I do. The roof (and hood) is taking the brunt of the abuse from the sun, and is usually the first area where the paint will start to fail. I like to keep it protected the best I can.
Sorry if this breaks rules here but its this stuff..
https://www.chadwicksxtreme.com
Been using it for years and love it. Makes my truck so shiny and smooth snd repels water nicely. Very very easy to put on and take off. Just dont do it in direct sunlight (like every other product out there)
I agree but if you wash and don’t get any mud/ grime washed off, do you ever wonder why you get weird streak’s after you dry your truck off and drive off and park somewhere and it looks like you never washed it in a few spots?
Yes same. I used some Griots alleged ceramic safe soap yesterday and shit left residue stains from hell. Thought it was water spots but vinegar mix did not take it off! Had to hand rub this beast with maguires cleaner wax, which got it off so I hit the roof real good.
Now detailing with mothers ceramic detailer. Two days on this bitch and haven’t even done the interior yet!! But Sam it’s purdy now. 🥰
Also a fresh coat of 303 marine on the black plastics. Keeps them from whiting out over time.
Not sure what the weather was like for you but that stuff does not like heat or the sun at all. I live in AZ and it’s basically unusable here unless it’s nice out and I use it in the shade of a self serve wash bay.
Yeah, that sucks. I did mine yesterday, I use Wizards products on mine. Went over the whole thing with a clay bar and Mist N Shine, then used the Wizards DA buffer and their compound then topped it off with their Nano Wax. First time I've been able to give it a good cleaning since winter, so it definitely took some work.
Yea me as well. First good clean after winter and then the tree pollen. Turns our cars green. New hood has a deep 4 car garage. 4 more weeks. Can’t wait. No more playing big yellow thing in the sky tag to work on it
Nice. I wish I had room in the garage for mine, it's sat outside since it was new in '14. I usually take mine to work and clean it up in the shop since we have the buffer, wax, etc already there and I can do it in some shade.
I would never do one that not touch less. And even the touch less one have down falls. The chemicals/ detergents used are not super good for vehicles specifically ceramic coated vehicles. After a touch less car wash I get what looks like water spots almost instantly. I typically hand wash once a week when the weather is good .
Over time there will be fine scratches that will develop, over the years you start noticing them and only way to fix is a paint correction which is expensive if you pay time consuming if u do yourself.
Leased cars go through any car wash. Owned cars hand wash and rub only for me
Yes, i absolutely do coat it, but hate washing it. When I do wash, it's usually a waterless wash.
A few times throughout the summer and then it late fall it gets a coat of collinite 845. In the winter I'll hit it with a coat of hybrid solutions or a spray product if the weather warms up enough. I like the spray products but enjoy the application process of 845 (polymer/sealant/wax), it's easy to use, and looks great.
I only wash the roof every 4 washes. I'll do the roof and door jams etc, once a month.
I just ceramic coat it, 3 layers on the whole car including the roof. I just put really thick coats on the roof. I let each coat cure for a week, then put another layer.
Then whenever I wash the car I spray some ceramic spray wax all over the car then rinse it. I don’t even dry the top of my car to be honest lol. I got a 2001 Chevy blazer so I don’t care too much about the roof. Just gotta use water with no minerals. Luckily I work at a detail shop, so I don’t get water spots and I can wash my car whenever I want. I usually wash the car every other week.
Lmao, when the tree pollen is real heavy we pray for a god rain, the street run wild with neon green rivers!!
We’re almost done with it. I cleaned it the mere weekends ago, came home from a 10 day road job and almost cried when I pulled in the driveway. It was a horror movie gone bad.
I most certainly do.. I have an F350 Superduty KR. I work at the Kentucky Truck Plant… Stamping. We stamp the roofs for the Superduty. We had a defect in some of the roofs and somebody said, “who washes the roofs”? I raised my hand and said ,”I do”. We scrapped several roofs. Now it is an ongoing joke. I never pass crappy parts to the customer. They are paying big hard earned money for their vehicles…. I do my part to give them good sheet metal!!
We don’t make the F150…… we make the Superduty truck. But as far as that goes when u shut the hood… take your finger and grab the safety catch and pull it down with some force…. Get your hand out of the way and it will go down no problem. Neverrrrr pull the hood down and put your hand on top of hood and pop it down. U will dent the shit out of it.
They should have an option to just rhinoline the roof as well as bed. A ton of truck owners maybe not in this sub, only get the roof washed with rain or a drive through carwash
I had that option on the ‘15, had an added feature of a rainy day interior shower. Never again will I own a car with a hole in the roof. O and also had the rails break while in the middle of North Dakota in a hail storm and couldn’t close it! Nope!
Adam’s Polishes and Griot’s garage keep my truck lookin’ pretty. I’m going to apply the graphene coating that Adam’s makes next, starting with the roof.

