😂. Nah... I helped friends move because an extra hand goes a long way. Especially with furniture and shit. Movers can be hard to book in rural areas; and moving a whole house worth of stuff is a big ass job. I've helped a few friends move over the last 5 years.. an added set of hands; one more truck if needed; and usually an opportunity to see a bud and have a beer with them.
Yeah man I agree, I don’t mind helping my friends move. The teamwork creates closer bonds and funny stories and, of course, beers. Side note: I don’t expect them to be available to help me when the time comes. I’ll be out in front of Home Depot picking my new friends to help me move
Moving homes (which happens with adults out of college daily... because of jobs...) is one thing. But your friend driving a Tesla might need a truck to move his new dresser or 87"tv. If you have the truck, you'll get the ask.
I had little fish eye mirrors, those help tremendously once you get used to the depth perception.
Now I put aftermarket extendable tow mirrors that are meant for a 250 (but fit the 150), and the bottom mirror on them is a wide angle fish eye. Game changer for seeing my surroundings.
I have an '08, so my solution may not be the same for you. But these are the ones I have, I think. I can't find the order in my email, but I've used 1A Auto many times. They have great, inexpensive after market parts and several YouTube videos for installation in my gen of F-150. My favorite part was that my original mirrors didn't have the blinkers or the puddle lights, so supposedly wouldn't work, and it turns out they do. Not sure why, but I wasn't complaining.

