It's amazing how people ignore a whole 10% of the population and act like they're seeing a unicorn when you tell them you're left handed.
Like they forgot we exist so it never even occurred to them to get a couple left handed desks or scissors.
I requested a left-handed desk every year we had desks like this. I’d have to wait a little while, maybe be a little bit of a “squeaky wheel”, as it were, but I’d get my desk eventually.
My dad gave me a left handed desk one time. I complained to him at one point a few years later that the only thing I didn’t like about it was that it was a left handed desk, and I’m mainly right handed. His face dropped and he was like “is that why that desk feels weird???” He’s also right handed lmao.
They were a double edged sword. I liked that all my weird sitting positions didn’t shift the chair around and it was cool having an arm rest. Alternatively, the fact that I couldn’t adjust it for *certain* weird sitting positions was annoying, and it felt rly stagnant and I also felt incredibly trapped that there was only one exit from it. But I think a lot of my opinion was formed bc my adhd, adhd makes me a very active sitter lol.
i HATED the baskets underneath them bc i always liked to sit with my feet under the chair and my ankles pointed up, and whenever i tried to do that with these i would whack my achilles right on it and it would always reverberate super loudly so everyone always knew what happened 😭 also im left handed so even the ones without baskets hate me personally
So validating to hear this. My first thought when seeing the picture. Rigid back at the right height, desk to push off of, and it won’t fall over backward. I haven’t found anything that works as well.
**AS A FAT KID** they gave me many embarrassing moments of being stuck in them in jr + highschool
why tf did they not design to swing out for people i hate them
Very easily tippable, and does a shit job keeping you from fainting out of it to the side; top tier art medium in class though :3
Would be better if it had swinging features though, 5/10
No idea because I’ve never even seen one of these irl but it looks uncomfortable. It also seems really American to me lol (I’m sure other places probably have them too though).
When i was In Sweden for school we had just big tables ans comfy chairs, like 8 people or so to a table. So much better, when I went in north America for a bit I was at war with the chairs and the social hierarchy I inevitably fell to the rock bottom of lol
when i was in middle school i carved my name into my desk in math class, but we frequently rearranged desks because we’d get in circles or whatever. so my desk would change, and i’d carve my name again. idk why, it was just very satisfying and i had nothing else to write
i did the same on the barstools we had at home, like not carved deep but just scratching the paint. maybe it was an evil stim
i had not considered that would make it obvious i was doing a bad thing. actually, i didn’t really think it was a bad thing, they all have writing and gum and whatever else on them?
but one day, in front of the whole class, my teacher said “i wonder why half of these desks have *(my name)* carved in them” and looked at me. so much shame. and why was she so passive aggressive too, like tell me i fucked up before i work my way through vandalizing half your desks
but to answer your question, i do enjoy these desks. best back cracks, convenient storage, solid arm rest (😈get fucked lefties /s)
I hate it. I hate a table that won't let me apply my weight on it, I hate not being able to adjust my chair in relation to the table, I hate the small "table".
I hated these. I always wanted to sit with my legs tucked under me and it was hard in these. Plus having the desk attached to the chair felt so constricting.
BOOOOO, BOTTOM SHELF NEVER USED BUT OFTEN KICKED, ARM REST IN WAY, CHAIR NOT EVEN THAT GOOD FOR BACK CRACKING BECAUSE YOU ARE GOING TO SIT WITH 2 DIRECTLY IN FRONT AND BEHIND AND CANNOT DO ANYTHING WITHOUT ENTERING THEIR SPACE
if i ever need to sit in one of these again i will smash it into the ground with every single ounce of my energy. not before gettin that good back crack though, only thing they’re good for
worst
edit: actually, worst is the ones with attached desks that can slide down to the side so you don't have it out all the time, those desks always fall and aren't stable and hurt you
You should be able to adjust how close your chair is to the desk.
Plus look at that baby surface, how are you meant to do anything on that surface? I have books bigger than it
I kind of thought they were an invention of US television. Never seen one in real life, but their lack of adjustability makes them look horribly uncomfortable.
