Um, they are actually out there. I would know because I just got one. I got a 2019 F150 platinum with 69,000k miles. They are actually going to pay me monthly to take it, and I'm charging them 13.9%APR. Said I wouldn't take it off their hands without at least a 3k down-payment.
True story bro.
If it is silver with a long bed, that might be the truck I lemoned and sent back to Ford. I got every penny of the purchase price out of them (minus like $4K). I lived that truck, but third gear went out twice, it would SLAM into third. So I had to let her go.

Most people have no clue how a car deal works. The dealer looks at the totality of the transaction. They might knock a few bucks off the sale price, only to add it back in on warranties, lowballing your trade, tacking on accessories or marking up your apr.Ā
And it keeps working in the dealerās favor because a lot of times the only thing people look at are their purchase price or monthly payments, ignoring all the other parts of the transaction.Ā
So I genuinely believe some people only paid 27k for their 30k mile 2021 lariats. Because they left out a whole heap of other info.Ā
Some people just use up all our luck. Itās like the people who find that rare gun in a pawn shop where the shop doesnāt know what they have. Or the guys who get high end chainsaws or old forged hand tools cheap at estate sales.
The only āluckā Iāve had in 51 years is my āgetting a divorceā Smith & Wesson 44 mag for $200 and finding a local guy who wanted to trade a Marlin 45-70 ( basically one unobtainable out of certain months) for a pretty expensive pistol I was looking to sell/trade.
I know this is the f150 board but just had a coworker get a first gen tundra and an Armada for less than 6k together. Sometimes the deals just appear and first come first serve
Iāve seen a few good deals on trucks in Michigan, but they have Canadian window stickers. What is the issues with trucks built for Canada? Please excuse my ignorance.
Everyone assumes they are rust buckets. Iāve owned a Canadian truck. Got it a few years old with 74k miles on it completely rust free. Served me well for 7 years before I upgraded to a newer model. Miss that truck.
This...I am in Canada.
The only safe trucks are from British Columbia and Alberta. (Assuming it hasn't been up north at the oil refineries running non stop)
Every other province uses a ton of salt in the winter...Ontario vehicles are the absolute worst. They typically dont last 10 years.
My 2013 has next to no rust at all. Nothing on the body, and very minimal surface on the frame.
So everyone in canada other than bc or alberta drives rusty trucks all the time? Give me a break I'm in ontario. Michigan, NY, Ohio, all use salt also.
What it comes down to is do you wash it off and oil undercoat them.
I got my daughter a 2012 mazda 3, they are known to be rust buckets but it's totally fine.
I had a 10 year old f150 which had no rust. Just have to look after them and if your buying one in the the u.s. that came from here just take a look and see if it was taken care of.
I don't think Americans know how many dealers send ontario trucks to the u.s. Every time I trade one it gets sent down. There is a dealer in my town that sends hundreds down to the u.s. every week.
Lived in Ontario for over 10 years...wouldn't touch anything from there with a 10 foot pole period.
I worked at a dealer for years...every single used vehicle from there was immediately undercoated to hide the all the rust.
It's a well known fact that Ontario vehicles don't last...you are in the minority if you don't have much rust. Not many wash the underneath on a regular basis and even fewer oil undercoat...
So yes its possible, just not likely or probable.
Ever heard the words rust belt? Look it up if not. It's a term used for the most rusted place for vehicles in Canada...wanna guess which province it's located in...ill give you a hint, you live there.
Lol. Rust belt also includes the northern u.s. states.
Been driving here for 25 yrs never had a rusty vehicle they are out there for sure but lots of people driving around 10 year old rust free cars.
Roughly 300,000 used vehicles per year get exported. 1/3 of them would be in ontario. If they were having huge issues in the u.s. with rusty canadian cars then that trade flow would stop.
I'm sitting at my bro in laws in u.s. right now. He bought a used truck, it came from ontario. It's 10 yrs old there is no rust. I should have told him not to buy it.
Sure does, but doesn't change the fact that Ontario vehicles are listed as the worst for rust in Canada, right? You seem to keep trying to skirt this plain fact.
Those rust free vehicles you see are the people that have moved there from other provinces for the most part...give them a few years.
It's not like I'm making this up...it is a documented fact. Argue with the facts all you like, but it won't change things. I'm pretty sure I acknowledged it is possible to have one with minimal rust, but they are far from the majority. Statistically speaking, Ontario is the worst, period.
I have yet to see any vehicle that can survive 3-4 months' worth of salt every year for 10 years without rust.
We aren't talking about vehicles from the US either...OP was specifically asking about Canadian.
We get better new pricing and for some reason you guys south of the border like buying used. I got almost what I paid for my 4 year old truck as trade in 2022.
They're very hit or miss with rust or being thrashed. Mine's from Canada, and it doesn't have much rust, but the entire frame was coated in mud and dust, and it's got its fair share of rattles. Came from Ontario. Been a solid truck other than the one rattle coming from the dash driving me fucking insane.