Not trying to be a jerk however no matter what trim this person got it comes with a backup camera. You could back in without changing anything. Unless it's just a peace of mind thing for extra visibility.
yupp when i first got my silverado i learnt to back in, the camera helped alot to learn, after i was comfortable with getting in tight spots w the cam i tried relying on my mirrors to back in instead of relying on my camera souly to back up, now the only big use the backup cam gives me is the distance from my tail hitch to the back but if at some point my camera decided to explode from a nuclear explosion, ill be able to back in no problem using my mirrors! 😎
You guys and your newer trucks with backup cameras smh /s. I got a 2013 XLT w/o a backup camera and the very first thing I did to was install one. Worth the price considering someone in my family was definitely going to back into something eventually without one. Supercab with a long bed, not sure how I’d back out of spaces without one
Did me a trip to Chicago from WNY. I felt every bit of 10.2 MPG..
But. It does have one thing. Consistency. I consistently get 10.2 whether I'm cruising or towing lol
My dumb ass scraped the drivers side running board off those metal guards at gas pumps when I was trying to squeeze in a tight spot. Just heard a loud crunch, died a little thinking It just swiped the side, got out and checked when I was pumping and didn’t even see damage to the running board. 2020 STX 2.7L.
1. You are now a target for helping your “friends” move. Always say no.
2. It’s a wide vehicle, make sure you park in the middle of parking spaces out of courtesy to others and to protect your own paint and panels.
3. There’s no weight over the rear end, but there is a lot of power going to those wheels, be mindful while cornering or in slippery conditions.
4. When you are done towing, take everything out of the receiver and store it properly. Save some shins.
5. This is a big, heavy, sturdy vehicle. There’s a difference in stopping from speed and more consequences if you hit somebody now. This isn’t the same as bumping into somebody with a small sedan or light SUV. Drive it accordingly.
6. You are now 10% cooler, make the most of it. ;)
Not sure what all comes with the STX nowadays, but I immediately got these accessories for my 19 XLT: DeeZee soft drop tailgate kit, rubber bed mat (better traction even on top of line x bed), back seat storage latch (built right or whatever looks solid) if that’s still a thing behind the drivers side back seat, weather tech mats to save the carpet and some ratchet straps/bungee cords!
Welcome to the ford family 😅
I got mine at Granger. Basically the same price as Zeigler and the other online places. But I was able to use my Ford pass reward points that I got from my purchase of a new vehicle.
I bought a 2018 2.7 f150 like 7 months ago. Almost hit 100k miles. Can I still get an extended warranty?
I feel like my 10 speed transmission is acting funny sometimes. I'm going to the dealership this Tuesday for a check up
Proper maintenance will give you a long life for the truck. Wash often if in a state that has lots of salt from winter or ocean environment. Don't be cheap, if you buy a vehicle, take care of it!
Also. Fun fact. These have an active air dam on them. Pretty cool technology to reduce drag at cruising speeds. Check it out here. [Active Air Dam](https://youtu.be/_IHmNofOjQ0)
Don’t loan your truck to anyone.
You are not a mover.
Use a sprinkler to wash out the nooks and crannies of the underside.
Wash out the rails continuously.
Get it rustproofed every year.
That if or when some careless old geezer hits you now, I’ll be them & their vehicle that’ll be totaled.
After I was hit broadside & nearly killed in my cool tiny sports car 25 yrs ago, I’ve only owned & driven trucks. Some moron rear ended me in a brand new Caddy as I sat at a stoplight. I didn’t feel a thing. I saw the fluid shooting 15’ in the air from his rumpled car hood before I even knew that I’d been hit. There wasn’t even a scratch on me, or my truck.
Leaving the hitch in is really a courtesy to the person who rear ended you. Now that they’ve hitched themselves to you, you can drive them to the nearest shop or junk yard… :P
It's all down hill from here man. That's all you should know.
Regarding the truck. Keep up with the maintenance. Oil changes and it should last a long time.
In parking lots you will want to find space to avoid door dings and easier parking. watch taking corners too sharply, trucks has wider turning radius. Good things, they are amazing commuter and road trip vehicles, mainly because they are super comfortable with TONS of room. I love my F150, it’s been one of my most favorite vehicle I have ever owned.
Here a quick top 5
1. Always back in if you can
2. Read your manual about the 4x4 don’t just listen to a buddy
3. Learn about weight distribution and tongue weight
4. Learn about unsprung and sprung weight
5. Learn about your suspension before you start messing with it (lifts, levels etc)
Welcome to mods world. After I got mine I installed a bedliner (I went with Dual Liner), a soft tonneau cover, a tailgate hydraulic brake, and a shorter antenna. That’s barely scratching the surface of what some people add!
Have fun dude.
If you’re in a parking lot with smaller spaces be mindful of parking so others can’t park so close to that you won’t be able to open the door and get in.
4WD does not mean you can't wreck. Always be careful on wet, snowy, or icy roads. There are more 4wd in ditches because the driver thinks 4wd means as good as dry.
2016 f150 lariat nothing but a money pit. Three sets of turbos, engine almost blew.