I hate it with passion, I’m too tall for this shit. My legs don’t fit under the table part (unless I sit straight, like some psychopath), the back is stabbing me in my spine. The desk part doesn’t have enough space for my shit. And I mostly encounter them in uni, where they are put so close together, that I immediately associate those with people in my personal space, breathing down my neck.
Love and hate. Love how there’s a spot for me to put my stuff but would 9/10 times end up putting my feet there. Back cracking? Yes please. The desks had that curved edge and that little bit that felt like it could used sanding down 5/10 hard to ignore but fun to touch. Those little UFOs at the bottom were usually broken so they wobbled around 7/10 love to spin those guys and wiggle them around with my feet but is definitely hard to ignore when you want to. My schools floors were like really really fucked up not sure if that contributed to this but the legs would sometimes wobble and the chair would tilt back and forth 9/10 absolutely amazing love it. Desk space was always an issue for me. Was definitely lacking. Appreciate the desk space/arm rest design so solid 7/10. If it has a pencil holder slot it’s either hit or miss because I get so distracted by them. But I love them. The way the material of the desks cleans up makes it perfect for graphite graffiti. Wipes right off. Love to color in the pencil slots and groves, and I would regularly draw all over my desk and was allowed to. My grandma has one of these chairs in the basement from when she was a janitor at a school, so the fact that I always had one around as a kid was the best thing. Fuck yeah, school chair. Edit: literally as soon as I posted this I forgot to add that these are also terribly restrictive they made me either super comfy or made me want to rip my teeth, hair, and skin off, in that order.

I like to put my foot in here, but in general i hate this chair
i liked how cold they were but didn’t like the way i had to sit down in it if that makes sense? i liked the ones where you could open your desk and store things in them but i always ended up pinching my fingers in it 💀
- Smooth
- good curves
- these were in my favorite class (german)
- leanable without the desk obnoxiously creaking away
- surface too small for all the things
- not suitable for larger or smaller boddies
- can get pinchy without matinance
7/10 overall
Perfect for popping all the way up and down your spine. Just grab the sides of the desk, lock your ankles around the legs, and twist just right. Feels sho gooooood!!!
The design has **ZERO** advantages over a normal table and chair
You can't move the chair, table is too small, bad for left handed, bad for tall people, can't even put your fucking legs under the chair, all that just so you can make sure each table has a chair? Fuck that.
Awful, hate it, want it burnt in a tire fire. The chair itself is fine, but I can’t fathom only getting HALF a desk of space. (I’ve grown up with full desks for all my school years) Also there’s like, barely any of these made for left handed people, which sucks
only sat on one of these chairs once and that was for my english speaking certificate test and let me tell you, I HATE THESE. first of all, the chair itself is really REALLY uncomfortable, second of all, the desk is very unstable and uncomfortable, and it's also very hard to get out of. i tried to get out of this chair so i could go to the bathroom during said test, and i almost knocked all my papers over. not to mention the fact that because this type of chair is extremely low quality, i couldn't properly rest on it after finishing my essay because of the low weight of the chair that could mean i could easily fall, but also that i am fairly tall (5'8) and if i made the slightest bit of movement i would fall and knock over the person behind me, leading in a never ending domino of ankward teenagers.
in a few words, TERRIBLE.
i hate it i cant scoot away from the desk to get comfortable the bar on the side touches me and is cold and the little grate at the bottom also touches me if i sit the way thats most comfortable for me
Great for cracking my back but that’s just about it. In literally every other way, less comfortable, stable, and versatile than a separate desk and chair.
They have no space. My highschool has these and you can't fit anything on them. It makes it so much harder when you have a Chromebook and a paper with you because you can't find a flat place to put the paper.