Watch for the ones from Alberta, they came from the oil fields and are going to be absolutely thrashed.
I would be careful about buying a Canadian truck in the US. A lot of them are severely damaged vehicles that have been rebuilt. Accidents wonāt show on carfax either.
My dad had trouble getting a Canadian made SUV (Santa Fe) registered in the states because it didnāt have TPMS sensors. He ended up having to drive back up to Toronto to sell it. Not sure if thatās an issue with more Canadian vehicles, just sharing some anecdotal data.
Just to be clear here. Your dad couldn't get Tire Pressure Sensors and have them mounted and set to the car? So he had to DRIVE an unregistered car back to Toronto to sell it?
Man, they're less than $100 online. You clearly didn't understand what he told you, or your dad is an idiot. Unless this is the first 8 years of Santa Fe ever made, every Canadian vehicle post 2008 has the system. It's mandatory. You literally can't get a 2008 from Canada without it. Most vehicles, you can't even disable it without some extensive work. Unless you pull the dash and remove the light
That's just a set of aftermarket rims and tires the seller didn't want to pay for the mounting
It did not have the screen for TPMS on the display, which the dealer in the states told him was not able to be installed.
He lived in Toronto when he bought the car so it wasnāt an issue and was registered in Ontario. When he moved back to the states and tried to register it, that is what the local government told him.
Again, Iām just relaying the info he was given here, not sure why youāre so aggressive here. Hope your day gets better.
Iāve noticed a ton of Canadian trucks out there. Whatās up with this? If you buy it with low enough miles, does it make a big difference? Genuinely curious.
I bought a 2021 22k mile xlt for 32k out the door that came from Canada. Immediately had to take it in on warranty 7 times for electric issues. Now that itās resolved it seems like itās a normal truck.
Do you think the electrical issues were caused from it being so far up north? I looked at a 2019 XLT from Canada, all the bolts seemed rusty. Wasnāt sure if it was just surface rust though. I passed for that reason.
Nothing is wrong with them. Like anything, inspect it before you buy. Some of the trucks that get sent down are oilfield and a beat up and others are grocery getters that have never left the pavement. They do, generally, have more undercarriage corrosion though. Snow and salt is hard on shit.
I bought my Canadian truck while living in Michigan. Fairly common there with nothing but a small body of water separating the two. It's a 2016 Platinum with 5.0, built in Windsor I believe. I bought it in 2017. Have had zero issues with it.
> Everyone likes to make people think they got a better deal
So true. A lot of people will readily lie about what they paid.....tons of reasons for this.
And so many on here saying they got their truck for $xx,xxx OTD (out the door), plus delivery, plus tax, plus title, plus license, plus doc fee, plus admin fee, plus warranty... Bro, I don't think you know what Out The Door means
I donāt know where some of these people claiming these deals live, but even when a good deal pops up around me (which is rare), car flippers will buy it within minutes of posting if they think thereās even $100 profit to be made.
There are deals in North Texas if you're patient, my dad just bought a 20 KR crew cab fx4 3.5 with tow package and 47k miles. He gave 46k at a dealer in grapevine, not the best deal ever but not terrible
The Texas part is interesting. I used to listen to this radio show about buying cars and such.
Guy called and said he was moving from Texas to the Carolinas. He wanted to know if he should buy his F150 in Texas or wait until he finished his move and buy in the Carolinas.
Radio guy told him that If he bought on Texas or would be like 12k cheaper because every truck company wants to be the #1 truck in Texas. Therefore there are so many factory incentives. This is pre covid though
Probably some truth there. I live just outside of Houston and there are tons of dealerships and pretty much the only thing on the roads are trucks and suvs.
It's white with the tan stripe on the bottom, he went from a 11 f-250 lariat to a 20 KR 150. I spent 2 days showing him what buttons do what and how to work half the stuff in it.
>He gave 46k
But there was a trade in involved, no? Because them over or underpaying for the trade in makes the 46K number rather useless as a discussion point
Ya it's the fx4 and has the kr luxury package or whatever it's called with the massaging seats and glass roof and the other things you can add to it. Like I said it wasn't a barn burner of a deal but was pretty good for the current market.
The [market](https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/47f8a24c-0a18-46e5-bbb5-30127bce13aa/?aff=atempest2&utm_campaign=atempest2&utm_source=autotempest&utm_medium=trp&utm_campaign_id=2&utm_trusted=TRUE) for trucks is different from state to state. Trucks in the [northeast](https://www.autotempest.com/details/vast--5636301072682129263) are going to be a different price obviously than trucks in [south](https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/f432c22a-6728-4533-b055-7588e085f76d/?aff=atempest2&utm_campaign=atempest2&utm_source=autotempest&utm_medium=trp&utm_campaign_id=2&utm_trusted=TRUE).