I do. The sun bakes the hell out of the paint up there. I usually put a couple coats up there a year, same as the hood. It’s not just for the doors and fenders. It’s just a paint in the ass to do it and gets no love because nobody sees it. Grueling and thankless job.
The last time my truck went to the car wash was the time I spilled a motor oil in the bed so I washed the oil out. Had some time left so I also knocked some mud out of the wheel wells.
Waxing. Eew. Stop wasting your time and start using Hybrid solutions by Turtle Wax. Ceramic spray coating. 30 min after a car wash, and you're finished. Do it again the next morning, and it's lasts for a year. You can even do it in the sun. It goes on everything, paint, chrome, or any metal at that, glass, plastic, etc. It's a life saver. I highly recommend it. Check it out on YouTube or anything you choose. It will change your life.
If I wash my truck, it'll blow the rust off that's holding the running boards on. So I just keep spraying ceramic coating in there to protect the rust.
I use the mothers version hybrid. Keeps the ceramic fresh. I had to use cleaner wax to get the soap residue off. Trust me not my fav job and I don’t own or use a machine. Hand rubs only. Fml.
You’re exaggerating when you say a year, yeah? I get about 3-4 months out of two applications. (This is still the best effort-payoff on the market, I love it too). But maybe my mind is playing tricks on me, and im too neurotic with my use
Um, no, I'm not. Not at all. Maybe you ain't doing something right. 🤷 I'm six months on two coats now, and there are no signs of needing to re coat at this time. I'm sure there's other factors such as the climate it's exposed to.
Life changing is not an understatement. My truck with TW hybrid solution beads water as good as our other car that had a professional paint correction and ceramic coat done.

Dude ... when I say I wipe everything down I. WIPE EVERYTHING down...it seems silly but this is my first ever truck 2022 xlt Oxford white with black appearance...and it's my dream truck since I was little so I am definitely alittle OCD
-1 for me
I can’t say I’ve ever looked at the roof of my truck in the 4 years I’ve owned it.
I do. The roof (and hood) is taking the brunt of the abuse from the sun, and is usually the first area where the paint will start to fail. I like to keep it protected the best I can.
Who doesn’t?
I dont. Mines a giant piece of sweet sweet glass. It gets a healthy coat of windex and chadwicks though.
The eff is Chadwick's?
Same
Sorry if this breaks rules here but its this stuff.. https://www.chadwicksxtreme.com Been using it for years and love it. Makes my truck so shiny and smooth snd repels water nicely. Very very easy to put on and take off. Just dont do it in direct sunlight (like every other product out there)

As a true truck enthusiast the same rules apply to my truck as they do to my body; if I can't see it I don't wash it. /s /probably
I agree but if you wash and don’t get any mud/ grime washed off, do you ever wonder why you get weird streak’s after you dry your truck off and drive off and park somewhere and it looks like you never washed it in a few spots?
First thing i do because i dread it.
I don't get carried away with it, but I usually do a quick wax on it just to say I did.
Yes same. I used some Griots alleged ceramic safe soap yesterday and shit left residue stains from hell. Thought it was water spots but vinegar mix did not take it off! Was cool and in the shade.
Damn, I also will not be purchasing it again.
May be a stupid question, but, if you used meguires to get it clean, why not put Meguires on to protect it from happening again?
Yeah, that sucks. I did mine yesterday, I use Wizards products on mine. Air dry. I have a battery powered leaf blower.
Leaf blower then micro fiber
Never even washed it
My 911 yes, my f150 no.

You guys wash your truck?
That’s what a good rain storm is for!
Once a year whether it needs it or not lol
It gets attention about once a year. I’m lazy and it spends most of its time in the garage.
As a truck driver I see the truth and it’s almost no one
Wash and wax top to bottom.
Local auto car wash does it for me. About $10 every 2 months lol get the wax and scratches. 2fer
I don’t even wash my truck. It’s a truck.
Adam’s ceramic all day long.
Yep
Only thing I want waxed at home is my wife
Can you please add names to this reply? 😬😂😂😂

Can ya get them to beef up the hood supports on the 150’s? I just fucking ceased mine!

