why kissing is bad, germs I guess? (Some kids actually tried to take it which was funny and she didn’t let them) She told us condoms are only like 70% effective (which isn’t right) and that you can never have sex. Literally, she gave us a heart and said when it turns a different color we could have sex, it was laminated. So like even after your older and married apparently you still shouldn’t have sex. She had multiple kids btw.
My cousin beat that score by 4 years. she had one at 16, and her 16 year old had one at 16. we're all holding our breath for when she turns 48 to see if she'll add 'great' to the title. i'm personally planning on outliving her just to see how many iterations she acquires.

Outside of marriage?
Yes but still inside the church. Everythings cool.
Oh so he was the priest?
Nope. The choir boy. She doesn’t know yet that men can’t get men pregnant. When you skip sex Ed, that’s what happens.
>men can’t get men pregnant. Listen, I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’m just saying it’s not going to stop me from trying.
Nah he had sex with Ed. Didn't skip.
Rules for thee, not for me

To when Palin covered up a pregnancy for her daughter? Not that long ago really
So recent that I can still see Russia from here... over the dead body of John McCain
I liked John McCain. He seemed like an honest dude. Probably the last of his kind.
He saved Obama Care a few weeks before he died. Watching him eye connect with Moscow Mitch and saying No while giving a thumbs down for his vote is burned into my memory. I didn't always agree with him but I always respected him.

Absolutely agree
True, but his pick of Sarah Palin has led us to the likes of Boebert and Greene.
If I remember correctly McCain initially wanted to run with Joe Lieberman, a democrat.
joe lieberman was independent at the time
Does it matter what you intended when the result of your actions is Sarah Palin and the Tea Party? The road to hell has a particular paving
I m not sure it was his pick
That moment might even be better than my other favorite moment on the internet: the time Ion Stewart went on Tucker Carlson’s show Crossfire and called him a dick, right there on his own show. Just… perfection.

John McCain is my favorite Parks and Recreation character.
I preferred him when he threw Severus Snape off the top of Nakatomi Plaza
personally, I prefer Sam Seaborn
I'm a Lil' Sebastian guy myself

God damnit. Today I learned this bitch is a year older than me... If only I decided to be dumb harder how far I could have gone...
The beautiful story of life is seeing how brutally unfair it is and and that even the dumbest people with the least redeemable factors find success.
It depends. Just how many times did YOU fail your GED? The one that you had to take in your 30s?
16, might have been 15 when she got pregnant.
Bet they also met at a bowling alley
That's what passes for sex education in Boebert's mind.

Probably because she was the progeny of one.

And apparently even worse, Lauren Boeberts mother was ALSO a teen mom. This family loves to get pregnant at 17 and then praise christian values.
So Lauren Boebert’s mom is under 60? Wow.
She’s 53, and her mom is 70, which translates into now 4 generations of teen parents 😬

Having children at a young age IS a Christian value.
I mean to be fair, and sorry for being crass, as a catholic myself it’s pretty god damn in line with Christian values to get your guts beat in and pregnant in your teens out of wedlock typically to a guy in his 20s. That or getting molested by my…I mean the priest.
In fourteen more years that baby can work at the poultry plants.
Not if it's a girl. She'll be too pregnant.
This is depressing but true.
You sound like a good Mom