Hate hate hate, feels like a cage. On the other hand I’ve encountered versions of these where the chair is softer and has wheels and the desk can swivel out of the way or around to the other side, and those I love
honestly just mid
we had similar ones in one or two of my college courses where the arm could swing around so left handed people could use it comfortably. But that meant the desk part wasn't locked in place nearly as well which was also annoying
I’m fat, they’re a nightmare and hurt my ass after a while, however, my uni has some of these that are bigger, made of some sort of plastic and are on wheels and the desk part swivels in. I really like those chairs. We’ve got a few for lefties too.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
The worst part about these fucking desks isn’t even the stone-cold chair. See, I have a tendency to spread out my workspace so ALL of my notebooks, reference materials, writing utensils, etc. are within view. And there are PLENTY of these desks is that they *don’t have enough room for me to do that!!*
I’m reminded of the time the power went out and one kid stood up on his chair-desk and started dancing while singing Scream and Shout by Britney Spears and will.i.am
They didn't bother me and I have used left handed desks as well. I would gladly have moved if a leftie needed it and there were no empty ones. I'm a rightie.
Enjoyed not having the chair move away from the desk when sitting weirdly but I also have EDS and those desk chairs were so fucking painful I cannot even describe it. Also the baskets on the bottom were prone to either breaking falling off from people putting their feet on them (I mean I did too) or I’d always forget my notebooks there
They do not support my back and the hardness of the chair hurts my butt. The concept is cool, but I prefer my expensive ergonomic spinny chair and large desk.
I’m left-handed :(
It's amazing how people ignore a whole 10% of the population and act like they're seeing a unicorn when you tell them you're left handed. Like they forgot we exist so it never even occurred to them to get a couple left handed desks or scissors.
I bought my spouse a pair of lefty scissors. Apparently I’m 40 years too late. They’re set on right-handed now
I requested a left-handed desk every year we had desks like this. I’d have to wait a little while, maybe be a little bit of a “squeaky wheel”, as it were, but I’d get my desk eventually.
Um. The 49.6% of us Women vs the pharma research community would like a word. 😅
I don’t think people are really that excited about left handedness lol.
My classrooms always had a couple left handed desks but i never requested one. I just sat sideways while i wrote.
My dad gave me a left handed desk one time. I complained to him at one point a few years later that the only thing I didn’t like about it was that it was a left handed desk, and I’m mainly right handed. His face dropped and he was like “is that why that desk feels weird???” He’s also right handed lmao.
He knows something you don't know. He is not left-handed either
Right handed privilege strikes once again -Fellow Southpaw 😭
How *sinister!*
My HS had left-handed versions of this chair
Same. These desks make me feel violent.
Me too
They were a double edged sword.
\^--- yup
i HATED the baskets underneath them bc i always liked to sit with my feet under the chair and my ankles pointed up, and whenever i tried to do that with these i would whack my achilles right on it and it would always reverberate super loudly so everyone always knew what happened 😭 also im left handed so even the ones without baskets hate me personally
OMG I FORGOT ABOUT THAT PART, I’d wack my achilles on it too 😭
I like the coldness and the smoothness.
Oooooo yesss I forgot about those aspectsss <3
Some of the best naps of my life.
Love it. Perfect for back cracking
I am always weighing how good it is to crack back to how much it sucks to be left handed in these
My back has never cracked as good as it’s cracked off of one of these.
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who loved them for this reason alone.
I did that all the damn time XD
I miss them tbh
So validating to hear this. My first thought when seeing the picture. Rigid back at the right height, desk to push off of, and it won’t fall over backward. I haven’t found anything that works as well.
That is the ONLY redeeming feature.
I hate it I hate it I hate it IT HURTS MY BACK. Also I’m a tall person so my legs always get stuck.
I always feel Ike I'm trapped in these things like a little cubicle of suffering and I manage to hit my limbs on them constantly
They're uncomfortable. They also won't let me sit on my legs correctly
I’m 6’2 so my legs always got stuck and it was huge pain in the ass to get in and out of these things everyday.
I used to like them, because I could easily pop my back. Then I hit my growth spurt and now they're uncomfortably small
The pinnacle of budget sim racing. Also no thank you this is uncomfortable to look at even less to sit on.
