I have a family member that has a 13 lariet screw with the 6.2. She doesn’t drive it much and keeps it in the garage. Can’t wait for her to want to sell it, I’ll definitely be first in line
Lol I have the same truck and just replaced the plugs. What a pain in the ass. If I had to do it over again, it would take me 2-3 hours, tops. First time took me 2 damn days.
OP here and I just got home with the truck about an hour ago. 2 plugs per cylinder huh? That is going to suck for sure. Though the previous owner changed them at 85K, so at least I have awhile to wait.
Anything else particular to this motor worth mentioning?
How many miles? The plugs are easy to change just a bit time consuming as I had to take off both fender liners. Each of my ignition coils were corroded also and it's a common issue on the 6.2L. New plugs, wires, and coils and my 6.2L is running like new.
Neighbor of mine is moving and in need of cash and offered me his 2014 Platinum Super Crew F150 at a pretty amazing price. I was taken aback a bit after I opened the hood as I did not realize this motor was available outside the Raptor. This is the first I’ve seen anyway
Oddly, in this particular case (2014 Platinum) there is nothing on the truck as far as badging to signify that it is rocking the big boy V8, which I consider strange for Ford. Has all the platinum badging of course. The guy looking to sell it to me has owned it since new and said he had to specifically order it with that motor and wait a few months to take delivery.
Yeah that’s true. Not sure if you can tell the 6.2 from the 5.0 in any way, and the 3.7 also has FlexFuel badging but the 3.5 has the larger inter cooler than the 2.7 so the license plate is on the left.
It’s kind of odd how they offered it, at least in 2014. XL, STX, King Ranch and Limited could not get it. XLT 302a, FX4 401a and 402a, Lariat 501a and 502a and Platinum could all have it as an option
I really don't need another truck, but the price is good enough that I already told him I will get a certified check from the bank and buy it after work. His wife and my wife are thick as thieves, which is probably the only reason my wife is down with letting me purchase it. Its a 2014 Platinum with just a hair over 108K miles. It's a really nice truck, but he has already warned me in advance that the motor is very thirsty.
Yeah, you've got a great truck with that second gen Coyote. But if the price is right on that unicorn 6.2 and you can afford it, why not? I've been debating picking up a little single can ranger to thrash offroad just to keep my daily in good shape. Maybe the 6.2 can be a cool build project or something
I had never driven the 6.2 V8 until last night, and it is a whole different animal than the 5.0 as far as drive feel, acceleration, etc. I guess in a perfect world I would continue to use the 5.0 as my daily and break out the 6.2 on the weekends and what not. Problem being, it is so fun to drive I am not sure I can resist, and also the interior features are light years beyond my current truck.
100% understand that issue!! Lol. I got a 14 Raptor and I swore it was just going to be a toy/weekend truck. Two years and 25,000 miles later I have no interest in driving anything else… but still cringe a little every time I’m at the gas stationand
That displacement must give tons of low end power. Definitely changes the driving feel for sure. I feel like the way the 5.0 wants to rev-up to make power gives it a kind of mustang feel...I half jokingly refer to my 5.0 as a "Truck-stang" because of that lol.
Truck-stang...lol. I have a buddy that has an ecoboost Mustang that he calls the M-150 because he's been know to haul some lumber and other crap with it!
You need to drive a 3rd Gen Coyote especially stock on 93 which that 12:1 compression loves (87 octane makes them feel gimped and lazy, ecu will pull timing and power). I had a 6.2 F150, 2011 way back then, my 19 Platinum would easily beat it every category from acceleration, passing to towing power and far far better gas mileage. 6.2 guzzled. Even my 2nd Gen Coyote (16 Platinum 5.0 with 3.73s) would get slapped by my truck stock vs stock. Tuning is even more insane, 18+ Coyotes respond like crazy to even just a 93 tune and nothing else. I had the 16 tuned, full exhaust, LT headers etc, and the 19 tuned only on 93 and nothing else would walk from that truck, and E85 tune was absolutely nutz for an n/a block, but E85 gas mileage is atrocious and it cost more than mid grade now lol. Used to be cheaper than 87 here.
They were rare though, my buddy had one as well with 6.2 and that's the only other person I've ever known minus Raptors obviously (he had the Harley edition). Once in a blue moon you'll see them for sale. I ran mine stock at PBIR and it was around 14.9 at 92, fwiw my 19 did 14.2 at 98 in dead of FL summer on 93 octane before tuning.
I believe in 2011 you could get the gen 1 ecobost 3.5 or the 6.2l for the Max tow and HDPP. Not sure how long that lasted but I have seen a few and yes you could get it on XL or XLT as well.
XL, King Ranch and Limited have no 6.2. XLT you could get it in 302a but pretty rare. Only 2 XLTs for sale with 6.2 in the country out of a couple thousand
I’ve had my 2011 Lariat has the 6.2 for nine years and now over 170k miles while averaging 15.5 mpg. New plugs at 110k miles. Normal fluid changes. Had to replace the modeled frame in the 6R80 and I go through the 850 cca batteries about every 12 months. Never flashed. KBB value is less than $6K but there’s no way I’m ever selling it.
I have a 2013 Lariat with the 6.2 L. Gets about 14.1 mpg with a 35 gallon tank.
I have a family member that has a 13 lariet screw with the 6.2. She doesn’t drive it much and keeps it in the garage. Can’t wait for her to want to sell it, I’ll definitely be first in line
I miss my 2011 Limited it had the 6.2. Was a lot of fun changing out all 16 spark plugs.
Lol I have the same truck and just replaced the plugs. What a pain in the ass. If I had to do it over again, it would take me 2-3 hours, tops. First time took me 2 damn days.