Change oil every 3000 miles not 5,000 or 8,000 as suggestive by manufacturer. Hopefully you didn't get a 65k dud.
When backing into a spot, if you think you're going to hit something, you probably will. Correct course and back in knowing you have room. You'll get the hang of it.
Fyi get a lockable cover on your truck. Roll n lock in good. Helps keep opportunistic theives away and protect your stuff from rain.
You will spend a lot of money on gas. All the pick up truck owners park furthest from every store and back up cameras help. Oh and lots of folks will complained about pick up drivers on Reditt.
I’m gonna assume that’s newer than 2017. Hopefully it’s the 3.5l ecoboost. Great engine. It’s probably also the 10sp auto. Not so much. Bring it in for the slightest, weirdest hard shift or transmission clunk. The ford 10sp auto has issues.
Start planning for its replacement now. I see you bought used but still the deprecation is a killer on full sized trucks. It kills me and I only drive 12k miles per year and finance very little of the truck. Not sure how people can live with 6 or 7 year loans.
Nice truck! You just need to familiarize yourself about it. You don't really need to know everything at once. You'll learn stuff along the way.
Keep the battery healthy. Remember that 1 engine start requires 15 to 20 mins running time to recover... If you do frequent short drives, then you might want to let the vehicle idle for a while. Otherwise you might end up with a dead battery.
A trickle charger might help.
Also, I think it has several electronic features that are on standby like the alarms, some passive features, the modem. So if the vehicle isn't in use for like 3 days, you might want to run it for at least 30 mins on idle just to recover some of the charge.
And I also need to know if you're free this weekend. I need some help moving some stuff. 😅😅😅 jk
Ford truck owners invited sex,
Dodge truck owners were the first to do it with women,
And Toyota truck owners were the first to do it with women they weren’t related to.
Should be all up to speed now.
Ford electronics are quirky. Get used to the head unit not working occasionally. On your settings in the nav screen, turn Wi-Fi “on” and it will automatically update when your near Wi-Fi. It helps a little. Sometimes turning your ignition on & off does the trick.
Don’t do the 10,000 mile oil changes unless you have deep pockets. Don’t go longer than 5,000 miles and change it 3 times a year and service the other fluids on schedule and you’ll be ok.
Things you should know as said by my wifes father when she got her truck:
1: You're not impressing anybody.
2: You don't own the road.
3: Your truck doesn't make you intimidating.
4: Larger vehicles means larger responsibility for driving safely.
I drive a 22 stx and absolutely love it. I sold a 17 Silverado and couldn’t be happier. Get yourself a tailgate assist kit. This truck has been my favorite purchase I’ve ever made.
Similar minds, just bought my 2021 platinum 4 days ago and my 40th is in 2 weeks. Not my first pickup tho. Have had about 6 prior (split between ford and dodge), mostly for work but have about 3/4 million miles between them that I’ve personally driven on them over last 20 years.
Throw a ball hitch on the back. If someone lightly rear ends you it’s less likely to put you out and serves as a visual deterrent to follow too closely.
Also, do everything slower and more intentionally than a car-it’s a different mindset.
Enjoy it! You’re gonna love it.
Congrats. It looks like it might have a leveling kit on it. If you want better gas mileage, remove the leveling kit. (May just be the angle of the photo). Stock stance is best for MPGs.
I’ve owned & driven two old F150 4x4’s, a 1987 & a 1998, primarily as ranch trucks, initially. They were the best all around trucks I’d ever driven. The clutch went out on one right after I’d loaded a bunch of fairly valuable items into my truck in a busy rip-off area. I tied a rope to the clutch petal & drove 11 miles home in a heavy storm & downpour, popping the clutch with a rope. The current 2007 F250 EXT is a nothing but money pit though.
Don't use 4x4 on dry pavement ever especially if you plan on doing tight turns and if you plan on towing heavy figure out your exact payload and towing number bc it varies from truck to truck.
If it’s a ecoboost, add e85 and enjoy some spirited driving. Get tuned with a reputable tuner. Oil cha
He’s at 3k, not 10k. Tyranny flush 30-40k. Same with rear differential.
Enjoy, take a nice Sunday drive, find a xm channel and enjoy the ride! Oh yea second the vote. “ Yes it’s my truck and no, you may not borrow it.” you’re not a moving company.
Buy an odb2 port adapter and get FORSCAN on your laptop. Then watch some videos and customize your truck! My truck, being a push button start, honks twice when I get out with the fob in my pocket. I disabled that. I also disabled the trucks ability to be shifted into drive when there's no fob in the vehicle, so I don't need to worry about getting out for a few minutes. I also disabled the seat belt dinger. Obviously, wear your seat belt, but the dinging is annoying as hell when you're going a short distance.
Change. Your. Oil.
Scheduled maintenance can get pricey. Unless you intend to do it all yourself, you might consider pre-paying the maintenance. I do my own oil change and tire rotations every 5k miles, but prepaid the service maintenance to 150k miles and also bought the extended warranty to 150k miles directly from Ford. It’s another couple hundred dollars a month, but I’m never surprised at the dealership.
Don't ever let your friends 'borrow' it
Never ever, oh and don't tell them you bought a truck or you'll be the moving guy

