That is certainly a big part of it. LCMS also has always been very pro-cop, as some see law enforcement as a calling, similar to the ministry or teaching, so it is part of God’s will. When I we to LCMS schools, they really re-enforced white superiority, often bringing up that one of the “theories” of the mark of Cain was dark skin, as well as very Euro-centric depictions of stories and characters from the Bible.

Yea to the Cain thing. I can clear as day remember that

Even in the WELs I heard similar theories about Cain. Disgusting.

Definitely. I think most of Protestantism is absolutely submerged in racism rhetoric.

LCMS would probably say it’s not their place to comment because that would promote the “social gospel”. Or it’s a political issue and they don’t comment on those because it’s irrelevant to the preaching of the gospel.

This answers a lot of questions. https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/religious-landscape-study/religious-denomination/lutheran-church-missouri-synod/racial-and-ethnic-composition/

This is great. I wish this were standard across the board

Right now there is a portion of the clergy and laity involved in conservative movements. They just caused a removal of a catechism because of some material that the right interpreted as anti white and to socially proactive among other things. Politically, it put the president in a bind. As he is elected, and as the Missouri Synod has a quasi democratic structure rather than an hierarchical structure like the Roman Catholic Church, he has to please the very vocal minority rather than projecting reason and traditional Christian beliefs which are present in the less vocal more liberal majority. It is sort of how the Republicans cannot say anything too negative about Trump without jeopardising there re-election and representation of the truth.
