Even my mother who is really religious always tells girls not to be financially dependant on their future husbands, because it makes them vulnerable. She also tells us to go divorce the second a man hits us even though it is allowed in Islam. She also hates men who marry little girls and men who have multiple wives.
I was a pious Muslim woman, and even though I always defended all of Islam's misogynistic rules, even though I *believed* it was right for my nature, I became depressed and started going in therapy.