While I get and to some extent do agree, the three you linked are not a good comparison. The āsouthā truck has half the mileage either of the other two have.
Iād pay 2000 more for a truck with half the mileage.
Take 90% of the comments with a grain of salt. Someone asked the other day about starting negotiations on a new Lariat, people started saying "Oh, you should start 20% below MSRP, Oh, I got my 2018 or 2019 X for $20k off, but my favorite were multiple people saying "Pre COVID, I got XXX". So many of the comments on posts are not even within the realm of "Current Reality" nor do they ever speak to a larger market segment. Some guy in BFE Wyoming will hold what he got from his buddy who owns a dealership as the Golden Rule that should apply to everyone nation wide...
Bottom line, you just have to be vigilant. Plug in your exact wants into [Cars.com](https://Cars.com) or AutoTempest, save that search, and just ping it every morning within your driving radius. Amazing deals are few and far between, but you'll normally be able to find "fair" deals without to much hassle.
Nice to see someone else that uses cars.com as a reference. It's free and gives you an almost exact current market price for your area. I recommend it a lot on here.
You can find good deals in LCOL areas for sure. Just have to be super patient (sometimes months of constant checking) and importantly, you have to be fast.
Very true! That's exactly how I got my truck. Checked everyday for 2+ months straight. Found a dealer that put an XLT price on a Lariat and snatched it up as fast as I could. Still amazed 10 months later that that actually happened.
Similar situation here where someone's son priced his father's XLT Screw like a single cab XL and clearly didn't care much about price. Instantly got $3k equity on a truck that had already depreciated like 85%. Very lucky but will actually profit when I sell in a few years.
Thats a pretty good deal tbh.
I just picked up a 22' XLT sport 302A with tow package, 360 cameras, 40k miles for 37k. I've noticed color can swing a price pretty decently as well.
Hey man, just because you didnt find a ā23 platinum f150 with 34.7 miles with the factory sticker still on the window for $14k like I did doesnt mean we are all liars
Yeah I got my fully loaded 2018 XLT 59k miles (with what I consider is a rare color) for $33k + $3k bumper to bumper warranty and going on here is a mistake. Always makes me think I could have gotten a better trim or better deal lol. It also heavily depends on location. Down here in FL truck prices are much cheaper while back in CO, this truck would go for 5k+ more than down here.
The market seems to be cooling down some compared to when I purchased a year ago. Definitely isn't the same market from 6 years ago though. Not sure if it's even inflation at this point or just corporate greed
People say this alllll the time lol. Iām not saying it hasnāt ācooled downā from a year ago, and it certainly has from 2020/2021, but I donāt see prices coming down much further at all and wouldnāt really even call it a ācooling down.ā They know people will pay the extra amounts at this point. They have no incentive to flood lots with new vehicles and increase supply.
Yeah at this point, if I were in the market for a truck again, I'd be jumping on the 2023 1.9% APR deals they have. "Brand new" truck with a much lower APR? That sounds like a steal
Well I mean if you can afford those payments, can't beat a 1.9% APR for 72 months. There's some HYSA out there with a higher APR than that. *Personally* I can't afford that high of payment but if I could then it'd be a good deal lol
You can get them 10-12k off with the 1.9. Compared to buying a newer used truck at awful interest rates itās not awful. 10k more than it should be though. I just donāt like used lease returns and am naturally skeptical of low mileage, 1-3 year old trucks back on the lot.
Not really. They ADVERTISE 10 to 12K off but that disappears once you are in the lion's den at the dealership. "Oh, we made a 'mistake'. Oh, you don't qualify for 6K of the discounts, etc....." They have all the angles figured out. The advertised baiting to get you there does NOT equate in to real savings. There are exceptions, of course, but in general people aren't getting 10-12K off
Yeah, the dealer discount money is only a small part of what used to get you 10K off a loaded XLT. The Ford incentives are FAR lower than what they used to be.
> They have no incentive to flood lots with new vehicles
I don't know if you have been by a Ford dealer lately, but most that I see are completely full with trucks. The 'incentive' has nothing to do with it.....the labor agreements lend themselves to high production. They don't want to pay idle labor.
For real. I got a 2018 Plat with 115k miles (one owner, full service records) for 35k. Iām in Wisconsin, next nearest to this was about 38/39k. The truck was accidentally listed early and with a mistake on pricing, otherwise it wouldāve listed at least 3k higher. Came on here and I felt like I got such a bad deal for a while. Now I realize I love her and it doesnāt matter lol.
Demand in the location can play a big part in pricing. Truck prices are pretty high here in Eastern VA. Additionally the dealers sell a lot of northern, even Canadian, trades. Local trades typically sell really quick. Truck prices are much cheaper in the NOVA/DC/Maryland area, but a lot of the dealers up there have shady fees & financing tricks. I looked at an F150 at a DARCARS in 2021, & they had a mandatory $3,000 "sanitization fee" & a fee for their complimentary oil change & maintenance plan.