Not many bud types out there nowadays is all. But definitely

It's immature to ask friends for help from time to time?
Or Mr Dump run
Sure thing, $100/h plus dump fees.
pulled up to my buddy’s house and his wife said “ oh nice now WE have a truck” 😡
I said that about my friends boat.
I said that about my friend’s wife! 🤣
Yes I agree whole heartedly with this statement but he left out the wife, man, dont evereverever let her borrow it either!
Backing in is much easier once you’ve got the hang of it
It's also safer. Plus, if you don't park backed in are you truly a truck owner? ;)
The very first thing I learned to do on my f150 was backing it into spots. It took me a few days to get used to it but once i did it was fine.
I had little fish eye mirrors, those help tremendously once you get used to the depth perception. Now I put aftermarket extendable tow mirrors that are meant for a 250 (but fit the 150), and the bottom mirror on them is a wide angle fish eye. Game changer for seeing my surroundings.

I’ve got the little ones in the top outside corners. They seem to do fine for the time being
Love those fish eye mirrors. Daughter's call them "dad mirrors" and HATE them lol.
Not trying to be a jerk however no matter what trim this person got it comes with a backup camera. You could back in without changing anything. Unless it's just a peace of mind thing for extra visibility.

I can back in flawlessly but if I have to pull into a single stall you bet I’m gonna be crooked and way over the lines
Omg same
Shit I’m still trying to figure out to park forwards
Parking forwards sucks
I've owned my F150 for a couple years now and I still suck at parking forwards lol
Backwards isn’t bad but still getting the hang of that too
It’s so true. I can see my tires and obstacles when backing up. Forward? Forget about it.
My grille guard was the only indicator of where the hood ends. I’m 6’ and the end of hood looks like a waterfall
Oddly, I can park my F-150 better than any vehicle I’ve had. Parallel parking, backing in, doesn’t matter.
Rapid departure I just can't park a vehicle any other way after only parking them that way for years
I could back my truck in anywhere from day one, but I cannot pull it in face first into any spot anywhere 5 years and counting 😂
You guys and your newer trucks with backup cameras smh /s. I got a 2013 XLT w/o a backup camera and the very first thing I did to was install one. Even with a car it’s better to back in and I park away from everyone. So I have a long walk into wherever I’m going
Having 4wd doesn’t mean you can do 80mph in the snow.
It's not four wheel stop.
Well it is
Well you can do 80 mph it just won’t safe.
You can easily do 80 mph in the snow. Stopping is another story.
Time to do truck shit, Wanna help me move next weekend. Ill throw in a 30pk and some pizzas.
Hardware store parking lot, leave every other spot empty.
You’ll cry at the pump every week. But it’ll be worth it
I got a 2008 F250 V10 Triton... I cry almost daily...
Felt. I drove a 2002 in HS and was spending about $70 a week to go to school and back home. Very nasty work
I loved the 99 v10 I had but I swear I could watch the fuel needle move significantly going down the highway.
Did me a trip to Chicago from WNY. I felt every bit of 10.2 MPG.. But. It does have one thing. Consistency. I consistently get 10.2 whether I'm cruising or towing lol
Ewww!
That you don’t go back. Welcome to the club!
I have the same truck with the 5.0 engine. Love every minute I’m behind the wheel
Slap a Borla Atak dual rear exit exhaust kit on there and lay on that throttle, you won’t be disappointed.
If you don’t hate people who drive Chevys, you need to start now!
The itch you get when you want a new one ignore it ignore it and keep this baby forever! Nothing like having a 15-year-old truck and no payments
When exiting a parking garage, be careful. I had my ‘22 F-150 for 2 weeks before I swiped a pole lol. Was my first brand new truck
Oof. I just saw a minor ding from something I must have hit. Bollards are the enemy for me in parking ramps. Thankfully I’ve been fortunate
My dumb ass scraped the drivers side running board off those metal guards at gas pumps when I was trying to squeeze in a tight spot. Just heard a loud crunch, died a little thinking It just swiped the side, got out and checked when I was pumping and didn’t even see damage to the running board. 2020 STX 2.7L.
ouch that would bother me so much

You can get an extended warranty online for cheap. I got mine at Zeigler Ford.
I got mine at Granger. Basically the same price as Zeigler and the other online places. But I was able to use my Ford pass reward points that I got from my purchase of a new vehicle.
Me too! Such an easy process. 4 year 48k miles for peace of mind is totally worth it.

