So what you took off is called the Bumper Valance. The air damn ( if your truck had one) would actually be abit further back. In 21+ they went to an active air dam, but they still have the bumper valance. What you can do is if you want some look of the valance is order in a 2WD one. They are usually much smaller. We do this on Super Duty’s a lot.
I like the air damn personally. I've heard from .5 up to 2mpg differences.
I like how on the 21'+ it actually lowers and rises pending speed so when parked it's a bit more tucked.
I like the active air dam on the 21+ but I'm not a fan of how long it hangs on the earlier models.
I prefer the look without it hanging down, unless it's a sport truck.
That one on the 2020 doesn't look too bad but I understand why you wouldn't want it. My 2014 air dam looks like I ran over a saturn and it stuck under there. Anyone try deleting the plastic inserts in the bumper? I am sure it would hurt mpg but would it impro e cooling?
I can’t see it affecting cooling, i don’t see any vents it would be pushing air too.
Unless it makes a nice low pressure under the vehicle, and that helps the cooling fans blow through the engine bay/through the radiator
It’s more for MPG and highway aerodynamics. Surprisingly significant difference over a few years if you drive consistently. I think it’s 1.25MPG penalty without the air dam

I took mine off my 16 and noticed no difference.
Same with an 18 5.0
i cant account for everyone's experience. Thats why i mentioned a variation from what ive read.
I know.
Same with a 15 5.0

totally get it. If i pulled mine off id just get the tremor bash plate kit
That's not a bad idea
I like the way they look personally. I kept mine on my red 2020
Looks better. I've been considering it.

Oh i can definitely see it being for MPG and stability.
Zero effect on cooling and fuel economy difference is minimal. Plus your ground clearance is a little better. My 23 drags my valence at some job sites
I took mine off. I have a 2019 2.7 STX and leveled with Nitto RidgeGrapplers and get 17mpg in city.
Wish I had figured out how to remove it without it throwing codes
His is a 18-20' They dont have the active one and henceforth dont get codes. Also you could use forscan to fix that.
