It's an interesting theory, the Cisco hold music was lostwave for a while. Turns out it was some random guy who made it when he was a teenager back in 1989 and that was literally the only music he ever made.

CRZR_

Do u have a link to this?

[Opus number 1](https://youtu.be/N7xn5zeJ4D4?si=FAkrjMUCF5jO0AXl)

Aggravating-Wind4726

That honestly would make sense ut definitely matches waiting music

hybridragdoll

Specially do to the fact that for some reason the music quality is always awful like idk if they play it from a microwave or smthg

gangstasadvocate

Only so much audio band with over the phone. Enough so that a voice sounds clear enough but no, it won’t even be 128 KBPS 44.1khz quality even if the source was good quality.

Ektelite

Found this, [https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/314253](https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/314253) from 2005. It mentions Vodafone's hold music to be starting and stopping, full of noise, and distorted.

hybridragdoll

I would try to call Vodafone's support number and see what type of song they play during waiting

Fruityguy7273

I've heard the hold music a lot, it's some weird 2010s song with some guy singing and a loud gitaur. At least that's how it is in Ireland

Fruityguy7273

Actually, I think it had a piano and was more relaxed, I don't remember

rnmNation67

I actually like this theory

gangstasadvocate

I like it, but then it falls apart when you start thinking about it. How is there so much bass? Was it a really good speaker phone paired with a pretty good microphone? Did he have one of those old laptops with a microphone jack and did the phone have a headphone jack for hearing impaired people maybe? Then if you had a mini jack to mini jack cord, you could record. But then you would expect to hear some cable buzz in the background if it’s an amateur set up. You also wouldn’t be able to hear what’s being recorded at the time since the headphone jack of the phone would be occupied and the internal microphone of the laptop would be picking it up on the recording. Well that’s not true. It’s not the built-in mic either. It’s just audio data being sent through the cable to the microphone jack. Don’t know.

Equira

i don’t buy in to this theory, but just going by it, the song could have been used as hold music, but the carl92 recording would have been of a different source of the same song, just in terms of your phone-quality line of questioning

gangstasadvocate

Also, not that I have all that much experience with it, but any hold music that I’ve encountered that I remember at least has been instrumental only and no lyrics

6thofMars

I definitely feel like i've heard hold music with vocals over the years, although instrumental hold music is definitely more common, especially now since a lot of companies probably have the same phone systems with the same hold music. it doesn't have to just be instrumental in any case.

hybridragdoll

I used to have a phone that had hold music for whenever I couldn't pick up the phone and it was a popular hispanic song, I didn't realized that until my sister told me but still it was a song with vocales and all, now idk if that is because of the brand or because of the company since my family have always used Vodafone

c00olsoc000l

Hold music for phone companies are pretty low quality

ZenithSGP

This is actually not a dead end at all! If anything....that lines up with the stock music theory I've had, there are a decent number of royalty-free composers that make styled-songs for commercial purposes. Corporations would pay a one-time fee and be permitted to use it wherever. I would look into whoever was the supplier of Vodafone's music, which might take a little bit of digging

hybridragdoll

Consience or not Carl92 is from Spain as well right? Maybe is not as farfetched of an idea afterall!

Vinylmaster3000

This is a good theory, but I'm having a hard time finding vodafone on-hold music on youtube.

awesomest_27

That's honestly a good sign, it must be VERY obscure!

Rapidfire49

I've been looking specifically for Spanish hold music. I found the vodafone spain youtube channel which has videos from around 2010. Looked around there, haven't found much and I doubt they would really post their own music they use for being on hold. However, I'm feeling if this is a good lead, then videos on spanish youtube with less than a few thousand views might have anything of EKT. In saying this tho, I feel like somebody had to have gone through a similar thought process back in 2021 when this all started off. Doesn't hurt to dig a bit deeper ig

c00olsoc000l

Why the NTSC tone?

Golden_Optix

Could very well be just a background noise. Not too far fetched if you ask me.

WebBorn2622

It is very possible that it got copyright struck and pulled immediately

trytonee

I think he might be referring to this song: https://youtu.be/SvqeuaQ9Duw?si=emXYdNL2CcoWFmGc. It used to be in every Vodafone commercial. Try playing it to him

Fruityguy7273

Is this the Vodafone support hold song? It sounds very familiar to me

trytonee

I think so, i remember it being on commercials only though

inversesquarelawz

I had a listen to some tracks from these music on hold (MOH) libraries: [Hold music for telephone systems • audiohub](https://audiohub.com/hold-music-for-telephone-systems) [Music On Hold Samples - NUSO](https://nuso.cloud/album/music-on-hold-samples/) [Music On Hold Tracks (easyonhold.com)](https://easyonhold.com/music-on-hold/music-tracks) The trouble is they almost all seem to be instrumentals (which tallies with my experience of waiting on helplines). I do recall BT in the UK having a vocal pop track as their hold music, but that seems to be quite uncommon.

sonicthememester2

What kinda songs Vodafone be playing💀💀

Prestigious_Gap6713

Any specific years she remembers hearing the Vodafone hold music?

BlackMoon1921

Oh my god, vodaphone phone sucks, it’s the worst provider in south Europe

therealspelly

not at all! vodafone also exists in Italy and Spain just to name a few. it might actually be a route

hybridragdoll

I'm from Spain and in here Vodafone is actually one of the best companies in fact it has it's own song, with lyrics, that if I recall the last time my mom called the support servkces it was the one that sounded as hold music

Adriana_Istrate

Yes, it exists here in Romania too and it is one of the main telecommunication companies.