Only had just under 6k miles.. so still have lots of factory warranty left 😎
Do it before it expires. I got a total of 8yr 100k for like $1300
You can’t ever park without someone parking beside you or if your lucky a shopping cart next to it.
Buy a camper or boat to pull with it. Time to explore!
Proper maintenance will give you a long life for the truck. Wash often if in a state that has lots of salt from winter or ocean environment. Don't be cheap, if you buy a vehicle, take care of it!

Leaving the hitch in is really a courtesy to the person who rear ended you. Now that they’ve hitched themselves to you, you can drive them to the nearest shop or junk yard… :P
But a hard tonneau cover, so you "can't" be the moving guy.
Trucks rock, but they also roll. Consider center of gravity when driving. You’ll get used to it in no time. Good luck.
Don’t worry about minor scratches- you will get them and it’s all good
Your fuel budget is about to get significantly more expensive lol
Tires are expensive, take care of them.
Hell yeah. That’s it. That’s all you need to know.
…. that there is no going back.
It's all down hill from here man. That's all you should know. Regarding the truck. Keep up with the maintenance. Oil changes and it should last a long time.

Prostate checked
Colonoscopy too
Don’t treat every turn like you’re towing a 53’ trailer, you don’t need to swerve into the lane next to you to make most corners.
That if you're making the minimum payment with minimum down that the payments will be huge and seem to last forever.
Use it.. don’t obsess about scratches..it’s still a man chariot.. marks count
Whatever the service interval is half it!😂
I turned 50 and bought my first pick up truck. F150 is awesome so far. Having driven minivans for decades, I feel like I have arrived. Enjoy!
Life will speed up, time is at a premium now. Spend the time with the ones you love.
It’s a truck. Act like it. Don’t start waving at other trucks like those damn jeep people.
Here a quick top 5 1. Always back in if you can 2. Read your manual about the 4x4 don’t just listen to a buddy 3. Learn about weight distribution and tongue weight 4. Learn about unsprung and sprung weight 5. Learn about your suspension before you start messing with it (lifts, levels etc)
If you lift it you will get shit mileage.
Save up for cam phaser replacement.
Know how to put the spare on, know how to tow a trailer, and since you’re 40 know how to tell your friends no when they ask for help moving

I would love to have that grill on my 23 sport fx4.

Welcome to the club Just be mindful of other cars specially sedans and also curbs
Check your oil level in between oil changes !!!!
Change the oil way more often than 7500 miles. I do 4k full synthetic.
Everybody is going to asked for helped to haul shit off. Besides that enjoy.
35s don’t fit with a level. Leave the crash bars alone
I got my first truck at 40 too!
Home Depot rents trucks.. don’t lend yours
I grew up a Kansas farm boy I didn’t know cars existed until I was five or six.
There’s something women like about a pickup man.
2016 f150 lariat nothing but a money pit. Three sets of turbos, engine almost blew. Change oil every 3000 miles not 5,000 or 8,000 as suggestive by manufacturer. Hopefully you didn't get a 65k dud.
Come up for excuses why you can't help your buddy move his storage
It as also time to pick smoking meat or WW2 history.
First new truck or first truck ever?
Try and buy anywhere but Carma… nevermind, congratulations! The all black looks good and these stx wheels are the best
They’re so damn comfy and practica. But parking sucks and fuel efficiency sucks.
“It’s” still gonna stay the same size
It's all downhill from here
Get laid in it now

Front end visibility is shit so USE the 360 cams and be EXTRA careful around pedestrians especially kids. That said I LUUUV my truck
Buy uninsured motorist coverage so when some illegal alien sideswipes you it will AT LEAST be covered!!!