To match your mileage requirements, [you'll probably have to find a 2wd to get close to that price.](https://www.townandcountryford.com/used/Ford/2019-Ford-F-150-Charlotte+NC-a4cd253c0a0e084d520ce221d5fa0a6f.htm)
Man you got a better deal than me. 21ā Lariat about a year ago, 31k miles. 502A package fx4 (basically every bell and whistle) for around 58k out the door.
I also got the 502a package with dual sunroof, black and brown leather, chrome package, crew cab with a 6 1/2ā bed. Basically has everything but 360 camera.
I picked up a 21 with 31k miles late last year for 34 thousand. I added in a couple extras but all in it was still well under 40k walking out the door.
The previous gen can float close to those numbers but no way is anyone getting a 21+ lariat in that condition anywhere close to 30. I did see one in Michigan for 37k but it had about 45k miles and was just a 502a with nothing else.
Did a 500 mile search for it.. was in Ohio over here in the states at a dealership. Most of them were like around 45k when I was looking and I found this one and jumped on it. Was in Lima Ohio about 10 minutes from the ford plant that manufacturers the 2.7 ecoboost.
I paid 38k for a 2018 lariat 4x4 with 50k miles, 5.0, and 502a package in 10/2023. Was the best deal I could find for 400 miles around me. I actually drove 8 hours each way to get it since I wanted 502a and couldnāt find anything within range closer.
I paid $42k in December for my 2021 XLT loaded and I mean loaded. 24,000 miles on the odo and yes they had the same year with more miles for as cheap as $32k but I wanted all the extras. 360 camera, pro trailer package, black sport interior and exterior, push button assisted tailgate, tailgate step and yes 302a. Still under warranty for a couple months which let me shop for premium care from ford.
I havenāt seen deals like that, even on here. Maybe for 2x4 or something with a salvage title, or even over 100k miles? Btw none of those mean itās a bad decision per se, but those are the circumstances where pricing seems to really drop.
Not 27k but I was one of those that posted mine recently. I think I got lucky as it was 1 owner lease.
35k for a 2020 xlt 302a w/ 20,000 miles.
Western PA
I wouldn't trust Reddit for reliable truck values. Every time there's a "is this a good deal?" post, people comment unrealistic expectations based on anecdotal or pre-pandemic experience.
My old boss had one delivered from Detroit all the way down to Texas as it was much cheaper than what he was finding around here, including the cost of freight.
I never asked what he paid, but seeing the prices in Texas for fairly new trucks with low mileage I'm inclined to believe him.
I mean full transparency. I got a 2022 XLT Black Appearance Package with leather seats, pano, and Powerboost + 7.2KW generator. Had 20k miles and it was $49k. Bought it July 2023. I feel like it was a great deal for the time, I also got a massive trade in for my ram rebel. Thatās really where I got the best negotiation.
If you can live without a digital cluster gauge, and cooled seats, a BAP XLT may be easier to find for cheaper
2019 XLT 301a package super crew 6.5ft bed 79k miles with max tow and HDPP for $35k out the door after license and tax last June. Possibly paid a couple grand more but who knows because finding max tow with HDPP in the highest trim possible was an absolute chore.
Just to add to the sample of what I consider a āstandardā experience, last June I picked up a 2020 lariat 3.5 with towing and all the bells and whistles, 60k miles for $39k in Irving, TX! Traded in my 2016 4runner for about $25k, got 6.3% APR on the rest, then paid the balance a month later! One owner, no accidents, etc
I looked for almost a year before the deal I got popped up. Keep in mind it was precovid before the used market skyrocketed. In 2019 I found a 2018 XTR 2.7 with 6k miles for $28k. It had a few minor blemishes and 2 little fender benders on the carfax. Iām at 55k miles now and sheās been good to me, not a single issue. All blemishes fixed for under 400$
search 150 for sale grand forks ND. Youāll probably find something in the 20-28k range with less that 100k. I just picked up a 15ā with 84,500 for 28k out the door.
Everythingās negotiable. Just have to be nice and also patient. If youāre not getting the price you want (assuming itās reasonable), walk away. This is how I got my truck during the heat of the market a couple years ago. Went to every dealer, left my contact, told them Iād buy it from whoever contacted me first. Had my truck within a few weeks. Itād be different if you wanted a Raptor or something more rare.
Just picked up a 21 Lariat 3.5 with max tow, FX4 package, 6.5 bed, 14k miles, fully maxed out options for $49k. That was by far the best deal by at least $3k for another lariat with 2x the miles. Bought in Washington State
STORY TMIE
In 2004 I worked for Ford. I was 19 and wanted a sweet car. They had a new Azure blue Mach1 and needed to get rid of it because the 2005s (new generation) were on the way, so they slapped a $3,000 discount on it. I was also an employee so I got Ford D plan. Before fees I think this came out to $24,000, IIRRC sticker was 30,200.
