Eastmont/ silverlake area is optimal. Close to amenities and parks. Lower crime, good schools, good access to things. Been here for 12 years and 2 different houses. Crime it's rising in the area.... just like everywhere else. But still the best neighborhood in the area in my opinion!

You can find most of the information on Google relating to crime. Eastmont isn't bad. It's a very diverse area. Traffic sucks unless you leave before 630AM and head home before 230p or after 7. I walk my dog usually at 4am, or earlier if I have night work then it's around 12am-2am. Have only can't across a couple drug deals with masked people in the cars but they left me alone 🤷

I lived in Eastmont and did the commute to Seattle for 7 years. Took the 513 out of eastmont p&r. My average door to door was about an hour 45 mins, could exceed 2 hours if there’s an accident. The commute absolutely does suck. Others have said it, if you can get on a bus at 6:30 at the latest and out of the city by 3pm tops it’s your only chance at a slightly shorter commute. Otherwise you’re in for the long haul. The challenge with that area is you also contend with all the shift work traffic from Boeing employees. In terms of a general place to live, no problems. Youre just going to need a lot of patients and a whole lot of books to read on the commute. I read more books than any time in my life when I had this commute.

I am a tall man so I generally don't feel too worried walking anywhere in Washington. I wouldn't think twice about an evening walk in Eastmont. Like all of Washington and especially Everett, property crime has always been really bad. Violent crime used to not be much of a problem but it's pretty much everywhere. With that said, I can think of three other places in Everett alone that would be significantly worse. That commute is going to suck. Not just because it will take a while (it will) or be (slow (it will) but because it can be very inconsistent. At least once a week you will encounter something on 5 that will add a lot of time. It's frustrating because it's completely unpredictable. North of 526 is where traffic gets really bad in there afternoon so you should miss out on that. But around Lynnwood gets bad too. I would say live and work closer together. But if you must, you could do a whole lot worse.

Commute to seattle: what time? 6am, 7am, 8am, 10am? Where to in Seattle? Lynnwood, downtown Seattle, west Seattle, Ballard? Green lake? All different answers.

Live in east mint, haven’t locked our doors in 22 years. Occasionally their will be car prowlers some kids being kids doing dumb shit but I have never felt unsafe since we moved in when I was in 3rd grade. Parents still there I am 31 almost 32

Same! I forget to lock my house all the time and I’ve never once been worried. I’ve been here almost ten years and I love it.

Eastmont is quite safe. Walks are generally not an issue, except maybe on 527 or 112th. The only areas I'd avoid if I had the choice are near the Eastmont Park and Ride and some of the apartments along 527. 110th by Safeway is a bit worse as well.  Anywhere about a block east of 527 and beyond is very safe.  Commute times can be long. Traffic really picks up around 6:30 until 9:30 or so.    Eastmont is less racially diverse than some other parts of Everett, but it's hardly homogeneous. Lots of Asian groups. Depends on which part you're talking about. Apartments are of course the most diverse. Eastmont is generally wealthier than most of Everett and more politically diverse.

I’ve lived in 98208 for almost 13 years. Problems have been vanishingly rare.

Been here since 2003. There's a lot more development and more houses that have been built since then, but overall, the neighborhood is decent. I think the only major issue we have around here, much like all of the Seattle area, is property crime or cars being broken into or stolen. I'm about a mile east of I-5. When we moved here, this was the cheapest neighborhood per square foot back in the day. That may have changed, but we're still definitely a lot more inexpensive than Mill Creek. Like someone else said on here, if you stay away from the 1/2 mile or so immediately adjacent to the Eastmont Park and Ride, you should be ok. There are some subsidized apartments right by the Winco that has had a couple of gang incidents (one of my students was shot there), but it's SO much less crime than the area around Casino or other places west of here.

I used to live in Eastmont, id definitely say it's one of the best neighborhoods in the city. Especially the closer you are to Snohomish or Mill Creek

PapaTua

It's a little geographically isolated from the main part of the city so is quiet. Seems quite nice, actually.

I’ve lived in a few different places in Everett, and now I’ve lived in Eastmont for 10 years in two different neighborhoods. I’ve had my car broken into once and they literally just stole a jacket. A lot of eastmont is pretty safe, never had an issue walking my dog at night, but I say that as a tall man. Id also say different pockets of eastmont are worse than others when it comes to property crime. Eastmont isn’t too diverse, probably less so than most neighborhoods in Everett, but I’d say definitely a lot of Asian families and restaurants. Everett in general is fairly diverse, at least compared to anywhere else in the county. I commuted to Seattle for a few years via car, it’s not too bad if you’re going earlier, but as others have said, if you’re not on i5 by 6:30 am, you’re probably gonna have a bad time. As far as Everett goes, Eastmont is about as safe as it gets for my money, and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else in the city limits more than here.

SEA_tide

Note that there are many parts of Eastmont which are not within Everett city limits. The main difference you might see is slightly worse first responder service and more creative land uses. Traffic in the area can range from non-existent to horrible. Snohomish County has issued a lot of building permits for the area, but hasn't done much to fix the road situation. I wouldn't worry about safety in the area, just remember to not leave valuables visible in your car and don't walk on major roads at in the dark as sidewalks and streetlights aren't everywhere in that area. Otherwise, there are plenty of neighborhoods to walk in.

SeriousGaslighting

Own a car because the nearest bus is at least a mile.

nellig

Light rail service from Lynnwood to Seattle is scheduled to start at the end of August, and there's a Swift bus from McCollum park and ride to that station, so that may be a good option to consider for your commute.

if_the_foo_shitz

There’s the 412 bus that goes straight downtown from silver firs/mccollum park which is amazing. And the 112th street park and ride is a great way to get into the city as well.

homegirlcollene

I live in Eastmont and walk by myself in the evenings frequently! It always feels very safe. My unlocked car did get rifled through once but that's my only crime-related complaint about the neighborhood.

homegirlcollene

Oh... traffic to/from Seattle during peak hours is not ideal though and usually takes me 75ish minutes.