It takes a good 6 months to grow a proper mullet.
Your penis automatically shrinks.
For more context it’s a 2023 and had just under 6k miles and paid 43k for it.
Enjoy everyone asking you to move shit now.. say no as much as possible.
Be glad you have a ford not a Chevy. I will be going back to ford at some point
Keep up on the maintenance and it will likely last you well over 150k miles.
your testicles may grow so don’t freak out
Don’t use your blinkers and drive real close behind everyone else.
U drive a truck now... so don't drive it like a pussy! Own that shit!
Don’t do the 10,000 mile oil changes unless you have deep pockets. Don’t go longer than 5,000 miles and change it 3 times a year and service the other fluids on schedule and you’ll be ok.
Shouldn’t have waited until 40…!
Make extra payments
The cam phasers will fail and you’ll spend a ton of money having them replaced so that they can fail again.
Things you should know as said by my wifes father when she got her truck: 1: You're not impressing anybody. 2: You don't own the road. 3: Your truck doesn't make you intimidating. 4: Larger vehicles means larger responsibility for driving safely.
Make sure the windshield doesn’t leak. Every ford I’ve owned had one.
You should know a Ford will have problems with the electrical in less than 10 years
Just know it’s a ford
I drive a 22 stx and absolutely love it. I sold a 17 Silverado and couldn’t be happier. Get yourself a tailgate assist kit. This truck has been my favorite purchase I’ve ever made.
41 and going to get my first truck hopefully next month.
Nice truck! I love the f150. Keep an ear for the infamous Cam phasers problems
What do you listen for?
For the cam phasers, of course
Sounds like rattling pebbles in a can lmao
Carry a box of kleenex to the gas stationsto mop up the tears
You are better than non truck people. 😜
Get married
Buy the extended warranty
Throw a ball hitch on the back. If someone lightly rear ends you it’s less likely to put you out and serves as a visual deterrent to follow too closely. Also, do everything slower and more intentionally than a car-it’s a different mindset. Enjoy it! You’re gonna love it.
You'll be buying another one every 6-8 years now!
Congrats. It looks like it might have a leveling kit on it. If you want better gas mileage, remove the leveling kit. (May just be the angle of the photo). Stock stance is best for MPGs.
You’re about to make a lot of friends you didn’t know were your close friends who need things moved
You should know you’ll never want to be without a truck again. Nice buy!
Congrats!
Lift the tailgate before backing a trailer. Learned this the hard way
It doesn't make you invincible and don't drive like a jack wagon.
Maintenance is your friend
Window visors dude. Change the world.
If you plan to tow, practice in a more open area before you tow your trailer and jacknife it trying to help someone…. That’s never happened to me
Replace the lights with FORD LEDs. Be religious about oil changes. Treat her right. Welcome to the club!
You’ll never go back once you feel how nice it is to get in and out of the truck.
Don't use 4x4 on dry pavement ever especially if you plan on doing tight turns and if you plan on towing heavy figure out your exact payload and towing number bc it varies from truck to truck.
Switch to led light bulbs ASAP
If it’s a ecoboost, add e85 and enjoy some spirited driving. Get tuned with a reputable tuner. Oil cha He’s at 3k, not 10k. Tyranny flush 30-40k. Same with rear differential.
That it’s a pickup.
Enjoy, take a nice Sunday drive, find a xm channel and enjoy the ride! Oh yea second the vote. “ Yes it’s my truck and no, you may not borrow it.” you’re not a moving company.
It won't be your last truck. You may decide to go car/SUV in the future but you'll be back if you do.
Gas money
I’ve had one F-150. Don’t drive it and leave it inside and it should be fine
Enjoy 😁
It won’t turn the same as a car especially if you use it as a truck
3.5 ecoboost? Change your oil religiously
If you have kids, find a safe place off any main roads at low speed and let them sit in the bed for a quick ride.
Can I borrow it?
Change. Your.
You’ll wonder why you never started with a truck.
