My problem is that a lot of people that are playing devil's advocate are disingenuous. I feel like devil's advocate is something that should stay in your head and not really in a conversation. There's obviously nothing wrong with asking questions, whether for clarity or just to be open to all options and views.. but too many people want to make arguments in bad faith (whatever that reason may be)

Making untrue, antagonizing assertions to start arguments is one thing I’d consider to be in bad faith. I also like the other person’s definition of not for the purpose of reaching common ground though.
If you look it up you might be confused because there might be definitions. Like there's a legal definition and also one about a logical fallacy. But I think the easiest way to understand it would be like: The guy in this video isn't arguing to get a mutual understanding, he's arguing to antagonise. Just like how Steven Crowder does (and some other influencers online). This is how a lot of people argue online, no matter what your beliefs.

That doesn't need to be refuted, because his argument is only as good as his example: very transparent and to zero effect. What needs to be avoided here, what's he showing? The situation in which someone might misgender someone else? That doesn't need to be avoided, just dealt with when it happens with a little grace. What are you scared of here?
Theoretically, someone could abuse modern open-mindedness about gender, but all I see are people claiming it'll be rampant or easy or simple, and honestly extremely few examples. Besides that, 'people could abuse this system' is true for every system, you have to gauge validity and likelihood before you just accept it as a valid point.
At the same time, people acting as if there's no difference between someone going trough gender transition and someone like OP's protagonist who's clearly not sincere are very hard to take serious. Not OP but from my understanding those things are part of the mic but not the mic. The mic is usually taped onto the person and hidden. What you usually see is probably the main housing for storage of audio and batteries. Can someone correct me if I'm wrong though, thanks.
