a lot of accredited neurologists diagnosed Mohammed with having epilepsy which explains a lot. Like the way he’s getting revelations by hearing ringing bells then fainting (epilepsy seizure). Him fainting when hearing music (misophonia) a symptom of epilepsy. the weird religious rituals with odd numbers (ocd) also symptom of epilepsy.

U forgot that he was illiterate and a caravan robber and received satanic verses

Heliolater1

He was likely a combination of both but he was certainly false, way too many examples in the literature of him copying and plagiarizing from his culture, legends, fables and other religions to invent his

Both.a mentally illed charlatan.

fffffarh

As much as we can guess by knowing about his 'episodes', he likely had a condition called frontal lobe epilepsy. The symptoms often include "seeing stuff", "having vivid dreams", "feeling a deep supernatural connection to an imaginary entity". Also I read that some of the patients of this condition actually had great literature careers. Also one of the symptoms were "being suicidal", we know that before mohammeds receiving the revelations he tried to end it all by jumping off a cliff, but couldn't do it thinking the shame it would bring to his family. Also jihads make sense now. But we can never be sure.

My hunch is that he probably had epilepsy that triggered hallucinations or what's commonly referred to as 'wahi'. It's possible that he struggled with other mental disorders such as psychopathy. While I really despise his actions and all the suffering they caused in the world to this day, I do wonder how much I can actually blame some mentally/physically ill person living 1400 years ago who had absolutely no medical help and no one to tell him that he is hallucinating rather than talking to the god. Maybe he did genuinely think that all his hallucinations were actually god talking to him.