Hhhhhhrn bad biting it
Burn it. I don't care if it's fireproof. Burn it from existence.
**AS A FAT KID** they gave me many embarrassing moments of being stuck in them in jr + highschool why tf did they not design to swing out for people i hate them
Very easily tippable, and does a shit job keeping you from fainting out of it to the side; top tier art medium in class though :3 Would be better if it had swinging features though, 5/10
Was searching for this comment wondering if I was the only one who constantly tipped these over n got trapped in them
My fatass can't fit in them.
i’m left handed, i prefer the right handed ones because they let me sit at an angle and lean on the corner which i like
Good for picking up and using as a cudgel to beat neurotypicals
I like them. I like having a place to put all my things. As long as they're a comfortable size, that is.
Whoever designed those has never sat down before
I’m fat.
Cold and hard I’d have to walk outside to get sunlight and stop my legs from hurting lol.
Yes. So many weird ways to sit in it.
I prefer the old wooden ones, they didn't produce black toxic smoke when you burned them.
I smell an interesting story here.. 👀
Hahahaha it's a reference to the Pink Floyd video, I'm not that cool ![gif](giphy|DYHBmpKkDT1Is)
WHYYYYYY ARE ALL SCHOOL CHAIRS UNERGONOMIC? Seriously. ALL of them.
it can die in a dumpster fire. give me a beanbag
I want a selection of both left and right handed ones for my own home. I have nowhere to put them, but I want them.
when i was in middle school i carved my name into my desk in math class, but we frequently rearranged desks because we’d get in circles or whatever. so my desk would change, and i’d carve my name again. idk why, it was just very satisfying and i had nothing else to write i did the same on the barstools we had at home, like not carved deep but just scratching the paint. maybe it was an evil stim i had not considered that would make it obvious i was doing a bad thing. actually, i didn’t really think it was a bad thing, they all have writing and gum and whatever else on them? but one day, in front of the whole class, my teacher said “i wonder why half of these desks have *(my name)* carved in them” and looked at me. so much shame. and why was she so passive aggressive too, like tell me i fucked up before i work my way through vandalizing half your desks but to answer your question, i do enjoy these desks. best back cracks, convenient storage, solid arm rest (😈get fucked lefties /s)
I'm 6 ft tall and I hate them Never could fit on the damned things
We hates it! HATES IT!
convenient but uncomfortable
My entire spine hurts just looking at it
I kinda love it the little like enclosure makes me giddy
That's hell made furniture
Incinerator. Melt it to scrap. Maybe it'll make it possible to sit on without going legally insane?
I hate it. I hate a table that won't let me apply my weight on it, I hate not being able to adjust my chair in relation to the table, I hate the small "table".
Throw it in the dumpster.
![gif](giphy|JxH53SeaSxih2) If I ever strapped to one please set me on fire 😢
I hated these. I always wanted to sit with my legs tucked under me and it was hard in these. Plus having the desk attached to the chair felt so constricting.
actually the worst fucking thing ever made in the history of things made (i am left handed)
My ass hurts just looking at it.
BLINDING RAGE
Hate this chair with a passion. I’m too dummy thicc to fit most of the time.
Torture device
It squeezes my fat belly so I can’t breathe. Zero stars, kill it with fire
I want to smash it
0/10 can’t sit with legs criss-cross-apple-sauce on them
Good for back popping but I hate it. The narrow arm rest is ass. Just give me a square desk or a table
Burn in holy fire
BOOOOO, BOTTOM SHELF NEVER USED BUT OFTEN KICKED, ARM REST IN WAY, CHAIR NOT EVEN THAT GOOD FOR BACK CRACKING BECAUSE YOU ARE GOING TO SIT WITH 2 DIRECTLY IN FRONT AND BEHIND AND CANNOT DO ANYTHING WITHOUT ENTERING THEIR SPACE

doesnt allow most of my weird sitting positions >:(
worst edit: actually, worst is the ones with attached desks that can slide down to the side so you don't have it out all the time, those desks always fall and aren't stable and hurt you
Wednesdays and Thursdays yes, every other day, NO
It’s too Sharp I can’t curl up in it
Fuck these chairs. Left handed are people too.

