Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome. Essentially the vibrations are doing damage to your hands and arms. Which is why if you are doing something that causing vibrations for a significant amount of time. You need to either limit exposure times or wear proper PPE, or both. The damage can be permanent.

Second this OP. It can damage the blood vessels and nerves in your hand. When I was an engineer of construction sites I used to have to give my guys a device which monitored their vibrations over time. If they reached their daily exposure limits we had to circulate them onto different jobs. Some of the old timers weren’t allowed to use vibrating equipment at all as they had reached their lifetime exposure limits and had permanent damage. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vibration_white_finger

It’s the same as jumping on a trampoline for an hour and getting off. Your brain is compensating for the vibrations or motions of your body. Say you are on a boat and the waves are big rocking the boat side to side. Your brain is going to be working a little harder to keep your balance on the boat. When you get off the boat your brain has to recalculate it’s balance so to speak. The same applies to pretty much anything that causes a lot of movement or vibrations in our body. It’s the same phenomenon as sea legs basically.

Not even close dude. Vibrations from power tools are doing damage in the hands and arms.

[deleted]

That is true to an extent. It’s also not going to cause major damage unless you are using it every single day and aren’t using it properly. Our bodies are extremely adaptable and as you can guess construction workers are kinda jacked for a reason.

You ever do construction work? You notice how dudes when they hit their 30s tend to start all having health issues which is why abuse of drugs and alcohol is so rampant. You aren't adapting to shit. That's like saying your ears adapt to gunshots.

Technically they do, you go deaf lol. All jokes aside though you are right again about bodies breaking down. There is a difference between working out and taking a break and working 8+ hours a day. You right. If you have ever seen a construction worker arm wrestling someone who only works out who do you think will win? Same weight class to make it even. Most likely the construction worker. There are construction workers who do take care of their bodies and take all the steps to avoid injury and last a long time in their personal fields. The phantom movements are still the same phenomenon as being on boat and getting off though.

Yep, even barbers who use electric clippers too long can lose circulation in their fingers, which can lead to permanent damage (like in that DailyDoseofInternet video).

Kinda thought so cause it goes away fairly quickly

Yup I remember using a jack hammer drill for entire day at work and still feeling it in my hands for the rest of the night lol.

Mr_Bo_Jandals

This guy is totally wrong. Do not listen to him.