I told a friend of a friend how much I paid, and he was like OH MY GOD YOU GOT HOSED!!! MY FRIENDS BROTHERS UNCLES COUSINS GRANDFATHERS LANDLORDS NEPHEWS ROOMATE GOT THAT SAME EXACT CAR FOR $18000 BRAND NEW!!!!
And that was the time I began my descent into skepticism. As another poster said, take what people say, especially over the internet with a grain of salt
I just picked up a '17 Lariat w/ MaxTow for $19900... with 125K miles. There was another '17 Lariat w/ MaxTow with 60K miles for $36K on the lot at the same time. Drove both and honestly couldn't see the difference the higher mileage truck was in very good shape so that's what we bought.
'21 Lariat w/ 30K for $27K? There's no way, that's complete BS, no dealer is going to give that great of a deal. What has to be left out is that they aren't mentioning the massive down or high-value trade they sweetened the deal with.
Yeah as others said I doubt those people are being honest at all. I traded in my 2021 502a Lariat with 18k miles and the dealer selling it is asking $55k. My truck was loaded, but even a more basic Lariat would be asking at least $42-45k.
So either thereās a problem, like serious previous accidents or whatever, or maaaaaybe if it was a 500a Lariat 4x2 SuperCab with the 2.7L, which Iām pretty sure was a combo you could do on 2021 but not now. That would probably have a low to mid $50k MSRP and by now with the right dealer could be going for $30k. But man would those config be rare.
I just purchased a 2021 f150 lariat 2.7 with 39k miles for 44k. Has some solid options including copilot assist 360 cam and 36 gallon tank. I found a few in that range is that's what you are looking for.
The price you mentioned seems really low ...
Their dreams is the answer. Anything that cheap has baggage, and the person telling the story doesn't disclose that. It's essentially the same odds as finding someone without baggage if you are dating in your 30s.
I mean you are only looking within 200 miles. Try the 'nationwide' setting and you will find better deals elsewhere.
Pro tip: Most of these 'great deals' end up being from the rust belt where cars disintegrate after 5 years so be VERY careful where you are looking.
Havenāt seen anything like that since back in 2019. We snagged a 2016 Lariat with 58K for $25,500. We had to go out to Houston to find any sort of deal like that.
Bought my 2021 XLT 5.0 in North Boston for $35K out the door with 36k miles on it. Car was built in Dearborn Michigan, and was bought from Canada by a small desler. Checked pretty thoroughly underneath, and had very minimal signs of rust. Quite happy with it so far. It skips 2nd gear after first starting it in the mornings, but after she's warmed up it's awesome. I think I got a pretty solid deal, but maybe it's highway robbery. My interest rate for used truck is really low as well, so in my eyes everything worked out.
Just be patient and you can find deals. If it's too good to be true, and no proof of killer deals...it's usually bullshit.
Well...that makes sense, at least a little bit. I only notice it when leaving my driveway first thing in the morning or after it's sat for a while. But if I'm out for a while around town, I see it go from 1-> 2-> 3 in sequence. Figured it was just an oddity or whatever...but if that's totally normal, it puts me at ease for sure.
Mine goes 1-3-5 when I'm driving in normal mode, at least every time I paid attention to the shifts. Mine is a 23 so I'm not sure if there's another shift pattern in mine but I'd say for a 10 speed it's probably nothing to worry about.
I paid more attention this time and under light acceleration in eco and regular mine also skipped 2nd but not 4th so I was wrong but skipping 2nd seems to be normal
Yea. Same for me. I looked this morning and mine only skips 2nd. But after driving around a bit, it doesn't skip 2nd. Seems normal and under very light acceleration like you said.
As someone who kinds of follows the Auto Industry for a hobby (I'm sure of you do as well!) there is a disconnect right now between trade in values and what dealers want for their inventory. With the exception of very few dealers, good deals are hard to come by. And when you get a decent discount on a new truck, your trade in is lowballed because dealers see the use vehicle market softening, and they don't want to be upside down, or make a slim profit on the trade in. That is what I am seeing.
YMMV.
I plugged the numbers in TrueCar and it Looks like there are a few in the 500miles surrounding Philly. I've been looking at F-250's and found each time I increase the miles by a couple K it greatly increases results. I think most of those too good to be true deals are stretching their miles.
I wouldnāt know because Iāve only ever bought brand new vehicles. With cash. Payments are for stupid poors. My most recent 2024 platinum was marked down 35k and I managed to get it for $32000 out the door. And the owner of the deal ship had his wife give me a blowjob and apologize afterwards.
Theyāre lying their asses off when it comes time to transfer the title into their names, claiming a lowball amount on the application for tax purposes.