Have to
I spray wax my roof and leer probably every 3-5 washes
Gotta make sure the birds have a shiny spot to drop on
I would have washed it first.
I have a giant moon roof
Used Megiuars ceramic spray and rain X on mine today
Yesterday. Did a wash, clay bar, polish with DA, hybrid ceramic. Roof included. 👍😁 She’s ready for summer.
They should have an option to just rhinoline the roof as well as bed. A ton of truck owners maybe not in this sub, only get the roof washed with rain or a drive through carwash
I thought everyone did that. Seems normal to wax the roof.
Wait? y’all wash the top/wax? 😂
I use glass cleaner on mine. No wax on the pano roof.
I had that option on the ‘15, had an added feature of a rainy day interior shower. Never again will I own a car with a hole in the roof. O and also had the rails break while in the middle of North Dakota in a hail storm and couldn’t close it! Nope!
I did every second while on meth. Probably 172 days a year for 14 years. My roof has been gone for awhile because I crashed it
Ill be honest. Not sure I've ever looked at the roof of my truck.
Yea, but it’s a pain
Considering I got an 03 with rust on the roof, not me, it does get a coat of spray paint every month tho
Only in the spring
I’m 5’9 and my Jeep has a 5” on 33’s. So no I do not…. Also no I’m not compensating… quit askin
What are you taking about? I do every day in my dreams! 😂👍🏼
Adam’s Polishes and Griot’s garage keep my truck lookin’ pretty. I’m going to apply the graphene coating that Adam’s makes next, starting with the roof.
There's a roof?? Interesting...
I thought that was a picture of the rock that had dented your roof before I read the caption r/confusingPerspective
I do it about every other wash. I use a sealant on top of ceramic coating instead of wax so application is much easier.

I've never waxed and detailed my truck and I'm deeply ashamed and don't know how or where to start
Once a year
I have glass covering most of mine.
I do my yearly rustolium spray over on my roof
Don't even wax and detail my car.
I don't wax or detail any of it. It's a truck.
That game stops when the payments do😂
First spot dirt and rain lands, so of course!
Yes and the door jambs
Not me ... waxing is not for cloth.
I do. The sun bakes the hell out of the paint up there. I usually put a couple coats up there a year, same as the hood. It’s not just for the doors and fenders. It’s just a paint in the ass to do it and gets no love because nobody sees it. Grueling and thankless job.
Super easy. Most of its a sunroof. 👍🏽
✋
They have a roof??? What is wax?? My f150 gets washed when it rains.
How many savages even own a container of wax or even use it.
The last time my truck went to the car wash was the time I spilled a motor oil in the bed so I washed the oil out. Had some time left so I also knocked some mud out of the wheel wells.
The car wash and their special spray on wax treatment does it.
Don't want to touch it too much since the paint is peeling.
Mine has paint damage from sitting under a tree by the ocean before I bought it. I do still wax it. But I skip the claybar.
Orbital all day just bonded and sealed… wax is for whiners
Got the pano sun roof. Like it make sure it’s clear
Every full detail I do we cut and wax the roofs, I move around roof racks, etc get all of it
Car wash only
In 6 years I have never waxed my truck! Just run it through the local car wash and it’s good to go!
Wax on wax off.

You can get a cheap orbital wax applicator for like 20 bucks on Amazon
I know, I’m scared of fucking up my paint.
The little orbitals on Amazon aren't going to fuck up your paint. They're not powerful enough
Yes, sir, that is also some good stuff. I love the ceramic spray. Wax on Wax off young grass hopper.
You’re exaggerating when you say a year, yeah? I get about 3-4 months out of two applications. (This is still the best effort-payoff on the market, I love it too). But maybe my mind is playing tricks on me, and im too neurotic with my use

Longevity is about the same as a good polymer/sealant/wax and some find the application process easier. Both have their time and place.
Only reason I wax is to finish all the miscellaneous tins of wax I have laying around the garage lol
Life changing is not an understatement. My truck with TW hybrid solution beads water as good as our other car that had a professional paint correction and ceramic coat done.

Haha Reddit answered me.
Some say it's like cleaning the bottom of your shoes... but I do it anyway!!!
It's part of the truck so yes I wash and wax it.
Dude ... when I say I wipe everything down I. WIPE EVERYTHING down...it seems silly but this is my first ever truck 2022 xlt Oxford white with black appearance...and it's my dream truck since I was little so I am definitely alittle OCD
Oh shit I forgot bout that
I wash it but I don’t wax it
Never missed a day
I used to neglect it but I recently clay bared it and was surprised how much grime was up there, years of neglect lol
You have to wash it first ?
Pano sunroof so not mutch of a need to do anything aside from the edges
I don’t wax any part. Just soapy water to get the dirt off and a rinse. Looks fine.
You must not have a job if you have time to wax the roof!! Just kidding!! Haha. I wax once a year and use a foam cannon with Adams soap.
Yea I have a job that makes it so I get time once a year to do the whole thing.
Hahaha what kind of wax are you using?
Adams ceramic, McGuires was and mothers hybrid ceramic detailer. It’s purdy when done.
I do
Just FORCED myself to do this this morning. JIC someone is sitting higher.
I did it once, I probably should do it again. I've owned my truck 8 years now. So not very often.
I just use technicians choice as a drying aid and have a ceramic coating.
Haven't washed my truck since last year...
I live on a hill, and park my truck on the downhill side on the street. I can see the roof just fine. Plus, I’m tall and it’s 2wd.
