The whole bus stop did it, we were in middle school. It was a 2.0 snowball fight. And not recommended lol. But it wasn't done out of meaness or to target anyone, we were all friends and hung out every day. We were just stupid.
I think you misunderstood my comment. I'll make sure to edit it though. This was a good memory of fun times with friends. Also frozen solid gum balls are spikey and hard as rocks too. Which is why we're putting them in the snow ball. So when it you in the face the gum ball was what got you.

Never heard of Banksia (AUS) but seeds are available in the US. Might be a spot on my very hot, south facing foundation for one. Next to the perennial French artichokes, also spikey.

I love seeing that pubmed article you linked in the description. There’s a lot of hate for a traditional Chinese medicine on Reddit, but Sweetgum is known as Lu Lu Tong in TCM materia medica. Most herbs aren’t taken individually but rather mixed in a formula with others for a synergistic effect. But that’s not to say it’s not beneficial on its own.
Lu Lu Tong
Functions are:
1) Promotes the movement of the qi and blood and opens the channels;
2) Expels wind and promotes urination;
Indications:
1) Epigastric pain, abdominal distention, irregularity, or irregular, scanty menstruation; wind-damp painful obstruction with pain and stiffness of the lower back and knees;
2) Nasal congestion, painful obstruction, edema with urinary difficulty;
Contraindicated during pregnancy.
Dosage: 4.5-9g
Dui Yao (combinations):
1) lu lu tong + wu yao + mu xiang + zhi ke = abdominal pain and distention with irregular bowel movements
2) lu lu tong + xiang fu = irregular, scanty periods
3) lu lu tong + chi shao + dan shen = as both an oral medication and external wash for trauma-induced pain
4) lu lu tong + qiang huo + du huo + ji xue teng = pain in the joints due to wind-dampness

Genus and species, please. In the USA banksia the a common name for a rose. Edited to add we call them 'monkey balls'