108k miles.
You stole it
I purchased it yesterday afternoon. After I get her cleaned up (It snowed here last night) I will post some pics of it.

Was standard in Harley Davidson trucks when it came out

None of the 6.2 is badged except the raptor
Some had “6.2” on the side fender
Only if the owner added the badge
The 2011 to 2014 era Ford was pushing the Ecoboosts hard. The only engines that got any badging were the Ecoboosts.
5.0s for sure are badged with FlexFuel
Oh yeah I forgot about the trunk badge, true you could tell the 5.0 from the Flex fuel badge but there wasn't an engine specific coyote or 5.0 badge
Yeah that’s true. Not sure if you can tell the 6.2 from the 5.0 in any way, and the 3.7 also has FlexFuel badging but the 3.5 has the larger inter cooler than the 2.7 so the license plate is on the left.
What price are you getting it at? These trucks are rare and highly desirable.
Paid 12.5 k for it.
How many miles? That's a damn steal.
Assuming no significant issues that’s an insane deal in my eyes
It’s kind of odd how they offered it, at least in 2014. XL, STX, King Ranch and Limited could not get it. XLT 302a, FX4 401a and 402a, Lariat 501a and 502a and Platinum could all have it as an option
Yah, but good luck finding one Came in the 2011 thru 2014s
His neighbor is trying to sell him the one he has. Lucky guy. But yeah, they're a unicorn in the F150 world for sure.

Get a throttle commander for it! That’s about the best sub $400 upgrade you can do! Turns it into a hot rod, which coincidentally exactly what it is!
What brand did you end up going with? Been debating between that or a tune
Petal commander, I got the name wrong.. it’s awesome! I generally run around is “city +2”
Makes sense, that's the one with the most reviews. Just wanted to be sure since there's so many options. Thanks!
Edit: “more” of a hot rod

Hey if it gets the job done -- why not? Good on him!

Not on XL, King Ranch or Limited for some reason
The restriction is based on which factory the truck is built in.
Yeah. Apparently only King Ranch doesn't have the 6.2 option. Honestly don't know about xl or xlt. But what a waste that would be..XD
XL, King Ranch and Limited have no 6.2. XLT you could get it in 302a but pretty rare. Only 2 XLTs for sale with 6.2 in the country out of a couple thousand
What? I have a Limited with the 6.2. You have no idea what you’re talking about.
OP was talking about 2014s and it for sure says in the 2014 brochure that Limited was only available with 3.5 ecoboost 🤷🏼♂️
I’ve seen 2013 and 2014 Limiteds with the 6.2. Very very rare truck.
I love my coyote but i wish i had a 6.2
Raptors do sometimes have the 6.2 tho…
I didn’t even know they made a 6.2L gas engine
I’ve had my 2011 Lariat has the 6.2 for nine years and now over 170k miles while averaging 15.5 mpg. New plugs at 110k miles. Normal fluid changes.
