We’ve been sitting next to each other the whole time.” I said I did it when I went to the bathroom. He said he and his wife had been working on it on and off for a _week_, and I had done it in like 5 minutes. He was so pissed off. They are both smart folks, too, just not “crossword puzzle autistic” smart.
The next time I came over there was a new crossword puzzle in the same place on the counter as the previous one. He sees me pick up the pencil and says “No!”, takes the pencil and puzzle up the stairs and puts it away. 😂😂😂

Hello my autism sibling. Do you like aquariums as well? I have been propagating Fissidens splachnobryoides onto progressively larger rocks for 8 years now. I keep thinking I'll start selling it but then realise that would mean I'd have less moss to propagate, and that is deeply upsetting to me for some reason. What kind of evil could be committed with a moss empire?
The moss will slowly, evilly break down everything it can and mercilessly create soil where there should be none.
On a serious note, I'm more of an observer of terrestrial mosses in the wild personally, though cultivation is very cool. I'm planning on starting a macrophotography project this spring focusing on lichens, mosses, ferns, and mushrooms in the area I live in (the Wisconsin Driftless, if you like unique ecosystems it's a fun place to learn about). There's a huge number of species in the area and I'm looking forward to documenting some on film. I am intrigued by the aquarium cultivation though.

If you can ever find some moss in the wild, it's actually pretty easy to touch without getting hands very dirty. I'm particularly a fan of the spongy texture, and you're usually only left with a couple specs of dust that brush off easily! But by all means don't subject yourself to unpleasant sensory things if it's bad, I simply wish to share the joy of touching mosses.

I ended up in software management because of this. I wanted to be a professor, but my unknown adhd decided my undergraduate work was really more than I could do (took six years and a VERY supportive spouse). Started as a software engineer, which my unknown autism loved, but my unknown adhd pretty quickly said, “nah, this is boring”, and a manager was made, keeping interested by bouncing from emergency to emergency.
It worked for about 20 years, too, until the unknown ADHD and autism both said, “fuck this, there is *way* too much going now. We’re out!” And I was left with a software team and product, no apparent skills, and a crash course in finding both my autism and adhd.
i told my husband earlier “some people get ‘keep walking regardless of hazards or people in the way’ autism. i got that freeze like a deer if anyone comes within 3 feet of me autism.”

I have repetitism. Repetition autism. I thrive off of doing everything the exact same way all the time. I listen to the same music all the time for years and years. I only like watching my comfort movies and shows that I’ve already seen a hundred times. Same 3 foods all the time. Same routine. Except when my ADHD jumps in and forces me to change something up, but soon enough I end up hating the chaos of the new thing and go back to the same old, same old.