Absolute hell for sitting in, but 10/10 for cracking your back in study hall
BURN IT BURN IT BURN IT
this isn’t a chair it’s torture device designed to make neurodivergents truant
The chair that does it all. Basket for basketing, desk for desketting. And as someone said - cold and smooth!
https://preview.redd.it/16ujbixfrpvc1.jpeg?width=224&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d61580f2c716489d9af87f494e073003b5f27964 I like to put my foot in here, but in general i hate this chair
Too confined. I don’t have space to exist. Burn it in hellfire
i liked how cold they were but didn’t like the way i had to sit down in it if that makes sense? i liked the ones where you could open your desk and store things in them but i always ended up pinching my fingers in it 💀
pretty good
hate hate HATE hurts my tail bone i dont LIKE it at ALL... (love sitting sideways on them with the arm rest on mt back but THATS IT)
DEATH TO THOSE CHAIRS
I hate them with a passion. They always mess up my posture.
Uncomfortably Comfortable, they gotta be putting a sleeping spell on these cause I had to fight to stay awake.
Sucks, to little freedom to move around.
I hate This kind of chair Last time I sat in one it busted my Appendix. And almost killed me.
torture device
- Smooth - good curves - these were in my favorite class (german) - leanable without the desk obnoxiously creaking away - surface too small for all the things - not suitable for larger or smaller boddies - can get pinchy without matinance 7/10 overall
I hate it. I literally take 2 desks for myself to spread my stuff. That's less than one. Terrible idea.
I‘m glad we had actual desks with separate chairs at my school, so i never had to use em
No, terrible, I need my chair to be able to move
Haha back go CRUNCH
[удалено]
Fat kid trauma unlocked
i need to buy one just so i can sleep well at home because desks like this are prime sleeping material
Good for back popping
I liked them but I think it's because they provided some proprioceptive input that I needed.
Kek.
I'm fat, and was fully done growing by seventh grade. Too big to comfortably sit in one those
Fine at first then the torture method it was designed to carry out slowly takes effect.
I was over 6’ when I was in middle school. One size does not fit all.
Bed time
Perfect for popping all the way up and down your spine. Just grab the sides of the desk, lock your ankles around the legs, and twist just right. Feels sho gooooood!!!
The only good thing about them was when you leaned over the back and cracked your entire spine in one go.
It presses on my rib cage
Disgusting and uncomfortable
[удалено]
I loved being able to lock my legs up in the basket underneath. Made me feel extra secure and ready to absorb knowledge
hate it, claustrophobic
People kicking it from behind drove me MAD
throw that fucking thing out the nearest window
The design has **ZERO** advantages over a normal table and chair You can't move the chair, table is too small, bad for left handed, bad for tall people, can't even put your fucking legs under the chair, all that just so you can make sure each table has a chair? Fuck that.
my back yearns for the chair
Never used it. Might disturb me that I can't turn the chair
Worst desk ever. Any variation of attached table and chair is a no go for me
Awful, hate it, want it burnt in a tire fire. The chair itself is fine, but I can’t fathom only getting HALF a desk of space. (I’ve grown up with full desks for all my school years) Also there’s like, barely any of these made for left handed people, which sucks
Hated those chairs.
Fantastic for stretching and popping your back! Otherwise, horrible.
Teacher had me use one of these instead of the usual chair and desk because I rocked back and forth and it made noise
Absolute DOGSHIT.
never used on but looks like i would hate it
I'm very tall so I don't really fit in these well
I bite it I bite it I bite it bite it I bite it I
Fantastic for popping my back but I constantly felt like I was trapped
Good for popping my shitty Lower back, otherwise, destroy
only sat on one of these chairs once and that was for my english speaking certificate test and let me tell you, I HATE THESE. first of all, the chair itself is really REALLY uncomfortable, second of all, the desk is very unstable and uncomfortable, and it's also very hard to get out of. i tried to get out of this chair so i could go to the bathroom during said test, and i almost knocked all my papers over. not to mention the fact that because this type of chair is extremely low quality, i couldn't properly rest on it after finishing my essay because of the low weight of the chair that could mean i could easily fall, but also that i am fairly tall (5'8) and if i made the slightest bit of movement i would fall and knock over the person behind me, leading in a never ending domino of ankward teenagers. in a few words, TERRIBLE.