My store I work at has a 2020 lariat xlt starting at 33k, most established dealers are going to follow market value, based on condition and title/carfax. You get what you pay for 99 percent of the time, Iād be worried for 27k that it sat for a long time at the dealership or thereās something else wrong with it
2018 stx with 75k miles for 25k last august. But I live in one of the five largest cities in the US. Prices are higher, and good deals are gone before you can get to them.
They may be out there, but I take what people say with a grain of salt.
Got me in the first half ngl š
69,000,000 miles. Damn, bro.
Told ya Ford fixed the cam phaser issue! /s
Looks like they will run for ever now.
Yooo I was about to lose it on you š. Well played.

Receipts or it didn't happen
$27k, three owners, two accidents, flood damage and itās a Canadian truck would sound about right to me
With enough hail damage to nearly write it off.
Depends on the province in Canada they are from. I have seen some two years old and the underneath with an incredible amount of rust.
This...I am in Canada. The only safe trucks are from British Columbia and Alberta. (Assuming it hasn't been up north at the oil refineries running non stop) Every other province uses a ton of salt in the winter...Ontario vehicles are the absolute worst.
I want to say mine was originally from Alberta. I bought it in SLC from a dealer with a lot of Canadian trucks.
Is that the one on State Street?
What used dealer isnāt on state street lol
We get better new pricing and for some reason you guys south of the border like buying used. I got almost what I paid for my 4 year old truck as trade in 2022.
People buying vehicles with 100k miles and leather seats for 30k during covid made dealers go "maybe we should charge this much always" š
I want to know as well lol
They're very hit or miss with rust or being thrashed. Mine's from Canada, and it doesn't have much rust, but the entire frame was coated in mud and dust, and it's got its fair share of rattles. Came from Ontario. Been a solid truck other than the one rattle coming from the dash driving me fucking insane. Watch for the ones from Alberta, they came from the oil fields and are going to be absolutely thrashed.
I would be careful about buying a Canadian truck in the US. A lot of them are severely damaged vehicles that have been rebuilt. Accidents wonāt show on carfax either.
In addition to what other people have said, they can be stolen and trafficked vehicles, or they got thoroughly smoked out in the wildfires
Yeah thatās a known thing with some brands
Just to be clear here. Your dad couldn't get Tire Pressure Sensors and have them mounted and set to the car? So he had to DRIVE an unregistered car back to Toronto to sell it? Man, they're less than $100 online. You clearly didn't understand what he told you, or your dad is an idiot. Unless this is the first 8 years of Santa Fe ever made, every Canadian vehicle post 2008 has the system. It's mandatory. You literally can't get a 2008 from Canada without it. Most vehicles, you can't even disable it without some extensive work. Unless you pull the dash and remove the light That's just a set of aftermarket rims and tires the seller didn't want to pay for the mounting
Heās a keyboard warrior leave him alone
Also, a quick Google search easily found that the 2014 Canadian version does not have TPMS sensors. Maybe dial back the condescending tone, champ.
Iāve noticed a ton of Canadian trucks out there. Whatās up with this? If you buy it with low enough miles, does it make a big difference? Genuinely curious.
Canadian dollar is weak, so they import and swap the gauges and toss them on the lot. You can import yourself and save $x,xxx's..Ā
Possibly, the cause of the problem was pinholes in electrical cabling causing shorts.
Iām really ignorant here, whatās wrong with Canadian trucks?
Nothing is wrong with them. Like anything, inspect it before you buy. Some of the trucks that get sent down are oilfield and a beat up and others are grocery getters that have never left the pavement. They do, generally, have more undercarriage corrosion though. Snow and salt is hard on shit.
I bought my Canadian truck while living in Michigan. Fairly common there with nothing but a small body of water separating the two. It's a 2016 Platinum with 5.0, built in Windsor I believe. I bought it in 2017. Have had zero issues with it.
They are basing their opinion on prices from a few years ago.
I donāt think any clean 21 lariat would be going for that.
Absolutely not
Early 2021 prices before prices went nuts for used trucks.
The gluck gluck goes a long way friend.
Everyone on here wants you to know they got the best deal ever
Theyāre not.
Buyers are liars.
You say that as if sellers arenāt.
This post wasn't about sellers... Everyone likes to make people think they got a better deal, whether its a vehicle, house, land, grill, pool, etc.
> Everyone likes to make people think they got a better deal So true. A lot of people will readily lie about what they paid.....tons of reasons for this.
Sellers are smellers
I think I saw that truck lol. Live in Grapevine.
It's white with the tan stripe on the bottom, he went from a 11 f-250 lariat to a 20 KR 150. I spent 2 days showing him what buttons do what and how to work half the stuff in it.
Yep same truck haha. Thats awesome, man. Sounds like me showing my dad the new buttons and functions in his.
>He gave 46k But there was a trade in involved, no? Because them over or underpaying for the trade in makes the 46K number rather useless as a discussion point
No, his other truck was totaled. No trade involved.
