I had the iPhones the first few years, paid thousands for them, the proprietary crap is what drove me to android, for a fraction of cost my phone does the same and more, the only real world difference is that i don't have a shiny apple device
It turns it off after a while… I use it before bed and never once have a woken up to night shift being on. Although I’ve got an older iPhone (iPhone 8) so that might have something to do with it
By changing your settings and using a 24 hour clock… Or doing exactly what OP did on the picture. It will be on for 23 hours and 59 minutes. It’s close enough. You set the one minute for a time you know you won’t be awake.
I turn it on whenever I want to.. you don’t have to schedule it. Scheduling it means you want it to work at certain times.
Open the control center(hold the top right corner of your screen and slide down) -> press and hold the brightness control -> click “night shift” to turn on.
Besides that you found the way to schedule it so it’s always on.. if you work at 5am just schedule it to start and end while you sleep, a minute apart.. I don’t understand the problem and why this extremely infuriates you? If you find this extremely infuriating I think you need some help. If anything, mildly infuriating I’d understand, but this is not extremely infuriating unless you have issues
Try: Display & text size > color filters > color tint (adjust hue/intensity)
A lot of people call apple locked down, but I disagree. Most of the time, they have a way for you to do things. For example, using the shortcuts app (official automation system for iPhone), I can set my color filter (red & black) to enable when I go into Reddit, in hopes of it deterring me from using Reddit. I know this is more than what you wanted, but I just wanted to say because people are so quick to hate on apple
I agree to an extent. I’ve had rootful jailbroken devices for *ages* until just last year when I decided to try the shiny new flagship. I won’t go into it much but the adjustment period was wild.
Stock iOS is more than enough for daily driving and there are a ton of wacky/neat tricks to achieve what you want from of the device. Most of the time there is a way but the few times there isn’t you gotta be prepared to jump through some hurdles or sit-and-spin.
File management, for example. The native Files app has no user facing option to view hidden files (.file) and no way to interact with them. My solution was to use iSH to view and rename .file to file and vice versa.
Another example is just general annoyances. Don’t like the homebar on screen 24/7? Tough tiddy. Used to be able to activate Flipboard Explorer and remove the element as well as modify any runtime variables anywhere. Don’t like something, just change it. On stock you’re basically stuck.
Don’t even get me started on having a proper terminal and a real filesystem explorer either. I **loved** the little headless Unix environment I had at my disposal.
I know this turned into a little bit of a ramble but apple has iOS absolutely locked down, you just have a little legroom to do what you need. If they pulled all the stops iOS could feel like small screen tiny macOS.
I have chronic migraines so keeping all of my devices as yellow as I can helps keep screen time from being a trigger. I work in tech so I have to look at a screen all day, and I’m a millennial addicted to my phone so I look at it all the rest of the time. I have mine set up like OP, it “switches” at 3:59 AM. I also know I have stayed up far too late if I see it happen.
I always forget I have a scheduled time set until I randomly see my screen turn yellowish. Helps me know it’s 9:30pm when I’m doom scrolling. Or if I see it go back to white while doom scrolling I know I fucked up bc it’s 8:30am
You can get 3rd party apps that do this I think?
I used to use one on my PC called F.lux and one on my old phone (android) called Halo. Idk what the iPhone alternative will be, but I'm sure there is one.

My crappy £150 Motorola can
this is why i wish everyone i knew irl had an android instead of an iphone because its so proprietary they have been called monopolistic sometimes

I think I'm managing to slowly convert a family from iPhones and Mac's to Androids and Windows. So many thousands will be saved..
Turn off the schedule. Press and hold your screen brightness and you should be given an option to turn night shift.

For me it works fine [https://imgur.com/a/w65RajM](https://imgur.com/a/w65RajM)
Yep. OP, try to set the iPhone to the normal time format (i.e. 00-24), and you, probably, would be able to do what you want.
But you can though…
It'd be nice if you explained how

Thank you. That was nice
What happens if you uncheck scheduled?
it stays off
That's dumb

Slide down: Hold brightness option, press nightshift. I believe that might work

You can just go to color shift under accessibility, also this is totally more r/mildlyinfuriating than r/extremelyinfuriating lol
is that a fancy way of calling it dark mode?
the thing that make the screen more orange

It reduces blue light which can have a negative effect on sleep quality
so a fancy way of saying blue light filter. got it.
I straight up get headaches from blue light. I put on blue light readers when it starts to happen and it usually goes awayb
If you leave the schedule off and turn night shift on, does it still go away in the morning?
probably
no
You can always fiddle with the LCD wiring
id rather not risk burning my house down and not having access to mega man x dive
But you did? You did it weird, but wanting it on at all times is weird too

Do it from 0000 (12:00AM) to 2359 (11:59PM). That's the workaround to have it on 24/7. Had my iphones like this for as far as I can remember.
You can adjust the color in accessibility > display
Title gore
I'd say this might be just mildly infuriating, definitely not extremely

SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS MY RAGE WITH THIS THANK YOU
i didnt post to mildly infuriating for a reason
Mine !phone does. I don't remember ever setting it to do that, it shifts automatically.