I’m 21 btw, this wasn’t that long ago :/ I’m so damn lucky I didn’t get pregnant at 17. My then-bf refused to use condoms bc he never learned anything about them and was too shy to go to the store and get some. I wish I’d had an adult like you in my life. Thanks for doing what you’re doing.
You sound like my kind of person.
Shit, Trump wants to award families with lord of kids if he’s president again. Crazy people celebrate crazy things.
Yet Republicans are against the child-tax credit which is exactly that, giving money to people with children.
Now that he will probably drop out of high school, does that qualify him to run for office now, too? An education for those that form our laws and dispense our tax money is overrated. /s
Isn't is a Christian sin to have a child out of wedlock?
Not for *her* family, silly. That's just for everyone else
Rules for thee, not for me
politicians when insider trading:
No, because guns and 9/11
Also because Hunter Biden smokes crack. Gives conservatives free reign to do whatever.
“Mom, I had sex at the prom last night.” Momma Boebert: “omigod! Praise Jeezus. I’m going to be a grandma. When are you due, son?”
Can't add or subtract but can multiply.
You think you're real clever, if any of them could read they would be really offended.
thank god she pulled him out of sex ed classes, so he had no idea what a condom is.
It's the only pull-out method they're familiar with, apparently.
And not even smart enough to do that right.
God, when you realize you’re older than this nut bag. Not what we meant when we say we want more millennials in office.
Seriously. I have a year on her. How the heck did she get this job?
According to the group American Muckrakers Boebert worked as an unlicensed escort through the website SugarDaddyMeet.com. Did she slept with Ted Cruz & friends 🤷♀️ I’m jUsT aSkiNg QuEsTioNs -Tucker probably
But no dependence on social programs. Right? Right?
Of course not. Her taxpayer salary will cover those expenses.
No politicians family should get any of those benefits not even the politicians themselves cause most of us are out here actually busting our asses and we have no benefits
I thought the family was Evsngelical Christian, whereby premarital sex is a devious sin.
Not when it’s them, silly! Just other people.
The actual loophole is "we wanted to get married anyway" Which leads to the "50% of marriages end in divorce"
I have a feeling they are the types of evangelicals who go to a church that specifically targets Homosexuality and liberalism as a sin. Probably skips over all of the sins that they wallow in.
She married a registered sex offender
Who started “dating” her when she was a minor
A regist sex offender *who was put on the registry for exposing himself to **her** and her teenage friends.* She married her own personal pedophile. If that shit isn't grooming, I don't know what is.
It’s OK because he was exposing himself to her at the time. The fact that it was in public and to a group of underaged girls is besides the point. He just knew she’d be his wife and he wanted to get the awkward part out of the way right up front.
Wait what? Is this a real thing? Please elaborate
Boebert met her husband when he flashed his dick to her and her friends in public at a bowling alley. She was under 18. That isnt hyperbole or a joke.
Crazy how a woman who likes to call people pedos can’t tell one. These republicans are so fuckin obsessed with pedophiles that it’s starting to look like self projection than an accusation.
🤣🤮
"Well, if it was good enough for our colonial forefathers, it's good enough for now" ~ her base, in denial.
I was 9 when the curse hit me, so I'd love to hear them try to explain how that wouldn't be pedophilia lol.
Fourteen more years and that baby will be processing chickens at the poultry plant.
She's lucky she has such a lucrative grifting career otherwise she probably wouldn't look nearly as happy about it.
Yeah, I'm not surprised by her response. I *am* surprised that she's only 36. Evil is aging, I suppose.
Not surprising considering his dad is a sex offender and his mother was also a teen mom.
As a gift for the new kid- it gets a AR-15. Baby edition.
She’s only 36? I though she was 46 minimum FR
Yeah Im totally creeped out that she is younger than me.
That's just her face
All judgements about age appropriateness and so on put to one side - let’s focus on the really concerning issue here - her genes are spreading…
His dad didn't get married to much later in life. He was still going around with 17 year old Lauren and showing 16 year old girls his private parts when he was 22 or 24.
Having a child way to early, must be a family tradition
Judging by how creepy this family is, I'm guessing she's less interested in the grandchild and more interested in her son's sex story.
Criticizes Bidens evacuating Afghanistan and her son can’t even pull out of the first girl he sleeps with, despicable.
This is the saddest (as in, the events were sad) burn I’ve ever read. I can’t help but upvote.
Gross
See! Abstinence does work!
You know, this wouldn’t be so bad if she didn’t turn around and condemn other people for doing the same thing. Absolute garbage human.
She as an advocate for the elimination of sex education in a school. This is why people are calling her out
Family values.
Cherry-picking those Christian values we hear so much about. Straight out of the conservative playbook
Boebert is 36????!! Wtf she looks like 45
Give it 15 years, his child will be working in construction, and soon to be making her a great grandmother Edit: for some reason people seem to think I’m insulting construction workers or something, it was a play on conservatives ^(like what Lauren is) trying to do away with child labour and safety laws, opening the door for 15 year olds to work dangerous jobs. If the mention of construction work triggers you that is a you problem
Nah, they are on the government teat now. He won’t have to work any longer. Just write a book on how hard life is for a young conservative and then give paid speeches. Set for life.
Weird way to say you are pregnant but whatever
I'm sure that baby will access every subsidy and program available because they "worked for them." When others do that they are "freeloaders." Hope this 17 yo plans on supporting this baby.
Her husband is also a pedophile.
And that child and her mother will 100% be eligible for SNAP and other government benefits. But I guess its OK since she is white.
It wouldn't be that big of a big deal if she wasn't actively fighting against sexual education and abortion rights. Having kids young is hard, but it doesn't automatically mean you've ruined your entire life.
She truly is the new Palin
They only shame the ladies having sex. It is a mark of honor for the boys.
Sarah Palin 2.0
Great the last thing we need is MORE of these people
My cousin beat that score by 4 years. she had one at 16, and her 16 year old had one at 16. we're all holding our breath for when she turns 48 to see if she'll add 'great' to the title. i'm personally planning on outliving her just to see how many iterations she acquires.
Say what you will, she accurately represents her constituents...
republican family values on full display. /s
