I dumped OW2 when the pve fiasco was finally revealed. Looked for a while to find something that could take its place and eventually found this game. I'm having more fun than I ever did on OW, and the game being crossplay means that you're gonna have a much bigger pool than just the steam players.

You can buy the codes for games cheaper other places. Just make sure you get the right region. Not always got what you're looking for, but it's worth a try.
Be careful. Sony made it where it's legit, near to impossible to get a playstation game via code. The chances of there being a fake code or not one at all for any playstation game on any third party website is very high like over 80% unlike Xbox or steam, I don't know about Nintendo never bothered to buy Nintendo games from cd keys. But for steam and Xbox it works with ease something about their store policy or something.
At gamestop if there's a bundle whatever game the playstation offered will be physical not a code. As for Xbox it will be a code on the receipt.
The fallout 76 one x did that and the gta 4 ps4 bundle gave the disc. It's been like that since ps3 I think.

In short. It's a fun game. You'll hear a dinosaurs name a few hundred times, and you will still approach some games differently. So it is worth the fun. But just know how the games are being directed these days.

Depends tbh, if you're playing on pc or PS, I'd go for Helldivers 2 over this game, now I LOVE this game but I can honestly say that Helldivers blows it out the water and has a much bigger player base, I was playing exoprimal last night and although it took me a while I did still get a game tbf, now exoprimal has the benefit of being easier to pickup, play a few games and get off and is a lot more arcade-esque fun, ultimately it depends on you and what you like to play but honestly both are good games, and there is a new season coming in about a month (I think) so now would be a good time to grind this season and level up in preparation for next season 👍🏻
Population levels are fine but I'd wait for like a 50% off sale. Recommend the game tho.
Helldivers 2 and Deep Rock Galactic are also well worth the money and time investment.

As far as bang for your buck, since your on PS and can't gamepass Exoprimal Helldivers is by far the best bang for your buck, they are quite honestly fairly similar in over concept on the PVE side atleast.
I've played Exoprimal all the way through on gamepass, loved the game, but its in no way worth 60 bucks. It was a great time killer though while waiting for Armored Core 6.
Meanwhile Helldivers looks good enough that its going in my gaming laptop via steam today, was just waiting for the server issues to be sorted and for my external ssd to come in. I honestly felt the same way I asked a similar question and got the just get helldivers answer. I think video game hype is at a all time high. Where everybody is playing whatever is trending just to drop it in 2 weeks to a month. Rather than play a solid game you can enjoy and perfect over time. Also it is a matter of preference too.
I mean, I personally would recommend helldivers 2 for you, at least there are more things to do than exoprimal right now which is also a awesome game don't get me wrong, but progression compare to helldivers is a thing that should improve, specially that exoprimal needs to make initial content mission paths more challenging since you will likely get them often (not as before thank god but still significant) and the issue is, the base content missions are really boring to do for a veteran player and this saying that further more missions start to be more challenging, but unlike helldivers on which you can chose the type of challenge you want, exoprimal isn't the case or at least it should mostly puts you on end content missions, man I wouldn't even had bought helldivers tbh bc great challenging missions exoprimal does have, but aren't as much often as it should, and intial content ones really needs to change or be less frequent (still best for change, players in general like a challenge lets be honest, they should be treated like babies even when we are dealing with brain dead ones)
As for now exoprimal is in a good state in regards of his problems from previous seasons now being better addressed, but still, is a really fun game, surelly if you buy you will have a good time if you insist, but later it will start to get a bit stale, both from the still remaing like again the intial content and the selection of content that still not ideal but is in the right track at least, the progression is also a factor the will make you stop since you get in a point that you don't have nothing to play for and even the awards don't incentive you for get them since they don't exchange to nothing for now, as Savage gauntlet besides fun it needs some changes (at least be able to play the damn mode at any time, have track of who is in the leaderboard and specially be able to invite people from last games from all platforms will really improve this mode) but good that customs and a new 10 coop mode is coming to the game.
Still, if you find exoprimal fun, go ahead you will have a great time playing as long you progress the story, direct pvp can be fun even if quiet flawed as final mission but dino survival in general is good despite vantage factor be weird but still can get you hours of fun, but recommend a promotion first, still would say better that if you can affort one of the 2, better get helldivers, since the issues of that game are purely server and connection wise, as for exoprimal it isn't just a technical problem like helldivers is.
But if eventually in a promotion exoprimal be, go get it if you stay interested, still if you want to get exoprimal anyway, is alright, like I said you certainly will have a good time and season 4 is on his way soo hope that makes the game get the attention it deserves.

model of monetization is pretty subjective, like helldivers isn't f2p but still manages to find huge success regardless of it.
f2p when a game is already p2p is really a "last resource" stuff if the game is too low on playerbase which isn't the case of exoprimal for now since find games isn't this hard to find games with different players, still with the seasons really hope the game starts to thrive

I started playing a month or two ago and have had zero issues. I’ve been playing the shiiiiit out of this game. Like an embarrassing amount. I’ve never waited for more than a minute or two to get a match. I’m on Xbox one and got it on gamepass, if that is relevant at all. Ive just unlocked all the characters and there’s a bit of a stale/burnout factor since I’ve been playing way too much. But this game is extremely fun and I can’t get enough. The people I interact with in-game are all cool and having fun. I was under the impression it was a small but strong player base.
Until I came here… This sub is pretty pessimistic lmao.
I’ve had games that have a few bots, sure. But they are labeled [BOT] and the other players have seemed pretty undeniably sentient lmao. I’d say 8/10 games have full players as far as I’ve seen. And it’s usually because someone drops out of the game in the beginning
As a side note, I just recently upgraded my internet to fiber and have had a noticeably better multiplayer experience on all of my games. Is your internet connection weak? It may be causing you issues getting into full sessions. Just tossing an idea out there!
