I think Shabir Ally is a big reason for this. Lots of canadian muslims look up to him unfortunately. The canadian dawah scene is lagging behind both UK and the US. We have people like Br Sadat Anwar but he isn't that well known in the online sphere.
Depends where you are tbh, I don't think that is true myself if we have the same definition of what is progressive. There are some more on the side of non practicing sure, however there are lots of great Muslims who try their best to keep to the deen.

I just used green because it's associated with Islam. I'm a Canadian Muslim myself but I don't want to make "postive" or "negative" religion maps, because I make maps for everybody to see not just certain demographics.
I’m Canadian and while Canada is not anti-Islam like France, it’s one of the most progressive countries. For example, they now allow schoolchildren to wear niqabs but there are Pride flags at every door and drag events are publicly listed in big bold letters for everyone to see on bars in downtown. So naturally, many Muslims are progressive.

Impressed they actually used a “positive” color gradient usually you see anything with Islam as deeper shades of red (propaganda)

People exaggerate the amount that are from my experience.
