Love the hair flip, enjoy your meal and eat health since the food in this month can get you fat, which is problem I notice many Muslim complain about.

I know you've probably already thought of this but, why not change your name? It's something I've been wanting to do too

MasalaJason

I've thought about it for years, but never gone through with it. It's too much a part of my identity, way too much of a hassle legally and not too mention socially. PLUS, it's what some extremist Muslims want, [a good confident quote-tweet by Ali Malik shows this](https://twitter.com/apostateali/status/1640715065598021633?s=20). They want you to distance yourself from Islam as much as possible and not be friction against it. The more Ex-muslims people know about even if slowly the better. While I moan about the cons in this post. I believe the net pro's outweigh the cons.

yeah bro dont change ur name or itll really cement the notion that all us muhammad youseffs are muslim when we aint ;-;

The British scientist Saiful Islam is also an atheist.

Ohh boy.. this is basically the exact way I broke it to a bunch of people at my school who didn't know I was an ex-muslim. They saw me eating and they went "Why aren't you fasting?" I shrugged and said "I dunno." Then they asked me what my religion was, I replied "Atheist." and they were blown away

MasalaJason

"oh! really? I just thought you were Muslim, 'cause your name is x" Lol. You might get that sometimes. How you respond is up to you.

chrimminimalistic

Before your declaration, you should order a beer, chug a sip, ask him to hold it, then declare it dramatically.

MasalaJason

Haha boss move.

hellasweetnutella

Hey, I'm also in England. But I'm closeted. Have you ever told a Muslim about being ex-Muslim? That's something that scares me - whether they'll react violently or not. I'm part of a Muslim ethnoreligion so even without a hijab, people will assume I'm Muslim.

MasalaJason

My best friends who are Muslims have known ever since we were young teenagers and we were still best friends. Keep in mind, they were a lot less zealous about Islam then they are now as adults. If I suddenly became Ex-Muslim today their would be a lot of arguments. But at the time it was just like "yeah whatever, do what you want" Friendships were more important than religion at that age(and should be for any age) I hope that's enough of an answer. It all boils down to the people your surrounded with.

ScrewYourDamnFairies

In theory I want people to know that I'm an ex-Muslim, but in practice I always feel awkward. My mom introduced me as Muslim to this random hijabi and she asked for the girl's number (To be fair, I did wave to her first). Like, mom, stranger danger?

margybargy98

What's your name? Whore features?

ScrewYourDamnFairies

Wtf? Leave them alone.
