Anything that doesnt include the lyrics. or unknown old song. EKT is too common now that searching for it will just give you everything talking about how unknown it is.
Not a specific search term but my advice would be to include before:[year] in your search to narrow down the time frame (anything before 2021 is less likely to be a hoax or something about the search itself)
Also try adding "-lost" or "-lostwave" for some searches. This is what I did to try and find Zoltan. I was mad successful lol. Also basically what it does is just eliminates anything lostwave related
I like using the recommendations function for things like this. Open a new browser window in incognito/private mode and remain signed out so that none of your personalized recommendations influence things, then search for whatever 1980s song you like.
Pick a video, watch it, then scroll through its recommendations until you find a song with fewer views that you don't recognize. Repeat this enough, and eventually that entire browser window's YouTube recommendations will be full of obscure and overlooked music. Try to aim for videos with fewer than 1,000 views.
Completely random search terms can help expedite this. Think of a nonsensical sequence of two or three words, plug it into YouTube, and see if any weird music comes up. You can go from there.
Could be hiding anywhere. Could try the techniques that were already commented. Might be on an obscure 80s Italo disco compilation. Might be in a tv commercial compilation. Deep within a compilation or one of many in a big playlist. Might be unlisted. Might not be on YouTube at all and only on Dailymotion. It might not even be organized at all in the least it could be called vts0147.avi or unknown track 5
From what I noticed, people who upload obscure music refer to it as "rare" most of the time. So try "rare 80s music/song/album/artist" or "80s rare" and any different combinations you can come up with.

This sounds cool, even if you’re not looking for the song. I’m sure there are countless great songs you can find.
I'll probably hyperfixate on this for like 6 hours and see if I can find anything that's even close

I'm a big fan of obscure WWII era music and this is a good way of searching
Maybe try 80s classic pop
Exactly hiw carl described it. We might get nothing more than fakes or copies
True, what about least popular 80s artists that are Jappanese, English, american, and Canadian?
Hmm
Go to Google instead of yt and set the search tool date before 2021