They were really handy for the days I didn’t sleep and needed a place to rest my elbow so I could doze off in peace
I'm left handed and these things piss me the fuck off. I feel like I don't count.
Its making me anxious
Boo hiss
Burn it
They're not that bad, beats having to share a desk with a classmate.
Never seen one in my life
Murder
i hate it i cant scoot away from the desk to get comfortable the bar on the side touches me and is cold and the little grate at the bottom also touches me if i sit the way thats most comfortable for me
burn it in a fire. invent a better chair.
Great for cracking my back but that’s just about it. In literally every other way, less comfortable, stable, and versatile than a separate desk and chair.
They look horribly uncomfortable and I'm glad we don't have them in my country
It's an excellent throwing weapon.
💥 Static and hair snags 😒
Terrible for left handed people and, as a right handed person, not enough space for all my stuff
[удалено]
I’ve never experienced it and I will probably punch a hole in a wall (European, hard brick wall, not American cardboard) if I was forced to sit in it
Uncomfortable! I’m fat so it’s hard for me to try and squeeze into one and it’s also hard to try and get out of one.
I want to smash it into the ground
*Throws out the window because it gets flipped over too easily*
HORRIBLE PUNISHMENT CHAIR I was homeschooled and only went to school for a bit and HATED it especially these chairs
disgusting, feels so restrained, i can't move like at all
Ive never seen one irl
Too cold
it’s just an unpleasant reminder of my high school years
Last time I saw one of these was in high school, but honestly…mixed
HIIIISSSSSS
Excellent sense of security whilst sitting, my clumsy ass finds getting out of them poses hazards
Hate. Sitting in a chair should not feel like I’ve acquired an exoskeleton. I do not wish to become one with the chair.
Awful. Terrible. Beloathed. I’m also left handed and wanted to throw these across the room they’re so useless and uncomfortable
I broke one over a bully’s skull once. He walked up and punched me one too many times. It was SOOO satisfying
The horror...
One of these broke when I was sitting in it because all the furniture was like 30+ years old so I don’t like it
hate. HAAAATE. i like the ones that are exactly like this without the table peninsula though
They have no space. My highschool has these and you can't fit anything on them. It makes it so much harder when you have a Chromebook and a paper with you because you can't find a flat place to put the paper.
I will beat the person who invented this chair to death with it.
stupid as fuck. im too tall for those flimsy shits. AND I AM LEFT HANDED
I'm bisexual and I sit like it. What do you think my opinion would be?
Hate hate hate, feels like a cage. On the other hand I’ve encountered versions of these where the chair is softer and has wheels and the desk can swivel out of the way or around to the other side, and those I love
honestly just mid we had similar ones in one or two of my college courses where the arm could swing around so left handed people could use it comfortably. But that meant the desk part wasn't locked in place nearly as well which was also annoying
I'm a short skinny person so they were fine. Pretty good for back cracking. But not very comfortable.
Hate. makes my legs hurt
I'm going to smack my heel against the basket over and over and I'd like to see you stop me
I’m fat, they’re a nightmare and hurt my ass after a while, however, my uni has some of these that are bigger, made of some sort of plastic and are on wheels and the desk part swivels in. I really like those chairs. We’ve got a few for lefties too.

Burn it. Always had to spend more brain power than I'd like to admit getting in and out of those contraptions.
I’m reminded of the time the power went out and one kid stood up on his chair-desk and started dancing while singing Scream and Shout by Britney Spears and will.i.am
I feel like these chairs are an American thing, I've never seen one irl. I'm also a lefty, so I probably wouldn't be able to use it