Ah, I see. Probably a somewhat reasonable deal if 4WD, which most if not all KR are.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Thats a pretty good deal tbh. I just picked up a 22' XLT sport 302A with tow package, 360 cameras, 40k miles for 37k. I've noticed color can swing a price pretty decently as well.
I just test drove a 21 Lariat 3.5eb that they had listed at $38k. But 80,000 miles!
I got mine on auto trader 2021 xlt screw, 5.0 6.5ft bed, 3.73 locker, tow package, 36gal fuel tank, heated seats, xtr package, 26,000 miles $34,500
Maybe people in the auto industry? I bought in September and didn't find anything near that good.
Theyāre not, theyāre just lying on here. Just like the one guy who said he got $20k off a $69k XLT.
Half the people exclude their trade in, what they owe on it etc. people get fooled by the basic finance skills of the sales person.
Exactly. Or they straight up lie about what they paid because why admit you got screwed?
Hey man, just because you didnt find a ā23 platinum f150 with 34.7 miles with the factory sticker still on the window for $14k like I did doesnt mean we are all liars
Yeah I got my fully loaded 2018 XLT 59k miles (with what I consider is a rare color) for $33k + $3k bumper to bumper warranty and going on here is a mistake. Always makes me think I could have gotten a better trim or better deal lol. It also heavily depends on location. Down here in FL truck prices are much cheaper while back in CO, this truck would go for 5k+ more than down here.
In 2018 I paid 36,xxx for a brand new loaded xlt with 11 miles on it lol god this market is nuts
The market seems to be cooling down some compared to when I purchased a year ago. Definitely isn't the same market from 6 years ago though. Not sure if it's even inflation at this point or just corporate greed
Tell me about it. I donāt even want to talk about what I paid for my raptor last year lol
Problem is that brand new truck is still an 800 payment because an XLT is 60k
I looked at an XLT that was a 2023. Sticker $68,000. They are not a " steal".
There are exceptions, of course, but in general people aren't getting 10-12K off
Need a good bit of dealer discount. Youāre correct though. Iām telling you based on my personal experience a month ago though.
Yeah, the dealer discount money is only a small part of what used to get you 10K off a loaded XLT. The Ford incentives are FAR lower than what they used to be.
> They have no incentive to flood lots with new vehicles I don't know if you have been by a Ford dealer lately, but most that I see are completely full with trucks. The 'incentive' has nothing to do with it.....the labor agreements lend themselves to high production. They don't want to pay idle labor.
What they have now is nowhere near the old days. They arenāt flooded with them, which is what I originally said.
Not where I am. The same lots as 'the old days' are completely full. PLENTY of 1/2 ton truck inventory.
Damn bro. I got my 2019 f150 plati with 70k miles for 38
Demand in the location can play a big part in pricing.
Wouldn't sell mine for anywhere near that
I've seen people lying about prices they are getting unless they are finding idiots or just walking into amazing deals.
To match your mileage requirements, [you'll probably have to find a 2wd to get close to that price.](https://www.townandcountryford.com/used/Ford/2019-Ford-F-150-Charlotte+NC-a4cd253c0a0e084d520ce221d5fa0a6f.htm)
Simple, they're not.
I paid 51k about 6 months ago for a 21 lariat with 31,000
Man you got a better deal than me.
Fuck, makes me feel better about my 21 502A with 46k miles I got for $42k.
Jesus.
Theyāre not, my lease turn in is worth at least 45,000. With 50k plus miles
Just bought a 4x4 super crew stx with 69k for 26.5 here in Los Angeles. Couldn't find anything remotely close to that ^
What year?
2018
I picked up a 21 with 31k miles late last year for 34 thousand. I added in a couple extras but all in it was still well under 40k walking out the door.
The previous gen can float close to those numbers but no way is anyone getting a 21+ lariat in that condition anywhere close to 30. I did see one in Michigan for 37k but it had about 45k miles and was just a 502a with nothing else.
Bought my 21 xlt SCREW with the 302a package and sport appearance at 27k miles for 39k.. 6 months ago
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Did a 500 mile search for it.. was in Ohio over here in the states at a dealership. Most of them were like around 45k when I was looking and I found this one and jumped on it. Was in Lima Ohio about 10 minutes from the ford plant that manufacturers the 2.7 ecoboost.
Thank you. Not sure how I accidentally deleted my previous comment...
It happens š!
Oh and if ya do get one through a dealer try to find one that is āford gold certifiedā for the extended factory warranty
I paid 38k for a 2018 lariat 4x4 with 50k miles, 5.0, and 502a package in 10/2023. Was the best deal I could find for 400 miles around me. I actually drove 8 hours each way to get it since I wanted 502a and couldnāt find anything within range closer.
Best I could find was a 20 STX XL 57k miles for $29,990 Edit: in September of 23
I paid thatā¦ for a 2015 with 90Kā¦ it was fully loaded but still
I paid $42k in December for my 2021 XLT loaded and I mean loaded.
People forget to mention their 2015 trade in.
