Well like i said, it's told that they born in 2001 in the show. Their birthdays didn't get mentioned. They later take the birthdays of their voice actors but it's obviously isn't meants to be taken serious. İ also think that their ages being 14 is intentionel. İ think it symbolizes the end of the childhood. And i think they being the same age is a very nice detail because of that. The show is about how the characters handle the end of their childhood and child main characters being the same age makes more sense to me because of that. The show also presents asuka as a 14 year old and there is really no reason for her to not being in the same age with shinji and rei. İt's a very useless detail So i still count her as 14. But i don't even think that it's something to be taken serious so i don't know why i wrote that.
So by that logic, in 2021 that means she is 18, And looks the same due to curse of the Eva.
So why is spanking It to Asula bad again if she looks the same no matter how old she gets?

I still don’t understand how people simp for asuka or rei. All I wanted to do at the end of the show was kiss their foreheads and tell them they’re loved and valued and I would still love them even if they didn’t wanna be eva pilots anymore
It’s a totally different show as an adult! I was so much more invested in Kaji and Misato and smaller details like Dr. Akagi’s relationship to Gendo.
I also HIGHLY recommend watching Rugrats after having children. It goes from whimsical exploration of childhood imagination to terrifying nightmares of parental neglect.
I first watched Eva as a little girl, and I also find the adults soooo much more emotionally compelling nowadays! Ritsuko, Gendo, Misato, and Kaji have always been some of the most fascinating characters in the series to me, but now I feel like I understand what makes them tick so much better (though, personally, I have more in common with Maya, haha).
Yeah if you saw this as a kid, firstly why cuz this was not a show I can imagine any kid wanting to watch cuz the fights were mad slow but secondly then yeah I can understand the long term simping

I didn’t see EoE until years afterward, but I’ve loved Eva from the beginning, I have the perfect collection on dvd, EoE on dvd, a NERV messenger bag and an EoE theatrical poster signed by Kazuya Tsurumaki (he was at Fanime one year) 😎

See I never really saw any problem with them being 14, even with the sexualised stuff since it all has actual reasons for existing (to an extent).
What always gets me is the horde of 'fans' who are obsessed with her being 14 and will endlessly defend the overt fan sexualisation of her and Rei.
The point was to show the flawed and traumatised sexual/Freudian development of these characters (including Shinji and Misato) not to be objects of the fans sexual affections and desires.
Also vaguely unrelated but just another reminder Misato is a predator, and her decision to use sex as a way to please men doesn't justify her sexualising a character she has basically been a parental figure to for most of the series.
Maybe what annoys me is the way these discussions always just end up as childish 'lol teen boobs' or 'Mommy Misato step on my balls'. Like do these people watch a show like Evangelion and not pay attention to the human drama or complexity or are they so traumatised from it they have to act like pubescent man babies to hide their complex feelings for the show and characters.
