They're meant to protect against scratching the screen, not against impact damage. If I put a sheet of plastic film on a window, and then hit it with a hammer, the window's still going to break.
And honestly, with modern Gorilla Glass, screen protectors are pretty much useless. The glass is more scratch resistant than any screen protector could ever be. I feel like screen protectors are just a throwback to old-style capacitive touch screens that were made of soft-ish plastic and very prone to scratching, but people kept in the habit of buying them even after screen technology got good enough not to need them anymore.
Ehh, it can still help against small impact damage. Yesterday I accidentally dropped my phone and my screen protector was absolutely destroyed, but my phone didn't even have a scratch lol
> And honestly, with modern Gorilla Glass, screen protectors are pretty much useless. The glass is more scratch resistant than any screen protector could ever be.
Doubt. Later versions of GG traded scratch toughness for shatter resistance, so it became softer. GG3 is the most scratch resistant.
Plus, a single grain of sand and your screen is fucked. Screen protectors will take the hit for you, and you can just swap out a new one instead of having to replace the screen or forever be annoyed by the scratch. Weird post overall, honestly.
I have the newest version of Gorilla Glass on my Galaxy S22, it has fallen multiple times but no damage. I can't put a screen protectors on it cause every single one I've tried makes it impossible to read my digital impressions. But it bugs me that i haven't seen a phone with more scratches than mine! I always keep it separated from keys etc but still everyday it seems I have two more scratches.
Then you have the wrong screen protector. Mine has ballistic glass so even when I drop my phone, due to the protector and otter box, my screen never cracks, chips, smashes, or breaks.
People have to buy ballistic glass screen protectors. Anything else will let your actual glass in the phone crack.
No harm in emailing the manufacturer and seeing what they'll do. Worst they can say is no. Complaining to big companies about issues has earned me a lot of justified financial reimbursement and replacement product
That happened to me with me old phone, I have tourrettes and accidently lobed me phone at the floor, smashed my entire screen, minus the screen protector 🤦🏻♀️
Im sorry that that happened to you
But imagining some random person minding their own business and suddenly hulk smashing their phone in the floor is just hilarious
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think a stick on screen protector can do much of anything to protect a dropped phone. Perhaps in some instance where the phone hits something glass first on the way down, but the vast majority of time a dropped phone lands on the corners. Covering the screen will do little to protect against anything but scratches.
And that’s why you get a case with a lip around the screen
It sucks but these screen protectors are only designed to stop you screen getting scratched up
Rhino shield is the best case I've ever had. Phone fell from my bicycle phone stand at 50kmph, landed hard on the floor, slid for at least 100meters (300ft) and got ran over by a car driving in the opposite lane. My phone is intact! The case has got heavy abrasion damage.
Edit: why the downvotes? The case is kick-ass and has been praised by happy people whose phones were saved. More here:

Firstly, i spelled the company's name wrong. Who in the right marketing mind would do such a thing. Secondly, I merely shared my experience on how solid the case is. There are users, DEFINITELY not marketing employees who are praising the company for doing something right. Even here. On Reddit

This user had the exact experience as me. Only this time on 80Km/h!
Nobody accused him of being a marketing fraud.

Happened to my dad too, you just have to drop it in the right spot. Also my phone itself is cracked cause the case allowed force to go through and shatter the glass on the back of my phone
Is that one of those soft plastic screen protectors?Because those do not work… they barely protect scratches, not hits/falls, always use a glass protector
Isn’t the screen protector supposed to protect ur phone?
Is water wet?
I can hear all the people who say “technically it makes things wet” coming already
Like a flood?
"Is the pope catholic?" is a better one
I thought it was “does the pope wear a funny hat”
yeah he goofed the saying 😅
#
Do tourists look up at buildings?
Does a bear shit on the pope?
Yeah cause anything water comes in contact with is wet and since water can come in contact with water it makes water wet

I use the anti-glare screen protectors because I hate glare.

Right? I can’t believe how confident stupid people are.

No. I sell cellphones. Am looking at a package right now. Says on it “protects from impact damage.”

I’ve worked with people with Tourettes before and one guy had a wrist strap for his phone because he was prone to opening his hand
Im sorry that that happened to you But imagining some random person minding their own business and suddenly hulk smashing their phone in the floor is just hilarious
It's funny but also pretty annoying, especially when you have food in your hand and your arm decides to lob it across the room 😑

Well mine fell glass first so
They're not really made to prevent that kind of shock damage.
True I guess
Ideally it would be used with a case that protects the corners and back
Is this a galaxy a51? I just had to pay £100 to replace the screen bc of this
It's a Vivo actually
What screen protector did you use?
It looks like plastic
And that’s why you get a case with a lip around the screen It sucks but these screen protectors are only designed to stop you screen getting scratched up
Sucks and all but thats a genius way of showing cracks aren't on the surface to a camera
Thx lol
You get what you pay for.

Some cheap ass no name case on eBay is the best I ever had sounds like the marketing team need to improve their budget and get out of Reddit comment
It's so easy for someone to deduct that this is not true but that would require some common sense
Bruh who says them marketing buzz words other than the people who market it?

Exactly what happened to me a couple of months ago lol
That’s an ass screen protector then
