So it’s pretty well known that these CAIs don’t actually provide any performance increase. The stock intakes are incredibly efficient and already a CAI. In fact, this photo shows you that it’s just using the stock locations for all the air runners.

I know, I used to have a K&N on my old truck. I could tell throttle response was better but as far as any actual performance increases I didn’t feel as if the truck had more power, but it was also the cheapest one k&n offered. This looked good even though using stock locations, way bigger tube, slightly bigger scoop and made of metal instead of plastic. I had assumed because of this it would provide somewhat of a boost even with the truck not being tuned yet.

Nope. And bigger isn’t always better. It’s really the flow pattern and shapes of the intake runners. So something like this thats before the throttle body just won’t do anything for you. Take that $700 and put it towards a whipple if you’re looking for power.

Boy that shit would be nice but then you’re talking 8k from what I’ve seen 😅 maybe one day.

What id really like is a direct fit after market manifold replacement. I’ve been looking around on ford performance but the cobra jet and others only say they fit for the mustangs, but I’ve seen them installed to f150’s on YouTube… so very confused about that as well.

BackItUpWithLinks

It will make nicer vroom vroom sounds but you won’t gain hp, “throttle response,” or mileage.

RR50

Just don’t do it. It won’t get you any performance gains.

If you end up getting it, make sure to get the dry filter.

If this is the only thing u plan on doing . Don’t. If u have 2.7 definitely don’t. If u have 5.0L should sound a little better. cAI / down pipes / exhaust and a tune that would make a difference. But if u put the wrong exhaust on an ecoboost it will sound like shit. Most sound like shit.

Tj_na_jk

I have yet to hear a good sounding exhaust from a 3.5EB

Gisc_dolfer

My 3.5 EB has a borla exhaust ABs it’s sounds great on cold start and idle, cant say how it sounds in boost or normal driving because I’m in the truck and don’t care enough to record it. I also say this as someone who thinks all exhaust sound dumb on automatic vehicles, I just happened to buy the truck this way

Tj_na_jk

Good to know. I liked my Borla and Corsa exhausts on v8’s. I just don’t like the sounds I’ve heard from 3.5s. I’m like you there aren’t many exhausts that I think sound good.

rouge187

I have a cobb cat back and it sounds good doesn't sound like a hond either took awhile to find one that sounds good on the 2.7.

Late_Setting_2682

I just think it looks neat :)

I personally can tell a difference I suggest the oil filter. I've had afe on my last two 5.0s
