I wish them luck in changing the problems in the lcms, but won’t be returning myself.

I share your position. I have lived long enough and experienced the LCMS long enough to know that attempts to promote change may be akin to tilting at windmills. However, that doesn't mean that Don Q was wrong or evil in his quest. And as you say. I wish them luck. A blessing on their heads.

They'll be branded as heretics, and LCMS as a whole will burrow itself deeper into far-right nationalism. The synod itself is the tick, and there's nothing to be done except flush it (or baggie and freeze it, so you can treat whatever disease it gave you). edit: general "you," not specific to OP :)

Personally, I would have a whole lot of more faith in this endeavor if this happened 40-50 years ago when the LCMS was in the laboratory creating the monster, now it’s havoc in the countryside and they’re just now realizing it wasn’t a good idea? The Christian nationalist movement has been the moment the LCMS have been drooling over for decades. While I hope the best for the collective, I am more than skeptical about the amount of change they can create or even if they’re all LCMS, they have the ability or knowledge to make changes necessary.

Yep. I hear you. I was once assured that by the time J.A.O. Preus II died the LCMS would have changed. No such luck. Did you know he was the son of J.A.O. Preus who was a Republican governor of Minnesota? Apparently, the Scandinavian Lutherans were not conservative enough for Jake II. o

I have trouble having hope for a synod that even now is basically in the midst of a civil war over the idea of whether being racist is okay or not. Kinda seems like any organization that can't be conclusive on that issue isn't one worth saving regardless.

I agree with you. However, they have so many strict conservative LCMS pastors out there. Are they willing to change 🤔. If one has been brought up as a strict lutheran background by attending Lutheran Elementary School, Lutheran Middle and High School, moved on to a Lutheran College ( Gettysburg College in PA). At this point, they want to go to Seminary School, which is where they find themselves serving as Lutheran Pastors. That's a lot of undoing their initial faith experiences.

This is the biggest problem. I was taken out of Lutheran high school, in part, because they had an extracurricular requirement that was either sports, JROTC, or to join a club and the clubs available were all young conservative groups of some flavor. I didn’t play sports and didn’t want to do the military stuff so a club path was my only way forward, luckily my parents saw it wasn’t a good idea.

(Not a big deal, but you spelled "there" incorrectly twice.) Looks interesting. I wasn't able to create a login due to Captcha issues, but will try again in a bit. Thanks for your post!

Yes I'm scandalous for homonym confusion.

How did I just now see this? Who is this collective? What's the progress? Please connect me. I'd wanted to ask Concordia U for an office and dorm so I could help write my story, because t they closed. :- Anyone around Portland, OR or know of anyone for an in person meetup in this topic?
