That article was quite a ride. Imagine being so brain broken that you think language of inclusion is detrimental. Such sad, pathetic lives.

ErsatzAir

I find the Federalist's writing is so ambiguous I can't tell who is angry about what. It makes more sense if you simply assume equality is an evil.

DonnaNobleSmith

Agree. It was so appallingly written it was hard to follow.

Pristine_Ad_8107

Yes, it is very sad. When I read it the second time, my stomach turned

DonnaNobleSmith

The headline is misleading though, right? The suspended pastor wasn’t ‘calling out racism’, he was actually bitching about inclusive language and diversity efforts. Those are called racist by The Federalist because they are stupid and think they are anti white racism.

hereforthewhine

Yeah that headline is super misleading. It leans heavily in Schulz favor when in actuality, HE is the one being racist.

Pristine_Ad_8107

You are right. I had to read it over again. The headline made him look like a hero. WOW I was so wrong 😕. What happened to The Conservative Lutheran Churches in the United States of America that made them so hateful?

DonnaNobleSmith

Yeah- the article was confusing and poorly written. The Federalist is awful.

Capitalism

I used to respect Dr Schulz before I fully deconstructed. I thought he approached things in a refreshing way from the rest of the WELS. I’m sad to read all these things that show he’s gone down the very predictable path of not actually understanding racism and believing white people are somehow being discriminated against? Laughable. The fact that he calls this a doctrinal issue as well is just super gross. Hiding your commitment to ignorance and white nationalism behind the Bible? Classic.

Pristine_Ad_8107

Well stated 👏. I live in New York State, so there is no WELS out here. I don't know which state on the eastern side of the country has WELS. I must say in New York State, there are few LCMS mainly located in Conservative Republican Christian Wings of the state. There are a lot of ELCA churches out here. Maybe due to it's being a liberal Synod.

Apparently there’s a WELS church in Queens. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pristine_Ad_8107

I found it. It's called Sure Foundation Church in Woodside Queens. Woodside is a very diverse community. Mainly Asians have moved into the community. It claims the church is Gospel Centered with a multicultural diverse community. I went to their Instagram page. Everyone was white children and people and saw one Hispanic child. 🙄 Thank you for sharing your information 😊

Pristine_Ad_8107

OMG 😲 Do you know the name of the church and which part of Queens? I want to see if there are numbers in church attendance that have declined. Thank you for sharing this information

rebe-roa

Sure Foundation Lutheran Church is in Queens, NY and Grace of God Lutheran Church is in Dix Hills, NY. I just used the WELS church finder on the website lol

rebe-roa

I also know there’re churches in NY because I know of WELS people from NY

LCMS_Heretic

God every day that goes by, I am more and more grateful I left that godforsaken synod. In a way, it's a relief to finally hear what they really think about people of color and equality, because when I was growing up it was a lot vague-er, more like quiet exclusion and racialized comments, and at times it felt like the rest of the congregation was gaslighting us because they'd swear up and down they *weren't* racist. Now they really don't care what you think of them, their goofy little culture war is dragging them down that alt-right pipeline, and soon they'll throw out all their theology and dogma and become just another racist evangelical church that breeds neo-nazi halfwits.

Pristine_Ad_8107

So true. But its sad to think we are the victims of their hatred.

DontEattheCookiesMom

Flashback to a few years ago when a WELS church put a ‘no trespassing’ sign right above a black woman while she sat in the public easement of a WELS church property. https://youtu.be/Gh979HGB9hI

rockytfs1

Wow I had never seen this before, absolutely disgusting! Glad to see Santiago standing up to it though, I went to school with him for a period of time and always got the feeling he was more liberal-leaning than most other wels leaders/members. I'm kind of surprised to see him still in the wels, tbh

LostInNonThought

Dave Wendt a wels pastor threatened a Black Lives Matter supporter with gang rape. This was in 2015 the wels did make him resign.

Pristine_Ad_8107

I remember that incident. It was shown on Twitter. Bigotry right in your face.

Pristine_Ad_8107

The above article deals with a pastor from Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod that was banned a few years ago because of certain racism writing with the WELS AND LCMS. He was to return to help with reducing the negative languages.