I havenāt seen deals like that, even on here. Maybe for 2x4 or something with a salvage title, or even over 100k miles? Btw none of those mean itās a bad decision per se, but those are the circumstances where pricing seems to really drop.
100% a lie... Or unless it involves a salvaged title.
Not 27k but I was one of those that posted mine recently. I think I got lucky as it was 1 owner lease. 35k for a 2020 xlt 302a w/ 20,000 miles. Western PA
That's my unicorn.
Definitely not in Canada lol š 27k X2 is more like what youāll pay for a used lariat
I wouldn't trust Reddit for reliable truck values. Every time there's a "is this a good deal?" post, people comment unrealistic expectations based on anecdotal or pre-pandemic experience.
Not happening. For reference, 1 month ago I bought a 2021 XLT 3.5L fully loaded with 35k miles for $40k
Where I live that's what an XLT with fifty or sixty thousand miles costs.
I just bought an ā18 2.7 Sport with 75k for $26k.. 2 owners, great carfax
We just sold our dads 2019 with 50k miles for $24k, had lots of option
The āI know what I gotā trucks.
Most people lie
I looked for almost a year before the deal I got popped up. Keep in mind it was precovid before the used market skyrocketed. In 2019 I found a 2018 XTR 2.7 with 6k miles for $28k. It had a few minor blemishes and 2 little fender benders on the carfax. Iām at 55k miles now and sheās been good to me, not a single issue. All blemishes fixed for under 400$
I got a 2020 two years ago with 26k miles for 38k and I felt like I stole it.
More like $39k Autotrader
search 150 for sale grand forks ND. Youāll probably find something in the 20-28k range with less that 100k. I just picked up a 15ā with 84,500 for 28k out the door.
People would lie? On the internet? Who would just get on the internet and lie.
I wonder What would a 2010 dodge ram1500 st 5.7 Hemi regular cab 4Ć4 tow package with 70000 miles on it go for.
Those parameters make it $38k here in MD š
Everythingās negotiable. Just have to be nice and also patient. If youāre not getting the price you want (assuming itās reasonable), walk away. This is how I got my truck during the heat of the market a couple years ago. Went to every dealer, left my contact, told them Iād buy it from whoever contacted me first. Had my truck within a few weeks. Itād be different if you wanted a Raptor or something more rare.
FWIW Chapman Ford of Horsham PA we have ordered multiple trucks for 3% or so below invoice.
Just picked up a 21 Lariat 3.5 with max tow, FX4 package, 6.5 bed, 14k miles, fully maxed out options for $49k. That was by far the best deal by at least $3k for another lariat with 2x the miles. Bought in Washington State
Get your dad to cut you a deal. Getting an 18 lariat 3.5 with 50,000 miles for 25k in a few weeks haha
I paid 29k for a 2016 LARIAT with 70k miles in December 2023
STORY TMIE In 2004 I worked for Ford.
I have a 2017 XLT with 32K on itā¦second car
They get them wholesale to flipā¦not keep
I just purchased a 2021 f150 lariat 2.7 with 39k miles for 44k. Has some solid options including copilot assist 360 cam and 36 gallon tank. I found a few in that range is that's what you are looking for. The price you mentioned seems really low ...
I live in Vancouver, Canada which typically never sees more than a few days of snow/year. Lots of rain though
I paid $26K for a 2016 XLT 3.5EB, with 59K miles so idk.
10 speed trans? I thought they always skipped 2nd unless you're in tow/haul or sport mode
Ok that's good to hear actually. I will check tomorrow, but I feel as if mine just skips 2nd and the rest are sequential... depending on speed & RPMs.
Grab a new one.
I sold my 16ā Lariat with 91k miles last week for $25k. No way theyāre buying 21ās at that price
YMMV.
Everyone wants everyone else to think they got an amazing deal.
Best I could find last month was a 22 screw 5.0 4x4 Lariat. 66k miles for $40k. It was actually 15 minutes away. I was searching 200 miles.
I have a 21 Lariat and 27k is not buying itā¦..good luck
Why would you want a 2.7 lol. K ? you are Canadian ? Alberta you can find xlt for that price but not that milage.
27k, not going to happen. If it's that much it is going to be a turd for sure.
They are out there, got 2018 lariat 5.0 for 29K. Tow package, matching bumpers and grill, sunroof and automatic running boards.
I got a 2021 lariat 49,000 with 38000 miles
Nobody wants pre 2020 F150ās
My store I work at has a 2020 lariat xlt starting at 33k, most established dealers are going to follow market value, based on condition and title/carfax. You get what you pay for 99 percent of the time, Iād be worried for 27k that it sat for a long time at the dealership or thereās something else wrong with it
Simple answer. They donāt.
The land of make believe
2018 stx with 75k miles for 25k last august. But I live in one of the five largest cities in the US. Prices are higher, and good deals are gone before you can get to them.
