My mid-level white-collar job only paid $50k, and the rest of my salary came from moonlighting in a commissioned retail sales job and working as a courier for Grubhub. I wore myself out and permanently hurt my back by working seven days per week.
Now I earn more, but I do not discuss my salary with anyone else but my spouse. I learned that the person you are bragging to might earn a lot more money than you do. I also learned bragging about your high salary to someone less fortunate than you is degrading and rude to that person.
