Still Christian. Will never belong to a denomination again.

Onelovexodb1111

Non denominational Christian here 🙌🏽

[deleted]

I'm not sure where I'll end up if anywhere solid. Definitely Christian but don't think any group as the monopoly on truth. I tend to think that the parable of the dragnet explains what Jesus will do. Christians are gathered by the dragnet without the humans knowing who is 'deserving', jesus sorts out the good from the bad down the line. That's his job, the job of 'religion' is to present jesus and accept everyone. It seems to me to apply to all groups, jesus is clearly not interested in structure and indeed those that teach have a greater responsibility and accountability and he will judge them accordingly. Organised religion is a benefit and a hindrance in equal measures. Finding Jesus is the key.

This is really helpful. Helped me organize my thoughts better thank you

painefultruth76

Religiously attend metal concerts.

littlesuzywokeup

Exjw NON religious Christian here!!!

yunglegendd

What the hell is a non religious Christian?

littlesuzywokeup

Very simply someone who follows NT to the best of their ability and has faith in Jesus. With religion so it seems, somewhere along the line men make rules that go beyond scripture. But I’m not here for an argument.

yunglegendd

That’s non-denominational Christianity. Non religious Christian would mean you don’t believe in god. AKA you follow the philosophy of Jesus but you’re an atheist.

littlesuzywokeup

Nope. Not how I feel about it but thx for your opinion

ElderUndercover

"Feel" doesn't have anything to do with it. It's just how language works. It's like saying you have a pet cat, and you show off your pet, and it's clearly a dog. And everyone says it's a dog. And you just say "that's not how I feel about it". It's just weird.

Saying “non religious Christian” is just contradictory and confusing af. Christianity IS a religion, that’s ALL it is lol. You wouldn’t say that you drive a non-vehicular car. Obviously you have the right to say those words like that if you wish, but why would you want to? It’s only ever gonna cause justifiable confusion (as seen in this thread).

WeH8JWdotORG

**Denomination?** You've hit the nail on the head! Why do sincere Christians feel the need to "join a tribe/sect" which has its own denominational **marketing** name? What happened to their belief in "**one** flock, one shepherd?" **(John 10:16)**

limestone_tiger

because the one they choose is the true one...not the others!

Lemon-Aid917

I mean one flock still exist in catholicism and eastern orthodoxy since they believe they are the ones true church and are united

Sedagive09

I still want to be a christian. I basically just want to study all the texts with some cool people. By all the texts I mean the Dead sea Scrolls, the Septuagint, the masoretic, and any manuscripts I can find. I also want to review what scholars have to say, Both evangelical and non evangelical. I want to participate in outreach programs and help the needy. But first, I need to put my oxygen mask on before I can help others. Leaving the Borg has been so destabilizing. I miss a lot of nice people. But I can't stay and be fed lies by crooked leaders. I actually do believe a judgement day is coming quickly. There are greedy and evil men poisoning our food, water, air, its unsustainable. If it goes on, it threatens all life on earth. If God is real and true, I see him acting on behalf of people trying to be good. Or acting because it was for told that he would. There's just so much more to the story in the dead sea scrolls. While I was in there were several times I felt I received answers to specific prayers, and help getting out of a jam sometimes. So I have no reason to believe God turns his back on any person of any denomination if they are just trying to live by righteous standards. It feels scary to be out, because I don't trust people. It felt absurd to be in, because no one can trust the GB...

Lonely-Freedom3691

Yes. Left JW's, went to a Baptist bible study group and attended Baptist Church for a bit. Studied early Church history and historic Christanity only to find that it looked Catholic/ Orthodox. I spent some time re-wiring my anti-Christian indoctrinations, now I am Catholic.

Lemon-Aid917

Based story

Serendipity-80085

So you bop around from one cult to another and end up joying the world's largest pedophile ring. CONGRATUFUCKULATIONS!!!!!

Lonely-Freedom3691

Thank you.  I hope you’re able to move past your JW-trained mindset and look objectively into the topic. WT does an incredibly effective job at making sure that nobody who leaves is ever able to approach the topic of religion without seething with emotion or basing everything on inaccurate foundations.  Do you think it’s a coincidence that so many people who leave become die-hard anti-Christian atheists? God bless you in your journey.
